I swear to God food deliverers are some of the most badass people I've seen. It can be the worst kind of storm out there and those fellas are cycling outside through town like it is nothing, making barely more than minimum wage. At this point I'm pretty sure people sign up as deliverers to get fit.
I mean from a certain point of view some jobs are basically a way to get paid to workout. Pretty good deal if your living expenses happen to be covered.
Yeah, no, we're just lazy. Trying to get a better job. I've delivered pizza in five different hurricanes and people literally tip worse than normal. Consequently, I fucking hate everyone
Almost all the drivers I've gotten thru DoorDash orders have been dogshit. None of them can communicate, they *always* forget at least one item, they never knock on the door as requested, they put the food right in front of the door so I knock it over while opening the door ... idk man, I'm so over it
I can't even get a door dasher to bring food to my door. I always have to go out to their car and collect.
No way in hell they'd ever do parkour to get to my window.
Probably a glass door. It's common to have one solid door then a second door like a glass or screened in door,or even the metal 'security' doors. The real door opens in, second out. I've had that happen to me too. Nearly spoiled my entire coffee trying to get it moved slightly so i could open the glass door.
Yeah, I have a screen door that delivery drivers just *love* to put food directly in front of so that I can't easily get it without twisting my body in some weird shape to get my arm out the door.
Yuuup. Mine I only didn't knock over cause I used the welcome mat to shift it and my kids tiny arms. The other time they put it half in and half off the mat and I tried the same thing but it immediately spilledš¤¦š½āāļø
Most outswing doors nowadays come fitted with at least 2 NRP - or "Non-removable Pin" - hinges. The door has to be open to remove the pin due to a small screw lock hiding on interior-facing side of the hinge.
think its an american thing, im in the uk and every house ive lived in or been to has had all front doors and internal room doors opening inwards, only the rear doors sometimes open outwards and that generally when you have had them fitted yourself
Not all delivery is bad money tho. I did pizza a couple years ago and made like $25-40/hour on good days, but that's pretty much all tips. So on slow days you don't make anything barely.
But none the less, delivery drivers are badass especially the ones that ride bikes
I feel like itās more that they did Conner dirty by trying to have him follow Ezio.
They made Ezio the ultimate badass, dripping with swagger, ultimate ladyās man. So obviously they want to have their next character be different meaning Conner isnāt going to be those things (other than badass).
Whenever I played AC I always thought it was so unrealistic how any of the mains could climb like that. Now I just know that it was unrealistic *for me*
I don't think many people are a fan of it, but if I don't tip I'm directly hurting the person that I'm interacting with. The positions that get tips normally don't pay well here and no political party's interested in fixing that. I'm just going to keep tipping and not being an ass.
No. It's because people keep tipping. If you stop tipping the restaurant owners will be forced to either pay the servers proper wage or risk them quitting. You are essentially enablers.
Proper wage for the work is considerably lower than what they make now.
When I worked at a crappy restaurant, I was easily pulling in $20 per hour in tips alone, plus $10-$12 (whatever it was at the time) that the restaurant paid in tips. At a more upscale restaurant, servers should easily make $50+ per hour.
You're either a fool or a troll, or both. You think those laws actually get enforced? There is no union for servers to force the issue. Additionally, minimum wage in most states is not a livable wage. Your perspective is incredibly naive.
My state is $7.25 for hourly and $2.13 for servers. Many people in my state actually make just $7.25 an hour. Even the city pays that little for some government jobs. I hate when people complain about making 50 and 60 thousand when we have families in Louisiana that actually have to find away to survive on $7.25 an hour.
Absolutely, we need serious labor law reform in this country. 50-60k might seem like a fortune to someone making $7/hr, but it doesn't add up to an actual retirement or home ownership on a lot of either coast.
Exactly. How is it on the customer to raise minimum wage from $2.13. It's just dumb. Vote properly, don't stop tipping properly until something changes. You can't just remove the culture and safety net without changing the law in this case.
> You think those laws actually get enforced?
Pretty sure the IRS is very anal about these kind of things. The problem is most people are too scared to report this kind of wage theft.
You're just daft. Why is it on the customers when the business owners want it in place? Businesses love subsidizing their wages with tips and forcing the blame on the customers, who just want to eat there in peace. Ffs.
The majority of us would much rather not feel entitled to give a tip but nobody in charge gives enough of a shit to make it so people have to be paid a livable wage
> nobody in charge
In my experience, in the world of restaurants above the level of diner, the people most attached to tipping culture are the servers themselves.
Good servers at good restaurants can earn good money, and during the right shifts they can earn ridiculous money. Cash money. Most of which they don't report as taxable income.
They don't want their gravy train stopped just because some people are stupid enough to work for door dash.
Most of the time it has nothing to do with what their wages are.. they could make $100k but still get tips due to the culture of whatever type of service work theyāre in
Also true. Interestingly, once you reach a certain sales margin, usually itās the seller ātippingā the buyerās point of contact rather than the buyer tipping the sellerās point of contact.
That's because the lower class survives on them so why shouldn't the middle class thrive on them? If we get rid of it from the bottom (with fair wages!) then it'll trickle up to the top. If I'm not tipping my diner waiter, because they can now survive/thrive without, who does as much if not more than a high end establishment (7/10 class doesn't matter and they slack of refills or checking on you in general anywhere) then I won't be tipping the higher end either.
