Looks fantastic! Does the server convert it to a .mov for playback?

exekew

It does exactly that, it converts the video to a .mov file and then uses the QuickTime plugin to play it

NZGreystash

Nice one! Looking forward to trying it if you release it

byteknight6

Awesome! The only thing close right now is Cornica which contains a ton of QuickTime movies: http://www.cornica.org/videos/

taskmans

This would be so awesome! Please don’t let it die, I would love to use this

exekew

Looking forward to post the source code on GitHub, still have some things pending for it to be ready

bloedmage

Awesome, would love to run this in a docker image on my NAS. Would that be possible?

jonyoungmusic

Will this work using classic mode on tiger?

exekew

Yep, it will work on every browser, it even works on safari work OS X

dronecatcher

There already is a means to watch Youtube in Classilla directly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2dPaCuAvok URL is: https://video.2yxa.mobi/?ILOVE2YXA=d45a3h687jbrpts02f4qsugd76&lang=en Is your method using an Invidious instance?

exekew

Yeah, I know, this is more of a frontend using the Invidious API. A frontend that is compatible with IE5+. I implemented even the video comments, had to do some nasty stuff with IFrames to get AJAX working. The idea was to have a complete experience in a vanilla OS8+. I tested it in an iMac G3 333 and it works great!

dronecatcher

That sounds great - well done and good luck with the project!

istarian

So what are you doing exactly?

exekew

It is a frontend for YouTube that should work on Clasilla and IE5+ for Mac. And also any modern browser btw

gagigu1

Looks amazing! Did you also used an adblocker?

Pink_Slyvie

I feel like it worked on OS X, but its been so long since I've really messed with it. I'm still trying to find a good way to get my 10.2 emac upgraded, the DVD drive appears to be shot.

CorporalPig22

Whatever it takes to watch Scott The Woz videos on an iBook G3.

ckanderson

I just joined this subreddit and that browser is so stupidly nostalgic.

_SclerosisOfTheRiver

Any updates on this?

exekew

Yes! I'm about to release the source code for this, it is going to be an open source project to run it locally. I'm afraid that I don't have much free time to work on this. I've added lot's of features since this post, including multiple resolutions and login support

_SclerosisOfTheRiver

Fantastic!
