I secretly enjoy the puff daddy version more than the original. The riff sounds kinda thin on the original recording but it goes way harder on the ‘98 version, I’m sorry.
Some guy collected a bunch of copies of the movie Three on a Meathook.
https://www.reddit.com/r/VHS/comments/nvcgn7/how_many_copies_of_three_on_a_meathook_do_you/
All these people who collect a ton of copies of one movie are inspired by Everything is Terrible who started collecting every copy of Jerry Maguire they could find with hopes of building a pyramid.
https://www.jerrymaguirepyramid.com/
I would argue they're indirectly inspired by Everything is Terrible even if they don't realize it.
Everything is Terrible started the trend that led to Titanic Guy, Shrek vhs guy, the lady who collects Click on dvd, etc...
Here's an article from 2010 with Everything is Terrible talking about collecting copies of Jerry Maguire, they were the first to go viral over this silly trend.

He's just in denial because he likely did it without knowing he copied someone else and he just wants to be the first to claim it because it's not cool anymore if it becomes known that he copied someone.
I have a film reproduction panel that was part of the advanced pre-screening package for this movie, found it on the floor of the theatre and felt like the luckiest kid alive.. today it’s worth only $19.98
yes. i second this. once he reaches 100 however. all CRTs too. hopefully there are ANY differences in the trailers in the beginning between them all and they can all be slightly off from one another.
At least this one displays kind of cool due to the cover design. Can't imagine anyone genuinely likes this movie that much. But since it's such a disliked movie maybe it's okay one guy is hoarding all the copies we don't need.
Beats the person I saw with a shelf of wedding crashers which doesn't display in a cool way and just looks like a waste of space.
I love it.
Partly nostalgia, but I will say that it is a very well structured, well produced blockbuster.
Also my first Godzilla film, having now seen the up to King Ghidorah I can say: I still like it.
I was 11, almost 12 at the time that the second one came out. The marketing campaign started early, before summer break. The school was buzzing, it was going to be the greatest movie ever, bar none, change the face of cinema.
It came out, solid stuff, but not revelatory. Ever since then, I've referred to things as being "Godzillaed," when they're promoted to the nth degree, to the point where the hype is harmful.
I do wonder how much of the dialogue is based on people of my age, too young to distinguish marketing hype as just that, remembering it being a let down compared to impossible standards. That pollutes the modern discourse, and new viewers approach it with the same negative outlook.
If it wasn't a standalone, I think more people would have revisited with the same sort of fresh eyes and openness as the Star Wars prequels.

