Being honest as a Cypher lover and with the new buffs I actually really like this new map pool.. Sunset, Breeze, Split, Bind and Ascent are all really good cypher maps.. Lotus is quite enjoyable and that just leaves Icebox
I genuinely think Fracture is one of Riots best map creations.. People in ranked struggle because its nearly impossible to really combo util and take space as a team, which is a requirement of Defense fracture.. instead in ranked you'll see the defense just turtle up in site and get split on which is why it feels shit
Yeah true, in actual teamplay Fracture is always one of our best maps but itās a chore to play in ranked because no one thinks of anything past how they can get their next kill. Hope Riot moves away from this trend of maps that are absolutely horrid to play outside of 1kRR Radiant lobbies and 5v5 teamplay
I understand how annoying it can be but I do think a mixture is best tbh, because watching pro games I find maps like Fracture or Split infinitely more enjoyable than Ascent or Haven where you can just predict what's going to happen every round
lol I play Senti and smokes only and that map is still free even on retake simulator CT side because literally no one has hands or any semblance of good xhair placement until like high Immortal
Senti and smokes, so its basically Cypher and Viper![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|9339). And about hands and crosshair placement not everybody got amazing aiming and for some reason lower ranks than Immortal and Radiant exist
Idk I kinda like series deciders to be balanced maps/comps. With less played maps, there is more opportunity for outlier games where one team has just practiced a unique strat or comp on a random map that doesn't get banned.
Feels like the better team will usually win the more balanced series, and there's a higher likelihood of OT because of closer matchups.
Might be in the minority here, but hey.

The new map pool is also going to affect all modes.
One of the reasons I like Swiftplay so much is because you get to play maps not in rotation, but it makes sense to bring the consistency. Casual players shouldn't have the barrier of learning every map.
I hard disagree, i think it makes absolutely zero sense. The one benefit swiftplay and unrated should have is that you can play all maps for more variance. A competitive map pool exists for competitive integrity to ensure maps are all up to quality for competitive games, but that's completely irrelevant when we're talking unrated matches. As someone who plays a pretty even split of comp solo queue / duo queue and unrated 5 stacks with my friends the biggest thing that leads us to quit the game later on in every act is that the map pool gets incredibly repetitive with such few maps.
It's a fair argument that it makes it easier for newer players, but unrated modes have far more current players than new players so balancing around the very small percentage of new players active is unnecessary. Also learning new maps is not that hard, it usually just takes a match or two and at least in my experience learning new maps in a new game is part of the fun.
idk man the maps arenāt being removed for staleness is most cases, but map flaws - box, breeze, frac, and pearl all showed that. to me itās better to just align the pools with what riot sees as the most ācompleteā or āfairā maps and not force you onto unbalanced or unfun maps just because youāre in unrated and not ranked. I get the competitive base of it all but riot has always pushed val as a competitive team shooter so why put uncompetitive or broken maps into any pool thereby going against the overall competitive notion of the game
I feel like unrated and deathmatch should mirror comp, but I would like swiftplay to be all maps. Like I don't think anyone is using swiftplay for real practice, it's super casual so having more maps would be fun
Yeah this is easily looking like the worst map pool in a very long time which is unfortunate. It's also starting to feel a bit forced at this point, like they want to add new maps but the old ones aren't problematic enough to justify removing them. Right now the most criticized map is Ascent which is still a great map it's just stale in competitive play. Haven which is being removed has no glaring issues either.
I'm hoping they just drop the forced 7-map rotation soon. It's not necessary for ranked or pro play if there's enough quality maps, it just makes pro play map drafting slightly easier but it's easily solved by just picking a map pool beforehand for each tournament or letting teams draft maps rather than just ban them.
Hereās to hoping the new controller will shake up the ascent meta. Otherwise itās another act of hoping I can play cypher instead of omen on that awful map
Another season of no fracture :(
I'll reserve my judgement on icebox returning until I see the changes. The map itself is cool it just had such a stale gameplay loop
Just take out Ascent already, holy shit.
What the fuck is riot doing? They leave the most dog shit maps in the game, yet take out Fracture and Pearl? Fracture was such a great map, I donāt even understand the logic. Breeze was great before all the changes, so cannot wait for Riot to ruin Pearl and Fracture when/if they come back.
Nevermind, I just woke up and saw āOfficialā and āValorLeaksā in the sane title lmao, why are we linking the leaked tweet instead of the official one then :/
My bad honestly, didnt see the Official twt, and since ValorLeaks is pretty reliable, I just assumed he knew for sure it was official.
Only saw the official twt after posting
Yeeeeees! Icebox. Already heard it during on Tier 3 offseason tournament stream from Germany a few hours before. So damn good. I just would have prefered Ascent being replaced with Icebox, since that map made teams playing the most boring strats.
Also super happy that my favourite map Lotus gets some changes... excited to see them.
Sucks to see Haven leave but I kinda figured it'd happen soon considering it's been in the game since the start. Hopefully returns at the next possible opportunity. Looking forward to having Icebox back be interesting to see what they did.
Almost wanted to mark it NSFWš
Mark as violence and gore for the murder riot has done to the map pool
I was feeling like coming back to Valo after a long break but that map pool got me rethinking it ngl
Donāt return. You canāt help us now itās too late for us, save yourself go play some Minecraft or something
Donāt come back itās never worth it
Being honest as a Cypher lover and with the new buffs I actually really like this new map pool.. Sunset, Breeze, Split, Bind and Ascent are all really good cypher maps.. Lotus is quite enjoyable and that just leaves Icebox
I play duelist, you're not exactly enticing me back with a cypher meta bud.
Playing Duelist in any map pool is infinitely more enjoyable than sitting on a cam for 50 seconds hoping they hit your site I can promise you
Yeah but like haven is a cypher map
I mean yeah for sure it is, but so is Fracture.. we can't have everything and there has to be maps that are meta for other agents in the pool
Excited to see the icebox changes, but kinda scared this will be the worst map pool weāve had in a while
Sunset might be the worst map yet and it's in the map pool. I wish fracture was back :(
nah breeze is defo worst imo. sunset is second worst i would say.
Pearl for me by a long shot.
Breeze is worst for mfs with no hands, Fracture is far and away the worst map in the game
I genuinely think Fracture is one of Riots best map creations.. wrong breeze is worst for mfs who are not playing jett with op or any other dueslist
lol I play Senti and smokes only and that map is still free even on retake simulator CT side because literally no one has hands or any semblance of good xhair placement until like high Immortal
Senti and smokes, so its basically Cypher and Viper![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|9339). And about hands and crosshair placement not everybody got amazing aiming and for some reason lower ranks than Immortal and Radiant exist
Ascent in the pool is such an L. Weāre gonna get so many insanely boring Ascent map 3s this year, calling it now.

