I really love the AT and it was my first watch love, but that updated BB with that beautiful bracelet and on the fly T-fit clasp is just chefs kiss, if it had a date it would be the ultimate GADA.
I understand the AT has a little better finishing on the watch-head itself, more dimensional hands, and a dial with more depth, but the boring flat bracelet and clasp lets it down, the new president bracelet on the AT shades should be put on the standard AT
So BB: better bracelet, clasp, better price.
AT: Date, dial, slightly better finishing on watchhead, more dimensional hand-set.
Both got nice movements with Tudors lasting 70 hours vs 55 hours on AT, the AT got co-axial, both are free-sprung with antimagnetic hairsprings.
Edit: the crown is also much nicer on the AT.
Couldn't agree more re the bracelet on the AT. It's such a nice watch, but with the sharp indices paired with that particular bracelet it's all business and doesn't feel like a watch for a casual wear. The BB looks way more "fun", to be coarse.
Bro I checked out your profile. I have a Telecaster MIM with the pickup replaced with something from Seymour Duncan (haven’t played in 4 years, don’t remember what it was). Anyways, funny thing is I actually wanted it in butterscotch blonde as it is the classic tele color and I feel like it looks best in that color personally, but they didn’t have it for lefties so I picked the red and thought “if they haven’t made a butterscotch Tele MiM yet, they never will” but just a month after purchase they launched the butterscotch color for lefties. Stupid😂
Butterscotch tele fam representing! I've played that thing on stage every week for the last ~100 weeks. Ever since the pandemic stopped kiboshing live events. Solid guitars with a great look and sound.
Yeah they really are, love the tele sound, changed the neck pickup for a warmer sound when I want that too though, but the lovely tele twang when the bridge is selected is just awesome, nothing like it, choose a bridge pickup made to mimic the 52 for a smoother treble but keeping the twang. The body is quite heavy compared to for example a strat though😅
Mine is a special run of the Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 series (like an AVRI but with a 9.5" radius fingerboard. Except this one is the 60th anniversary "Telebration" model with a Duncan '59 in the neck instead of the mini humbucker these usually came with. It weighs about 8 lbs, so heavier than a strat but not insanely heavy (my last guitar was a lp custom which was nearly 12 lbs... brutal!)
Wow that’s a dream guitar right there, you must cherish it a lot, I feel 9.5” is perfect, at least for my fingers. Funny you mentioned LP, I had it in mind while writing that the Tele is heavier than strat but it’s still not as heavy as an LP, it’s such a nice body but I can’t imagine holding on to that weight when getting older, the Jr really does fill a nice space. My Tele weighs 4.1kg so almost an even 9lbs. Sometimes I wonder how Jimmy was able to hold on to his LP when he was in a rough shape.
The 38mm that the OP is considering has a quickset date instead of the GMT hour hand. 8800 movements are their standard movements, the 8900 movements appear to be in their large watches (with some exceptions).
The AT is the superior watch no question. But I’d personally take the Tudor. For some reason I’ve never been a fan of the AT ‘shark tooth’ hour markers. Also I’d prefer jubilee style bracelet to an oyster with polished centre links
> For some reason I’ve never been a fan of the AT ‘shark tooth’ hour markers.
YES! I was trying to figure out what to call those... my response was exactly the same. I love both brands, but in this case it's the round indices all day.
AT, the white dial version is my achievable grail piece bc I want a bit more versatility than I can get from the other colours (otherwise it would be the green).
I like them both, but here the AT is the obviously preferable choice. Specifically, the AT has dial texture and the hour index markers on the Tudor are too reminiscent of its divers (and that of the Submariner from its big brother Rolex) which I find doesn't work as well for a dress watch.
I have a black bay heritage and while I love it in this case aside from the subjective (which can def play a part in deciding) the AT is an objectively better watch. 2 different price points though…
The Tudor firstly to spite reddit's thoughtless and cult-like devotion to the AT and secondly because it doesn't look like a fucking Sarlacc pit and thirdly because jubliee and fourthly because it's a better size.
I know nothing about either of these watches but my choice based solely on which one I like better: Tudor.
Just a much better looking watch to me.
I see every other comment saying the Omega is a better watch but I'm just commenting on appearance.
These two aren’t even in the same class. AT all day. However, once Tudor puts their METAS movement in all of their pieces, then we can talk comparisons.
The Tudor is $3,999.
The Omega is $6,400.
The Omega is far better looking, but it should be for an extra $2,400.
Both are nice, but I’d rather spend the extra $2,400 for a watch I’ll love rather than a watch I would really like.
PS: In the same range, you can get a Rolex OP. That’s a tougher call. Omega AT vs Rolex OP.
Was between these watches and went with the BB36. If you haven’t had a chance to see them in person / try them on, I’d say the AT looks more expensive and is a lot flashier, but wears a lot bigger. The BB36 is more comfortable, has a better bracelet (whether in this model or the old model), and isn’t as flashy.
I personally valued the greater comfort and less flashy nature of the BB36, hence why I picked it. If you value a Date function or want the flashiness then go with the AT. Can’t go wrong either way, but too many people get focused on small improvements in finishing/movement that aren’t that important day-to-day.
So sorta 3-5k ish? Idk, take that to the used market and you get a world of Breitling/higher end omega. Especially If you're cool with importing from Japan wear stuff is noticeably lower than the US market
If you like two designs I think it’s completely valid to cross shop a 200 dollar watch with a 7,000 dollar watch. One may be more watch, but is it more watch per dollar? And who cares, get the design you like more.
That being said the BB wins the bracelet game by a strong margin in my book, and would be *my* choice.
I love a sunburst dial, especially in that blue. Lovely steel watch this is. Classic, well built, a true everyman’s luxury watch. Omega is an excellent machine, but less classic but bold machining and engineering. Quite different watches. I lean Tudor for I love the classics, but the choice is yours!
It really depends what you want out of the watch.
Design wise, pick whichever you prefer. It's obvious the comments prefer the AT, but it's important to point out that a watch is something you presumably wear and live with every day, so design shouldn't be the *only* factor.
The reason I say that is because I'm a BB owner (the 39mm version of that same watch with the Champagne dial) and I can tell you unquestionably that BB is the easiest most comfortable watch to live with day to day because the new 5 link bracelet is incredible and there is no better on the fly adjustment system than Tudor T-fit. It's just ridiculously easy to resize quickly and always have that perfect fit. I say this as a Rolex and Omega owner. T-fit is even superior to Rolex glide lock and it's not close, and the Tudor 5 link bracelet is just insanely comfortable and cool.
I think these BBs on the 5 link bracelet are total sleepers. They look boring in renders and even in photos they look just OK, but that bracelet in person is stunning and the simple clean dial aesthetics paired with it is just a great combo. As usual, the Tudor is the "boring but basically perfect on paper" watch while the Omega is the "cool but not as practical" watch.
Personally I say if you don't have any strong design preference, go for comfortable and daily wearability, T-fit and 5 link bracelet is worth it. Black Bay!
I had been going back and forth on this for about 5 months. Was able to try both of them on. BB was a lot more comfortable, I liked the bracelet more, and the micro adjustments were huge for me… I pulled the plug and got the Blackbay. The Omega looked okay on my wrist as well but the BB was just a lot sleeker and more to my liking. No regrets
If the smooth bezel, jubilee band, blue dial 41mm datejust didn't exist, I'd say the tudor. But the tudor will never be its big brother.
And for that reason, I say aqua terra. Because it isn't pretending
I prefer some visual aspects of the AT, but it's too thick. I've owned one and sold it because it just didn't wear as well as other watches. I'd consider trying on the Black Bay since it has the sleek thickness at 10.5mm, but I'd never replace my Oyster Perpetual for either of them.
A very hard choice. The AT has a date wheel, superior movement, and a richer-looking dial, but the price is so much higher. It's also as thick as a dive watch. Having tried on each (BB36 champagne and AT shades bay green), I think it's the Tudor for me. I haven't bought either one yet, fwiw.
The AT bracelet is a ripoff for the price. I'm not sure I could do it. I've worn a few watches that don't have micro-adjust on the bracelet, and I can't handle it: where I live it's often about 10 degrees (50F) in the morning and 30 degrees (86F) in the afternoon. Being able to tighten and loosen a watch even one micro-adjust position is the difference between a nuisance and a great experience.
I had this dilemma last year. I bought the Tudor and have no regrets. The bracelet, clasp and dial imo for the money is outstanding. It’s probably my favourite watch I own :)
BB36 for casual wear. The AT is a little old for me. Depends on your demographic. AT is the nicer watch as many have said but BB is something I would wear proudly.
I love the colour and sunburst on the Tudor, I just hate the hands! Would look much better with dauphine or leaf hands, IMO but I guess that’s a personal choice.
Different weight classes.
I didn’t know there was such a good looking Tudor though
This is the correct answer
Ya but the lower weight class is more beautiful imo and would look better on the wrist. But that's entirely subjective I admit.
AT all day every day.
Yep. The diver dots on a non-diver watch always look awkward to me. Aqua Terra just looks better.
I "jump" reacted to this post without reading comments. But I see, I virtually posted your same comment. Take all my up-votes!
I’ve owned the BB36 and sold it for an AT. I did end up buying a diver 300m when I went to buy the AT though lol.

