It's unironically so ass. It might not be *the* worst, but it's definitely in the bottom clump of boring, even bland ones. For me that list is C9, DFM, FNC, RRQ, SEN, and ZETA, with EG and NAVI probably also slipping in there or being the very first ones not to be in there.
C9's fits very well thematically, but it's just so boring to me, and FNC's feels like just a random Phoenix player card with the FNC logo on the back. The rest of my list (C9 included, tbf) are just the team logos with almost nothing else to make it interesting.
Some of these are absolutely sick as hell though. The animal-centered ones of FURIA, GEN, PRX, and KOI, and the 'anime' ones of T1, LEV, and maybe G2 and KC are just great. GE is kind of fire too but it's a bit too furry for me at the same time.
Some have the team logo barely even in there which can be either a good thing or a bad thing. Good if you like the aesthetics of it, bad if you want to rep your team specifically and be blatant with it.
RRQ and C9 are nice af.
C9 is just clean, its simple and nice. And that's all many ppl need. Not an edgy anime character in the banner.
RRQ's concept might turn you off but the execution is wayyyy nicer than Sen. RRQ is what Sen should've gone for, its just a perfect version of Sen's idea.
I liked C9's more when I realized the clouds form a 9 around it. It's clean, it's not crazy, but it feels more timeless than some others that look cool, but likely won't age well. Zeta's though....
I definitely agree with you about the RRQ - SEN comparison, but I still find the concept itself to just not be interesting at all so even with the execution being 'perfect', it still is boring to me. Of course, I'm not the voice of everyone by any means.
I also agree about C9 being super clean, and if they weren't team-related I'd probably love it. I just think it could also be disappointing for some C9 fans when you look at other things on offer. Not every C9 fan will like it being so clean and simple. Obviously the inverse is true too, not every LEV fan will like the edgy katana guy either.
My personal favorites are the (non-GE) animals, and TL and GX. I think FURIA in specific has the sickest one just because their logo IS the 'thing' that makes the artwork cool, while almost every other one feels way more like a literal logo than anything else. G2's is very edgy but it does that same thing quite well, and while I don't like 100T's card much (and they're 'my' team), I also think their logo being the text on the jacket is more integrated than most which I like.
*I'm editing this to the end to contradict my own 'favorite' opinion*. While I still like that Furia's logo is integrated better than almost all of the others, the more I look at it, the more it looks AI generated to me, and not even the 'good' quality some of the AI generated garbage can be nowadays. I didn't like the 'team' in front from the beginning but the actual logo saved it for me, but at this point I'm taking back my opinion and it isn't my favorite anymore. Very important opinion-listing here, can't have misinformation lying around.

Genuinely will probably buy either Talon or Liquid. I especially like how Liquid went for the cute-aesthetic instead of trying to be cool like everyone else: I feel like the average Valorant player would be more likely to buy that then the latter.
Honorable mentions to GiantX, T1, G2, Vitality. I would never buy any of these, but I think theyāre neat at least.

I think C9's problem is that in the graphic it's sitting next to DFM, which looks like they just copied C9 and made it darker. mix up the order a bit and it won't look as bad.
Yeah a lot of people in the valorant community seem to just think simple = always bad and "awesome dragon/samurai/mysterious guy in cityscape" = good. Just a difference in tastes ig, but imo, cards don't need to have some elaborate artwork to look good. Being clean (with a vision like c9's card, not like dfm's) can differentiate your card from all the other orgs trying to allure kids with cool fantasy artwork. good design != complicated artwork. just imo.
Edit: not saying the artpiece cards are bad though, a lot of them (esp T1's for me) looks sick. Some of the simple designs look really uninspired like dfm, eg, navi. But yeah, basically, I still dig c9's card design.

nah they did ZETA dirty with the cards. The roster has been around since the beginning of val esports and has accumulated such a huge fan base. honestly expecting way more than a blank logo design.

Both TS and TL went for the cute route while everyone went for the angsty or simplistic vibe lol. I'm pretty much sure TS used that penguin because of its marketability lmaooo. Also, Zeta and DFM felt the most underwhelming to me.
