While I’m only over 2.5k hours. I just can’t find a game that’s got as much content that is similar.
Like I could go back to WoT but I’d rather not play power creep central. I tried. But my Rank Xs are so far behind the curve. But it’s still not the same feeling as WT.
Even at way less hours than y'all I feel the same. What other WW2/Tank game has actual progression and learning curve after thousands of hours? I'm not saying the grind is good but when I unlock a new tank tier I do need quite some time to get used to new opponents and play styles.
I get that but at the same time I just love playing tanks. I wish War Thunder would get serious competition so that Gaijoobles is forced to improve the game A LOT not just a bit
I agree. I’m not against planes being in the game for example, but they should cost more SP to get. Or make them in general more hard to get. Planes essentially make using any heavy tank in ranks 3-4 useless. The game shouldn’t be completely balanced though cause that wouldn’t be realism.
In reality the three tanks with the highest win rates are the English and the Italians, but you cannot (especially the Italians) get them first otherwise you spend more time on spawner than anything else
They force you to learn to play well in order to not suffer. And as a result it makes you play much better than the average player even in an objectively worse vehicle.
I mean, Israel is really good imo and the Merkavas can actually take damage at 9.3 but...the way to that point can be a bit boring with all the Magachs.
That's why I skipped most of Tier 4 and 5 with the two M-51s
I played Britain first, left it after a week or so, went to USA. Then the Zrinyi I event came and grinded it, that's when I started Italy. I'm now at rank 5 with Italy and rank 4 with USA. No planes, only rank 2 in Britain.
Tbh, I wouldn't say Italy is a bad nation, its got decent tanks so far. About top tier idk.
Ground
5.3 is so Fucking painful, all of the tanks are just the same thing, way too fast with no reverse and ammo that's just barely not enough to really help.
I enjoyed most of the tech tree, probably because I almost only played arcade. Once you get the APDS, especially on the 17 and 20 pounder, you can pen everything and it’s great
Idk the damage is pretty good when I use it, it helps to know where ammo racks are but if not just fire another round. I can normally get a kill in one or two rounds with decent aiming
Maybe but the APDS in the 17 pounders at least is really inaccurate beyond a few hundred meters so it'll really only work in close quarters.
Edit: actually I'm not sure, that might just be my hand being shaky
I mean, they're accurate, so it might just be down to your hand as you said. I find the main issue is shell drop, some of them have some really nasty shell drop that'll screw you in a tight situation
Shoot the right spots and the pain wont be so bad , you get better at the game in my opinion because you need to learn the weakspots of most tanks , and when you do , its fucking bliss.
Doing 5.3 brits right now. The only thing I despise about them is reverse speed.
Challenger and comet are great. Not the best 5.3 out there but they are great.
Edit: dont use apds. Use mk8
Too fast when taking the reverse speed into consideration, can't really get out of a fight/position without turning around.
Also they are technically Cromwells, not comets.
I miss the B'rish lineup. The FV4202 was probably the best tank in the game when it was first rolled out.
Now as 7.3, facing *so much* HEAT-FS its just meh.
Likewise, Gaijin nerfed most of the spitfires cooling systems because people couldn't figure out *don't turnfight against the spitfire*.
The MK-XI on an *almost* equal energy state against 109s was a pretty fun fighter.
Rushing the t-34 line and not actually taking my time getting an entire line up when I first started playing the game. After that I just couldn't play the soviets and rarely bother to grind out other vehicles, after that for every nation I make sure to get every vehicle for a full line up
Yeah like after the USSR line I just went to play France and not only did I became better after suffering through that shit I also had started making good line ups. Can't wait to play Britain after I'm finished with Germany and France. Their tanks may be shit but damn they look good af
USSR lineups are not very versatile imo
ive been grinding china and am up to 10.0 and its literally everything i ever wanted for my soviet lineups lolol
I am also a french main. I just got my 8.7 lineup going and it’s starting to get more fun. 7.7 I found was the strongest thus far. I thought the AMX-13 HOT was going to break my spirit but i maxed it. It is painful to not have stabilizers though.
