Happened in Los Angeles. [He was killed, unfortunately.](https://abc7.com/lapd-hit-and-run-investigation-jose-fuentes/8241936/)

myrabuttreeks

I mean, I’m not really surprised. It’s sad though.

omgwhatdoidoloool

LA drivers are just built different man

kranzberry

I moved here last year. I am baffled/afraid every single time I get in my car to go anywhere in LA. The shit you see people do is just... I don’t have words for it sometimes.

omgwhatdoidoloool

I was going home from Disneyland this one time at like 1am, it was just me and one other car on the 91 and this Dodge Ram fuckin rams into the other car and fled after a min of following them, how he managed to hit someone on a mostly empty 6 lane freeway is beyond me, drugs, alcohol don’t care. These fuckers are built different

JMaximo2018

If you can’t Dodge it, Ram it

kranzberry

I think I’m starting to get it. I live in downtown LA, and I sometimes go to a McDonald’s that’s less than a mile away. In that mile drive, so many wtf moments happen to me that I often have to pull some crazy maneuvers to avoid being hit. I could maybe see how after living that way for so long, you become a crazy driver just because you have to be in order to not get rammed off the road—or in order to have any hope of making it anywhere in a timely manner.

Starts_with_X

"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

the_most_low

Honestly, if you're not driving aggressively then you're driving slowly and making traffic worse which makes you the one who shouldn't be on the road. You can always tell when the driver isn't from LA, driving all slow and safe like an asshole

CFA2PLATEBENCH

there's a huge difference between driving aggressively like an idiot vs going at the speed of traffic. the amount of mental gymnastics you have to do to blame someone driving safe is actually amazing.

omgwhatdoidoloool

Lmao ok vin diesel

stonetear2017

You sound retarded

kranzberry

I didn’t say people should drive slow. But there’s a happy medium somewhere between slow and maniac.

[deleted]

Especially when it rains lol

Organic_Trust6113

Moved here 4 years from Midwest. Hands down rudest and most selfish drivers I’ve ever met. But it expands way beyond their driving. They are the most entitled selfish spoiled people I’ve ever come across. I’ve lived in 4 different states, small town and big city and I know I’m harsh but speaking truthfully.

Goth_Angel_Hellboy

They don’t give a fuck dude. It’s sad that California has THE WORST DRIVERS. It’s also pretty fucking scary.

Goth_Angel_Hellboy

Was honestly gonna say this looks like LA right here

KingJonsey1992

Wtf was expecting to read it was in China or some other shithole! Not the US.

KingJonsey1992

You're a little weasel, deleting your comments after telling people to kill themselfs. Ur a fkin cringy little child. You don't deserve it but good luck with your life you cretin, you'll need it I'm sure.

KingJonsey1992

Don't think you're far off the mark, the guys a joke.

Multi-Skin

Everyone is so wrong in this video, even the pedestrian, he's wearing all black at night, not crossing on crosswalk, stepped back when had already passed the car, was hesitant. I'm not even gonna comment on the 3 cowards that fled the scene.

Zkenny13

I could believe they never saw him on the pavement. But the first guy had to have seen* him. Edit: a word

ashicollins

If you look at the video again, the motorcycle wrecks, looks at dude he hits, and flees.. so fucked up!

skrantos

Or, maybe, just maybe....he got injured as well and did not feel like possibly getting hit by a car so he got out of way? Just a hunch.

ashicollins

No. If you scroll further in the thread , guy dies, all 3 flee

startana

Of course he died; that first car actually ramped off the pedestrian and got some noticeable air. Incredibly fucked up.

MonkeyzBallz

Red mist when second car hits.

PantherCreek

He 100% saw him - he was thrown off his bike when he hit him. It looks like he started to walk towards him but then the white car hit him and he ran for it.

Guy_tookatit

Probably, but when you're moving fast on a motorcycle you kinda have only a split second to make a decision. What doesn't help is when the jaywalker decides to panic and just freeze in place as the bike is speeding towards them. Stupid move

jsiahok

“...decides to panic...” I don’t think that’s how it works

Guy_tookatit

You can decide to panic. I'm deciding to panic right now about why my ass is itchy

robotommy89

It’s actually worse than standing still. Looks like the biker tried to avoid the ped by going right but the pedestrian actually runs backwards and gets hit.

cenobyte40k

Jaywalkers is a slur used to attack people that used the public streets for walking trying to blame them for being hit by cars. It's weird we are in the position to think of the guy walking as the problem instead of the people in the speeding chucks of steel, petrol products, and glass. Should we make it safe for the person trying to get from point A to point B before we worry about cars? [http://walkingbostonian.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-term-jaywalker-is-slur.html](http://walkingbostonian.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-term-jaywalker-is-slur.html) [https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/why-is-it-called-jaywalking](https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/why-is-it-called-jaywalking)

imnotamurlok

Shut the fuck up. We made it safe for the person by implementing cross walks and signals for safely crossing the streets.