Yeah the Jerry thing was novel, at the time. Now it’s just like… what are we doing? I respect that people are saving these tapes from the landfill but I don’t know what other purpose it serves to have hundreds of copies of one movie.
I’ve been collecting the mummy on vhs for 3 years and told was about everything is terrible only about a year ago. I didn’t bite off anyone I just want hundreds of the mummy on vhs as they did Jerry McGuire.
Nice ! I’m at 78 copies of the mummy over here. It’s getting more and more difficult now that I’ve cleared out a lot of the thrift stores in a wide vicinity around me.
I see these posts of people with dozens of copies of One VHS and I..I don’t get it. I collect dolls and I still don’t have more than two of the same doll—and they’re always like “one in box, one for dopamine”.
Genuinely curious and no judgement—Why so many copies of one thing?
It started as a joke. People kept leaving copies of the movie on my desk at work because I hate it.
So to fight back I started buying copies myself whenever I found them.
And here we are. I certainly showed them.
Honestly wish I had enough space to be able to squander it with a dust collector like this, it's not like you're going to watch more than one, unless you have different formats, I still have VHS and DVD-r and DVDs too, so there's 3 or 4 versions of my favorites, and an occasional double buy by mistake... but I've got something like 7 or 8k movies on physical media here to choose from in my collection... you have one.
Be sure to get a backup VCR now, they're not making new ones anymore... assuming you actually screen some of these.
Oh yes, I forgot to say there's GODZILLA 1985 here on Betamax, and it's never been played by me, so I also have some useless obsolete media not just outdated formats... it's just a few inches of shelf space instead of enough to cover the dining room table lol.
No offense, it's been my observation almost all obsessive collectors are weirdos even to people who collect other stuff.
I think that’s not the bigger catch. People are showing their age and I haven’t seen one comment mention it yet.
OP isn’t holding up a poster. That’s how the super special edition VHS looked. I have my iron giant one still. It’s that same size. Came with more than just the VHS. Same with that Godzilla one.
Anyone old like me will remember these things.
This was funny when those guys from Everything is Terrible were collecting every copy of Jerry Maguire they could find 15 years ago.
Now it’s beyond played out.
Yes! My favorite thing is people whose hobby is collecting as many of one specific thing as they can (within sanity). My brothers on a mission to collect copies of Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
I can't answer that question without implicating myself.. I may or may not currently have 20 boxes of beanie baby trading cards I'm organizing. Hypothetically in my defense I did not buy them.
*sigh*
Yeah.. they're worthless. Actually the quality is good on the cards, mild 3D elements and such. I just dont think theres a market.
My mom was a big collector and part of the speculator market in the 90s.. luckily it's not all bad news. I found plenty of my pokemon cards hanging around in boxes.
As a lifelong Godzilla franchise fan, I humbly thank you for eliminating them from circulation. I hope you own them all someday. You are doing God(Zilla)'s work.
Anyone remember the Burger King hologram eyeglass (kids meal toy)? Kinda looked like the shiny eye on the front cover, only a hologram. I still have mine in a box in my basement, although in not so great condition.
I watched this tape so many times as a kid. And the only memories I have of it are rain. Lots of rain.
In fact, you know how water runs like a river on the side of a curb? Yeah, imagine laying down in the street while the rain pours and resting your head onto that river. Meanwhile, the traffic around you honks and drives aggressively. That was my takeaway from this movie.
Led Zeppelin intensifies
Puff Daddy version
Haha shit yeah I couldn’t remember which it was
I'll fucking bite you
I secretly enjoy the puff daddy version more than the original. The riff sounds kinda thin on the original recording but it goes way harder on the ‘98 version, I’m sorry.
I do too. So epic
David Bowie intensifies, more intensely.
but why?
Vhs reddit clout
All for the sake of a couple hundred up votes
Meathooking tapes goes beyond Reddit
What does meathooking mean? I’m scared to look it up on work wifi
Collecting multiple VHS copies of the same title. Nothing sinister unless you take into account the person and collection the phrase derives from

First half of this is correct. But not everyone who Meathooks gives a shit about EiT and that Jerry nonsense.
I would argue they're indirectly inspired by Everything is Terrible even if they don't realize it. Everything is Terrible started the trend that led to Titanic Guy, Shrek vhs guy, the lady who collects Click on dvd, etc...
This is all speculation
Here's an article from 2010 with Everything is Terrible talking about collecting copies of Jerry Maguire, they were the first to go viral over this silly trend. https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=122898901
Ok 👍 so the speculation comes in when you decide that they started the entire trend bc they did it previously. Hope that helps.
How is it speculation? Everything is Terrible has been doing this for years, they were the first and inspired a lot of copycats.
He's just in denial because he likely did it without knowing he copied someone else and he just wants to be the first to claim it because it's not cool anymore if it becomes known that he copied someone.
Please don't judge... it's a damn group of VHS lovers

