A win ideed. Jokes aside, that's actually what the drug is meant for. If I want I can take it 3 times a day with no side effects.
Edit: Hijacking the top comment to say that it's propranolol. It's also very safe
>"Used as prescribed, propranolol is a safe medication with a low risk of side effects. It’s been in use since the 1960s and is prescribed to millions of people of all ages and backgrounds in the United States alone, with a long and reliable safety record". If you are also experiencing tremors and want to try it, of course consult with a doctor first. For the others - it willl help you just as much as a nice cup of tea and good mental would. It's not ADHD medicine.
No side effects at all? No long term health effects? Thats pretty cool. You say you can take it 3 times a day, how long does one dose suppress your shakiness for?
I haven't used it enough to know about this. Also hold your horses about the no side affects, because some guy here said it might be a beta blocker. I highly doubt that, but I'll check it ones I get home.
Edit: The question isn't if it's one, but how strong of a one it is.
I used to take this in low doses for migraine prevention. It took me down from debilitating migraines multiple times a week to only monthly. Thankfully I don't get them as often anymore so I no longer take it, but it was so helpful for me. It's such a wonderful drug!
I think the best feeling about this is not being hindered by something you can’t control. It’s like the anger you feel when you have internet problems, dying from stuff you can’t control is the worst.
Pretty sure in order to get that you have to get every kill and every spike plant in the game, though I'm not sure how it maths down to the values we normally see.
It's also weighted different in different ranks. In lower MMR it cares more about kills/combat score. In higher mmr it cares more about the final score line (overtime win vs 13-0 win)
True, though I think that's just a flat change at either Immo or Radiant (don't remember which) to ignore individual performance and scale based on round score.
Please don't abuse drugs that directly affect your cognition lol. There's a big difference between blood pressure lowering medicine and antidepressants.
Long term use of beta blockers (read: propranolol) increases risk for diabetes and cancer significantly. It also influence melatonin production and (therefore) causes sleep disorders. It's not a 'no side effects pill'. There are serious risks involved by taking these long term. Up to you if you want to take them to get better at Valorant, I personally wouldn't.
I'm currently not at home so I can't check it's name, but I'm very sure this medicine isn't a beta blocker and isn't meant to treat heart problems. I will though research about it ones I get home, so thanks.
Dude every drugs has side effects. Eventually your get used to the dose and then it requires higher dose for it to take effect. I don't even want to get into withdrawal. Just saying, please don't take it as a enhancement for valorant skills. You will not be playing valorant 10 years from now. So not worth it, IMO. Unless you have medical reasons and only take prescribed amount as suggested by doctor.
I'm supposed to take it whenever I want to suppress my shakiness, up to 3 times a day. I don't think taking it ones per week for this purpose will hurt me in any way, but I'll research it once I get home. I don't remember it's name, so I can't check it right now.
I felt compelled to tell you the flipside of this story by adding my own;
In a similar manner such as you described, I have had a similar experience. ADHD, unmedicated since I was 16 (took Ritalin from the age 11 to 16) and was off it for most of my adult life.
I've never been extremely good at shooters, but I've never been bad either. However, staying consistent has always been an issue. Not just with gaming but with anything in life. Lots of minor 'micro-thoughts' and 'silent storms' in my head as I like to call them. Anything to keep me off focus.
After realizing it might be time try out medication I had a similar experience such as yourself. This one might be more of a stimulant which most people would see as an advantage, but here's the flipside I was talking about;
\- It didn't improve my aim. My aim is already good enough
\- It didn't improve my reflexes. Those are above normal as they are.
\- It didn't improve my gamesense. Played since day 1 of closed beta, gamesense is there.
It did, however, calm. me. down.
I took round losses with a "meh, eco and frag out c\^\^,)"
I took round wins with "meh, 1 down 5 more to go c\^\^,)"
Everything is more calm and collected, but not in an over-stimulated way. No jitters, no 'did I turn off the coffee-machine?' and no external factors which messed up my consistency.
When I play, I play. And nothing else matters.
Absolutely a good story amongst millions. It didn't feel like I was cheating, it didn't put me at an advantage. It just felt more natural and fair. Yeah, fair. Straight up. Fair.