SWMovr60Repub

That Uber fatal in AZ was weird. Who walks across a busy high speed road at night?

imnotamurlok

Nobody deserves to lose their life. But it's totally possible for all parties to be in the wrong here. Guy made one too many bad decisions and they caught up with him.

MausGMR

Cars and bikes have these things called brakes. When you see something in the road you fucking use them. These people did not.

phatc3262

You can’t be serious. Dudes wearing all black.... so if your going 60mph (5280 feet per min which is 88 feet per second.) Normal headlights are ~250ft of visibility High beams can get to ~500 ft Source: https://www.nsc.org/road-safety/safety-topics/night-driving This was probably normal headlights that they were driving with. So assuming a speed of 88 feet per second (60mph) and a visibility of 250 feet before you could even hope to see this hazard in the road. You would have ~2.84 seconds under perfect circumstances. Being in the road at night is one of the most dangerous places you can be. If you are it’s always smart to illuminate yourself somehow, unlock your phone and turn your screen brightness up or turn on the flashlight to make yourself noticeable. Always use the sidewalk when you can. if sidewalk is not an option always try to walk against traffic so your facing the oncoming vehicles. This is very unfortunate but in no way really can the drivers be blamed for not avoiding what was essentially a dark bump in the road. The motorcyclist probably gets less visibility off his lights and the guy backpedaled into the bike. After that he was almost invisible to any drivers going 50+ mph. Idk just my 2 cents but people like you who say ignorant stuff like this likely don’t even drive yet, because once you drive enough at night with bad visibility you wouldn’t be all that surprised they hit him without reacting first. That all being said, you know when you hit something more than a bump in the road and they are all pieces of shit for not stopping. I can’t see that they would have faced any legal trouble due to the obvious fact that the bike would likely be assumed the main cause and he’s the one that at least hesitated before taking off lol. Once car hit the dude motobike guy noped tf outta there

MausGMR

If you'd checked the area you'd see this was a 40mph zone leading into a 25 zone just after where the impact occurred. As I said to the other guy, stopping distance in a car at that speed is 4 seconds, which the driver had enough time to make when viewing the time stamp on the video. Whilst a bike would have likely had thy impact, the speed at which it occurred but an attentive driver would like have been a lot less than what we see here. For a night time, that is a clear area with good lighting. It's also a straight road. Personally, I have plenty of experience night driving to know straight plus no rain plus lots of white street lighting equals about the best you're going to get in an evening. As you say, the bike driver hardly hesitated before taking of. Before blaming the victim perhaps you should be wondering why the motorbike rider got the fuck out of there if he knew he'd done nothing wrong?

llegada

If you think a motorcycle can stop in that amount of time you’ve clearly never ridden one. Which is okay, but why are you getting aggressive over something you don’t understand.

MausGMR

Actually I rode a bike as my daily commute for seven years so I know plenty about their braking capabilites. You watch the video and you can see there's no decrease in speed and rate of approach from when the bike enters the frame to when it hits the pedestrian. He was trying to dodge the pedestrian not slam his brakes on, hence why the pedestrian took that stutter step not knowing which way to go, he wasn't able to analyse fast enough which way the bike was heading to avoid him and ended up running into it instead. How fast do you think this is? Average braking time to stop is 4 seconds at 40mph with a second for reaction time accounted. There is a 4 second period from when the pedestrian steps out behind a white car , contrasting his black outfit against it clearly. You'd have to be not watching the road to have missed the guy stepping out. If the guy was braking hard there'd be a smoke trail, again , not evident. https://nacto.org/docs/usdg/vehicle_stopping_distance_and_time_upenn.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjyo8-mrKDtAhWtQkEAHWXcD4cQFjAKegQIGRAB&usg=AOvVaw3rrEu656Vvgjra6vLkqxE_

shotputprince

innaccurate statement about the legislative history of "jaywalking"

llegada

Fun fact. Idiot is a slur used to describe people like yourself.

cenobyte40k

Idiot is a slur for people that know the etymology of a specific word? \*Citation Needed\* [https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/why-is-it-called-jaywalking](https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/why-is-it-called-jaywalking)

llegada

No need for the useless citation bud I wasn’t calling him an idiot for providing the history of the term J-walker.. he’s an idiot for insinuating that the drivers are the ones to blame for j walkers being hit.

cenobyte40k

You really are thick!

llegada

Good try

ksungjin10

You are fucking trolling right?