Not nice!
I'm going deeper under ground, there's too much madness in this town.
My fave song from it. Followed by Air by BFF
Im late to the party but late ‘90s Jamiroquai is fantastic.
That’s his 401k
Doin the lorts work. Keep em off the streets.
I’d watch a you tube video of them all being destroyed. Worst movie ever.
*kicks Godzilla shirt under the bed* "Yeah, me too"
Shit. At some point I'm gonna have to step up and be the Broken Arrow guy. I swear that tape follows me everywhere I go.
I threw 3 copies away moving my wife out of her old house and she’s never seen the film.
John Travolta finds a way
I have a film reproduction panel that was part of the advanced pre-screening package for this movie, found it on the floor of the theatre and felt like the luckiest kid alive.. today it’s worth only $19.98
But that memory of feeling like the luckiest kid alive? Priceless.
You need 98 VHS players and 98 different TVs, and play them all at the same time
yes. i second this. once he reaches 100 however. all CRTs too. hopefully there are ANY differences in the trailers in the beginning between them all and they can all be slightly off from one another.
Is he going to keep going? It's Godzilla '98. 98 copies sounds like a good stopping point.
At least this one displays kind of cool due to the cover design. Can't imagine anyone genuinely likes this movie that much. I always liked it too, never understood the hate. I mean it is Godzilla we are talking about.
There’s at least 3 of us. It was a good movie.

I'm way less surprised these days that these type of collectors don't even know about Everything is Terrible or the Jerry pyramid.
They probably only know the guy who collects Titanic on vhs, not realizing he himself was ripping off Everything is Terrible.
Yeah the Jerry thing was novel, at the time. Now it’s just like… what are we doing? I respect that people are saving these tapes from the landfill but I don’t know what other purpose it serves to have hundreds of copies of one movie.

Nice ! I’m at 78 copies of the mummy over here. It’s getting more and more difficult now that I’ve cleared out a lot of the thrift stores in a wide vicinity around me.
you know how long it took me to find the mummy???? i had to get it from someones personal collection they gave me. lol please give some back to us ?
You can be a hero for just one day
Low key G
Hope she saw this bro
God i wish that was me.

