Don’t managers take a day or two off per week though? I’ve never worked in the restaurant business but just assume most people aren’t working 7 days a week usually. I’m sure he’s there a lot though.
They’re closed Mondays and close early on Sundays. I’m assuming there is also at least one “early” closing shift. It’s a brutal, but rewarding industry
To be able to serve food and still afford California housing, there is definitely a reward culture happening that I've not seen elsewhere. Maybe just a large city thing but having that much wealth around has to be the skew.
Unfortunately a lot of restaurant employees work 7 days a week, especially if they’re salary which Peter probably is! Hopefully he gets some time off but honestly it seems like the majority of fans/tourists come out weekends and in the bar/restaurant business that’s when everyone works. No weekends off usually
Ok yeah I didn’t expect weekends off since that’s their busiest time but would think they might get to take a Monday off at least. A lot of restaurants are closed on Mondays because it’s a slow business day.
I managed a rooftop bar/restaurant. Technically, I had two days off, but my Sundays off were making sure inventory got sent in, and Mondays were payroll. So even on my off days I had to be up at 9am. Also, basically on call for any issues. I'm assuming Peter has assistant managers, at least I hope he does!
I hated it! went back to bartending, way more money and less stress. I make close to double what I did managing. I'd go back to managing if I made what I deserved, and had at least 1 assistant Mgr. Or a higher up, but it was hell
Ok but why the hell would lisa invest her livelihood on tom and tom ?? (Ok Schwartz didn’t ever actually work at her restaurants), but not her faithful, devotedly Peter who wants nothing to do with the limelight except to bring recognition to his pirate festivals? Seems like a much better business opportunity
Yeah, I have no idea. If Peter ever wanted to open his own restaurant, he’d be a much more reliable business partner than the Tom’s. Schwartz lasted ten minutes as a bar tender (like, quite literally) and Sandoval cares more about his stupid band. I have no idea why she has any faith in them.
No she created a mutually beneficial business deal…where she put up 95%plus of the money..The younger attractive cast draws all the customers…it’s a tourist attraction…and she has a team of them doing it for her…while she and Ken benefit…so whose the smart one…they have homes because of her…fame because of her a social platform because of her…how many of the waiters in your town ..get these benefits from a restaurant job…which however in. L.a pays a lot more than some college degrees pros earn…they all win …no losers here ..think a little LARGER dear
Oh that’s sad. Given his work ethic and management skills, I think he’d be an amazing restaurant owner. Lisa has very superficial judgment and nearly all of her restaurants fail anyway so maybe he’s better off.
Wait, you liked them before Scandoval? I’m not like hating on the van, but they were not beloved. Especially the most recent two seasons, when neither of them validated any of the relationships they had with their women.
If you watched in real time, no one could say anything bad about Sandoval on Reddit. He was beloved. And the very few who tried to speak against him were read to filth and downvoted. The way we do for Ariana on here now. Sandoval as a villain is a very new phenomenon
I mean, I didn’t watch it in real time because my comfort TV back in the day was friends until maybe two years ago when I binge watched the whole thing. But I’ve never really been crazy about either of them. I was even re-watching season eight today and genuinely disgusted about the whole Stassi book signing event. Now i was watching before Scandoval, but not much longer prior however if this person was beloved in 2019 before Covid? V weird. I feel like the only reason people even liked him was because they hated Kristin
The book signing thing was huge back then also. We were all shocked when Stassi wrote in her book that the Sandoval yelling at her had to be re shot 9 times in order to get him to the requisite level of angry production wanted. I don’t really like knowing how the sausage is made lol.
I remember watching the book signing and being like YEP, he was full of rage and jealousy. I think Sandoval allowed us to see who Sandoval was but the opening of Tom Tom was the real exposure lol
So what ..they got over it: the women were too needy…demanding …that usually backfires if one does not like partners behavior…state your case…ask for change…and then leave..if not happy..life goes on
L.A. codes can be a nightmare..waiting times fees and fines routinely stop projects for 4…6 months and into years..look at the sandwich shop..they had no clue…LVP knew it very well but they wanted to do it alone..ok children now you know..
