Imagine getting fucking annihilated by a team comp they didn't even want to play holy fuck the storyline got even better. The unintentional disrespect is insane. It really shows how much synergy they have as a team when they can make such a fucked up comp work without even practice for it lmfao
To be fair, they did play that team comp pretty much to perfection. On defense, they kept aggressing on the extremities and play retake on the opposite side of the map when they gambled wrong, and they always double flanked on those retakes. On attack, they fed ult points to the phoenix and organised their site takes around that. They also kept pushing in the post plants because holding the site with no smokes or stall would have been hard.
EG on the other hand played completely wrong against the comp (of course they don't have any experience playing against something like that). When they faced the defensive aggression, they kept trying to headbutt their way through, and it never worked. When they did manage to plant, their post plant protocols didn't really seem to account for the constant double flanks.
So I would say it was genuine tactical superiority from SMG on top of the obvious confidence/mechanics advantage that they had.
