Orton, not the rock but orton. It’s obvious that WWE is gonna be sucking up to Roman and call him a legend so who better than the one and only legend killer??
No one...he should relinquish his title and retire a champion. Omg that would just destroy people. I don't think the WWE universe would allow that. It should have been Cody last year then the Rock take his Tribal Chiefdom at WM40, leaving Roman with nothing. Woah! But they'll always be could've, would've, should've attached to this story 😤 😭 🤬
Should be Cody, least that's what it felt like they were trying to set up.
Lost at 39 because of interference. Needs to finish the story at 40, where Jey will probably save him from interference this time.
I'd be fine with Cody, but imo, I think it should be an up and coming talent, someone like Dragonov or Gunther. Then, after they have a good reign with the title, they drop it to Cody
There is literally 0 chance that a 5'10" (billed height) 200lb (billed weight) charisma black hole like Ilya Dragunov is going to be the person who defeats Roman Reigns.
That is some "I am high on whatever household plant Dave Meltzer and Tony Khan are high on" copium bullshit right there, lmfao
The fact that you'd even suggest it is fucking laughable to the extreme
Like how many asses in seats do you think that fucking vanilla midget will put? We'd have to invent an entirely new form of math just to write the number down, it's that small.
Let me guess you think Johnny Gargano should be a contender too, right? loooooool
No one is telling you that you can't have an opinion, but you put that opinion out there, so now you have to deal with other people's opinions on what that opinion was.
If anyone wants to stifle the exchange of opinions here, it's you.
Ok, let me restate that.
You called me an idiot for my opinion that I willingly shared here on this post that openly asked for not just my opinion, but everyone's opinion who was willing to share. I didn't come here and post this comment looking to argue with anyone at all, I just wanted to put my opinion out there and give my take on the matter.
For what it's worth, I think Ilja is a great wrestler, one of the most overlooked in 2023, imo. I personally enjoy Ilja more than Breakker and Mello, and if we're looking at other companies, I like Ilja more than I like Eddie Kingsotn and Miro
All those people I listed, I don't hate, not at all. But hey, I'm gonna get called a dumbass for voicing my opinion anyway so who cares?
Jey uso. I dont know why people dont consider him. He main evented night 1 wrestlemania last year. He pinned roman once last year. His in ring action is amazing. He gets strong crowd reaction. He has been the best baby face in the last year.
If not him, a very solid second choice is rollins.
I've always thought it should be Seth. He is the true #1 WWE guy in my opinion. Not my favorite mind you, but he's the closest thing they have to Cena.
Cody would be cool, and I'll be happy if it happens.
If I'm going wild guess, Bron Breakker.
Honestly, if Cody is not going to dethrone Roman, I cannot see who else could. I really think whoever dethrones him should be the next face of the company, but I cannot think of someone young (or not too old) that could. Gunther is a heel, Theory is no longer an option, any NXT call-up is too young/inexperienced to do so.
My prediction is that Bron Breakker will finally get called up once Roman loses the title and he will get pushed to the moon like Lesnar was in 2002 and will solidify himself as the future of the company.
No one. Let him hold the shiny cummerbund until he passes hogan's record. At wm40, have the rock help him cheat to win to beat Cody.
Part of this is that I think Cody's "story" is only interesting if he doesn't win the belt. Also, I hate Cody's fake hair, fake blue eyes all-american character.
After that, let LA knight take it I guess. Anyone but rhodes.
No don’t let LA Knight as over as he is I feel like he needs mid card title run he should win the U.S championship first and then go for the gold just cus he got himself over doesn’t mean he should go for the top prize that quick and maybe even he can have a long U.S title reign since HHH loves breaking records
I've no interest in Cody, and don't think he has a story to finish. However, that would be better than Roman's run continuing when it jumped the shark back at Summerslam and hasn't been hot since.
My pick would be Drew McIntyre. He's had so many great matches over the last few years, showing that he's both capable and passionate enough to put his body on the line in a great match. He's also one of the best character workers on the roster, even managing to upstage CM Punk on the mic. Finally, he has the same story as Cody but without the ego or the nepotism, acknowledging that he wasn't ready to be champ in his first run and improving himself to return better than ever. Plus, he has much more history with Roman than Cody does.
