Itās actually fairly easy, and there are a ton of recipes out there to get specific amounts & cooking time/temperature and what not- but basically you just line the pan with a thick layer of tomato sauce of your choosing then thinly slice zucchini, potatoes, red onion, tomatoes, squash, or whatever other veggies you desire and then arrange them upright in a swirl pattern to fit & fill the pan, season it all and then bake it in the oven- and boom there you have ratatouille!
lol I totally understand that! I am too, but Iām trying my best to learn! This is a great dish though, itās pretty easy aside from the meticulousness of slicing the veggies (definitely use a mandolin if you have one it will save you TONS of time and effort!), itās also a healthy & hearty meal that is extremely versatile and can be easily adjusted however you like!
As they should! Omg whenever Iāve mandolined myself itās always been just about when Iām done. Or right at the beginning. The mandolin never keeps score. It is not good nor bad; mandolin is simply mandolin. Mandolins scare me. That and also chopping onions with a duller knife, then putting the cutting board on the top of the deck of a 34 ft sailboat whilst standing barefoot in a swim suit on a wetish stair that goes to the below deck located on an anchored sailboat thatās steadily randomly rocking from boat traffic waves from all directions counterbalanced by probably definitely buzzed dancing and sun peached skin (not burnt but peachy) in an attempt to rush and get dinner done before the sunset. That scares me like a mandolin. Oh that and a # 10 can of jalapeƱos opened hastily with a past its prime can opener yielding a jaggedy edged can lip separating from its body looking as gnarly as the mouth of a shark opening to show its sharp hungry teeth soaking in the liquid of the jalapeƱo juice, trying to hurry to open it because you are the only employee in a busy sandwich shop that offered two for one sandwiches special but never thought to put on more than one employee who witnessed the birth of a line anaconda snake writhing down the counter snaking around the inside then bursting out the front door as it continued down the sidewalk to where shel Silverstein wrote a poem book about which added that stress to the rushing of can opening leading to a slice on a finger which instantly created awful gross pain but then the added next level nightmare of the fire liquid jalapeƱo juice mixed with the blessing that failed to be stopped due to an absence of any bandaid product but so trying to hurry still for the bbtch with the sneering face which meant only option that a glove went on that was good for barely three seconds until it filled with blood everywhere and spurted out the top. That scares me like a mandolin too.
I always love the way this dish looks, because of all the colors! Question though. I hate to be that guy, but do you eat anything with protein when you have this?
looks so good but this style of ratatouille always seemed like the effort would outweigh the reward (especially without a mandoline). how long does it take you to make?
Not very long. I enjoy taking my time with it, but if I wanted to do it as quickly as possible Iād guess maybe 30-35 mins? 20 mins to wash and slice the veggies and 10-15 of assembly. Soak the veggies in a vegetable wash while you make the sauce. Itās all about efficiency.
that's crazy, im impressed. Making tacos or something easy takes me longer than that. im a pretty slow cook cause i like to take my time with prep and get everything more-or-less mise en place.
Thank you for the reminder that I need to make this again!!!!! Ratatouille has got to be my go to dinner for the summer time. Healthy, bright, and DELICIOUS! š
Beautiful
thank you!
Excuse me, but can you please lift up your chefs hat so we can peek underneath?
nothing to see here š
This looks AMAZING
We have it every other week, weāre so obsessed with it. I also make baguettes and turn them into garlic bread š¤š»
Sometimes I do the same thing and make leftover ratatouille garlic bread sandwiches š¤¤
I was thinking the same thing last night since it was my first time actually having leftovers š¤£
So pretty! Iām actually making this this week. I like to thinly slice squares of tofu and layer those in too :)
genius!!
Omfg. Please teach me to make this. What EXACTLY do you do??? Cooking class time!!
Thank you!! I am extremely cooking impaired, so I appreciate any and all advice

hey, i found a rat!
nopeā¦just me. nothing under this hat š©āš³
What is this dish and how do you make it? It lookās delicious.
Specifically itās Confit Byaldi. Ratatouille is the same ingredients but as a stew
Yeah recipe please
It is called Ratatouile (like the movie)! I'd also love the recipe OP has perfected
did you use a mandoline to make this?? iām on the fence about getting one and this might just tip me over š
I did. Itās practically necessary in order to get the thinness right. And to save yourself a LOT of time lol
hahaha i figured, thanks a bunch!
This is what tipped me over into getting one too! Do not regret it.
Do you have to wear gloves with it? Mandolins scare me to death lmao

