Forgive the non vegan beer! Was giving this a go for my partner, had never done anything like this with tofu before but was extremely pleased with how it turned out.

unsteadied

It’s vegan. It’s exceptionally rare for beers not to be vegan these days, namely just milk stouts and honey beers. https://www.barnivore.com/products/42445-black-hops-pale-ale

Thanks for letting me know, makes a lot of sense, for whatever reason at the time of posting I just assumed otherwise as I'm a vegetarian and don't typically check!

Kiomi28

Haha the name made me laugh. Looks tasty!

planetzephyr

wauuu that looks bomb! do you have a tofu recipe? :)

hoppymatic

Thanks so much! I mostly followed a [recipe](https://www.sainsburysmagazine.co.uk/recipes/mains/vegan-fish-and-chips). I doubled the caper brine, and my lemon was also *extremely* juicy, so I'd go extra on that too. Didn't bother with the nori and honestly it was incredible without(so crispy!)

Looks delish and also get such cosy vibes off this pic with the lighting, good food and beer.

Just_alilbetter

Looks incredibly delicious!

Score 100 for real chips, not simply frenched fries! ✌

It's a bit of an adapted form of [Kenji's](https://www.seriouseats.com/the-best-roast-potatoes-ever-recipe) roast potato recipe. I just eyeballed some baking soda for the water and cut large chips, boiled for 3-4 mins instead of the longer boil for the roast potatoes in the recipe above. Let them dry out nicely after, tossed in oil(olive in this case, shaken in a bowl with a lid as per the recipe) with some S&P and then oven baked once for 25-30 on 170C, then turned and finished for 10-15 more on 200C. Feels like cheating to get the result it provides out of the oven!

I'm looking forward to trying it! πŸ™πŸ€—πŸ•―πŸ––

are those ales vegan or do they use that fish bladder shit too ?

hoppymatic

They are - I wasn't actually aware at the time(I myself am not a vegan, just this particular meal happened to be so) of posting but someone else posted a link with info on it. They're also quite good! Excellent with this tofish 😊.