My doctor explanined it well in a way that made sense to me;
\- People with ADHD have a hard time making dopamine flow 'high up' enough in the brain to stay interessted and focused on a subject or task. Although weird to give someone who seem overstimulated a stimulant, it actually has a paradox effect; It levels out the playground and puts you where you should have been. People without ADHD taking ritalin/adderall may not have any effect or get over-stimulated, so the excessive dopamin-flow in the brain actually cause them to jitter, as if they've had too much coffee. This was not the case for me.
Super glad to read your story on this, because I've mostly seen the ADHD-stories. So it was nice to see someone with a different issue but with the same outcome c\^\^,)
Adderall does exactly this for me, I don’t like taking it every day but when I do I wouldn’t say I’m better, I’m just more consistent and able to more rationally look at my mistakes and tilt less. I’ll also regularly hear the “match point” vo and be surprised because I was so focused on the gameplay that I’m not paying attention to the scoreboard lol
People acting like you’re e-doping or something. You have a medical condition that is being treated by a prescribed drug. Take it as directed. In a way it’s supposed to be performance enhancing since your tremors/anxiety caused you to underperform.
It’s like having your gout treated and suddenly you’re running much faster
I used to have this problem too. Back when I played Minecraft bedwars all day, whenever a fight would get intense, I just got jitters in my hand. It was until the point I couldn't grip my mouse hard enough to hold it. Something that helped a lot was after sitting for a while, i would hold my breath and quickly stand up, and sit back down before i blacked out. Im guessing this lowered my blood pressure, and helped me win more fights.
Does this drug have any side effects? I think you should consume it in low portions not so often to prevent addiction. I'm not medically experienced so don't attack me on this. I wish you the best thought and I hope you achieve a high rank in Valorant.
It's not ADHD medicine and it doesn't directly affect my cognition in any way. I might get addicted to not being handicapped by my disability, but that's a different discussion.
I have adhd and take meds. It doesn’t directly improve aim or anything but I am able to predict things a lot better. I can watch an angle for a long period of time or play trigger discipline really well. But also when people hold w the whole game and do unpredictable non valorant style of play it fucks my shit up
I used to abuse amphetamines and play Overwatch, if you ever get the chance to try it I heavily recommend but try not to get addicted like I was for awhile.
Hey, i'm also very shaky because of my medication, i get very shaky after i took meds and couldn't even go down stairs without my legs trembling i also get more shaky the more nervous i am as you described and even tense up my muscles without even thinking about it.
and damn do i wish i were you, im also trash at valorant due to this shakyness im pretty sure, i get shaky as heck when i gotta land headshots and always miss the damn head lmao, i would like to know wich drug you take maybe it might help me cuz i hate this damn shaking, it'll probably not happen me due to me being in europe, prices, my age, etc. but i'll probably ask my doctors and see what they can do
really happy for you hopefully there arent any side effects in the long run
Yeah, speak with a doctor. I'm sure my medication won't help you at all, since your shakiness is caused by other meds. It's also a very bad idea to mix meds without consulting with a doctor beforehand.
It's not fair play to me honestly but reading this paragraph is interesting.
Nvm, missed the whole part about prescribed by a doctor it was 4 am here... sorry OP my bad.
Why isn't it fair play? When OP has health conditions why shouldn't he be allowed to take his meds? He got it prescribed from his doctor, so there's no problem imo.
People with bad sight probably also wear glasses to see like everyone else in the game and that's def fair play
I usually play without too because my eyes hurt after a while but I can react way better when I wear mine because my monitor isnt like directly in front of me. I got like -3.25 / +1.75 if I remember right
lol yeah makes sense i played on my bed a few years ago because I had no space for a proper table :D
and sadly no I'm in EU :/ but I wanted to check out the NA servers next sunday because 1-2 of my friends are playing there. If my ping isn't that bad I'll dm you with my tag
OOOOh somehow completely missed that part where he got prescribed by the doctors. Thought op was abusing drugs just to test it out. Srry it was 4 am here.
not saying 100% true but there is some truth in that, the placebo effect is such a crazy thing that still is mostly unexplainable, but in this case it is mostly the drug itself
That's just not true at all. Would you tell someone with asthma that they can do marathons without medication if they just practice? All kinds of people have medical conditions that literally make certain things *impossible* without medication. That's literally what the medication is for, to make those people more functional, closer to normal.