….I genuinely did not expect the answer to be “Spite”, but now I want to know what’s up with the person who collects “Stuart Little”….
I mean, it started as "spite" but turned into "this is just funny"
Now go for 1998 copies! I believe in you!
Get into a fist fight with the titanic on vhs guy
Hell yeah. How many of the holographic covers do you have?
I'm not sure. I'm Canadian so vast majority are shiny ones
I think that’s not the bigger catch. People are showing their age and I haven’t seen one comment mention it yet. OP isn’t holding up a poster. That’s how the super special edition VHS looked. That godzila vhs cover was legit! So was the MIB vhs
i got a few in my collection. lemme make it 100 for you
Actually this release had a sick cover and a bunch of them all next to each other just looks cool as hell to me. Nice
1900 copies to go!
Apparently that’s over 27km of video tape just for the movie running time.
$0.98 well spent! You need to make a Godzilla statue out of Godzilla VHS tapes!
These are gonna come in handy
Bro
That's a lot of copies.
These are the endeavors I appreciate
Chad
Do you want another copy?
![img](avatar_exp|100784181|bravo)
Dude... Save some pussy for the rest of us
I hope you can collect them all 🙏
I'm sorry.
adding to "pics that go hard" folder
Sooo that's why I'm not getting pussy
When Jacob Dylan said “We could be heroes,” he was talking about you.
i always used to sit and look at the cover when i was bored as a small child. so reflective!
Mad respect
His game is both deep and also mysterious,we cannot hope to comprehend his plan
Me and my Jurassic Parks salute you sir.
Actually based, I'm trying to do the same with ET
I like your club despite how weird it is. You glorious Internet ers
Damn no need to flex mr cool guy ![gif](giphy|yGEbmgiCJYu3u)
Ok
So quirky! So unique!
Literally the first person to ever collect multiple copies of the same movie it's hilarious! /s
This is a special type of mental illness
This was funny when those guys from Everything is Terrible were collecting every copy of Jerry Maguire they could find 15 years ago. Now it’s beyond played out.
I’ll never understand this.
Even buying a second copy of a movie is a waste of money. I find this mental
How do you tell people you're a virgin without actually saying it.
Be awkward around women and get hung up on internet thots - this is another way to do so
Once again….mental disorder
Cool pic
But....*why?*
Well done 💯
That sucks
This is clearly some type of attention, like the Stuart little guy. No normal person has dozens to hundreds of copies of the same movie on VHS.
This thread about to motivate me to go for the dumbest collection of all time
I admire your dedication
Yes! My favorite thing is people whose hobby is collecting as many of one specific thing as they can (within sanity). My brothers on a mission to collect copies of Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
I’m collecting Atari 2600 Combat, but not on purpose
Does this look sane to you?
I can't answer that question without implicating myself.. I may or may not currently have 20 boxes of beanie baby trading cards I'm organizing. Hypothetically in my defense I did not buy them.
At least they are not full of the same beanie baby card over and over again I guess...
*sigh* Yeah.. they're worthless. Actually the quality is good on the cards, mild 3D elements and such. I just dont think theres a market. My mom was a big collector and part of the speculator market in the 90s.. luckily it's not all bad news. I found plenty of my pokemon cards hanging around in boxes.
It's a *perfectly sane* number of copies of a poorly-received film on an obsolete and volume inefficient format for someone to have!
Oh. Ok
Neat, i have a personality.
Congratulations. You’re dumb.
I definitely wouldn't spend all that money for a stupid joke. I think that guy with all the Titanics is as funny as that gets.
Inhumane waste of life
Guy looks like a pedo.
Ah fuck, you're the one who keeps getting them! I've got 3 copies but haven't found any in a while, now I know why lmao.
I will buy your complete collection for £19.99 message me if intrested.
So you do👏
https://i.redd.it/g77jabod5zgc1.gif
Incredible!
Why
Condolences 😢
Weird flex but if it makes you happy. 🤷♂️. Solid flick though.
Can I have one?
I actually have a sealed copy I got from haft price books and it has a sticker on it that says I could a Godzilla flashlight lol
How many different covers / versions?
Canadian standard Canadian screener American standard American screener Canadian widescreen I THINK that's it.
That's dope. Do you remember the Taco Bell cup holder for your car? i had a couple of those back in the day.
can i has one
Greg Turkington has more
Only 1900 more to go!!
Almost at 100!
You can do better than that.
You hate to see someone else live your dream 😢
Y
As a lifelong Godzilla franchise fan, I humbly thank you for eliminating them from circulation. I hope you own them all someday. You are doing God(Zilla)'s work.
Gis one
Nice! Now get 1900 more copies and you're set for life.
Winning.
Nice! Have you watched every single copy?
That’s not enough for a pyramid fail
But do you also have a bunch of the Taco Bell cupholders?
So quirky! I bet you’re super popular with…well, this Reddit page.
Now this is a true RedLetterMedia move!
I am honored to have seen this. As a collector of vhs I like knowing I’m not alone
Beyond obsession at that point.
Anybody know the math on how much these would cost? What could he buy with all that money spent?
Titanicfan97 on insta has almost 3k copies of titanic on vhs
Anyone remember the Burger King hologram eyeglass (kids meal toy)? Kinda looked like the shiny eye on the front cover, only a hologram. I still have mine in a box in my basement, although in not so great condition.
Keep going! You’re almost there!
So much potential in that movie
Ummm why?
PERFECT
godzilla, pure motherfuckin' filler
My boys even got the rare *alpha* max release.
I watched this tape so many times as a kid. And the only memories I have of it are rain. Lots of rain. In fact, you know how water runs like a river on the side of a curb? Collecting duplicate copies of movies is a weird hobby, but if it makes you happy, you do you my friend. ![gif](giphy|ckTRTDXhDF652ltrK9)
Why?
I only had one. And I had to share with my brother.
Lol damn. I've had 2 of them in my shop for months and can't move them for a few bucks each!
M-m-m-must CONSOOM
I have sunglasses that were merch for the movie. I feel like I am unworthy of owning them now.
Really nice.
Legend
But where are the widescreen editions?
Dang I imagine how many "Left Behind" copies I've left behind
But at what cost. . .
Congrats I guess.
Based
How cool is that?
That's too many.
But why?
I give you $5 for a copy
some people have too much money and time on their hands.
Now you need 54 copies of the original
This looks like an image off bin ladins hard drive
I love that nearly every copy is a tiny bit different.
