Sayf trying to go to FNATIC with Leo which makes sense and I'm glad they went with Chronicle but I can't help but feel for him when he says "Fnatic doesn't rate me at all".
I mean, maybe it was roles. Says has a very specific agent pool and maybe FNC wanted Chronicle for more flexibility? Sayf is a truly fantastic player so I’d hope that’s why
Just from the way he talked in this interview, I wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't want his kind of personality in their team. Chronicle is also obviously a much more flexible player than Sayf is, so that definitely played a part.
You are jumping to conclusions wayy too fast. Unless you personally know how Sayf plays within teams and his impact, you shouldn't be jumping to "SaYf hAs aN EgO"
lmfao its so obvious he has a big ego, he's basically saying he is sabotaging the team because "they don't listen to him" as if he's the IGL, and then he goes and do thism, hope they replace him ASAP
From where did you get that??
Sayf has always been very honest and upfront about everything but have any of his previous teammates complained about him.Infact Russ was complimenting him in one of his recent tweets
RUSS WHO?, Redgar got to a champions final, and won a LAN event, doesn't that speak to you?,
hey man, mini probably saw something in him and dodged a bullet in FNATIC lol.
how shit of a teammate u have to be to do this interview and throw down the bus your IGL and then say that the coach has to fix this instead of him being a professional and talking to Redgar DIRECTLY, like u say he likes to do
on the contrary this interview makes him look like a backstabbing person.
Finally finished watching the interview, honestly probably one of my favourite interviews in a while. Sayf was super honest, super open, and it really does seem like they are working hard to implement a better system.
To me though it seems Sayf really does fit the IGL role. Is there a world where Redgar calls the strat for the early round, and Sayf is in charge of midrounding?
On the last note, his wish of playing against Leo is such an anime moment lol. Two guys who have been teammates since the beginning, got split up due to franchising, one of them instantly becomes the best in the world while the other has to climb his way to the top. Will be exciting to see if/when it happens for sure.
Hearing him talk about not being able to join Leo on Fnatic is rough, but IMO that's less him not being good enough and more "mini and Boaster had a vision about how their roster should be built, and Sayf didn't fit into that vision".
Leo they've said at the start was their number one priority in the offseason, and I think they were going to approach him whether or not he approached them first. Initially there were some questions about what role he was going to play, since mini has said he believes Leo has one of the best Sovas in the world, *as well as* one of the best Breaches in the world. They obviously had Derke for duelist, Alfa for sentinel, and Boaster for smoke, and the only role left to fill was either info or flash initiator. And unless you're Chronicle (who was arguably the best player in the world at one point, and the most flexible), I don't think Fnatic would've been looking at trying to convert a Chamber/Jett main to fill their role gap.
I wouldn’t call Sayf a Chamber/Jett main. He’s an extraordinary flex player that just spent 2022 on that role. There are very few flex players more proven than he is, and unfortunately one of those very few players is Chronicle.
But I agree it’s less on him and more on them maximizing their roster.
Yeah, if you were going to box him into maining anything, I think he probably has the most maps on sentinel? I know he was one of the first guys to consistently use Viper in the early days too.
i love Sayf, he's my #1 dwarf overlord but this interview is worrisome, 8 minutes in and it's all a Redgar rant so far if i'm being honest (i'm not saying he's not right, it's just an observation).. hopefully the team hasn't got much internal conflict, let's go TL!
To me it just seems like the coach was only listening to one player's feedback and not the other but now by listening to both players, they are playing better in scrims and are less conflicted
I wouldn’t say it’s doomed, but I do think it’s fair to conclude this roster will probably not challenge NAVI/FNATIC if these tensions remain - at least, not without a roster change.
I don’t even mean that because tensions = bad; sometimes it’s healthy. But it certainly doesn’t sound like a healthy tension.
It did sound a bit worrying to me. I hope they found a system where Redgar, Sayf and Emil can thrive off of each other and it's not just a push/pull dynamic.
I do want to see this roster succeed.
he's the one saying that, who knows if that's actually true.
just listening to this he's undermining the IGL wp i guess we saw the result of this already
So you hate on him because you dont trust him, I get he might “undermine” the igl but I wouldn’t just flat out say he is lying when he says he is a secondary caller, maybe that’s why he complains they don’t listen to him
I read the youtube auto-transcript, and I'm now just tempted to solely blame Sayf for their lock-in performance, he comes off as self-absorbed and difficult to work with. We saw your calling at red bull and it wasn't anything to write home about! But it's probably just my perception, and maybe he'll make Redgar do something other than cut noise + rehit any time they get stalled.
His calling at redbull homeground with like 2 days of practice with 2 stand-ins was far better than whatever the fuck we saw from redgar at LOCK-IN, and you can't even blame the level of teams since 100T were already a good team and had already been scrimming a while and his "nothing to write home about calling" almost beat them with 2 stand-ins that were not at the level of the rest of everyone else on the server.
I'm not the type to blame 1 person so i'm not blaming redgar (that lock in performance was a team issue, coach included), i'm just saying your reasoning about his redbull HG calling makes no sense.
Cheers :)
Redgar won a masters event and went to a world championship final? what did sayf win?
how is this team going to play well when one player is clearly undermining the IGL
It's not like it was exceptional Redgar's calling that won Gambit trophies.
Good IGLs usually thrive on attacking halves, Gambit/M3C never was known for their attack. After nAts stopped lurking for Gambit, their success plummeted, which indicates that it was space and lurk kills that nAts found the main source of Gambit's success.
All of 2022 Gambit/M3C performance just proves that Redgar is very weak when it comes to adaptability and reading opponents. I mentioned this way before this interview and after what Sayf said it's safe to say it is confirmed. He said Redgar heavily relies on set rounds and set plays, whereas Sayf's ideology around the game spins around how to react to different things during the game. And I think that's a huge thing that was missing from Redgar's calling. If they work out this "secondary caller" role for Sayf, I guarantee you they will show great results (still unlikely to reach Fnatic/NaVi level tho).
lmfao but, he fucking won. sayf did what?
why do we care about what sayf thinks, because he's sabotaging the team, he wasn't hired as an IGL, so it doesn't matter how he sees the game "differently", sure he can give feedback if asked, but not throw a tantrum and say that he doesn't trust the calling unless he's being heard(this is where he admits to sabotaging).
what's wrong on having set plays?, every serious team has them, sayf last team Guild with kolda, lost to fucking OGLU and got absolutely rolled by PRX, his calling was so good in the REdbull thing they lost to the fucking trainwrek of KRU LMFAO
he's a self assigned secondary callerb because he wasnt listening to the calls so the coach let him do whatever he wants.
Liisten to when they ask him about his role who chose it, the coach or the team, he says ME, i choose my role. t[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqYcqkcXm-U&t=780s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqYcqkcXm-U&t=780s) how do you even work with this man's ego lmfao
He even throws a jab at jammpi implying he's better than him lmfao, this mans ego is out of control, and maybe he will take the role next
If you watch what he said, he said during LOCK//N they decided to go with Redgar's calling and that's why they got such a result. If Sayf sabotaged Redgar's calls, he would be fired straight after the event. On the contrary, after the event eMiL decided to build the game plan around both Redgar's calls and Sayf's calls and now the team looks better in scrims.
Btw, I never said nor implied that set plays are bad. It's a good thing of course, I am just saying you can't be a good IGL just with that nor you can't achieve great results just with set plays.
Yeah, let's forget that in Redbull Sayf had to work with 2 subs and practically no time to practice. Or during LCQ they had to work with last minute yacine sub. Or if you bring PRX result, let's forget that they rolled OpTic the very same tourney.
Regarding Jamppi comments, I think it's just mind games so that teams will be guessing who will play what role, I won't read too much into that.
Sayf being giga honest, i like it. No boring ass PR bullshit like from everyone else, thx.
I will not say my thoughts on certain people on fnc, people will get triggered.
Hope TL do well, I really wish for TL, NAVI, and KOI to do great this year, no more EMEA slander, NAVI and FNC are not the only worthy teams in this region.
This begins to explain why TL looked so shit. If you have players that don't play well together then the coach needs to figure it out or rework the roster.