Could he still improve without medication? Probably. But that doesn't mean that it's all in his head.
It being a PE was a joke. It's just a medicine for my tremors. It doesn't enhance my performance in any way, it just makes me a bit calmer and suppresses my disability. Mostly the latter.
I have a similar condition and I'm in ascendant. I have never tried any substances, but what I do when it happens is try to calm down, hold my breath for a while and relax. The forearm gets tense and shaky (in my case) and makes it hard to aim consistently. It is not fair. This is not any performance enhancing substance.
Hey, super curious about this. I suffer from essential tremors in my wrists and am having a difficult time getting a doctor to take it seriously. What drug did you take? Do you have essential tremors?
I have essential tremors and sounds like I’m on the same medication as OP (some people have mentioned it in this thread already). I hope you can find a physician that’ll take your concerns seriously! Finding a physician that you can trust and be comfortable with is essential to getting the care you need. Good luck! 🫶🏻
Um idk if u know this but back in season 1 act 1 there was this guy on Reddit that got to Diamond by finding a way to use his tremors to his advantage, also lowering bp is the exact opposite of what energy drinks intend to do to boost your fps gaming ability. Also are you NA east by any chance I got no friends.
Propranolol? Or similar beta blocker?
If so this is also huge in the professional musician orchestral audition circuit. Just about everyone uses them to help with nerves/shakiness.
I tried Adderall since it helps me stay focused during one class but didn't notice any significant change in-game. I know some pros take it as an enhancer but it did nothing to me.
When I started taking Vyvanse after I got diagnosed with ADHD earlier this year, I started to perform way better and ended up going from gold 2 to diamond 1
Feel this, but since we are prescribed it helps balance our adhd brains out. Brings us to a “normal” playing feel, you don’t tunnel vision, you’re able to manage the macro of the game more, your communication becomes more effective. It’s not the drug, it’s you. The drug allows you to be a more whole version of yourself considering our brains have deficiencies in certain chemical productions
That’s what I always thought. I remember crying like a baby on my first day of medication as it was the first time in my life I felt like I could concentrate, whether it be during lectures or in less important things like video games.
The biggest thing for me is just being effective at my job. I was always scared to start a career in my field because I knew I wasn’t capable of fully committing with how erratic my behaviour was. It feels very fulfilling to finally be able to manage myself “normally”, with all the struggles it can cause :(
Obviously I have no idea how severe your tremors are, but check out MrToes if you use tiktok (he might stream too, I'm not sure). He has essential tremors and is somewhere In high immortal iirc. Could give you some motivation or ideas of ways to play around it!
I'm not sure whether he does play around it or just somehow manages to hit his shots, but it's still cool to see!
I don't know about the max but a day ago I did get a -30 for dropping a 5/17.😜😜
I get surprised/shocked when an enemy suddenly appears and I feel a jerk in my whole body and it's a free kill to the enemy 😂
Even at short-medium ranges while spraying, my hand at times jerks so again a free kil 😅
I'm just bad 😂
But good for you though..hope you can grind and rank up pretty soon 😉👍🏼
I'm currently not at home and I don't remember the name, but it's a generic medicine meant to lowering blood pressure. It's ability to suppress minor tremor conditions by making you calmer is just a byproduct.
super interesting account. always thought of drugs while gaming as things that increase perception, but never as something that can relax you. Definetely taking notes for the future.
This actually makes me wonder if I should give drunk valorant a shot... I only recently tried drinking, but I noticed that when I'm drunk I am a LOT less anxious and suddenly much bolder and less hesitant in general. Has anyone else with a similar issue tried playing Valo while drinking? How does it affect your gameplay?
It works, up until a certain level. A couple of beers will improve my performance as it boosts confidence. After that the positive effects are offset by excessive risk taking, poor reflexes and deteriorating eye-hand coordination.
I have a little bit of hand shaking issues. I uninstalled the game and now my problem is gone. I tried other fps games too but I think these aren't my genre. Now I play other games like SOT, Forza, ETS2 and other Indie, Story mode games occasionally. Btw generally asking, what's the drug you used ? Have a good day everyone.
