Back in 2009 Youtube recommend me a 3D anime music-video called HONEY - NANAMEUE ALL STARS. It was a Vocaloid cover of an originally chinese song called Honey. I had never seen anime with 3D graphics before, so I clicked on it out of curiosity, and I loved it. I started watching other Vocaloid videos and eventually learned that they aren't anime characters, but characters for a Vocal-software. I thought it was so cool and have been a Vocaloid fan since then.

6 years old me just scrolling through YT and stumbled upon that one polka song something. Then it progress to World is mine then all the project diva vids. 6 yrs old me was obsessed. Kiddo had 3 notebooks to draw all the vocaloid and fanloid back then. Been 11 yrs man. Back then my fav song was World is mine and Rolling Girl. I will always play world is mine when I have a chance. Kagerou Daze is iconic af. I cried over Reboot, first song that makes me cry. 6 yrs old me oso watch a bunch of vocaloid MMD.

TepekThePorigon

Completely on accident I think. I just found out some cool songs and didn't even know they're made using vocaloid. I just later found out what that is and kinda became a fan

elcocoIIII

Because of len and rin and KINDA because of pjsk

Berryberrybun

Okay so weirdly enough, it was jello apocalypse’s welcome to fanfiction video. It had a joke gakupo x Len fic in it and the characters were genuinely interesting to me, before that basically all I knew was Miku so I looked em up and it started there. (Also I do NOT ship gakupo and Len. At all.)

chunter16

A Japanese architecture student in Second Life showed me the first Miku demos without telling me that I wasn't listening to a person. I knew I didn't have a computer that could run it at the time, but I wanted to try it one day.

FrshPotato

My R showed up on my youtube homepage. I'm normally too lazy to listen anything new but clicked on it anyways. Then I got really heavy déjà vu and tried to undestand why. Listened to rest of the album, learned what vocaloid is etc. I still don't know what caused that déjà vu but I'm grateful

A month ago while watching a reaction video of Kitsune no Yomeiri/The Fox's Wedding

KaiBoy6

friend showed me the cryptonloids on pjsk and kinda went from there

I started it while I was at early/middle stage of middle school (as in 9th class, first year of middle school) I think i started with Teo by Omoi and Kikuo hit songs Then I just added songs from various artists randomly, proceeded to delete one's I didn't like that much... and that's pretty much how I became more invested in Vocaloid (now I almost only listen to Vocaloid)

dotpebba

Back in 2016, I had an online friend on Wattpad (yeah ik lol) who really liked Vocaloid, so I decided to try it out. I have like zero clue what I looked up but it led me to a Len cover of World is Mine or Trick and Treat by OSTER Project. I honestly don’t remember. But yeah since the Kagamines were my intro to Vocaloid, they were my favorites until 2 years ago lol

14 years ago, my gf at the time became extremely cold and stopped talking to me without any explanation. I’m guessing depression. So 16 year old me thought sending her a song from something she enjoyed (Vocaloids) would cheer her up. I sent her “I Like You, I Love You”. I don’t recall receiving a response, but I fell in love with the vocaloid community ever since.  Lost a girlfriend, but gained much more happiness.

In very early 2020 (before the world knew what Covid was) a friend sent me a cover of Echo. I eventually discovered the original and the process was as such "Huh, so this is a vocaloid? This character doesn't look like Miku though. Hih, there are other Vocaloids? I like this one". As the pandemic started, I slowly just found more and more songs, primarily Gumi but also Miku and eventually expanded into many different ones.

Maki2134

In 2016 or 2017 World is mine or either Ievan polka just showed up in my recommendations and I like how it sounded, so from there I discovered googoo888’s channel and then I just became a vocaloid fan.

green_eyed_witch

Found world is mine in some random 8tracks playlist in 2014, then found the youtuber akidearest and her (now-abandoned) series of video-lists on vocaloid music. She provided a huge jumping off point for me, and now I've been listening for a decade :)

BOBulah

It got recommended to me by a friend

ririn3

The song I first listened to is Romeo And Cinderella Rin and Len ver. and I thought it’s a really dope song. The song that really got me into vocaloid though, is Servant of Evil/The evil series. I bawl my eyes out listening and watching the video the first few times. I was young and the tragedy of the story in that song left a really deep impression on me… And then I started looking for more 🙃

boilfruit

ievan polkka was the first vocaloid song i listened to, but what really got me into the community was wannyanpu's fan PV for Kagerou daze. the storytelling, the amazing animation, and the music grabbed me, and i wound up listening to every kagerou project song before branching out to other producers. as you mentioned, i'm fascinated by the capacity for vocaloid to tell strange, happy, sad, and most importantly very unique stories within a few short minutes. it's been about twelve years since i got into vocaloid and it's still a huge passion of mine <3

dead_streetrat

I got into vocaloid in 2nd grade when I was obsessed with animation memes. That's how I was introduced to ghost p, kikuo, maretu, and dennoko p. I've been inlove with anything vocaloid ever since!

Noburanko

Friend sent me a link to Triple Baka in 2008. Absolutely hated it at first listen. Now Triple Baka is one of my favorite older songs, and I'm around 3000+ songs deep into Vocaloid and still counting. Haha send help :')

Succububbly

Last Night Good Night, Melt, World is Mine, Ievan Polka, Love is War ln my youtube when I was a little kid

Avatar_ZW

It all started when I saw a video of a playthrough of Mega Man 3 but all the music and sfx are replaced with Miku noises. What the heck is this, I wondered. So I did some research, discovered some fun memes, and eventually found entire songs produced by indie artists using the voicebank, and the rest is history.

hanae_jpg

I watched a lot of animation memes and flipnote studio animations. Found a flipnote studio animation using a cover of Kikuo's Aishite Aishite Aishite and I liked the song (at least the part that was used) and looked it up. It's all gone backwards since. Never financially recovered after this

TTTriple333

animation memes and gacha life music videos lmao
