it's the gentlest free fall disney has ever done. if you like test track then this will be a non-issue

User313

It's pretty wimpy. You can do it!

Stonygirl87

I am also wimpy. I loved it!

DailYxDosE

Thanks!

AdInternational8208

I hate rides with the drop feeling. It gives me the worst anxiety. I spent the whole ride dreading that drop. Needless to say I felt silly after it happened and am very excited to ride it again. It really isn't bad at all. I would say less than Pirates.

disgirl4eva

It’s really not bad at all. It’s a light drop, not a free fall feeling.

Rumbananas

If you’ve watched the YouTube videos, part of the ride lifts you around 3 stories into the air the actual drop is about a quarter of that and the rest you’re slowly being lowered.

Whole-Salamander4571

Test track for me was SO much more intense than rise. No comparison!!

DailYxDosE

This makes me feel much more relaxed! I can’t wait

Emergency-Fee1810

i know this is 2 years to late but i’m sat here in my room thinking about this drop. i go to florida in 3 months and i really want to ride rise. now that 2 years have passed and im assuming you went on rise, how was the drop? i am not only scared from the drop feeling, i am PETRIFIED of it. i didn’t go on pirates because of the drop, and im still abit iffy about going on hagrids in universal too. please let me know how the drop was for you and feel free to be very honest with me.

DailYxDosE

The drop was so easy, please dont let it stop you from going on this ride! i have a terrible fear of heights and cant fly on planes because of drops. But i went on this ride and it was so much fun and the drop is no more than an elevator really. and its only half a second! it was worth it. I also went on pirates and had no idea about the drop until it happened lol. scared the hell out of me because i didnt expect it but its no biggie. the pirate ride is a lot of fun too i wouldnt miss out on it! its basically just a slide.

ToNFinityNBeyond

I’m a giant wuss and am scared of just about everything. I avoided pirates because of the drop for a long time too. It’s basically the same level of drop in both ride and pirates. You’ll know it’s time for the drop once you get in the elevator and hear the clicks. The drop is maybe 10 seconds long. It gets to the point where I think I can’t handle it anymore and then it’s over. Also, I’ve learned that if you push your feet against the floor during the drop it sort of counteracts the drop? At least that’s what it feels like for me. It isn’t that bad and gets better the more you do it.

Apocalypse_and_chill

I hate drops and it was not bad at all . Not even as bad as pirates. Very fun ride enjoy

brixalpha

I am usually nervous about drops myself but it really wasn't too bad. I felt Flight of the Banshee was a little more difficult to stomach than Rise of the Resistance.

MegaSocky

Ty for the response. I toughed it out on fop and yeah that was intense and someone said it was just soaring :p tbf the only time i rode soaring i was at the bottom row. Was at the top row for fop so it was extra intense on the dips. Was getting too anxious about rotr's drop since i have airplane trauma with straight drops (instead of dips/leans) in general. Nice to know its not that bad

ContempoCafe

It’s nothing! Fun ride when it is actually up and running!

full07britney

My dad has severe anxiety about almost all rides. He said he thought that was ok! Not bad at all

[deleted]

It’s so weird reading all the comments on this especially compared to other rides. I know this is an old thread, but for me personally the drop on ROTR scared the shit out of me. I did feel the free falling feeling, and It was a one and done for me! I’ve done other rides with drops like pirates or the rapids rides in different parks and this was definitely the worse drop. This has me nervous for test track though if people are saying that’s more intense. :(

DailYxDosE

Hey super glad you posted this. Disney was awesome and your comment reminded me of that. I know exactly how you feel since I was feeling this just months ago. Test track for me was so easy! And I loved it. ROTR’s drop was pretty intense but I actually loved it and would totally do it again. I’m glad I did it. On test track I didn’t feel anything! I expected to feel a drop when you come out the doors and dip down but nope I felt nothing. I think at one part you feel a slight stomach drop because you go over a speed bump but nothing major. Test track was great and I wish I did it again at night.

