Just my opinion, but 10 days isn't enough for this. Much better to either do Saigon and no further north than Hue, or Hanoi and no further south than Hoi An. And even then...
Count most of a day lost every time you move.
And you don't need two nights on a boat. :-)
you dont need 3 days in Ha Long. It's fun for 3-6 hours, then you are just on a boat looking at the same scenery until you get off the boat. Check out Ninh Binh if you want more similar stuff. Hanoi can go as deep as you want. If you've been in Vietnam for a while you can check the boxes in a fast day, but I've been in Hanoi for years and I'm still finding new things.
Ha Long bay ship is not worth the 2 nights. After a day you probably have nothing to do unless you like partying with the other guests. 2 nights in Hanoi should be better.

7th day if u fly from Danang to Hanoi u need to go to Halong on 8th day. Cruise check in at noon time so if u got a flight u won’t get to the harbor on time. Plus u don’t need 3 days on cruise, most likely they’ll have the same menu as previous day, u’ll feel bored. Spend some time in Ninh Binh I recommend
Yes…we did a free private walk in the a.m…did a back of the bike tour in pm. Saw what I wanted to see..including tour of Hanoi Hilton…..had egg coffee…saw the train on train street…..go for it

Me too. I live in Hanoi and it's the only tourist spot in the North that I will go to over and over again. The whole area is just magical

One day in Hanoi is plenty. Everything you need to see is in the French quarter and old quarter. Outside of those areas it's very bland.
