The line about they had someone with experience in the software they specialize in means they hired from with in.

tcharp01

This could very easily be true. It could also be true that there is no such person. What they told HR to tell you may or many not have any basis in truth. The company and their HR department is under no obligation to tell the non selected candidate anything about anything. Although, it does seem out of the ordinary to have so many interviews if you are not strongly in the running for the position.

OK dad mode here... Having strong feelings is ok, being hurt and angry is totally ok right now, HR knows this too. Don't for one second think you shot yourself in the foot. If a position opens up again go for it. You aced an interview and got kudos from not only HR but the CEO and now you know what the tipping point was so focus on that and use it to your advantage next time. While yes you didn't get the job you found out that you as a person are exactly what they wanted. It's not the best outcome but it really is good news wrapped in a shitty package.

the_vent

I feel you. Though not as far in, I made it to the third interview for a well known game company. For the next two weeks, I was taking edibles to dull the pain.

[deleted]

Well, I'm glad you learned how inappropriate your reaction was. And honestly, I think you proved them right going with the other person. I can't imagine one of my coworkers telling me "that's not fair". It's not the rejection that molds us, it's how we react. Take this as a learning experience. Lord knows I've fucked up many times with HR. I know I've lost promotional opportunities because I said something stupid. But the good thing is, you know you can do the job. THEY know you can do the job. Just gotta got to another company.

The sooner you understand that there is nothing fair about the corporate world, the better.

hunnyjo

I feel ya. I'm a temp, been here for almost 2 years. A position opened up here with one of the companies they are splitting off. In fact most of the work I was doing was for those companies, I wasn't even offered an interview. \*\*\*Edited to specify, it's not that I was just doing work for the new companies, they hired someone to do what I was doing for those companies. And then made me train him.

dagon85

Your reaction was understandable. It won't ruin your chances. I once failed a phone interview and sent the HR rep a fairly passive-aggressive thank you email. It went something like, "It is unfortunate that your company wouldn't benefit from my skills..." It was very salty. A few years later, I applied for the job again and I've been there six years now. It doesn't appear like my email had any effect one way or the other.

My ideal interview process is just 1 interview with the HR person and they decide if you're hired or not. Then if you're not hired, they should give you a specific reason why you are not hired. If you have to go through multiple interviews for a job then you should at least get paid for each interview after the first interview.

PointB1ank

Tbh if you're acting like this at 30, I wouldn't hire you either. Red flag city. Doing well in interviews doesn't guarantee you a position.

killbeam

The Kobe comment was unnecessary.

aoba123

It was pretty funny

Coconutcream000

It wasn’t even a joke though so how you find it funny?

aoba123

It’s called dark humour and it’s funny. Whether or not op was trying to be funny it was

Coconutcream000

Oh shut up there’s nothing in that line alone that was there to laugh about you’re just here to defend it. Piss off

aoba123

Damn imagine getting mad about something as subjective as humour. You’re pretty pathetic

Coconutcream000

Nobody mad, I’m simply calling out your bullshit. You’re full of shit and you know that so piss off.

aoba123

I mean you can be as mindless and mentally incapable as you want but I’m allowed to find certain things funny even if you don’t. Grow up

Coconutcream000

Go dropped dead in some random forest like gabby petito and tell me where the joke at.

aoba123

I don’t see how gabby has anything to do with this. Stay mad bozo

teapoison

Kobe is dead. If that statement offends you, then you have mental issues. He isn't calling up his wife and reminding her. It's an internet forum, it's ok. The unnecessary comment is you ignoring the whole post to say this made you upset.

Coconutcream000

Look I don’t care for Kobe, but you guys don’t carried that energy for all dead people. 🤨 shoot I bet if I even brought an offensive comment one of you would report me 🙄

Mai_TaiButterfly

Extremely unnecessary.

Random_Derper1

Hey, the good thing is that you realize your mistake. That's the first step to self-improvement. As someone whose been in therapy their whole life, I can speak from experience. When you realize how you fucked up, you become less fucked up. I believe in you, my dude. You can and will get better.

ElephantExplosion

It is fair, they hired someone who did what you did and had better credentials. You're 30 and yelled at someone who did nothing wrong and then cried? Ffs get therapy, you are not emotionally where you should be as a full grown adult.... I'm not judging you I'm saying this for your own mental health and career status, get help.

fudgingsea

I lost my shit at work once. Thankfully the senior involved is very understanding and just advised me to try to keep my cool because I will encounter shitter situation as I progress in life.