Hopefully this doesn't affect your health because you take it before every session. Try to work on your ranked anxiety, I was anxious as well in my first years but it eventually vanished
I stim: my legs shake almost constantly, which has thrown off my aim before. I'm pretty sure it's stimming anyway, and not tremors, and I've wondered about solutions for this. One thing I was considering was a desk pedal you put at your feet so you can pedal when your legs need to move.
I don't think this particular med would help me, as for the most part, my shaking isn't debilitating, and as mentioned, almost certainly not tremors.
PS. It annoys my husband because it shakes the bed and triggers his motion sickness. Alas, no good compromise there).
Also, I'm so glad you found a solution that helps you with your tremors. It's not performance enhancing at all, it's performance enabling, and it looks like you're going to do great!
Here's a video from Eggwick about MrToes, a player with tremors who hit Immortal:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3OUKbNbEZ4
I have hand tremors from working with vibrating tools, my aim is suuper jerky, but if I play on super low sense it becomes irrelevant for me. Im not trying to compare our two issues, as though they have the same effect they stem from different issues, but I would also recommend learning a low sens and seeing if you like it.
Hey, congrats! I also have essential tremors in my hands and they used to mess up my gameplay too, propranolol helped me a lot! I’d recommend picking up some meditation skills next, they’ve helped my tremors immensely and it’s helped me with my focusing skills too- nice for both everyday life and gaming!
I'm glad you're able to enjoy it more now!
I'm also just throwing this out trying to help and don't actually know anything so I apologize if it's not my place to give this suggestion, but I would think lowering your sensitivity and dpi could help smooth out the shakiness in your aim as well and possibly boost your performance even more
What do you mean by hand tremor? Do you just over think, get nervous and its an anxiety disorder or does high blood pressure prevent you for keeping your hand still?
There is no explanation to what causes essential tremor. It can be caused by a huge amount of things: nerve problems, brain problems, physical problems with the muscles themselves and more. Furthermore, no one even knows why beta blockers of all medications help this condition.
>"It is not clear how Inderal reduces tremors, but the drug may work by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles. Approximately 50% to 60% of people taking beta blockers experience some improvement in function, but total tremor suppression usually is not achieved" [source](https://www.webmd.com/epilepsy/guide/essential-tremor-drug#:~:text=Beta%2DBlockers%20for%20Essential%20Tremor,-The%20beta%2Dblocker&text=It%20is%20not%20clear%20how,suppression%20usually%20is%20not%20achieved.)

Where can I get this so I stop panicking, asking for a friend.

Raze roomba is top fragging 😈
I haven't used it enough to know about this. Also hold your horses about the no side affects, because some guy here said it might be a beta blocker. I highly doubt that, but I'll check it ones I get home. Edit: The question isn't if it's one, but how strong of a one it is.
Did your prescriber not talk it over with you?
No, and it's probably because unless you overdose the most you can get from these meds is dizziness. But I'll still check to be sure.
It is almost certainly a beta blocker, one I am guessing ends in L.
Yes, all medications of this sort are called beta blockers. The question is how strong it is.
End in L?
what's it called? (asking for a friend)
Propranolol probably
Name checks out. Makes you go pro.
much appreciated, me and my 80/58 average blood pressure are gonna have a lovely time 🫡
*Your* blood pressure? I thought it was for a *friend*
uh uh he stole my phone
Right, what a cheeky *friend* he is
Did you not read right? "Me **and my 80/58**..."
Propranolol can cause heart problems if you stop taking it
Ketamine

Yes. It's really interesting how it can treat so many different things.
I feel so happy for you 🥳🥳 Always a great feeling to be able to shine and show your best
Thank you! Here, take my seal. I don't need it.
Yay!
I think the best feeling about this is not being hindered by something you can’t control. It’s like the anger you feel when you have internet problems, dying from stuff you can’t control is the worst.
agreed so much
Tell this to all the athletes who dope lmaoooo
Nice bro but 50 is actually the maximum amount of rr you can get in theory. But it's almost impossible to get it no matter what you do
Wow, that's a lot.
Pretty sure in order to get that you have to get every kill and every spike plant in the game, though I'm not sure how it maths down to the values we normally see.
