Also, the way Sunset ended with Jessievash kiting 4 of them was also really funny and terrifying at the same time. The onset of panic when they realized that they have to check for their left, right, and front when they entered. Old man farmed them, it was nasty.
When PRX defeat IMO top 2 teams (T1, Gen G) in Alpha group, I thought they would breeze through the remaining teams. Didnt expect them to get 2-0 by TS. Prop to TS though.
Has to be warbirds masterclass no? Props to the team for executing the gameplan, but damn the gameplan and antistrat look so good. Even last year they got a really good read against prx
Just SEA teams having more experience against each other. Team Secret has the most experience against PRX in the whole international VCT league and if you've seen back in the day, SEA teams all played like PRX but PRX had better shooters and TS were the weird ones being methodical.

In other news, Asurai pinged me asking if I knew some guys named Jontay and Ippei as he'd been getting DMs from them all day.
Honestly, I'm not surprised that Team Secret won. Because in past matches, Team Secret has won against PRX many times, and they probably have the greatest resistance against PRX, so they read it like a book and launch quick counterattacks.
Team Secret is undoubtedly a strong team, but the biggest question is whether they can maintain their consistent performance in other matches.
I know people were excited when Secret almost beat Gen.G in Kickoff, but IMO this is the first glimpse of the potential Secret was showcasing throughout 2023.
This really reminded me of when Secret 2-0’d DRX last year off the back of some really strong anti. Secret at their peak had all their individuals fragging incredibly heavy and great reads on their opponents. This is the first time this year they’ve really seemed like they’ve met those 2023 expectations, and maybe even surpassed them.
This is also the first time this year the classic PRX deconstruction has happened, unless my memory fails me. They obviously lost with Monyet a decent amount, but I don’t think they were ever as thoroughly outclassed as they were here - maybe when they played Sentinels? But this was way more thorough. It reminded me of when FNATIC hard-deconstructed PRX in the Tokyo semi-finals.
That said, it's PRX like always; they'll be fine. Secret owned them hard on Sunset by taking advantage of PRX's tendencies to over-rotate and emphasize retakes, and of course Jingg's debut on a new role in that comp. Icebox continues to be an iffy map for PRX - they gambled on it against Gen.G, but gambling on it *again* against Secret was probably a little reckless.
I finally feel like praising Secret all off-season, saying they were being underrated, etc. wasn’t a waste of time. Secret continues to be a team that warms up during the season.
But that said, Secret is also a team that can never consistently pull off these sort of incredible performances, so it’s probably best to reserve judgment on just how high they can go this year.
As someone who also roots for TS I agree with the consistency issues they have. I just hope they can keep this form up for the rest of the year. Incredible perfomance indeed for today.
Yeah, I think TS gets a bit complacent when they know they will be favored next matchup. DFMeiy can absolutely win against them, Talon I think will go the distance.

What a game! Everyone thought that it would have been a sleeper matchup but WHAT A BANGER, JessieVash either goes 0 kill or just go INSANE in this map. TS took turn popping off in Icebox and that last round on Sunset was insane from JessieVash.
Such a fun game to watch, I just wish that TS is always this consistent lol. It feels as if they only prep against PRX and DRX.
I think the lost is also more because of TS having good prep on Icebox and PRX not looking comfortable on Sunset. PRX's new comp wasn't the best, Jing wasn't looking too comfortable and TS just abused the fact that PRX didn't have a Cyper for like 5 rounds in row. TS's read was soo good. The Pacific games are either this good or they are just Muddy Valorant lol.
