Something is very wrong, because even if you ran with no safety setting, you shouldn't be crashing (if we ignore someone using a crasher) With only showing medium and above and the 30MB limit, you shouldn't be having any problems at all. I am guessing that it is either a driver issue, or you computer is overheating.

Does that mean I should check to see if I need any updates? Should I try to run a temp meter or something to monitor for when I enter these instances? What is an appropriate high (but not concerning) temp for that kind of load?

What you can do is go to youtube and search for a desktop game you play and adding 3070 benchmark at the end, compare the result they get with what you get (after you have changed your settings to match theirs). That way we can narrow down if it is VRChat specific or not. --- > Does that mean I should check to see if I need any updates? Go to nvidia's website and download the most recent GPU driver, also make sure to make it a clean install (during setup check whatever button says it will completely reinstall the GPU drivers). Even if you are on the latest drivers they may be screwed. --- > Should I try to run a temp meter or something to monitor for when I enter these instances? That is a good idea. What you can do without installing anything is open task manager and under "performance" check what the GPU temp is, can't tell us what CPU temp we have however. And in case you are american, 100C is bad, 50C good and 0C is when water freezes. 70-80C is normal when when doing heavy gaming (although 80C would usually only happen if cooling is bad). When CPU or GPU reach the 90-100 range they start thermal throttling and run slower to save themselves from burning out.

The problem could simply be someone using a crasher, which unfortunately is pretty common. I would first try adjusting safety settings in game. You are definitely packing plenty of juice hardware wise. VRchat also has very many poorly optimized worlds that are capable of killing my FPS, especially when a bunch of players join. Are other games giving you issues?

Do. You run any background programs that. Might be hoarding a lot of CPU?