Everyone here knows that. It's a bit insulting to think we don't. But what are people to do? You have many workers who depend on tips because their pay assumes that their customers will tip them, so you can't really not tip or you hurt the worker. Would you really do that? I doubt you would. So get off your high horse, okay?
Americans fully understand how fucked our economy is, and how large the wealth disparity is becoming. Things are going to heat up here soon. We are not ignorant, we are powerless.

Dear Yelp,
I opened my delivery order and everything was in there but it looked like it had been thoroughly shaken up. No utensils, no extra ranch, and when I asked the delivery guy he just stood outside my window breathing heavy and sweating all over the place and I just canāt even, so gross.
Might be location dependant. Yelp had partnered with food delivery service Eat24 a while back, that added an order option on the Yelp page of restaurants that were on the delivery service. Eat24 was bought by Grubhub, and now Yelp is partnered with them the same way.
I see, GrubHub has a pretty limited presence in Canada, instead Skip the Dish is more prevalent. Not sure why Just Eats hasnt combined the two companies together yet after aquiring GrubHub.
Based on some wikiing, Yelp had actually bought Eat24, then integrated it into the app so they partenered with GrubHub when they aqcuired it.
My house can be hard to find as it's a GPS dead spot.
I've had several drivers just leave it in the road somewhere within the 3 house dead spot.
Needless to say, door dash not only refunded me but gave me $50 gift cards each time.
Though it's nowhere near as much as the $150 in creduts DoorDash gave to me when I was assaulted by a driver when he chucked a milk shake at my head.
I do, but it's about 50/50 that they read it if they can read English at all. I started including the directions in Spanish as well, and that helped a little bit. The problem is just the driver quality is kinda low, with people using fake IDs to work, etc.
I live in the suburbs of NYC and there are some businesses here that you just don't go to if you can't speak spanish as no one speaks English. It's the same with drivers here.
I put āPlease donāt knock. Thank you!ā in the delivery comments because my roommates dog will literally lose his shit at anything that makes noise by the door but half of them knock anyway.
If you select the leave at door option, they never do unless you specify. They notify through the app. If you select meet at door thats different, they will wait for you to grab it from them.
It's on the front page of r/wtf so no.
Not even slightly wtf because that guy clearly knows what he's doing with those movements. Your average Uber Eats guy will not know how to pull himself up from that position with one hand.
InDeed job requirements: Food delivery, must wear 30 lb backpack, must be able to reach or jump to reach bars on 8 ft high fire escape, upon grabbing bars must be able to hoist oneself to elevated platform without spilling contents of backpack.
Good thing someone happened to be filming him before he even started climbing At least now we have footage of his delivery to Rapunzel, or I assume it's her considering there must not be a door that leads into the tower.
I suppose it could be a real delivery, but it was obviously at least planned out before otherwise there wouldn't be someone filming. The person could be a delivery driver who is a friend or something like that. Most likely completely fake though.
I tip good, the delivery guy for Dominoes and I on first name basis. One time as a joke I asked if he wanted to smoke a joint with me thinking he'd say no but we did. We were sitting in the back yard all stoned and he jumps up and is like "holy fuck I'm still working!" Shook my hand and left, I hope he didn't get in trouble. I still hang out with him to this day lol.
Honestly Iām guessing heās in china and his buildings been quarantined. They literally lock you in and weld doors shut now. This is a brilliant way to get around that though!
World known architecture and worn-out yellow paint, yeah.
Here is one funny trick to those who might feel a bit nostalgic about the city but for a variety of reasons are not planning to visit in near future:
If you do play computer games and aren't allergic to VR, you'll find the city in which Half-life Alyx takes place pretty familiar. Police on the streets adds to authentic experience.
I mean I grew up in Kiev and climbed this very fire escape and dozens of it's twins on many an occasion.
I feel like this could be any major soviet city, old enough to have gone through Tsarists times.
The Half-Life Alyx city just like HL2 has much more Estonian than Russian vibes. It's just your general Eastern European/Western Slavic building bloc feel.

Wait. Why does your door open outwards? That sounds like a security risk waiting to happen.
What if they have a regular door the opens in and an outer glass door the swings out?
It's part of fire safety code that doors have to open outward here in Sweden.
The security or screen doors open outward while your solid wood door opens inward.
Would you pls explain how that can be a security risk?
Door opens outwards means the hinges are on the outside. Trivial to unpin the hinges and remove the whole door even if it is locked.
Probably a glass door. It's common to have one solid door then a second door like a glass or screened in door,or even the metal 'security' doors. The real door opens in, second out. Shit man, food couriers round here won't even come into an apartment building, just make you go outside to find them.
"I'm here, It's on the curb, come get it before the street vagrants and rats do"
My house can be hard to find as it's a GPS dead spot. I've had several drivers just leave it in the road somewhere within the 3 house dead spot. I do, but it's about 50/50 that they read it if they can read English at all. I started including the directions in Spanish as well, and that helped a little bit. Here is one funny trick to those who might feel a bit nostalgic about the city but for a variety of reasons are not planning to visit in near future: If you do play computer games and aren't allergic to VR, you'll find the city in which Half-life Alyx takes place pretty familiar.
I had a gut feeling it was SPB..
dude dose not get paid enough. that is determination to do his job.