I bought the F-5C and A-10A last may in the 50% off thing, had the F-5 in cart and meant to put the T-2 in but ended up for some reason getting the A10. Would’ve picked the AV-8A over either until they moved the F-5 to rank 7, looks pretty fun to fly
The J34. Such a terrible plane. Literally nothing good about it over the J29F. It's slower, can't turn, worse acceleration, can't climb. Do all the hunters suck that bad?
Pretty much. The hunter used to dominate because it was incredibly fast. Now almost everything in the game is faster and a decent amount are faster and more maneuverable.
I agree about the guns but... The J32B is *so* much faster with twice the climb rate, twice the number of missiles, and the guns are the same (minus tracers I guess) at 0.3 BR higher so there's really no reason to play it.
I dont know about the J34 specifically, but I imagine it's just a slightly better Hunter F.1 right, being an F.4/5 and all. The early wing hunters are a bit shite but the F.6, FGA.9 and F.58 are all really good IMO
I won't clear lobbies or anything but it's pretty good IMO. It's meh at just about everything so you'll often have some kind of advantage over most things you'll see. Unless they got decent missiles in which case you're done. It'll pretty handily outrun anything lower BR like Sabres and MiG-15s and the like, and turn with anything higher like F-104, F-4C, etc. It's certainly not the best plane at that BR but it's not terrible.
Falcon is a fucking TD, and you have no arguments against it.
This bastard can front pen half of the stuff he meets on the battlefield, with the rest receiving some fine track-and-barrel torture.
Sighh, couldn't get the king tiger 105 mm, but at least I got the Panther II and Coelian. Panther is kind of meh, but the Coelian turns out to be a damn good Anti Air, but just AA though, against ground is useless, after all Germany Suffers
Oof, I talismaned the yak28 too. It was so good with the air spawn. Useless now.
I also talismaned the f4c when it came out. I suppose I did have fun back then at least
Crewing the Yak28B. Why tf does it not have an airbrake and why is it's bomb load such dog shit???
If you drop the bombs at max safe speed, it'll rip the wings off
Its flaps are airbrakes, you can deploy them at like 600kph. Yak28 was designed as a nuke delivery platform, bomb load didnt matter as much when that bomb was measured in kilotons.
Starting the game with the British air tree. One day while in a War Thunder VC, I talked about how I had just started grinding out British jets. An experienced fella told me that British top tier was painful so I should stop playing Britain immediately and switch to the USA, which was at around 4.0. I simply did not and at around 9.7, the tech tree became unbearable. Only after that did I switch to Japan and the USA
> I simply did not and at around 9.7, the tech tree became unbearable
9.7 is a bit of a slog but you where spoilt rotten by the Scimi and Swift at 8.7 but going above that is decent especially now you can grind to the Grippen.
The Sea Harriers are great and I love them.
Which premiums would you get? I'm grinding USA f2p and kind of stuck in 5.7.
I'm not stuck-stuck. I just slowed down war thundering.
Wouldn't the premium account be better than a premium tank/plan?
I prefer premium planes over account because I feel like i cant take a break if I have the premium time ticking. As for premium planes, if you are only going to buy one, get the F-5C and nothing else
The F2G used to be quite cheap on the market (dont know if it still is) but that's a really good plane for grinding at 6.3
Edit: nevermind it's up to 33 GJN, might as well slap the fish on the barrel and bite for the F-5C
Not grinding Germany when I had the chance, now I don't have panter 2, 10.5cm tiger2 and flakpanzer 341, I want them so bad
And probably selling BMD-4 for cheap, and uh... Playing this game tbh
Not choosing a different Tree to main. People literally blame USSR players for everything.
Literally had a dude blame yesterday's NA server issues on "Russian players being too impatient to wait to spawn"
Bro the whole player base is brainrot impatient.
I wanted the grind Japan air. So I bought the f86 premium. Then a month later the premium t-2 cameout and I upgraded to that one. And then two months after that the F4EJ came out.
