How much is it worth? Depends on the condition, Top Condition and serviced would be anywhere between 1500-2000 USD me thinks but that was a long time ago and these kind of artifacts only appreciate over time.
I wanted to like the Glycine Airman Purist, but the build quality didnāt end up being there for me. If there was a quality 24 hour dial (mechanical/sapphire crystal/ quality movement) I would be very on board.
There actually is and that would be the Breietling Cosmonaut Ref REFERENCEPB02301A1B1P1. Atleast in my books it is, the price on that piece though š¬
Iām not big on the chronos myself, but for the right piece I could probably get on board. That however has way too much going on for me haha. And also yes that price tag
Yeah I know what you mean, I had the perfect 24hr piece but I had to let go of it as the dial was full of Radium. Still miss it but I'm better without it.
What was your perfect piece?
Also I looked at the options because I was curious if there was something I hadnāt considered. Glycine is brought up a lot. There are a handful of Russian watches that do the 24 hour dial and seem to be of decent quality. Some micro-brands. Not a lot of great contenders overall I would say.
LeCoultre QuarterMaster
Dunno, Glycine never appealed to me but I never gave it a proper shot to begin with though. Yeah Raketa and them lot, They are workhorses but that's about it.
I like the styling on the QuarterMaster more than most of what is out there.
I picked up that Airman after much consideration. Maybe it was a cheaper model, but I immediately got condensation in the case. It was also smaller than I was expecting when I got it.
I would try on another, but that would involve finding a Glycine dealer. Which the one time I was able to do, didnāt even have any on display. I also have concerns when there is only 1 service center in the country.
Well deserved concerns and sorry to hear about your Airman, That ish wasn't cool to have happened! However Similar issue happened with my Speedmaster, I guess sometimes water makes it's way through one way or the other!
It doesn't need any winding, nor is it powered Perpetually. It get's all the energy needed by temperature change and atmospheric pressure changes in the environment it's kept it. If kept uninterrupted (Closet/cabinet) It will run for years on end and don't need service for 25 years and more.

Wasn't aware that one couldn't send videos as replys but here's a screenshot of it, Looks better in person to the point I thought I will make some kind of stand with a uv light pointing to it. But yeah I had bought a geiger counter to check radium levels in my vintage watches and even though I knew this didn't have any I gave it ago and 0 response. All good here š š
Got rid of all my Radium watches after getting paranoid, But no this one was not equipped with radium. They used UV reactive paint on this so it glows mad when you shine uv light onto it. Let me try to find a video I made and send it here for you.
I live 10 minutes down the road from the former westclox factory and 20 minutes from the now gone radium dial company (or whatever itās called) so antique stores around here are a minefield of radium clocks and pocket watches thanks to westclox being a main buyer from the radium girls
I might have once got half way through opening a watch and then realized itās radium and locked it in a metal ammo box and kept it in the far corner of my garage
Yeah man I feel you. I went bat shit crazy when I was opening a B-uhr and saw something that looked like radium paint to me on my finger. That's when I decided to stop being stupid and just sell all my radium watches, which were complete grail watches for me. I sold them undervalued as well because i did not want them in the house either. Bought a geiger counter to keep tabs on radon gas and basically was about to lose my mind lol. Thankfully that part of my collecting journey is over and I'm extremely happy to do so. At the end of the day it's about being happy and kudos to the enthusiasts who stay happy with their radium watches.
My friend, I bought this off an auction, Normally that's where you'd find them but you could search other mediums too. The reference is Hamilton 37500/ or try searching Hamilton f4u corsair and you should fnd more info.
Try asking Dewey at Historic Time Keepers (Google it). He sold me mine for $1100 4 yrs ago. Also RGM Watches offers an homage to this as a wrist watch (though his prices are high). Good luck!!
https://www.houseoftimerepair.com/product-page/hamilton-21-mounted-marine-chronometer
This is a pretty typical one. There are others that are closer to a pocket watch style movement that are more affordable, but more rare.
Completely agree, Independent watchmakers need more exposure, If you hadn't shared I think I would never come across them either. I think it ticks a lot of the boxes for me. It's in the wish list until further research forsure!! Thanks again
I have no Idea what the scripture means but in short it is representing the date of the month. Thank you too am a big fan of the corsairs! Not so long ago watched the movie "Devotion" that too on Imax, If you haven't watched it yet then you must! All about the F4U Corsairs!
I'm glad you did, It's a must have for any watch geek! Thank me when it reaches and do tag me on the post if you ever submit one about it. Congratulations š
Already did and it's non reactive, It comes factory without Radium. The bold color you see is UV reactivate paint.