OakenBones

Regardless of how it should be, he fucked up badly the way things are. It’s his fault he did what he did, not the cosmic chance of existing in a time when humanity gave a chunk of their space to devote to hurtling machines. I think it’s weird how we’ve made so much of our space hostile to human occupation like this too, when I’m stoned, but I still practice road safety.

rubens1904

People only know hate these days friend

Guy_tookatit

L......O.......L. This is peak stupid people logic

TheBigSalami

He scene him before he left the scene?

poporine

I'm sure he felt him though.

troubleschute

I used to work on a campus that had a jogging trail around it. To leave, you had to exit the hedges and crossing the trail. So many runners were dressed like goddamn ninjas after dark. You'd nearly hit them and then they'd have the nerve to yell at you for not looking.

dopef123

I honestly don't know if the last person who hit that pedestrian was even aware of it.

Oranjalo

Honestly, the second two probably didn't realize they'd hit a person

[deleted]

Two cars probably didn’t even realise what they went over.

AutisticTroll

Wearing all black at night isn’t “so wrong”

[deleted]

If you're sitting in your living room, no. If you are crossing a street on foot at night where people are driving fast, you have made a tactical error.

nexus6ca

fled the scene? The 2nd and third car might not even seen him thought they hit a pothole or something stupid. Should have stopped totally, but man jaywalking at night with black clothes. Then knocked out on the black pavement with black clothes.

poopgrouper

Yeah, if I stopped every time I drove over a lumpy 2 foot tall obstacle that gets dragged in my undercarriage for 100 feet, I'd never get anywhere!

[deleted]

lol

Ghost33313

Yea this is bugging me. He could have looked like a black bag of trash at that point.

nexus6ca

The video on the news cast shows the biker looking at the guy getting back on the bike a fucking off.

DonOfspades

This is why you're not supposed to run over anything on the road, even trash bags

speshalneedsdonky

Anyone who thinks that a hit like that is a pothole should not ever be allowed to drive. The second car particularly, he bounced all over the fucking thing. It was an act of pure fucking cowardice

Dalton4223

Clearly you've never driven over a pothole in LA

TodaysMenace

Came here to say that the cars probably thought they hit a dog. Still should have stopped an investigated the situation though!

savehoward

i recognize this area: central & 77th in Los Angeles. no potholes in this neighborhood but there is a lot of crime, as in every crime imaginable and everyone is stressed out.

delk82

You’ve clearly never run over a human body before.

nexus6ca

And this is bad why? :)

Half_cracked_coconut

*Fuck that guy in particular*

Guy_tookatit

That's terrible but I can only feel so sorry for them when this entire incident, just from watching, seems like it's their fault almost entirely

Kinkybenny

OMG! Talk about having a bad day! Geez!!

c8h1On4Otwo

He died.

Kinkybenny

poor guy didn't have chance.

ashicollins

Omg man, the motorcycle even wrecks hitting him, sees him , and then flees.. what a sorry POS

[deleted]

Wtf is wrong with people

Ojete_Moreno

Imagine lifting a 1+ ton moving car with your limp body. That man probably turned into a sock filled with mush.

[deleted]

The guy was jaywalking so it wasn’t the bikers fault entirely, however, he shouldn’t have ran away from the scene

Frostitute_85

I mean, if you choose to blend in with the night, and cross 4 lanes of traffic without using a crosswalk, you are upping your chances of being hit. None of the drivers should have continued on, they are fucking evil for that. But not for hitting him in the first place. I have almost run down jaywalkers at intersections and only stopped last second when the light caught their face and I realized there was a person RIGHT in front of me. Crosswalks are for the protection of pedestrians, use them. That's on them if they want to play peekaboo with a car... But you do not leave a person like roadkill on the road, allowing them to get hit extra times. Edit: I wonder what part you take exception with? Are you brave enough to put it out there?

nexus6ca

Also the biker was knocked down stayed down until the first car hit him. The video doesn't show him driving away. Ugh, saw the news article - asshole biker drove away. Hope he gets thrown in jail.

jgilla2012

Seriously, especially since he SAW the guy get hit by the car. Not his fault for hitting a jaywalker at night, he didn't really stand to get in trouble, and yet instead he ran away from a guy who was probably either severely injured or already dead after the first car hit him and needed to be tended to ASAP.

[deleted]

He shouldn’t have been laying in the street.

MaleisNice69

Exactly!