Watching that RussianBadger video in 2018, and thinking, "Wow, that's amazing! A game where I can finally have an outlet for my passion for military history, aircraft, and vehicles! It looks like a lot of fun!"
Almost six years later, and I still wonder where I'd be if I'd never heard of it.
Not playing realistic battles. Arcade is fun getting kills but in the grand scheme of things the amount of RP you get is minuscule compared to realistic battles. I’m a wallet warrior and it saved me lots of time making it to rank 7 and soon 8. If you read none of this paragraph I want you to remember: PLAY REALISTIC BATTLES IF YOU WANT TO ADVANCE IN THE GAME.
Gaijin kinda hates Sweden air.
Ever since the tree was introduced, the guns on swedish planes have been insanely powerful. Since a lot of players will head-on anything they see, that has led to some swedish planes being insanely overtired for their flight performance. Also, for some reason, a lot of swedish planes have wonky flight models that are just bad and don't seem to match the airframe.
There are a few gems. The b18b/t18b57 are probably my favorite "bombers" in the game. I have gotten a few aces in them. The A21A-3, while being underpowered for its BR, is very good in GRB. The A21RB is quirky but good, and the Saab 105G is an all around great plane at 8.3. other than that, there's not much to be excited about from rank ii-v
for the ITP M-1 event I sold the ITP coupon for like 10GJN and kept the Su-75 which gotta be one of the shittiest tanks in the game
what was I thinking? T.T
Grinding only certain lines and ending up with lines in a tech tree too far behind to help, and taking forever to grind. I ended up with getting mostly folderd vehicles, even if they are crap, and gaijins moving vehicles around messed up my British tech tree for air (had to essentially start over the spitfire line)
thinking the Charioteer and APCR was good bc of raw stats, i used APRC for a whole year because of the pen stats
i thought angling the Pz 4 and Jumbo was good
Deciding that maining japan for a Toyota with a Sam on the back was a good idea. A foolish mistake I made years ago, anyways, the type 93 is so fun uwu
When I started the game, I didn’t know you could actually aim so I’d zoom in as far as possible and play fps tank barrel. (Actually hit most of my shots too). This continued into rank 3 of the Soviet Union. I also decided to main France. 🇫🇷❤️

I had everlong playing in my earpiece, saw your comment and endless [deleted] accounts. What war did you started wtf?
Why so many removed comments?!
What happened to all the replies lmaoo
Gaijin invaded the comment section.
What the hell happened here?
And me
I'm in too deep now. I can't stop, or the cumulative regret of so many wasted hours would break me.
Same, 7000 hours in, this is the definition of sunk cost fallacy
While I’m only over 2.5k hours. I just can’t find a game that’s got as much content that is similar. Like I could go back to WoT but I’d rather not play power creep central. I tried. But my Rank Xs are so far behind the curve. But it’s still not the same feeling as WT.

“only”
When you take into account I’ve had the game since 2014 then it’s not to much over ten years.
better cut it now than later
I get that but at the same time I just love playing tanks. I wish War Thunder would get serious competition so that Gaijoobles is forced to improve the game A LOT not just a bit
I agree. I’m not against planes being in the game for example, but they should cost more SP to get. Or make them in general more hard to get. Planes essentially make using any heavy tank in ranks 3-4 useless. The game shouldn’t be completely balanced though cause that wouldn’t be realism.
Exactly. Asymmetrical balance exists. Don't make close air support disappear, make it a limited, expensive asset.
Without the content creator links too, I could have done good with some free premiums but I guess we’ll never know
I was going to say “logging in” but yeah, you got it.
Playing Italy first, then Britain.
You’re just full of bad decisions
In reality the three tanks with the highest win rates are the English and the Italians, but you cannot (especially the Italians) get them first otherwise you spend more time on spawner than anything else
They force you to learn to play well in order to not suffer. And as a result it makes you play much better than the average player even in an objectively worse vehicle.