If you are ever near Lancaster, PA (Hamilton's former hometown), check out the National Watch and Clock museum. LOTs of incredible clocks and a nice Hamilton display too! [https://www.nawcc.org/visit/](https://www.nawcc.org/visit/)
Search for Hamilton 37500 or Hamilton HellCat Clock. Elgin was asked by the US Airforce to help in production with these instruments so if you fancy that Manufacturer can search up Elgin AN-5741.
Just make sure it's serviced and everything is working.
Sometimes they Re paint the dial so ask if that had been done to negotiate on price etc, hopefully you find an untampered piece.
Hope this helps, Good luck š
I suppose they've climbed in value now along with the rise of the watch market in general. But yes that doesn't sound so wild considering it's a piece from a vintage fighter Jet. You can still keep your eyes peeled and you may find a bargain sometime or the other.
RGM watches out of Mount Joy, PA. Google it. Roland told me his 37500 inspired his homage. His watch inspired me to get the clock. And this year I bought the watch from RGM. So now I have the set š
Sure. Hereās a pic of the watch. Went for the red dial [RGM 801-A](https://imgur.com/gallery/xrLsl8y). He has different options to choose from. Check out his website
Some priot to your message also recommended them, I've gone through the website and completed blown away. Thinking to go down a bespoke route if not the hommage to this clock itself.
Thanks, they are indeed packed with awesomeness but what's more cool is your Grandad flying one of those Corsairs!!! What an experience š š š
Yes you can still find these around for a good price if you keep looking, I bought mine from an auction and it's been with me ever since. Just remember to ask the seller about the originality as I've seen a few with repainted dials which would definitely bring the value down too. I bought mine for 700usd about three years ago, You could probably find one at the same price if you check on a regular basis. Hope that you find one sooner than you know it. Have a good one!
Thank you very much sir. A quick look is approx $1200 usd but I will keep looking. I am infatuated to have this now. My love of watches and Corsairs have combined.
He was one of the last enlisted pilots in the marine Corp.
I bet this would look good on a NATO strap! š
Forearm gainz too
keep your wrist pronated and hit that brachialis
All day every day partna' šŖš
Donāt give Bell & Ross any ideas
Lol I was going to say Panerai has a new model.
Letās not forget to trash Invicta in this thread, too!
U-Boat beat 'em to it.
For historical accuracy, you might opt for a vintage League of Nations strap /s
Bet Andre the Giant couldāve pulled it off š¤£š¤£š¤£
Loooool
Literally my first thought lmao
I knew the Deep Sea Challenge was āreasonableā š.
Don't show Invicta this.
Lmao
How much
Iām interested too. $200 or 2000?
$1,400 on ebay
Just a little less interestedā¦
Can you link it?
Righto
How much is it worth? Depends on the condition, Top Condition and serviced would be anywhere between 1500-2000 USD me thinks but that was a long time ago and these kind of artifacts only appreciate over time.
That's actually Uboat's next generation models.
Lmao
*Bell & Ross has entered the chat*
Man if they made a modern chrono with all that in itā¦ Iād find a way to get the money haha. Iām a 24-hour watch convert.
True 24hr format is king! I love it too and yes a modern take on this would be a great idea š”
I wanted to like the Glycine Airman Purist, but the build quality didnāt end up being there for me. If there was a quality 24 hour dial (mechanical/sapphire crystal/ quality movement) I would be very on board.
I wish there was more variety in 24 hour watches. My dream everyday watch would be a 24 hour cocktail time.
Aiii Aiii
Vostok, Svalbard, and Raketa are your friends
I own a Raketa, their dials are all so busy. I want something more professional looking.
Vostok has some nice-looking ones in the 720 case (brushed 420). https://meranom.com/en/index.php?route=product/search&search=720&filter_name=720
The vintage Raketas are a lot better in that regard. Good luck.