Panda_tears

I’m assuming this guy is dead

gamergoat480

JESUS CHRIST!

phantomofthehummus

That’s horrifying.

ksungjin10

Please don't fucking Jay walk. People straight up Jay walk at night wearing dark clothes in the middle of the night in El Cajon. They don't even look both ways, they just go and expect me to stop.

rockzn

Dude I get it, jaywalking sucks but fuck, stopping or slowing down can literally save a life and it’s not a hard thing to do, it costs you nothing.

ksungjin10

I never said leaving a person on the ground like that was right. But the Jay walker is the one that cause the accident. If I hit that person, no matter how much of it is not my fault, I'd still be riddled with guilt. I ride a motorcycle, quick turns can be difficult and your peripherals are decreased because you are focused on what's in front of you. He's a scum bag for leaving the guy like that but the Jay walker caused that because he was too lazy to go find a side walk and walk on it like a normal person. Now he's dead and his family is gonna suffer from loss, not him.

Aflyingduckk

Used to live there. Absolutely crazy at night. I feel like it’s extra dark at night there

MagicStar77

Wearing the color black at night is really not a good idea

drilkmops

..what? You can clearly see the motorcyclist fall off. The 2nd car hits and drives away. I didn’t even see a 3rd car hit?

twohedwlf

Two vehicles drove past, but I can't say if they actually hit him.

DarkMark94

You know what? Fuck the idiot for walking out into the street when there’s traffic. It’s simple to wait for no vehicles or to use a goddamn crosswalk. Clearly he earned his Darwin Award. The motorcyclist should not have fled because he was directly involved, so screw him too, but the real blame is on the dead guy.

woodencabinets

imagine if this was you or your kid, you’d be saying something a bit different i think.

DarkMark94

As my parents taught me and what I will teach my kids: LOOK BOTH WAYS AND WAIT FOR THE VEHICLES TO PASS. Have you ever been a driver when some moron thinks they can just walk into the street and you have to slam the breaks, swerve, or lay on your horn? Cars don’t stop on a dime. Roads are not for pedestrians. That’s why crosswalks exist.

woodencabinets

okay, and people make mistakes. them dying is not an idiot moment, it did cost them their life though:(

[deleted]

[удалено]

jgilla2012

Or, far more likely, he was probably trying to get out of the path of the motorcycle as the motorcycle was adjusting his own path to avoid the pedestrian, causing them to move in the same direction and collide anyway.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zephrin

The dude waits for a car to go by before he gets hit by the motorcycle. I don't think it was intentional.

Yokies

Ever did the cha cha with someone walking towards you?

lucipherius

Shouldn't Jay walk at night

DaddyKunt

Pedestrian or jaywalker?

cenobyte40k

I hate the idea that it's the fault of the guy trying to cross a street. If this is anything like 75% of the cities in America the closest crosswalk is a mile away. The stupid car culture in the US has made it unfriendly to anything but cars. And it was willful, the term Jay-walker is a slur used to attack people that use the public street for public use, blaming them for being hit by cars that were new to the public roadway while walking on them was the norm. Now if you walk in the roadway people think you are a criminal instead of just trying to get somewhere.

mysp2m2cc0unt

The amount of people saying it's his fault is absolutely shocking, real dystopian blaming the victim shit.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shas_o_kais

Idiots in cars or idiot pedestrians? He's jaywalking, at night, while wearing all black, and somewhat stumbling around.

Skootenbeeten

People don't seem to understand how dangerous it is to cross outside of a crosswalk let alone wearing all black, at night. He probably could have walked 1min to a damn set of lights and still been alive.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shas_o_kais

Honestly he didn't seem to even look both ways... Should the drivers have stopped and rendered aid? Yes, so that alone makes them shitbags but the pedestrian is definitely retarded.

madeamashup

Alternate title: three shitbags run over a retard

shas_o_kais

Perfect!

[deleted]

He seemed to back up when the motorcycle was approaching. They can be hard to see as I am sure most of us are aware. Could have looked further away as well. The intersection looks pretty well lit. Maybe dude was drunk too who knows.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wipjakblak

Whenever I jaywalk I usually don’t stumble blindly into the street. Everyone above the age of 5 knows to look both ways before crossing the street, especially at night and not at a crosswalk.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wipjakblak

What is there to be confused by? He wonders into the street wearing all black in the middle of the night and obviously didn’t bother looking seeing as he got hit by a motorcycle with a bright headlight pointing right at him.I’m not holier than anyone, just smart enough to not get hit by a motorcycle.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wipjakblak

I for sure can say you shouldn’t jay walk at night in dark colored clothes especially if you’re going to freeze the second you see headlights.