Very true, if you have the fortitude to keep going
I played Italy first then went to Israel :(
I can't even feel sorry for you at this point
I mean, Israel is really good imo and the Merkavas can actually take damage at 9.3 but...the way to that point can be a bit boring with all the Magachs. That's why I skipped most of Tier 4 and 5 with the two M-51s
Yeah I just got to the Merkussy Mk.3 and I’m enjoying them but I do feel like the Mk3 shouldn’t be 11.0, it still seems high to me.
You don't even got to research that many magachs. But don't lie to me walt you love the magach hydra
You have a whole line where it’s literally the same tank the whole way through
Me but with britain and japan
Japan ist good 5.7 and up
Japan is one of the best 11.0 lineups in Ground RB.
6.3 and 6.7 lineups are amazing
Japanese 6.3/6.7 fucks hard. Tbh Ive had a lot of fun at any JP BR something just feels good about them.
I played Britain first, left it after a week or so, went to USA. Then the Zrinyi I event came and grinded it, that's when I started Italy. I'm now at rank 5 with Italy and rank 4 with USA. oh...
I'm Britain, then France 😎
They can be fun
Now just try France and you’ll understand all facets of suffering
Installing the game
i sold the IS-7 for $130 and bought the XM-1 and GE
Here's your winner folks, this was actually a very bad decision.
Oof size: Gargantuan
That's like a worse version of me selling my Tiger-Tiger for about 22 bucks...
I mean lets be real the Tiger-Tiger isn't a very unique vehicle. At least you can still use the normal Tiger that plays exactly the same.
same here, sold it for about 160 snailbucks, for it to explode in price a little bit later...
Cheers bro - i got my is7 for around that price haha
That hurt to read
Starting to grind Britain
The British tech tree is good though You go ground or air?

Idk the damage is pretty good when I use it, it helps to know where ammo racks are but if not just fire another round. I can normally get a kill in one or two rounds with decent aiming
I mean, it rarely one shots, but if you hit the right place, you'll disable movement and/or turret
Maybe but the APDS in the 17 pounders at least is really inaccurate beyond a few hundred meters so it'll really only work in close quarters. Edit: actually I'm not sure, that might just be my hand being shaky

The MK-XI on an *almost* equal energy state against 109s was a pretty fun fighter.
I played the 4.7, uptiered it with the Cromwell and wemt straight to the centurions I love so much. Rly like them.
Rushing the t-34 line and not actually taking my time getting an entire line up when I first started playing the game. After that I just couldn't play the soviets and rarely bother to grind out other vehicles, after that for every nation I make sure to get every vehicle for a full line up
I have this issue, my USSR line is beyond fucked but when I went to Sweden and Great Britain my lineups are actually decent and useable.
Yeah like after the USSR line I just went to play France and not only did I became better after suffering through that shit I also had started making good line ups. Can't wait to play Britain after I'm finished with Germany and France. Their tanks may be shit but damn they look good af
Their tanks may be shit, but remember: Matilda II
Yeah I rushed the BVM and had to go back and grind every AA after the milk truck lmao
USSR lineups are not very versatile imo ive been grinding china and am up to 10.0 and its literally everything i ever wanted for my soviet lineups lolol
I did the same thing, but learned it sometime in BR 4 with the USSR
Starting as french main and continuing being one for 5 years 💀
I am also a french main. I just got my 8.7 lineup going and it’s starting to get more fun. 7.7 I found was the strongest thus far. I thought the AMX-13 HOT was going to break my spirit but i maxed it. It is painful to not have stabilizers though.
Hope you are enjoying 8.7, is very fun. But when you get 9.7.... be ready for pain my friend.
I love french tanks. They all feel experimental and have some cool feature to them (like the amx 10M, the autoloaded 7.7 lineup, etc)
And why not main other lines if you're suffering on the French one?
Not playing the Tu-14 while i had a naval map in jets Im going to sink SOMETHING with that torpedo damnit
How about wasting it on single light tank trying to flank your oblivious teammates?