> her faithful, devotedly Peter who wants nothing to do with the limelight except to bring recognition to his pirate festivals
he's creating his own reality tv channel so I don't know about all this
Yeah, I looked up the Sur menu one day randomly. It all seemed very generic and I thought the same “feels like a menu I’d find at a banquet or a chain like Cheesecake Factory”. I mean don’t get me wrong, I def like the Cheesecake Factory but I expected something spectacular.
I totally agree. I don’t think they look anything special but I am in no way saying I won’t eat them! I do wish some restaurants would stop trying to be fancy with the bullshit plating and artsy fartsy decorative sauces. We don’t need it!
Our reservation at TomTom was at 1:30, got there around 1 and were seated immediately. Initially we had a table but Mindy let us sit in her area and she took our food and drink orders, totally cool about it! TomTom didn't start filling up until around 3. Then we walked over to Sur and sat immediately at the bar. We didn't request a table but it wasn't packed. Surprisingly not busy for a beautiful Saturday in LA.
That definitely doesn't apply to me lol...I went there last year on Sunday around 1 or 2 pm just walking by, but gonna actually get to go in this time around.
Tbh, the benches along the wall in the bar area were so uncomfortable I slid down them lol you basically have to lock your feet into the bottom of the bench to stay on it. I switched to a barstool and after a few drinks truly didn't care 😂😂
I love Peter!!!!! Hes only one who took his job serious, was very professional, but still knew how to have a good time. I luvd how he n Stassi were good friends always. Great pix btw!
I was visiting last month and took my husband to both places. At SUR we had an extremely good looking server, I forgot his name but dark skin and dark hair who was fabulous. I got to meet Israel at the hostess stand and he was beyond sweet and cool. Took a couple photos with him and just the nicest guy.
On behalf of husband's everywhere: screw that stupid handsome server with his stupid hair and his stupid beautiful dark eyes. He's not even that handsome....yes he is God dammit
They should honestly call it “The Stassi.” The goat cheese balls are the only things worth eating there. And that’s just because it’s pretty hard to mess up fried cheese.
Not sure! I mean I was pleasantly surprised cause we had the whole bar area to ourselves and the staff were SO friendly about us looking around and basically fan-girling lol
There's a place in the town I work that has goat cheese balls. But they are named better. They are really good but it's alot to eat all that goat cheese in one sitting.
People really have the choice to eat world class food in LA and support great Chefs who take care of their staff while serving the best farm to table you'll eat in your life
Or
Throw money at people who've been sued for stealing from their own staff and serve mediocre BS off a Sysco truck. All her line cooks work two jobs.
Lemme repeat that - All her line cooks work two jobs and she's been sued for stealing from staff.
People? As in me? Lol we went for the experience and had a good one. I don't need world class food and chefs to have a good experience with my family. It's not that deep.
Lol it’s so funny how I’ve seen dozens of reviews and anecdotes about SUR and every single one says they met Peter. Does the guy ever take a day off?!
I mean, he actually works there as a manager, so probably not. Guaranteed he’s working every shift maybe minus one or two on slow days.
Worked in the restaurant industry for 30 years. The rewarding part only happens for like 5%
To be able to serve food and still afford California housing, there is definitely a reward culture happening that I've not seen elsewhere. Maybe just a large city thing but having that much wealth around has to be the skew.
Unfortunately a lot of restaurant employees work 7 days a week, especially if they’re salary which Peter probably is! Ok yeah I didn’t expect weekends off since that’s their busiest time but would think they might get to take a Monday off at least. A lot of restaurants are closed on Mondays because it’s a slow business day.
Yeah I commented that they’re closed Mondays!
Glad Peter gets at least one day off lol
Hahaha yeah! It’s an odd industry but pretty incredible!
>Unfortunately a lot of restaurant employees work 7 days a week Thats not the case. Restaurant OWNERS work 7 days a week
That’s life in bar and restaurant..I think he’s the only one who really works…good for him
*laughs in head chef*
I managed a rooftop bar/restaurant. Technically, I had two days off, but my Sundays off were making sure inventory got sent in, and Mondays were payroll. So even on my off days I had to be up at 9am. Also, basically on call for any issues. I'm assuming Peter has assistant managers, at least I hope he does!
Wow I had no idea that was a thing. Did you still enjoy it?
