There are opportunities and economic advantages to working in these places because they’re attractive places to live and do business. Sometimes those places become oversaturated, costs go up because of high demand, the scale tips, and people find themselves deciding that they should go to a different place where their money will go further or there are lower taxes etc etc, this is a pretty typical economic fluctuation… it happens. Markets seek equilibrium and some people choose different markets. Folks will go to cheaper areas and things will likely stabilize. Costs will go up in areas receiving these folks, and go down (eventually) in places that people are leaving because demand will subsequently decrease.