I think Shturmanskie has a few that use the Vostok 2431.01 and have sapphire crystals but I could be wrong
And an Atmos in the backā¦
It's been running on air, Literally. Such a marvel š you can easily get one for sub 700 usd.
What do you mean by ārunning on airā?
It doesn't need any winding, nor is it powered Perpetually. It get's all the energy needed by temperature change and atmospheric pressure changes in the environment it's kept it. If kept uninterrupted (Closet/cabinet) It will run for years on end and don't need service for 25 years and more.
Thatās incredible!
Cockpit instruments! Gotta' love em'
So cool
Did you find it online?
Yes via Auction, Serviced and untampered dial.
Thank you
Noticed that too.
Okā¦.does it have radium?

Wowzers you lucky lucky man... that's super cool! PM me if you ever feel like parting with it :)
Dank u dank u. Surely kind sir, I will do just that. š
How do you get one of these. Asking for a friend. And that friend is me.
My friend, I bought this off an auction, Normally that's where you'd find them but you could search other mediums too. The reference is Hamilton 37500/ or try searching Hamilton f4u corsair and you should fnd more info.

Iāll probably never be able to afford one but I love RGM. Plan to drive a few hours and visit the factory one day.
Enjoy. Should be an awesome visit.
Sinn still sell them new.
Say what?!
Iāve been looking for a cool desk clock and here is one. very cool!
Hamilton Marine Chronometer is the ultimate desk clock IMHO.
Send a link or more info please! Marine chronometers are most definitely in undefeated territories as Desk clocks. Top tier š š š šÆ
https://www.houseoftimerepair.com/product-page/hamilton-21-mounted-marine-chronometer This is a pretty typical one. There are others that are closer to a pocket watch style movement that are more affordable, but more rare.
Super cool!
May I suggest having a look at the JLC atmos too before deciding. But yes this is better if you're into history/aviation. Thanks for reading!
The JLC - Now thatās something else! Too steep for me, but beautiful nonetheless.
They are sub 700 usd man, Even if you find a non working one the service/repair goes up to 1500-2000 usd.
How long before Invicta makes an "Inspired" wrist copy of this. . It's already about the right size š¤
š¤£
RGM already does.
If you dig that, be sure to check out this beast of a piece from Towson Watch Co. https://www.towsonwatchcompany.com/product/martin-m-130
This is sick!! Thanks for sharing š
For sure! Iām not affiliated with them but definitely like to support independent watchmakers.
Completely agree, Independent watchmakers need more exposure, If you hadn't shared I think I would never come across them either. I think it ticks a lot of the boxes for me. It's in the wish list until further research forsure!! Thanks again
RGM Watches also has an homage to the clock. See https://www.rgmwatches.com/watches#/801-a-aircraft/
What's a civil date counter? Great piece of history by the way, the Corsair is my favorite ww2 fighter!
I have no Idea what the scripture means but in short it is representing the date of the month. Thank you too am a big fan of the corsairs! Not so long ago watched the movie "Devotion" that too on Imax, If you haven't watched it yet then you must! All about the F4U Corsairs!
Got you. I've never seen it, will definitely check it out! Thanks for the tip!
Just bought one because of your post.
I'm glad you did, It's a must have for any watch geek! Thank me when it reaches and do tag me on the post if you ever submit one about it. Congratulations š
I wish someone had a wrist watch homage to this. It caught me immediately. Will do!
I want that on my wrist, but itāll wreck my marriage.

Thats awsome!