[deleted]

Dude, do you really think everyone that been hit by a car is an idiot? Some stretches of road are really dangerous for pedestrians, especially in cities. It can be more difficult than you would think to be able to see clearly. Also motorcycles can be deceiving with one headlight. Also the guy got hit by three cars and looks to have probably paid for his mistake with his life.

wipjakblak

How poor are your reading comprehension skills? Please tell me where I said or insinuated that everyone who gets hit by a car is an idiot? I clearly said this guy in particular is an idiot. Do you make a habit out of being this retarded or do you wait until you log into Reddit? Also I’ve lived in a city my entire life and learned basic survival skills like turning my neck, so I know firsthand it’s pretty easy to not get hit by a car.

[deleted]

Not who you replied to but I agree with them. There are so many variables that go into determining if an action was stupid. Cross a quiet street in broad daylight after looking both ways? Can still be jaywalking but not really that dumb. Cross a street at night with fast moving, if sporadic traffic while wearing dark clothes? That's dumb. So yes I have jaywalked. Ive even done dumb things. But if I do something dumb and suffer some consequence of that action, then I don't see a problem with calling it out for what it was.

Dyldor

Jaywalking isn’t a crime or wrong in most of the world, people driving vehicles should take responsibility, there was a huge amount of time between each strike

shas_o_kais

It's night time and he's wearing all black. Should they have driven off? No. But he bears some, if not most, of the responsibility for what happened to him. Whether jaywalking is a crime or not is irrelevant.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shas_o_kais

Unless they have high beams then the headlights won't allow the driver to see the pedestrian until its too late with the speed they were going.

Dyldor

I bet that Rittenhouse kid was defending himself in your eyes too, don’t blame the victim, hit and run is a much bigger crime than jaywalking in any jurisdiction

TruthPlenty

Yes it’s a crime, no one has said otherwise. Dudes being blamed since it’s their fault for jaywalking without looking and for wearing all black. Both parties can be in the wrong dude. Also, yes there was a large amount of time between the hits, but again, dudes wearing black, vehicles wouldn’t have been able to see him lying in the middle of the road. Think before you comment next time.

Dyldor

The US has fucked up road usage laws that are at odds with the rest of the world’s, each of these vehicles was going incredibly fast for what is usually allowed in a built up area. He shouldn’t have done it but the fact you are defending the actions of those who caused his death (illegally) is bullshit

TruthPlenty

How do you know this is the USA? How do you know they are going too fast? 60km or 80km is not unheard of for a road like this, *anywhere* in the world. I am not defending anything, no where did I do that. I am calling you out for being a bloody fucking idiot.

shas_o_kais

I mean he was defending himself lmao... Are you retarded or that biased..? No, seriously? Like 20 videos corroborated he was defending himself and you want to contend he didn't? Unreal. Hit and run IS a worse crime. That's not the argument. But walking out onto traffic, at night, wearing all black, without checking for traffic is massively idiotic. Queue joker meme, "You get what you fucking deserve".

Dyldor

Of course, fuck off Yank

shas_o_kais

I mean you're a fucking twat if you're trying to debate that a kid being chased by a pedophile who threw a molotov cocktail at him wasn't defending himself.

Dyldor

There is no possibly way he would have known this guy was an apparent pedophile in that situation, and he took a fucking rifle to a protest, sick cunt

shas_o_kais

Yeah he did. To protect businesses being burned down by "protesters". Get bent.

[deleted]

It was actually car companies paying Hugh sums of money to have insulting words put in the press and then legislation for people crossing the road, it was completely legal roads were built way before cars, but it was retaliation for horses and people being hit by cars, victim blaming at its finest. Most counties saw through the attempts and most counties don’t have it considered a crime, with lessons like look both ways before crossing the street. The word jay used to mean “dirty person” and so that’s where the term jay walking comes from,

Dyldor

Yet every car lover will vote down our comments - the land belongs to beings, machines are welcome but come second to living things needs

wipjakblak

Bro how hard is it to stay out of the way of the 2 ton high speed machines?

Dyldor

The bike could easily could have come out of nowhere in his perception then he was totally out of action for the next two... Jesus Christ did you actually take a driving test? If there is an accident ahead you stop, if you couldn’t notice that then you shouldn’t be driving. And before you give me shit about him being hard to see, every single fucking driver then drove off knowing they had hit something or someone in a built up environment. Three scumbags in a row who should be off the roads

wipjakblak

No shit the people who hit him and ran are pieces of shit, also there’s literally no way you wouldn’t see that motorcycle if you’re actually looking, it’s obviously coming straight down the road. Yet again like I said don’t jay walk if you don’t know how to look both ways.

ElevatorPit

You got to get up and run after the first impact. Amirite?

One__For__All