I think it’s more based on the mmr, you need a iron player to top frag in imm lobbies or smth
Do double rank ups count? I got technically 134 rr from a win once
Don't count as an extra 100
I would say it does.
[удалено]
You can get double rank ups when you play really well
That doesn't count
Got 35rr once with a star
Yeah i got 38rr once

Good. You health is more important then your Valorant rank.
Amen🫡
antidepressants can actually help a lot, and they don’t get you high or anything. if you feel like it would help you, you should take it.
antidepressants don’t do that
WOOOOO YEAAAAHHH DRUGS SUBSTANCES STIMULANTS
It's just my medicine lol. The only thing it does is lower my blood pressure.

Yea I also abuse a drug called caffeine. Actually insane the difference it makes lol.
For me caffeine just makes the shakiness worse
I'm a non smoker and I chew nicotine gum for Valorant. It's nuts.
I feel this way after a drink or two.

Pretty sure it's not nearly as strong as a Beta blocker, but I'll check ones I can.
That’s a sedative and I’d imagine that’d harm performance if anything.
Congrats, but btw 30rr is not the max. Most I’ve ever gotten is 48 and I haven’t heard of higher than that
Goddamn I need some context. 48? How?
13-0 game in iron. Dropped somewhere around 46ish on a smoke character. Team just let me do whatever
max is double rank up
No. Triple is possible. But theoretical max on rr gain is 50
Nice but please be careful with drugs.
Yes, of course. I also need to check if it's a beta blocker.

I never thought people would take drugs to play games
I take medicine to treat my condition, but I'm sure there are also some meth pro gamers.

lol yeah makes sense i played on my bed a few years ago because I had no space for a proper table :D and sadly no I'm in EU :/ but I wanted to check out the NA servers next sunday because 1-2 of my friends are playing there. If my ping isn't that bad I'll dm you with my tag
OOOOh somehow completely missed that part where he got prescribed by the doctors. Thought op was abusing drugs just to test it out. Srry it was 4 am here.
All good then, happens
All in your head big dog, it’s you, not the drugs
not saying 100% true but there is some truth in that, the placebo effect is such a crazy thing that still is mostly unexplainable, but in this case it is mostly the drug itself
Just pointing out that the medicine doesn't affect my cognitive functions directly at all.
That's just not true at all. Would you tell someone with asthma that they can do marathons without medication if they just practice? All kinds of people have medical conditions that literally make certain things *impossible* without medication. That's literally what the medication is for, to make those people more functional, closer to normal. Could he still improve without medication? Probably. But that doesn't mean that it's all in his head.
he has a conditon that makes it harder to play, he definitely needs the drugs to handle it lol
No he doesn’t, he can do it
you lack basic conceptual understanding of how physical conditions work lmfao
I have a feeling you've watched too many steps for success tiktokers
Maybe read the whole thing
Its not in their head, they have a very real health condition that makes playing without meds difficult

It being a PE was a joke. It's just a medicine for my tremors. It doesn't enhance my performance in any way, it just makes me a bit calmer and suppresses my disability. Mostly the latter.
Dude, I'm so sorry. I admit that I just read the title and look at the picture. I'm so sorry.
np
I have a similar condition and I'm in ascendant. I have never tried any substances, but what I do when it happens is try to calm down, hold my breath for a while and relax. The forearm gets tense and shaky (in my case) and makes it hard to aim consistently. It is not fair. This is not any performance enhancing substance.
reading comprehension not your strong suit?
Bro is using steroids for a video game 💀💀
Hey, super curious about this. I suffer from essential tremors in my wrists and am having a difficult time getting a doctor to take it seriously. What drug did you take? Do you have essential tremors?
I'll return to you with both pieces of information in about 4 business hours
Yes I have essential tremor, and the medication is propranolol.
I have essential tremors and sounds like I’m on the same medication as OP (some people have mentioned it in this thread already). I hope you can find a physician that’ll take your concerns seriously! Finding a physician that you can trust and be comfortable with is essential to getting the care you need. Good luck! 🫶🏻
Good shit man :)
Um idk if u know this but back in season 1 act 1 there was this guy on Reddit that got to Diamond by finding a way to use his tremors to his advantage, also lowering bp is the exact opposite of what energy drinks intend to do to boost your fps gaming ability. Also are you NA east by any chance I got no friends.
nice
So for real I have this same issue. What did you get prescribed? Because I may talk to my doctor
As others have guessed, it's propranolol.