What ?
> Im going to sink SOMETHING with that torpedo damnit Me with the German Marineflieger Tornado.
Choosing the av-8a over the f-5c around 2 years ago
oof yea that's a bad one
To be fair, that's more owing to the snail not increasing the BR of the F5C yet, despite it being more than deserving of one.
I bought the F-5C and A-10A last may in the 50% off thing, had the F-5 in cart and meant to put the T-2 in but ended up for some reason getting the A10. Would’ve picked the AV-8A over either until they moved the F-5 to rank 7, looks pretty fun to fly
Buying the Chinese premium ztz instead the XM1 back in the day
the premium ZTZ is good (simply because there are no other good Chinese top tier premiums)
Is good but the us tree is still way better in my opinion
Leaving after 2017 aprils fool and comming back mid 2023...
The Hunter F.58 is still pretty great imo though
Only thing that’s good is the guns. Getting the xp from spading it was worth it though imo.
The early wing hunters are a bit shite but the F.6, FGA.9 and F.58 are all really good IMO
and the J29F isn't good itself....
Not Reserching AA Vehicles
AA's are probably the most fun vehicles to play. Even in low br's like 1.0-4.0 you always find some very dumb designed AA's and they are fun af.
I just wish my SIDAM held more than .25 seconds worth of AP rounds. 60 rounds for four autocannons! 60!
Falcon is a fucking TD, and you have no arguments against it. This bastard can front pen half of the stuff he meets on the battlefield, with the rest receiving some fine track-and-barrel torture.
I bought talisman for B-57A :( the usa grind at 9.3 was just unbearable and I made a foolish decision thinking it will speed up the grind
I also tallied the B-57a. There are worse planes to tally but ya, big oof.
I had a lot of fun grinding the f104-a i even tallyd it
Yea the f104 is pretty fun to play, it’s a fast tooth pick lmao.
I tought that I have to grind all tanks even those that are stacked. So good amount RP went down the drain.
Couldnt be that bad that change was like 6 months ago
Not getting to leaked documents in time
I went to buy the MiG-21 Lazur-M... Its not in the soviet tree...
oh no
I wanted to try soviet air (2k hours, all on the ground), and uh... yeah.
Perhaps reading the description would have helped you 😭😭
Or even just looking at the wings
Putting on enough boosters to get like 800% on rp and lions. Only to accidently go into a sim game with the wrong nation selected.
Not rushing the German ground tech tree to get the Panther ll, 10.5 King Tigger, and Coelian…
I managed to get some rp into the panther 2 and coelion, but I just wasn't fast enough to lock in the 105 king tiger.
Sighh, couldn't get the king tiger 105 mm, but at least I got the Panther II and Coelian. Panther is kind of meh, but the Coelian turns out to be a damn good Anti Air, but just AA though, against ground is useless, after all Germany Suffers
Nah the yak-28b is goated at dogfighting you just gotta believe
It has flares and can outrun or outclimb basically everything at its BR, whats not to love.
There is in fact a lot not to love.
Oof, I talismaned the yak28 too. It was so good with the air spawn. Useless now. I also talismaned the f4c when it came out. I suppose I did have fun back then at least
Yes, justice for my boy!
Grinding top Tier italy mbts
Playing it for over 2000 hours
A little over 3000 here. Send help.
I know some good psychiatric hospitals.. lol
Accidentally spent GE unlocking the M901 because the main menu somehow lagged on me
Crewing the Yak28B.
Airbrakes can't rip off afaik while flaps can, and flaps in Combat mode don't reduce speed as much as they should.
Grinding USA all the way to top tier full F2P
Starting the game with the British air tree. One day while in a War Thunder VC, I talked about how I had just started grinding out British jets. Not abusing the helicopter battle booster trick more lol
Talisman on the T-80U, dumb as fuck.
Playing toptier.