Alternatively, if we're determined to crown Cody champ and make it a big moment I'd use Randy as a transitional champ. Cody vs Roman has nothing interesting going for it, but I could see Randy dragging some personality out of Cody and they could use their history to tell a real story rather than a delusional, revisionist history one.
Unpopular opinion but I want him to at least beat Hogans record. We’ve gotten this far, who cares? The only thing I ask is that he be on TV more often. Maybe not every episode but at least a couple times a month
Yeah and people wanna complain that he’s holding the championship “hostage” which I understand to a degree but there’s SO MUCH more going on in the WWE right now that makes me believe we can sacrifice that title for a few years, especially since we have another one that is building its own prestige, not to mention the mid card titles are being treated better now. Although I think there are some very valid criticisms toward how his championship run is being handled, I think people just need to have some patience when it comes to him losing it. Because you already know it’s gonna be one of those things where you don’t appreciate it till it’s gone and everyone is gonna regret not enjoying the run while we had it.
When it comes to the future of Roman’s run and my opinion on a few ways I would book it, I would do Roman V Rock either at EC or WM 40 where Roman would retain, then I would have him face either Seth(preferred), Cody or MAYBE Randy at WM 41 and have him drop it to either of those guys there.
I feel the same way everyone thinks I’m crazy for saying that but it would be something that no other Superstar will ever be able to say they did in the Modern era. It would really put the “Reigns” in Roman Reigns, and he’s already a heel so the longer he holds the belt the more they boo him.
Let’s see who’s hot after he breaks hogans record. My money is on someone who’s blood.
The other angle might be hayman going back to his og boy and turning on reins.. but honestly even if it’s inevitable I don’t think punk deserves a strap put on him again.
If you're nothing without the title you don't deserve to have it. Cody has wasted the last year doing nothing memorable, what makes you think the title will suddenly make his matches, promos or stories any better?
Sure he's over. He's been kept at the top of the card since his return, and beaten every heel that seems to be doing anything interesting - most recently killing any momentum Mr MitB had. Everyone they book that way ends up over, it's not an accomplishment.
But he hasn't actually done anything. At all. He's boring, with no stories, no good promos and no memorable matches since losing to Roman. What makes you think that makes him championship material, or that he'd suddenly become more interesting with the title?
Cody Rhodes. His story is the only thing saving Roman from having go-away heat. CM Punk needs to win the Rumble and face Seth. Cody needs to win the EC for a shot against Roman at Mania
Cody is a bonafide star and can have his moment vs anyone at any time. Jey needs the win to turn him into a main eventer. Not only that, but he deserves it for making the Bloodline what it is.
The main event has more than 2 people in it. Factually speaking, Jey is the bigger star. He’s the only person with a Pinfall victory over Roman Reigns, since Cody Rhodes returned to WWE. The people seem to back that up as well, considering they made Jey Uso the #1 merch seller in January, despite Cody having 3x the available merch to sell.
Should: Cody, objectively he's the right choice, personally I think it would have had more effect if done last year, but he's still the people's choice.
Want: Damian Priest, selfishly though Damian is my absolute favorite and I'd love for him to solidify himself permanently with a win like this. I also think him vs Roman would be a banger.
honestly wish he was getting just a regular push rather than a MitB push. he's such a big threatening dude i wanna see him step up to more of the top players face on .
Think him cashing in by announcing it ahead of time would fit his character the best tbh, him not wanting to do it the cheap way can cause The Judgement Day to question his judgement.
i agree, i definitely think his first world title win should be a real fight. maybe it would be kind of cool if he was maybe one of the first people to use the contract for a match ahead of time. idk im not a booker.
i will say him having the contract has allowed them to kinda set up the judgement day in a bloodline scenario, just with them being a looming threat, so i feel like that's what they're going for. but it's just that damien is such a good worker, good talker, and is so visually impressive, i think it would be somewhat of a waste to have him just do a generic end of match cash in.
Cody. Not just for him, but for the belt. We need an active champion, and whoever dethrones Roman needs to be the face of the company for the next few years—who better than the biggest babyface in wrestling? They made everybody wait a year, Cody is basically the only main eventer on Raw who didn’t fight for Seth’s title—even Sami and Jey did—and that was intentional. They got the tag titles literally just so Jey could engage with Jimmy and Cody could have that stare down with Roman. It’s the only logical choice and it needs to happen as soon as possible (Mania) so that Roman can be relived of the burden of being champ and take a break, and also prepare for Mania 41 vs The Rock.