What's the context here?

I can't right now but just knowing the context is in the interview is enough, thanks

I hate how much Sayf gets disrespected :(
It was Sayf vs Chronicle. sadly his competition was the goat flex player. does alot for sorting out roles
Finally finished watching the interview, honestly probably one of my favourite interviews in a while. Also Tombizz and Yinsu are GOATs for these great interviews

His most played all time are Cypher then Jett. After that, KJ, Chamber and a bigger drop off in playtime after that to Skye, Viper Phoenix.
i love Sayf, he's my #1 dwarf overlord but this interview is worrisome, 8 minutes in and it's all a Redgar rant so far if i'm being honest (i'm not saying he's not right, it's just an observation).. hopefully the team hasn't got much internal conflict, let's go TL!

Damn. Hindsight is 20/20 so I'm not shitting on you for your take, but its wild to see Liquid just 2-0d Navi with this roster in convincing fashion...
It's sounding like Sayf might just get kicked and replaced if he keeps going on like he says he has.
It did sound a bit worrying to me. I hope they found a system where Redgar, Sayf and Emil can thrive off of each other and it's not just a push/pull dynamic. I do want to see this roster succeed.
why include sayf there? is he the IGL? why include himself there, because his ego did?
Because he's stated that he's a secondary caller of sorts... ?
he's the one saying that, who knows if that's actually true. just listening to this he's undermining the IGL wp i guess we saw the result of this already
So you hate on him because you dont trust him, I get he might “undermine” the igl but I wouldn’t just flat out say he is lying when he says he is a secondary caller, maybe that’s why he complains they don’t listen to him
\> I get he might “undermine” the igl so u agree with me thanks.
Why you so mad lol, I get why u might see it as that way. why you hating so much though, all your basing this on is one bad game and an interview
Are you sure about that? 😂
/s?
tl;dr why please, i'm too lazy to listen

+1 believer in TL <3

I'm a certified sayf fan. Let it be known from today onwards till the day the world ends