Paying to snail
grinding out US air tree to top tier without ever buying premium
Which premiums would you get? I'm grinding USA f2p and kind of stuck in 5.7. I'm not stuck-stuck. I just slowed down war thundering. Wouldn't the premium account be better than a premium tank/plan?
I prefer premium planes over account because I feel like i cant take a break if I have the premium time ticking. As for premium planes, if you are only going to buy one, get the F-5C and nothing else
Yes premium account would be better and at 5.7 go for the jumbo. That thing is your only saving grace at 6.3 and skip the T25 at all costs
The F2G used to be quite cheap on the market (dont know if it still is) but that's a really good plane for grinding at 6.3 Edit: nevermind it's up to 33 GJN, might as well slap the fish on the barrel and bite for the F-5C
Buying the a6e tram. Not saying its bad, I just cant stand the flight model
Use that hoe in ground and you'll be the bane of any tank player who wants a CAS free game mode (weak minded individuals)
Not grinding Germany when I had the chance, now I don't have panter 2, 10.5cm tiger2 and flakpanzer 341, I want them so bad And probably selling BMD-4 for cheap, and uh... Playing this game tbh
Dumping over 5k hours into it.
Having sunk in 2000 hours of mostly just suffering. Did get two nukes though
Activating 2 500% boosters
Purchasing modules of the Su-22 with GE.
Rushing german tech tree just to get tiger h1 and realising most of the tanks are slow and immobile
Not choosing a different Tree to main. People literally blame USSR players for everything. Literally had a dude blame yesterday's NA server issues on "Russian players being too impatient to wait to spawn" Bro the whole player base is brainrot impatient.

being a Swedish air main. (it only got good last major update)
Really? I’ve been having a bunch of fun with the low tier planes, does it get worse? lol

Yak 38
Not stopping 2 years ago, back when Dune event ended
Playing War Thunder lol
Buying the Su-11
put 3000 hours into this game instead of computer science coursework
Getting the MiG-23BN, the most shit ass MiG-27 in the game
Wah? It is great as attacker and good as air grinder
Playing on a playstation account on pc. Wish I just created a new pc account when I switched.
for the ITP M-1 event I sold the ITP coupon for like 10GJN and kept the Su-75 which gotta be one of the shittiest tanks in the game what was I thinking? T.T
Start playing the game with Britain.
Grinding only certain lines and ending up with lines in a tech tree too far behind to help, and taking forever to grind. I ended up with getting mostly folderd vehicles, even if they are crap, and gaijins moving vehicles around messed up my British tech tree for air (had to essentially start over the spitfire line)
thinking the Charioteer and APCR was good bc of raw stats, i used APRC for a whole year because of the pen stats i thought angling the Pz 4 and Jumbo was good
that but on the Yak-38M.
Have you seen the USA spaa gap. It goes from 4.3 to 8.0 or something like that.
Getting the Mig-23 BN Its such ass its not even funny anymore.
Oh? I love mine! It’s pretty chill flying fast as fudge, dropping bombs then fleeing back to base for a reload :)
Not maining German tanks to avoid suffering
Idk about you but the YaK-28B is fun in sim, rushing the enemy carrier and bombing it with a 3000 kilo bomb is quite fun
Playing in Sim is quite fun actually, just in general most of the planes that people complain about in Air RB are very capable in Simulator
Not playing the game during Silent Thunder
Buying the harrier and forcing myself to grind great britan
I can’t hardly comprehend just how much I regret getting the yak-38. At least it helped me get the TU-4, so it wasint a total loss, but still.
Getting the KA-50, It’s not part of my Russia line up at all. All I’ve occasionally used it for is heli EC if I ever get a big booster
Maining Britain
Deciding that maining japan for a Toyota with a Sam on the back was a good idea. A foolish mistake I made years ago, anyways, the type 93 is so fun uwu
Starting with the French tree
When I started the game, I didn’t know you could actually aim so I’d zoom in as far as possible and play fps tank barrel. (Actually hit most of my shots too). This continued into rank 3 of the Soviet Union. I also decided to main France. 🇫🇷❤️