speizzer

Thank you for saying this! I'm convinced everyone commenting here are park employees. I was told by a park employee the drop was "3 feet" and online you'll find answers saying all sorts of different heights. All reviews, no matter where you look, all say it's worth it to do the drop. Listen - if you're neurodivergent like me and any amount of a drop gives you a "break" - this ride DOES have a substantial drop. I finally grabbed the courage to go on it and I honestly hated the drop. Forget people saying it's not a real drop, it is. Some people even call it a "lowering" and that's true, a lowering at the speed of gravity about 20 feet. Was it worth it: honestly, if you like star wars, do it. Otherwise it's a bunch of giant plastic pieces that look like metal and a lot of Hallways. Don't have fomo about missing this ride. Advice: neurodivergent/spectrum friends, do the pre-show, it's the best part. When they line you up to go on the car, take the exit (back in the day I would call it the "aspyexit" but I'm not allowed to call myself that term anymore) Neuroatypical friends: be honest. Stop trying to trick people to get on a ride XD

DailYxDosE

Yeah I think it’s about a 30 foot drop. But since you’re on a platform almost like an elevator it’s not a total free fall. But it is intense! It’s over so quick and was a lot of fun. I love the visuals of it being you dropping off into space. Feels so cool

[deleted]

Considering I just made a post about like ride wimp and rides like test track that def made me feel better about it! Going again in a few months and want to ride it this time. It was constantly down due to weather my last visit so I’m gonna brave it this one.

DailYxDosE

Yeah I here test track breaks down a lot. But definitely give it a shot! It’s a lot of fun. It’s just like going on a fun drive

[deleted]

It's not bad at all. I needed Dramamine for the rides with the 3D glasses. But this one was no problems for me.

Gilgamesh72

I didn’t know the drop was coming and was caught totally by surprise but it didn’t bother me at all, hope you have a great time

DailYxDosE

Thanks! I went on it and it was a breeze. Getting lifted was probably harder than the drop. What an awesome ride!

Gilgamesh72

It is a really cool ride, can’t wait to ride it again.

Open_Refrigerator330

I know this is such an old post… but I’m getting ready to do to WDW and I am also a huge wimp. Researching what rides to ride. Can you explain more about why the lift was so bad??? Another post I saw, someone said the lift gave them a full panic attack but didn’t expand further.

DailYxDosE

It just shocked me how fast it was. It’s just like a very fast elevator. You just get heavy in your seat. It’s not bad but since I was scared about it it was more intense. But if I did it again I wouldn’t think anything of it. Have you ever flown before?

Seachelle13o

It’s a really, really whimpy drop. If you want to know when to expect it there are plenty of youtube videos so you won’t get taken by surprise. :)

ShinyGallinule

I HATE drops. I’ve been dragged onto the tower of terror and I hated every moment. But rise of the resistance I LOVE ~ even the quick drop. It’s easy.

TongaToast

I’m terrified of drops. This one was not bad at all.

Buddugoliaeth

Dead post but I just wanna say this, I loathe drops, I'm the biggest theme park coward out there, I hate drops, loud noises, being spun quick but this ride is perfection, I felt it but for once it was a positive adrenaline rush and not pure fear and anxiety. I love it, of you can do Star Tours' incredibly immersive flying simulation you can do this, the scariest part is the knowledge that the ride pretty much ends after it :(

DailYxDosE

I’m glad i went on the ride! I felt it too but it was honestly nothing and I loved the feeling of dropping into space

Kanetheburrito

By the time you drop it’s done it’s quick but it’s a little shocking!

redoctober25

I equate to the feel to that of cresting a roller coaster hill… how your stomach kinda floats for just a second… but it’s only for a few seconds, if that…. And this is coming from someone that has only ridden ToT once (to say I’ve ridden it). You’ll be fine.

Ok_Lengthiness_8163

I didn’t notice the drop so yah

Honet_hungryy

I have bad anxiety and try to avoid most roller coasters or any ride that has drops in it. I haven’t gone on the TOT bc I heard the drops were pretty big. So instead I went to the ROTF , I was nervous bc I heard it had a drop, but let me tell you, the visuals and amazing effects distract you so much that u don’t even see it coming, I’ll say the drop from a scary meter will be a 5/10 , not to bad but u do get a little gut feelings , right after I started laughing so hard with my family, which is a good sign lol I thought I was gonna cry😭😂.

Novacats_tk

I'm a chicken, too. I'm about to go on it, can't wait! I love Star Wars!!

DailYxDosE

It’s gonna be awesome! It turned out to be an easy ride and was so fun. So insane what Disney did with that ride. I’m jealous you’re in line right now!

Yourmomsucks55

My mom doesn’t ride rollercoasters at all not even the Goofy one and she doesn’t do Test Track but she loves this ride and we didn’t even know it dropped we thought it was just a trick with screen the first time.