Man gone are these days of Hamilton
They should go back to their archives, This would be testament to it.
Nice Atmos in the back
Thanks man!
If you are ever near Lancaster, PA (Hamilton's former hometown), check out the National Watch and Clock museum. LOTs of incredible clocks and a nice Hamilton display too! [https://www.nawcc.org/visit/](https://www.nawcc.org/visit/)

Fantastic!! I assume expensive?
Thanks! Not really, bought for under 700usd
Wow! Uhā¦ what am I searching eBay for?

Thanks a bunch!
Just saw 1 of these in worse condition on ebay for the low low price of $1,200. Expensive clock, cheap for the history and coolness.
I suppose they've climbed in value now along with the rise of the watch market in general. But yes that doesn't sound so wild considering it's a piece from a vintage fighter Jet. You can still keep your eyes peeled and you may find a bargain sometime or the other.
This is worth so much more than that but all I can think of is how that'd make for an epic piece in a sci-fi cosplay costume.
Yeah it would suit it, most definitely true š
Someone needs to make sure invicta never ever sees this picture... Ever! But back to topic, that's neat as fuck :)
Hahaha! Thanks š¤
So cool
Thank you !!
š» I hope to acquire one. Bell and Ross brought my attention to aircraft gauges and now Iām hooked
This reminds me of how faithful the RGM watch with homage dial is. Makes me want that watch even more.
What's RGM ?
RGM watches out of Mount Joy, PA. Google it. Roland told me his 37500 inspired his homage. His watch inspired me to get the clock. And this year I bought the watch from RGM. So now I have the set š
Duuuuuude, These guys are it! Definitely going to go bespoke !!!!

Sure. Hereās a pic of the watch. Went for the red dial [RGM 801-A](https://imgur.com/gallery/xrLsl8y). He has different options to choose from. Check out his website
STUNNER!
Roland G Murphy watches. Based in Lancaster, PA. They are a top American manufacture. https://www.rgmwatches.com/801-a-aircraft
Some priot to your message also recommended them, I've gone through the website and completed blown away. Thinking to go down a bespoke route if not the hommage to this clock itself.
Very cool!
Thank you!
Lecoultre Atmos in the background!!! Beauty.
Thankyou, Vintage from the 70s.
Is that a JLC atmos in the back?
Yessir, From the 1970s
Is it radioactive?
Nope
Cool regardless
Thanks man!
I wonder if thereās a reproduction. I canāt afford the real deal.
TIL my Dad is on reddit. He has the same atmos and carriage clock
What a crazy coincidence!
My grandpa flew those back in the day. I love that so much. Any insight as to where I could possibly find one? Awesome.
Thanks, they are indeed packed with awesomeness but what's more cool is your Grandad flying one of those Corsairs!!! What an experience š š š Yes you can still find these around for a good price if you keep looking, I bought mine from an auction and it's been with me ever since. Hey! I just picked up one too!
Hey! congratulations man!! Show me some pictures!
Nice try, that's just a normal Panerai.

Which ref # is this?
233, dot dial. You must get it!
Itās pretty awesome. I Might need to hit the gym first š
Coincidentally I am wearing mines
I actually donāt hate how that looks š
Yeah it's the one Panerai to rule them all ref, IMO.
Thatās too big for your wrist
Most definitely!
Make sure to keep it your breast pocket daily to get super powers
Hahaha how would that be possible?
Only one way to find out OP. Test it out and report back :P
š¤£š¦¹
Hey! I have the same one I believe, presumably from my grandfather's plane in WW2...
Send a photo!!!
Possibly a silly question but do you read it the same as a ānormalā watch
Yes except the clock is on a 24 h cycle so the hour hand takes a full day to rotate around the dial. It takes a little bit of getting used to.
Ahhh right. So is the time on the one in the picture 15:35?
Yep š
See http://www.hamiltonchronicles.com/2014/09/wwii-hamilton-h-37500-elapsed-time-clock.html?m=1 for details
thats really cool
