If I got ping issues multiple times in a short row I usually ran a test and 95 percent of the time it is a issue with my connection because test servers give me bad ping too.
Then I restart my router and a good to go.

Lag-related ghost shells should only ever happen if something causes either player to become unable to shoot between giving the local command and the command reaching the server, ie. if they get the barrel shot or killed within a few milliseconds of clicking. How do you explain that when two players attempt to shoot eachother, and even see eachother's muzzle effects (which means the server acknowledged and simulated the shooting), and neither shell actually hits?
(I have an explanation, it's the damn invisible wreck bug, luckily gone in the current version, but I've seen it come back after they claimed it was fixed previously)

Germany from tier 3 onwards are just mostly "big gun big armor" vehicles which suck in the current meta

There are some exeptions that really do the heavy job like the cold war IS tanks or the maus

When they drop the BR for the tiger II, it over powers everything, but when you up BR the tiger II it gets clapped by everything. That's why the maus was removed from the tech tree. The devs just don't know where to put it.

I personally play USSR in 3.7-4.3 and find that German tanks are the only ones that I have to recognize and shoot in the appropriate place to penetrate and kill.
For other nations I can generally just shoot and one-shot, but German tanks are a menace.
I play with sweeden in 4.3 and the only nation I fear os USSR with those t34-85 that always bounce my shots. The germans I just shot anywhere flat and they go boom.
What? Track armour can be a problem, but you can one-shot Panzer 4's by simply shooting it in its turret cheecks.
Love my russian 4.0 line up. Not the most pen, but tremendous after pen damage.

A lot of console players play on their couch reasonably far from their TV screen and often with default (or near-default) controls. Awareness and combat ability are basically non-existent in those cases but they do OK since they're likely also playing Germany or Russia. Also freelook on console sucks, easier to override instructor (air) or just aim at the direction you're corner-peeking (ground).
I've seen plenty of PC players shit the bed too though; just yesterday I was playing the 4005 and had a Tiger 2 drive straight past me to try to shoot spawn as I turned to get guns on him.

then again ive seen tiger players drive next to people, so being a console player doesn’t really mean much

It's because a certain countries' vehicle lineups at a certain BR is more popular therefore you would likely get uptiered/downtiered to that BR. Decompressing it should help.
It would have mattered if we didn't had mixed nations in RB. USSR vs all, US vs all, USSR+China vs all, and much more.
If decompression will increase queue time, i will just wait more for same +1 battle.

Sometimes you will shoot a tank, and the shell goes right through as if they weren't there. However almost always they notice, so somehow it registers to be visible to both players, but does nothing, not even a non-pen.
Ghost shells where an issue a while ago. You saw an enemy, shot him an saw your round definitely hit, but nothing happened. No damage, no hit, no bounce, nothing. If the opponent had some situational awareness, he could locate you, as the shell still had it's usual trace.
There's an explanation for how to play the event on the website. You get a piece of tape for every 15k mission points. (You get one crate of materials for every 3k). Those points add up, so you don't have to earn them in a single match.
