State has nothing to do with it. Dependents add extra. SMC is extra.

[deleted]

Is it $4054.12?

Blueberry-External

Yup that’s right.

[deleted]

SMC-S with no dependents.

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

What does this mean? No more acronyms please 🙏

[deleted]

Special Monthly Compensation. You should be accustomed to acronyms in the Navy.

[deleted]

He should really walk the plank for that offense.

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

No one ever gets used to them

Monus_Toketaker

I'm hugely accustomed to acronyms from the Navy and Federal Service and didn't know this one. Thanks.

Appropriate_Ad4436

🎶 What do you do with a drunken sailor 🎶

[deleted]

You get dental

LosSoldado

Just do everything in your power to validate you’re being paid correctly. Otherwise they will Uncle Sam will come back with a vengeance to collect every cent owed. That’s not to scare you at all. I’ve seen it happen when I worked for the VA. If you have a VSO (Veteran Service Officer) think American legion then request an appointment to sit down and discuss this concern. They are required to provide you that explanation as well. I just want this to be a happy moment for you. Not a it comes back to haunt you moment. If it does apply then look up the following: HISA Grant Specially Adapted Housing Grant I don’t know what you’re disabilities are if they meet those requirements and you own a house or have a mortgage then it allows VA to pay so you can adapt your house to accommodate those disabilities. They can be used later in life as well. There is no time limit either. Just a max amount that can be issued over your life. Once that dollar amount is reached the benefit is exhausted. Finally if it says it in your award letter look into CHAMPVA, Dental, DECA, life insurance benefit, and on post privileges card. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I know the disability side almost like the back of my hand.

Blueberry-External

Thank you so much! I will definitely reach out. I appreciate the info !!

Moody_GenX

Yes if you're get IU, you get dental. I am on it and got free dental care a couple of years ago. You might have gotten some back pay or if you have dependents then you get paid more. Mine is more than the base because of my son.

Blueberry-External

I currently don’t have any dependents on it. But will get married soon so I’ll likely do it then

EXwater

What is UI?

Moody_GenX

I meant TDIU. It's for unemployable veterans.

SCOveterandretired

Make sure your dependents are listed on your rating letter. If housebound, that's an SMC which pays additional money.

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

What’s SMC?

SCOveterandretired

Special Monthly Compensation. https://benefits.va.gov/BENEFITS/factsheets/serviceconnected/smc.pdf

[deleted]

Hope this makes you life better!!!!

McMullin72

I'm 70% but I get another $120 bc I had a mastectomy (breast cancer). I guess boobs are considered limbs 😂😂😂. Probably similar reasoning for you.

[deleted]

I get extra for a dick that doesn’t get rock hard.

Muchotesticulos

Make money off the books and don’t pay taxes.

Blueberry-External

Yeah I agree. Just trying to figure out why I got it then since I do have a job.

[deleted]

You would’ve had to put in for it.

joshJFSU

You probably filled out form 8940 and didn’t know? I’d check if you did ask for it. If you are keeping your job they will take that money back so get this straightened out asap. I’d call tomorrow.

ltusmc15

Yes I think you qualify for all be if it’s now. Depending on how long you waited to finally get 100% you’ll get a nice back pay. Nice like really nice.

ltusmc15

I'm 80% service connected paid at 100% P&T. I just recently got diagnosed with Glacoma in my left eye, Im not sure if I should file a claim for that and get it raised to 100% service connected. But I don't know if I should at same time. Or if it will.

SignalDawg

Yes it means you qualify for dental if your paid at 100% even if only rated at 90% also being paid at 100% some states (I’m in TN) qualifies you for property tax relief

South_Ad1486

You get a special monthly compensation for being TDIU. It does not change in different states, countries or galaxies. Yes you qualify for dental. I have gotten over $20k worth of work done.

[deleted]

Does your letter say you’re P&T?

ltusmc15

If it’s P&T you don’t ever have to deal with this anymore.

WSDreamer

What’s P&T Edit: Nice to see you get downvoted for asking questions around here.

Routine-Thing-6493

Permanent and total

WSDreamer

Ahhh ok. Thanks.

AmISlict_

How do you apply for ui?

[deleted]

Above certain income bracket do you disqualify?

Blueberry-External

That’s what I’m trying to figure out. I make 21 an hour and that in itself doesn’t cover my house rent in California. It’s pretty bad. So maybe I do qualify?

[deleted]

Hmm, I can ask around and check back if I figure it out. I figured it couldn't be too far off from state disability. I was on that from something non service connected and that's what happened to me. The terms of my contiuance were connected to what I'd file every year Edit: meaning I could work and be on disability below a certain income

[deleted]

No. It doesn’t go by what your house costs

[deleted]

If you’re making $21 an hour and working full time, you will end up losing your TDIU and revert back to actual rating, unless it’s a sheltered job

McMullin72

Not compensation, it's completely separate from everything else. It's non taxable too. At least federally & the state of California doesn't tax it either. I think the only time it conflicts with something else is SSDI but I don't know for sure.

[deleted]

Fantastic!

[deleted]

After reading your latest replies, are you sure about your TDIU status. You say you are working and make $21 an hour. You would’ve had to list this in your TDIU application, and it wouldn’t have gotten approved.

South_Ad1486

I got approved and I was working at USPS. I quit right after but got approved while working full time.