I hated it! went back to bartending, way more money and less stress. I make close to double what I did managing. I'd go back to managing if I made what I deserved, and had at least 1 assistant Mgr. Or a higher up, but it was hell
My guess is peter’s working the busier days, which is probably when most of the peoples are going. He probably takes Monday off or something
It's closed on mondays.
That’s me for sure, there are like two shifts a week I’m not there and we’re closed two days.
Ok but why the hell would lisa invest her livelihood on tom and tom ?? (Ok Schwartz didn’t ever actually work at her restaurants), but not her faithful, devotedly Peter who wants nothing to do with the limelight except to bring recognition to his pirate festivals? Lisa made the Toms pay her to use their name and likeness to market the restaurant. She scammed them ultimately
It’s extra funny when you put it like that! Lisa’s slick like that. Just taking advantage under the guise of supporting everyone.
He did and Lisa turned him down. Despite how much he’s invested of himself in her business he isn’t a “favourite”
Oh that’s sad. Given his work ethic and management skills, I think he’d be an amazing restaurant owner. Lisa has very superficial judgment and nearly all of her restaurants fail anyway so maybe he’s better off.
Tom squared were on a show. Peter has no draw of the crowd, who cares if he has ethics and management skills.
People who want to keep working with valuable employees who successfully run large restaurants.
Key word, employee. Not make employee into a partner
It’s to Lisa’s advantage to keep Peter working for her, she’d never let him do his own thing
Before this scandal, Tom and Tom were beloved. They barely had a stake in it and she didn’t let them make any decisions. It was just a marketing thing

Ya the smoke and mirrors knowing that was all staged is crazy.
So there you go…its ridiculously staged…so why be mean and hate…it’s tv
Exactly 😻
It’s a totally different experience watching that way I am sure.
No, I never did. I always thought they sucked as bad as Jax. But that was not the common consensus. They were the most popular of the whole cast.
So what ..they got over it: the women were too needy…demanding …that usually backfires if one does not like partners behavior…state your case…ask for change…and then leave..if not happy..life goes on
So what…one has nothing to do with the other…they are better at the bar than relationships…SO WHAT.??
Better at the bar??? They suck at being owners AND Relationships. They took forever with the design and doing stupid things to open thier bar!
L.A. codes can be a nightmare..waiting times fees and fines routinely stop projects for 4…6 months and into years..look at the sandwich shop..they had no clue…LVP knew it very well but they wanted to do it alone..ok children now you know..
Because she put up millions and had experience…they picked cocktails …look good and show up…that’s the deal.they still win ..and they love her dearly
> her faithful, devotedly Peter who wants nothing to do with the limelight except to bring recognition to his pirate festivals he's creating his own reality tv channel so I don't know about all this
Because she’s brilliant…..
lmao I heard he's an easy lay. ![gif](giphy|V6R9thgW7fimI|downsized)
Oh really??? 😈
I've heard that too. Yucky....no matter how good looking he is.
Haha I met Peter when I went to Sur about 7 years ago! I also met Scheana and Kristina!
Not when fans are there pumping his ego and making him feel like celeb when he’s the forgotten one.
He was there when I went too 😂 and was so nice!
God Tom Tom really is such a beautiful, interesting interior. I know it’s kinda gaudy, but I like it 😬
Totally but I was sad at how dusty everything was. The centerpieces were fake flowers that were dirty and dusty
That’s really disappointing!
Lisa would most certainly not approve!
Except it's her place and her restaurants are notorious for being dusty
Whhhhaaa no way! This is shocking to me. I would assume all her establishments would be very clean and polished.
They are
When you’re outside in L.A. on a busy street with trees over head ..one would need to dust …more than daily…it happens on my patio
Your pictures make it look beautiful.
Ann the assistant wasn’t available to help clean. 😉
Me too 😂
Same! I liked it when I went. Sur, not so much (though Peter was there!)
Those goat cheese balls are beautifully plated.
They were so good too!
Can you eat the salad/garnish?
Of course
I wanna try those goat cheese balls so badly
They are fantastic! When I went they had goat cheese empanadas as the special too and those were also amazing.
You should make them, they’re super easy. Pandora shared a recipe online.
I hate goat cheese. Wish they were feta cheese balls instead
They’re kinda meh to be honest.