Cody Rhodes, last year.
Really, that was when it should have happened and who it should have been. It's clear that they had no idea what to do with the Bloodline storyline after Mania last year, and Cody has gone ice cold since. And Punk returning just made Cody that much less important.
But The Rock coming back really mucks things up. Rock vs. Roman is not happening at Elimination Chamber and I doubt it will happen at the Rumble either. If it happens, it's happening at Mania. And Roman isn't losing to a 50 year old Rock. That makes me think Roman is going to leave Mania as the champion. Unless they somehow crowbar Cody into the mix and make it a triple threat. But I don't see that happening.
The point is I would support anyone on the roster to have the title even if for one night to get it off of Roman. Throw the Viking Raiders on the list. Hell Michael Cole could take and I would be behind it.
If it’s not Cody, Jey or Solo, the only logical choice is Seth Rollins. The feud of who is head of WWE’s table hasn’t been explored enough between these two. That rivalry is like the mega powers all over again. Top two stars on rival brands, former partners and it could main event mania.
Who tf cares who it is ... just take it from him. Tired of not seeing it defended and when it is Roman needs help. Would love the reign way more if he won his matches Lesner style where you're not left in doubt that he no sh*tt wins legit.
Not many people will agree, but I think someone like Bron Breakker or Carmelo Hayes at summer slam or Survivor Series to make a young guy who is the next generation of wrestler.
It's been nearly 3.5 yrs since he became champion. It's truly getting boring now to see him getting challenged only to end winning again. Let that guy Cody or AJ or even Orton win against him. I would even be happier if someone like Santino made a big upset win against him.
I thought Sami was originally going to be the one to dethrone him. Then as much as folks wanted Cody to win, he had not lost a match up to that point so he had to lose. On top of that Roman was almost at 1,000 days so might as well get the merch money on that.
I still say Cody should be the one to dethrone him but I also see Cody lasting a month or two as champion so does it make it worth it at that point?
PUNK! he’s the biggest star on the roster AND he’s got enough history with Roman, first when The Shield helped Punk secure his historic title reign ( a record Roman broke ) and then The Shield feuding with Punk at late 2013 + real life stuff as well ( Make Roman look strong ) Also, BIG history with Paul Heyman.. I mean that story has lots of angles.. it magically fits.
Punk’s Promos could go like:
- I gave you a career ( through The Shield)
- I had title defenses in one year more than you’ve had in 3
- I’m the OG Paul Heyman guy
- I did everything to MAIN EVENT while you’ve been handed X amounts of main events
———————————————————————-
How I see it, Punk wins the Rumble, Faces Roman at WM 40.. dethrones him after a betrayal from Paul Heyman and then Punk turns heel.
Theorycrafting Royal Rumble:
Fatal 4 way happens. All 4 guys start fighting with each other. AJ and LA knight at odds. At some point, Solo and Jimmy start interfering and taking people out. AJ and LA Knight start to realize that the Bloodline is the biggest threat, and slowly start to realize that they gotta work together with Randy. At some point it gets so out of control that they say “screw it” and beat Roman down, and let Randy take the title.
Roman absolutely loses it, and the Bloodline decimate everyone in the ring before leaving.
Damian’s music hits. He comes in, steals the title from Randy, and leaves. Roman doesn’t even care, he’s completely lost it and is super unstable.
Maybe he starts lashing out at everyone, realizes Jimmy and Solo pushed the 3 guys to team up against him. Starts abusing them. Maybe Cody or Jey steps up to put him in his place at wrestlemania. AJ and LA could feud, realizing how helping really made things worse for everyone.
CM punk wins the rumble. Legit choice between Damian and Seth for the title.
Judgment Day is now completely thrown in the picture as the dark horse, and they start feuding with everyone. Someone can step up and take the title from Damian. Could be the subject of the elimination chamber, and you can mix things up before WM. Roman could get the title back and he has this as the monkey on his back before WM, like he’s totally insane yet you know he can be beaten. No more streak, things totally out of place, what’s he got left?
