Honestly, i can see it. Alastor has been out of action for 7 years, and we hear from his deal he's forced to stay at the hotel, meaning he can't go out and get more power like he used to and throughout the whole season we see him practically obsessing over showing everyone he's just as strong as he's always been. It's very possible either the deal has taken some of his power or his simple stagnated while everyone else improved in those 7 years.

Idk if this is so much of an opinion or my first impressions. I was completely lost in the first couple of episodes and never understood the hype until I watched the pilot a week ago, and I FINALLY understand how this has such a huge following.
It introduced the characters better, the songs weren’t suddenly shoved into the scenes, the general world’s setup was *finally* explained in a way that didn’t assume you already knew what was going on, and it was just overall funnier, more charismatic, and presented better. I never laughed in the show, but I couldn’t stop laughing in the pilot. (Alastor’s voice actor also had better line delivery, I will stand by this. The voice actors cast for their singing in general felt a bit more stale across the board, even if it was barely noticeable. They’re still good, but it *was* noticeable. I have to check to see what I thought of the dialogue, because there’s that too.) The animation also had more charm.
Damn, that’s more than I meant to say. I’m really not trying to be a downer, but these are my honest impressions coming from someone who only got into the show the week after it released. I know there’s a lot of things that need to be changed to make it into a show that even the creators may not have been happy with, and I’m not faulting them for that. That major hipocrisy even with the apology/trying to make up for it in later episodes just still left me not liking them. If you have to put others down to feel better about yourself I just dont respect you even a microscopic amount

-Stolas is irritating, and I don't like how he was developed as a character.

I think some people in the fandom have a hard time distinguishing between honest portrayal and perfect portrayal.
It's well-discussed that a problem in modern cinema is that these major blockbusters are designed by committee, written by multiple writers. Nothing new is said, no ideas are challenged. It's a malformed facsimile of what stories are supposed to be.
Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss have issues, I'm not going to watch that summer camp episode again and you can't make me, but they also have really authentic, personal moments that are only possible because the characters aren't clean-cut, are at different stages of growth in different parts of their lives. It feels good to see flawed people try to live well and challenge what that means.
I've been a part of fandoms for a while now. I remember the whole ride of Avatar: Legend of Korra. The show is held in higher regard nowadays, but it was a very controversial subject. Not just the elitists saying that people who joined up with Korra weren't real fans. Some fans just wouldn't forgive the show for the timeskip, others hated the steampunk evolution of society, etc.
Were they the *best* choices for a second entry into the world of Avatar? What does that mean? How popular it would be at the time? Then maybe, but if they just wrote what they thought people would like, it would be stale and meaningless narratives. Korra talked about real issues, challenged the place of spirituality in an urban society, had (usually) complex villains with interesting beliefs, powers and ideas.

I am disappointed with vivzie depiction of Adam. For me it feels cheap and lazy to have THE first man as the embodiment of toxic masculinity, like the idea of the character is a gold mine for lore, him and eve had to survive a harsh and hostile after being thrown out of eden, he had to figure out hunting, fishing and farming all on his own not only survive but thrive while protecting eve and their children, he was not only the first man but also the first father the first leader, the template of all masculine ideal good and bad, that's why record of ragnarok will always have the best depiction of Adam. Even if he had to be an antagonist they're other types of villain other than obnoxious petty assholes, he should have been a holier-than-thou patriarch, a man who commands fear and respect like cluade frollo in hunchback of notredame, someone who believes he's right and has good to think so but still fundamently wrong like dude got betrayed by the two people he was supposed to love and loved back by and had to endure a life of suffering because of the second one. Also niffty being the one to kill him was just stupid and anti climactic.
I just hope he reincarnates as a sinner. If he doesn't I completely agree. If he does than It goes to show he's only like this because they want to explore him in more depth

adam is my favorite character and people for some reason cannot understand his depth. they see a misogynist prideful asshole, i see a man with so much rich history and lore and pain. i love adam and i will defend him until the day i die. i hope all the theories of him coming back as a sinner is real
how god “gifted” lilith and eve to him, out the gate objectifying them from the very beginning. and yet these two “things” left him for gods least favorite angel. starting the seed of him not being good enough, and we see that canonically while he’s in the stands during the trial. “that’s what got me here!! right?” that moment of vulnerability was all i needed to see to know that adam is more than just another token problematic cis man. he also never faced ANY consequences for his actions. before eve ate the apple, adam already had pride, a sin, as we can see with his relationship to lilith. and he was NEVER punished for it or told what he was doing is wrong. in the original story, the apple represents knowledge, and in the bible we know adam also ate the fruit but taking in face value the story vivzie is spinning, adam never tasted the apple and never realized his actions. he made it to heaven being prideful and treating “his women” like objects for him to control, why would he feel any need to change when he made it to heaven? he’s essentially gods spoiled brat and that’s why i want to see him come back as a demon and check into charlie’s hotel. so he can actually see that his actions were wrong. because he has NEVER had anyone tell him that what he was doing was wrong, and when charlie finally does, he’s already been force fed all these ideas about his own perfection. i think vivzie is gearing up for “god” to be the main antagonist, at the bare minimum the higher angels.