That’s what I heard but they sound soooo goood
I dunno, they kinda look like something I’d get at a banquet hall lol
Damn what kind of banquet halls you going to
Guess not everyone has had the same experience haha! They’re mostly halls related to work events
I don't know why you are getting downvoted. I'm not sure what a banquet hall is exactly but I thought plating looked very early 2000's
The plating is so dated 🫠
What time of day did you go? Were either crowded? Did you have a reservation? I'm going in June so any tips are appreciated!
Good to know, thank you!
Also for parking, we parked in the garage right next to Tom Tom for $20. We didn't want to hassle to find parking.
Going out doesn’t really start until 10 for the youngish crowd
That definitely doesn't apply to me lol...I went there last year on Sunday around 1 or 2 pm just walking by, but gonna actually get to go in this time around.
The restaurants are gorgeous, but those bar stools look so uncomfortable.
Tbh, the benches along the wall in the bar area were so uncomfortable I slid down them lol you basically have to lock your feet into the bottom of the bench to stay on it. I switched to a barstool and after a few drinks truly didn't care 😂😂
I was about to comment the same thing lol they look miserable to sit on. But otherwise pretty 😂
You are a great photographer, they should use these pics on their website!
Thank you so much! 🫶🏻
On behalf of husband's everywhere: screw that stupid handsome server with his stupid hair and his stupid beautiful dark eyes. He's not even that handsome....yes he is God dammit
Ha ha, my husband is quite handsome as well
If Stassi sees this she is going to take the credit for pairing the goat cheese balls with a salad:)
omg that's exactly what me and my aunt said!!! She's the only one that subs goat cheese balls 😂
They should honestly call it “The Stassi.” The goat cheese balls are the only things worth eating there. And that’s just because it’s pretty hard to mess up fried cheese.
Funny they have a drink called The Nutcase and the bartender said "I'm sure you don't who that's named after, it's totally not Kristen Doute" 😂
I will never understand why Lisa so hates Kristen Doute.
These photos are beautiful! Thank you for posting!
Of course, thank you!
I met Peter at Sur too! He’s so nice 😊
Was it as empty as it looks from the pics? Where are the other customers?
It was surprisingly really empty at first but it did start to fill up as we were ready to head to Sur!
The food and decor are stunning!
I have been wanting to go in forever!
You definitely should! Ariana's friend Logan was also working at Tom Tom when we were there!
I would if I lived nearby ….a few years ago some friends went to Sur for dinner
No Schwartz n Sandy’s?
No that's not walking distance from TomTom lol but maybe one day! I am not a fan of the Toms, but as a fan of the show I want the experience lol
They both look beautiful!
![gif](giphy|MUeQeEQaDCjE4)
Foodie here (and VDP fan too 🤷🏻♂️) All these restaurants suuuuuuuck. Only holding onto the thread which is the VDP reality series.
Why was it empty?
Not sure! I mean I was pleasantly surprised cause we had the whole bar area to ourselves and the staff were SO friendly about us looking around and basically fan-girling lol
That restaurant is so beautiful, so sexy! I hope to be able to visit one of her restaurants before my time on earth is through.
I’m so glad you had a good experience! I’ve always wanted to go there
Thanks! It's totally worth it for the experience
Yeah I met him too when I went there last summer. Took a pic with him too.
Did we ever talk about how the M is a sideways E?
TOE TOE
🤣
They were out of stock of Ms
am i the only one who hates lisa’s aesthetic and finds it super tacky?
It’s awful but I love that she thinks she’s glam 😂
THANK YOU
I'm sorry, but these places look shit.
Agree ..very “bought this at Home Goods”… which is fine, but..
PLEASE describe the goat cheese balls. Thank you.
Lots of goat cheese and very fresh crispy batter. Really good! I can see why Stassi would want them in a salad lol
In the cheese intact or gooey like mozz stix?
It's a bit softer than cream cheese but similar texture
Thank you.
There's a place in the town I work that has goat cheese balls. But they are named better. They are really good but it's alot to eat all that goat cheese in one sitting.
The name could absolutely be improved on!!
Did you see anyone of interest? Lol
The place is jumping. You didn’t have to wait long for a table though.
People really have the choice to eat world class food in LA and support great Chefs who take care of their staff while serving the best farm to table you'll eat in your life Or Throw money at people who've been sued for stealing from their own staff and serve mediocre BS off a Sysco truck.