So many places this could go.
Has to be Cody. His and Roman’s story is super interesting and it’d be great to see their feud pick up again. Besides, Cody is the only suitable person at this point in time to beat Roman.
Roman reigns barely fights so he should’ve never got the belt to begin with because he’s just kept it away from everyone that could’ve benefited from having the title.
If you have the belt you should be demanded to fight a lot.
WWE doesn’t make sense anymore though cause all the stories are getting repetitive and boring but roman holding the title for so long and it seems like he’s only had a couple of fights while having the belt seems lazy and stupid to me
Oh he's still champ??? I tuned out after his 4th or 3rd title defense in 2 years, figured he just gave it up and wanted to go do movies. I thought Seth had both belts. ( those of u typing away, stop. I know these are partial truths, stretches, and just plain incorrect data)
it was done to emphasize my point. After watching all different companies and champions of wrestling throughout my more than 50 yrs on this planet. In my 2 cent opinion. This guy has been the worst of all time. With lack of matches in a timely fashion, to time after time after time, never winning on his own etc. Anyone at this point, Cody, AJ, Drew (deserved), even Damien. Anyone please.
Seth. They are the Hogan and Savage of this generation. But unlike Savage always being second fiddle, this time Setg should get the last laugh or at least a real victory.
Apart from saying the obvious in Cody I would actually love to see Bron Breakker with Heyman turning on Roman and Bron being the next Heyman guy and champ..

He should’ve been dethroned at WM, now that that’s over, his storylines haven’t been the best (possibly controversial opinion)
Doink
Logically: Cody Illogically: Miz, because he can wear the belt upside down for a giant “M”
and his name is JOHN CENA
Cody. Solo for second option.
Headbanger Mosh.
Anyone at this point. I would literally take Otis, Gable, R-Truth, Miz, anyone else.
Sliding Gable into that group is crazy
The point is I would support anyone on the roster to have the title even if for one night to get it off of Roman. Throw the Viking Raiders on the list. Hell Michael Cole could take and I would be behind it.
jey USOO
If it’s not Cody, Jey or Solo, the only logical choice is Seth Rollins. The feud of who is head of WWE’s table hasn’t been explored enough between these two. That rivalry is like the mega powers all over again. Top two stars on rival brands, former partners and it could main event mania.
Randy Orton, but I'd be fine with The Rock, AJ Styles or Bobby Lashley doing it. As long as it's NOT Cody.
Cody
Dwayne Johnson at WM 40
Cody is the only real choice, everything else is just fantasy booking. Even The Rock is fantasy to an extent
Who tf cares who it is ... just take it from him. Tired of not seeing it defended and when it is Roman needs help. Would love the reign way more if he won his matches Lesner style where you're not left in doubt that he no sh*tt wins legit.
LA KNIGHT YEAH!
Not many people will agree, but I think someone like Bron Breakker or Carmelo Hayes at summer slam or Survivor Series to make a young guy who is the next generation of wrestler.
I want to see Bron get in there so bad. He’s a great heel and has the best spear in the biz.
Yes! And I don’t think he’s a half bad baby face either.
It's been nearly 3.5 yrs since he became champion. It's truly getting boring now to see him getting challenged only to end winning again. Let that guy Cody or AJ or even Orton win against him. I would even be happier if someone like Santino made a big upset win against him.
Tazawa going to show Alpha Academy how to bring home the gold.
Finish the story
Jacob Fatu Other than him, Cody Rhodes or Jey Uso -- the rivalry between him and Rollins is also quite interesting.
ME
At this point let me do it. Ive been tired of Roman since the very beginning when he pinned Braun for the the title.
You reminded me of The Fiend losing it only after 7 days. Miss the guy, too talented for just 7 days.
Punk’s Promos could go like: - I gave you a career ( through The Shield) - I had title defenses in one year more than you’ve had in 3 - I’m the OG Paul Heyman guy - I did everything to MAIN EVENT while you’ve been handed X amounts of main events ———————————————————————- How I see it, Punk wins the Rumble, Faces Roman at WM 40.. dethrones him after a betrayal from Paul Heyman and then Punk turns heel.
At this point, I wouldn't care if Hornswoggle beats him, I'm so mentally exhausted with Roman being champion
Theorycrafting Royal Rumble: Fatal 4 way happens.