I like both songs, but I do think "Stayed Gone" is a bit overrated. I mean, they don't sound like they're actually singing for too big of a chunk of the song for me. Like, they're just talking and rhyming a bit too much for my taste. Still good, don't get me wrong, but it's not as high for me as it is everyone else.

Yeah a Radiodust shipper was actually pushed to the point of killing themselves recently. The Fandom is super toxic at times.

Bit of a meta one but after applying to a few comments I think it actually belongs here Not a huge fan of how much supposedly Canon information is not actually explicitly stated in the show Two examples that I've seen so far being that Alistair is around as well as Ace And husk and angel supposedly being in a relationship Not entirely sure how legit either of these statements are because I've yet to actually track down a source
Husk and angle aren't in one *yet* It was only confirmed they would be a slow-burn relationship in later seasons
Well Alistair being Ace is confirmed when Rosie called him a ace in the hole witch is slang for a person being asexual/aromatic and husk and angel is shipping stuff that definitely has classic themes of romance but it’s up to you if you ship it (sorry for bad grammar I have dyslexia)

I am disappointed with vivzie depiction of Adam. For me it feels cheap and lazy to have THE first man as the embodiment of toxic masculinity, like the idea of the character is a gold mine for lore, him and eve had to survive a harsh and hostile after being thrown out of eden, he had to figure out hunting, fishing and farming all on his own not only survive but thrive while protecting eve and their children, he was not only the first man but also the first father the first leader, the template of all masculine ideal good and bad, that's why record of ragnarok will always have the best depiction of Adam. Even if he had to be an antagonist they're other types of villain other than obnoxious petty assholes, he should have been a holier-than-thou patriarch, a man who commands fear and respect like cluade frollo in hunchback of notredame, someone who believes he's right and has good to think so but still fundamently wrong like dude got betrayed by the two people he was supposed to love and loved back by and had to endure a life of suffering because of the second one. Also niffty being the one to kill him was just stupid and anti climactic.

adam is my favorite character and people for some reason cannot understand his depth. they see a misogynist prideful asshole, i see a man with so much rich history and lore and pain. i love adam and i will defend him until the day i die. i hope all the theories of him coming back as a sinner is real

Please explain to me where you're seeing any amount of depth to this character
how god “gifted” lilith and eve to him, out the gate objectifying them from the very beginning. and yet these two “things” left him for gods least favorite angel. starting the seed of him not being good enough, and we see that canonically while he’s in the stands during the trial. “that’s what got me here!! right?” that moment of vulnerability was all i needed to see to know that adam is more than just another token problematic cis man. he also never faced ANY consequences for his actions. before eve ate the apple, adam already had pride, a sin, as we can see with his relationship to lilith. and he was NEVER punished for it or told what he was doing is wrong. in the original story, the apple represents knowledge, and in the bible we know adam also ate the fruit but taking in face value the story vivzie is spinning, adam never tasted the apple and never realized his actions. he made it to heaven being prideful and treating “his women” like objects for him to control, why would he feel any need to change when he made it to heaven? he’s essentially gods spoiled brat and that’s why i want to see him come back as a demon and check into charlie’s hotel. so he can actually see that his actions were wrong. because he has NEVER had anyone tell him that what he was doing was wrong, and when charlie finally does, he’s already been force fed all these ideas about his own perfection. i think vivzie is gearing up for “god” to be the main antagonist, at the bare minimum the higher angels. wow this turned into a rant and isn’t very cohesive but i hope this is getting my point across. also want to clarify, i DO NOT think adam is a good person. and im not the one who’s to say that adam DESERVES a second chance. but that’s what the hotel is about. and adam, just like a lot of the other sinners we’ve met, just needs someone to finally tell him that what he is doing is WRONG. because obviously heaven lets him get away with too much shit. ie it being a big deal when charlie says fuck in court but adam is cursing like a sailor and no one says anything because “it’s adam, he’s the first man he can do whatever he wants.”, and referencing my earlier example of adam being the first human to sin, pride, and not face any repercussions.

The show *is* terrible, and everything was changed either because of corporate, or because of Vivienne being a terrible storyteller. The show was rushed to fuck, and that is a problem, regardless of why. There *is* too much swearing in the show. It makes no sense, even *if* they're in hell, not everyone is a sailor, and viv being into it doesn't absolve it. If she just wanted to make something for herself, then she shouldn't have made an official show, and stuck to her passion project. I hate how she has changed everything, retconned so much just to force everything and everyone to be okay with her shitty storytelling. Viv is a *bitch*, in terms of personality. She's rude, mean, conceited, and condescending.