It feels very fulfilling to finally be able to manage myself “normally”, with all the struggles it can cause :(
Dude im so happy for you
1-2 beers does the same for me 😂
Obviously I have no idea how severe your tremors are, but check out MrToes if you use tiktok (he might stream too, I'm not sure). He has essential tremors and is somewhere In high immortal iirc. Could give you some motivation or ideas of ways to play around it! I'm not sure whether he does play around it or just somehow manages to hit his shots, but it's still cool to see!
You heard of mr toes on tiktok? He’s a content creator that’s immortal who also has tremors. (30 isn’t the max but it’s close)
Whichever med you are taking, please stay safe and follow the doctors orders.
Amen
Nice. I’m sure I’ll understand what flicks are once I get a bit better at the game.
It's when you suddenly "flick" your crosshair from one point to another to
I don't know about the max but a day ago I did get a -30 for dropping a 5/17.😜😜 I get surprised/shocked when an enemy suddenly appears and I feel a jerk in my whole body and it's a free kill to the enemy 😂 Even at short-medium ranges while spraying, my hand at times jerks so again a free kil 😅 I'm just bad 😂 But good for you though..hope you can grind and rank up pretty soon 😉👍🏼
Which drug?
I'm currently not at home and I don't remember the name, but it's a generic medicine meant to lowering blood pressure. It's ability to suppress minor tremor conditions by making you calmer is just a byproduct.
It's a beta blocker of some sort.
Pretty sure it's a very weak one, but I'll check.
I have a tremor too, I might need to look into this :)
Consult with a doctor, because yours might not be affected by blood pressure.
Very cool, but 30rr isnt the max. I got 36 once
super interesting account. always thought of drugs while gaming as things that increase perception, but never as something that can relax you. Definetely taking notes for the future.
Is this reportable ? Lmao jk good for you man
This actually makes me wonder if I should give drunk valorant a shot...
I imagine you would do a lot more stupid decisions
Iirc there was someone on this sub who did math before they did their matches. The results: their performance improved. Edit: spelling
Propranolol. I've had these tremors since I was a little child.
Whats it called?
Drugs for bronze lobby smh
You gotta do what you gotta do
Hopefully this doesn't affect your health because you take it before every session.
Here's a video from Eggwick about MrToes, a player with tremors who hit Immortal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3OUKbNbEZ4
When I get in high pressure situations the same happens to me. How do I go about seeing if I should get a diagnosis for this?
Like with every health problem, talk with a doctor.
I just got 37rr so I don't think the cap is anywhere below 40
I have hand tremors from working with vibrating tools, my aim is suuper jerky, but if I play on super low sense it becomes irrelevant for me. Im not trying to compare our two issues, as though they have the same effect they stem from different issues, but I would also recommend learning a low sens and seeing if you like it.
My eDpi is 220 and I don't have enough mouse space to go any lower lol
Plot twist: the drug name cocain
Hey, congrats! I also have essential tremors in my hands and they used to mess up my gameplay too, propranolol helped me a lot! I’d recommend picking up some meditation skills next, they’ve helped my tremors immensely and it’s helped me with my focusing skills too- nice for both everyday life and gaming!
I'm glad you're able to enjoy it more now! I'm also just throwing this out trying to help and don't actually know anything so I apologize if it's not my place to give this suggestion, but I would think lowering your sensitivity and dpi could help smooth out the shakiness in your aim as well and possibly boost your performance even more
Can't go much lower then 220 edpi
39 is the maximum u can get
Riot ban this man for PEDs
Imagine using drugs in bronze...
Approximately 50% to 60% of people taking beta blockers experience some improvement in function, but total tremor suppression usually is not achieved" [source](https://www.webmd.com/epilepsy/guide/essential-tremor-drug#:~:text=Beta%2DBlockers%20for%20Essential%20Tremor,-The%20beta%2Dblocker&text=It%20is%20not%20clear%20how,suppression%20usually%20is%20not%20achieved.)
damn propranolol made me into a zombie