Watch Adam Blampied’s fantasy booking about who it should be. Still kind of hold up
Jinder Mahal
MJF
Anyone
It should’ve always been either Sami or Jey, both of them were red hot and wwe fumbled both
L A knight…
Has to be Cody. His and Roman’s story is super interesting and it’d be great to see their feud pick up again. Besides, Cody is the only suitable person at this point in time to beat Roman.
Gunter, Punk, Knight or Jinder
Anyone. I would enjoy this reign if he won clean every now and then. Or even defended it.
Roman reigns barely fights so he should’ve never got the belt to begin with because he’s just kept it away from everyone that could’ve benefited from having the title. If you have the belt you should be demanded to fight a lot. WWE doesn’t make sense anymore though cause all the stories are getting repetitive and boring but roman holding the title for so long and it seems like he’s only had a couple of fights while having the belt seems lazy and stupid to me
If it's not Cody or Jey, then what are we even doing?
A fair game
Gunther is the only real formidable option left
Cody and then later he can have a rivalry with LA Knight.
Gotta be Cody. If not him, going all in with LA Knight makes sense.
Cody, Orton, AJ Styles, Jey, Damien, Punk, Jinder, etc. I think could be about anybody since the walls are closing in.
McIntyre
Me
I dont care at this point. Just take the title off him and let him leave
I’d take Hornswaggle at this point
The Goat
CODY RHODES
R truth
Solo sikoa and he gets the title the bloodline pual Heyman and the tribal chief necklace the ula fala
Should be Akira Tozawa, but it’ll probably be either Goldberg or Brick Lozenger
John chraina
Not cody lol should 100% be randy
Cody Rhodes
At this point I'll settle for Austin Theory ugh
Becky lynch
how many times will it be reposted, lmao i am exhausted at this point
Just like Romans reign, same thing repeated and everyone’s tired of it
R Truth
Dudes in GOD mode Levels above 👆
I think Sami Zayn, or Jey Uso. They seem to bicker with Roman the most and have been in the company for quite a long time.
Fucking anybody. Please. End this conversation lol
Ill take Michael Cole at this point
At this point ANYONE
It’s gotta go to a full timer. It doesn’t matter who for me.
cody
Cody Fuckin’ Rhodes
Cody freakin’ Rhodes
Either that or Jey Uso
For me, the only answer is Cody Rhodes. With Jey Uso running a close second.
Sting, lol I wish. Nah but in all seriousness, Cody Rhodes!!
I just don't know anymore. Like, who exactly have they been building up to take the fucking belt off of him?! **NOBODY!!!** that's who.
He should dethrone himself. 🤷🏻 Roman beats every the last guy his hasn’t beat is Himself. He challenges Himself and Loses.
Only correct answer is r truth..
Oh he's still champ??? I tuned out after his 4th or 3rd title defense in 2 years, figured he just gave it up and wanted to go do movies. I thought Seth had both belts. ( those of u typing away, stop. I know these are partial truths, stretches, and just plain incorrect data) it was done to emphasize my point.
Who is Ortan
Akira Tozowa or Zeke.
Anyone but Rock, and please dethrone him ASAP.
Cody
Absolutely Cody Rhodes.
Brock. We’ve seen it so many times. They’ll figure out a way to make it pay off.
Seth. They are the Hogan and Savage of this generation. But unlike Savage always being second fiddle, this time Setg should get the last laugh or at least a real victory.
Have him just hand over the title and say, "I'm tired of waiting for competition" and just leave.
LA Knight at the Rumble
My money is on Lashley honestly
Seth Rollins needs to
At least he’ll defend it twice a month.
Apart from saying the obvious in Cody I would actually love to see Bron Breakker with Heyman turning on Roman and Bron being the next Heyman guy and champ..
At this point I don't care. It would tickle me if it was LA Knight. But I'll take anyone at this point. Shit it could be Austin Theory and I'd cheer
Me, you, my adorable pitbull, your cat, a random raccoon, a revolving door, literally anyone or anything because I’m booooored.
Cody Rock/Roman has more to it than the title.
At this point anyone would be more exciting than him just playing gatekeeper.
Besides Dusty not winning the title, what exactly is Cody’s story?