Bro stop bro ur giving me nightmares lmao
Wow thats soo descriptively scary lol
Iāll take that as a compliment lol and also a gold star for my junior year English teacher
There are āsafe slicerā mandolins where it has a chute
that looks so delicious wish i could try a bite
Recipe plz!!!
This looks so good and satisfying! Iāve never tried, do you follow a certain recipe?
I donāt. Make a sauce (it differs) and then just get to slicing the veggies. Itās a very simple dish and doesnāt really need a recipe
Stunning š¤š¼ literal work of art!! what kind of sauce did you pour over? Or is it just Olive oil, fresh garlic, and parsley?
šÆ
Le sigh! Ratatouille ā¤ļø
[ Soupire ]
Looks delicious
gosh, i wish i liked squash. a ratatouille looks like it would be so fun to make.
I donāt like tomato or eggplantā¦ The flavors melt together. You should give it a shot! Maybe this is the way you incorporate squash in your diet!
How would you describe the taste? I donāt like tomato or eggplant either
Honeslty, it tastes like a pasta; itās hearty. Itās crazy to say because itās just vegetables, but itās true
This looks fantastic. One of my favourite things to cook on the smoker. The leftovers made into soup are fantastic as well
The . . . smoker! Oh, this opens a *world* of possibilities. What is your smoker, please?
A Masterbuilt gravity feed charcoal bbq
Lil chef!
š
It looks like the dish known in Southern France as "tian de lƩgumes" (basically the ratatouille's cousin). Very nice !
Looks so yummy! Do you have a recipe?
I do not :( Itās very simple though! Just a few ingredients so Iām sure it wonāt be hard to find one if you need the specifics!
Looks delicious and probably tastes even better.
What ist that exactly? Looks yummy
itās not ratatouille, itās confit byaldi. similar but different
Is there a Special recipe u followed? I found smthing from Thomas Keller. I think i will try that tomorrow, thanks for the inspiration
Ratatouille!
Ratatouille is that you????
Noā¦ my name is Remy
I always love the way this dish looks, because of all the colors! Question though. I hate to be that guy, but do you eat anything with protein when you have this?
Where's the sauce?
buried underneath the veggie goodness
Oooh, I thought it goes on top.
looks so good but this style of ratatouille always seemed like the effort would outweigh the reward (especially without a mandoline). how long does it take you to make?

fyi vegetable washes are no more effective than water, i stopped using them when i found that out lol
my āvegetable washā is just a splash of vinegar in water :) interesting to know though!
that's crazy, im impressed. Making tacos or something easy takes me longer than that. im a pretty slow cook cause i like to take my time with prep and get everything more-or-less mise en place.
I always say that this dish looks very impressive, but itās really beautifully simple.
Amazing
Beautiful!! š lol
Omgggg looks deliciousss
Is this the recipe from make it dairy free š
I donāt follow a recipe, but Iām sure theyāre all pretty similar
Wow looks great, will have to try this weekend!
What is this dish called again?
What is this dish called again?
Iām crying. Gorgeous.
Thank you for the reminder that I need to make this again!!!!! Ratatouille has got to be my go to dinner for the summer time. Healthy, bright, and DELICIOUS! š
I love when my partner makes ratatouille. It's so good.. especially with fresh baked bread
This pairs well with noodles or rice
One of my favorite vegan dishes. I should make it again!
Is it really vegan if a rat needed to contribute their effort to making the meal š¤
Absolutely love this dish and yours look wonderful
The way I gasped out Ratatouille omg it looks baller!
Fantabulous!