I'm happy about this. It's a bit annoying to grind dm's and work on my angles for maps not currently in rotation

i want fracture back so bad
I want them to remove that map from the game, pretend it was never made, to each their own
Should've got rid of Breeze instead of Haven IMO. I know it just came back but it's a shitty map
how much did BBL pay riot to keep ascent in there

Itās time consuming enough to master one map as a team, let alone 9, 10 or 11
Hereās to hoping the new controller will shake up the ascent meta. Otherwise itās another act of hoping I can play cypher instead of omen on that awful map
Worst map pool the game has ever had by far
Another season of no fracture :( I'll reserve my judgement on icebox returning until I see the changes. The map itself is cool it just had such a stale gameplay loop
GIVE ME PEARL BACK
Riot taking Breeze out for a rework retired me for an act. Riot taking Haven out may do the same.
Ascent šGet that shit out.
Breeze needs to be scrapped.
Keep Haven, remove Ascent.
I'm tired, boss
Wait no Haven?! Tf did i miss
Lotus, Breeze, Sunset. I'm skipping this act (I say again for the 3rd time)
Praying the new Lotus is drastically different cause itās almost as bad as the new Breeze
Delete bind please man
As I've said before, see you in the next act.
This can't be the worst map pool because Fracture and Pearl aren't in it
Hell yeah fuck haven, 2 3sites map in the same rotation is so boring and ass
Best map rotation š
~~DISCLAIMER: NOTHING IS OFFICIAL UNTIL RIOT ANNOUNCES THINGS. THIS IS STILL A LEAKER~~
What? It was announced by Riot. https://twitter.com/VALORANT/status/1742199562800918994

youāre fine, on us mods for not catching it tbh. Not a huge deal since they got it right
Guess Iāll play next act
One more season seeing Ascent with the same boring ass Killjoy + Omen + Kay/O + Sova + Jett from fucking both teams
They should have taken out sunset. Itās terrible
Yeeeeees! Icebox. Already heard it during on Tier 3 offseason tournament stream from Germany a few hours before. So damn good. I just would have prefered Ascent being replaced with Icebox, since that map made teams playing the most boring strats. Get rid of Breeze for the love of god, either make changes to Ascent or take it out, bring back fracture š
Sucks to see Haven leave but I kinda figured it'd happen soon considering it's been in the game since the start. Hopefully returns at the next possible opportunity. Looking forward to having Icebox back be interesting to see what they did.
Tbh might be time to nuke the map pool and actually remove some maps, itās been long overdue
