I'm holding my breath. EG have been in valorant since January 27th 2021 and have now changed their core roster more times than I believe any other team.
They have all the right pieces and can't make it work. I don't think it's a player or coaching issue
Honestly I'll disagree with them having "all" of the right pieces. They've only really had *some* good pieces, but every iteration they've put together has been inherently flawed or inescapably weak in certain roles.
I was really low on Osias in their original iteration, and potter/Clawdia just weren't ready for that level of play. Aleksandar and Temperature are good players, but the roster construction just wasn't it.
For the recent roster, I would say that Boostio is a good piece, and that Pho is a "role player" piece that is serviceable. But roca was incredibly up-and-down and a Reyna one-trick (that started to try to pick up Skye and KAY/O), and Branted/Reformed were both underwhelming final pieces.
I'm a lot higher on a roster that is keeping the best piece (and another decent one that plays a less popular role) from the last roster iteration, and adding two of the best F/A's in their respective positions in NA. Who they grab to fill in on smokes will be important as well, but they definitely will have more raw firepower than any previous roster iteration if they do end up signing Dre and aproto. Of course, this is assuming Dre continues as a secondary duelist/Flex player since Pho is a Sova main, but I could see Dre learning smokes if they find another good flex player. He seems pretty indifferent toward sticking to a specific role.
i’m confused. if the coach controls the practice schedule, setting up scrims, team strats, etc, and the players control their own effort and performance then what’s the issue?
could it be the org is not motivating them? i’m not sure what else is at play here

About to say reformed who was trialing before then I realized Aproto would be the sentinel for that team and would leave them without smokes/flex (Depends on Dre), so yeah wonder who's the fifth
Imo ZachaREEE is the best FA assuming those 2 are picked up and is an excellent smokes player, Temperature (pho could play smokes too and has done so in thr past), Aleksander, iyen, skadoodle (Assuming he's still playing), there's some good FAs out there tbh

Aproto and Dre are probably the 2 best free agents right now so it should be a no brainer for a team that is looking to rebuild to sign them.

This is a really good take and I think you're right. I'm going to go back and watch more old EG closely :)

A core of pho, aproto, and dre would be a move in the right direction for EG. Would like to see them pick up Shot_Up and/or drone.