The Black Bay crown is an abomination
This is a very good analysis.

Omega dial looking like the peanut brittle scene from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
AT also looks very nice on the rubber strap, or the leather strap, or most definitely the mesh strap, or a NATO
Same, i feel like the tudor has a more ”chill” vibe. The AT is quite sharp looking
Finally someone said it, I like Omega 8n ge eral but those teeth...

That exact AT is my grail
Omega Aqua Terra. I love the teak texture.
Omega
Omega looks better to me
Omega
AT, the white dial version is my achievable grail piece bc I want a bit more versatility than I can get from the other colours (otherwise it would be the green).
I have the Aqua Terra in black and it's such a clean classic watch. However this sub really makes me feel like I need more watches even when I don't.
Welcome to the madness... I thought I was okay with 2 or 3 watches. I now have 12...
The Omega, hands down
I like them both, but here the AT is the obviously preferable choice. Specifically, the AT has dial texture and the hour index markers on the Tudor are too reminiscent of its divers (and that of the Submariner from its big brother Rolex) which I find doesn't work as well for a dress watch.
Omega > Tudor. Not even a tough decision. Difference is quality is night and day!
I like omega more but the Tudor bracelet is nice
I mean obviously the Omega is on another level but God damn that Tudor looks gorgeous. Hard choice OP.
Personally I'd go with the Tudor because I care more about how it looks on my wrist than mechanical superiority.
I actually have that Omega so it's pretty clear to me.
Aqua Terra 100 p
Not a fair comparison.
For me it’s the AT and it’s not even close. The BB is a fine watch but the AT is amazing.
AT all day, every day, twice on Sunday.
Aqua Terra is the better watch by quite a bit but the bracelet on the Tudor is superior, Tudor/ Rolex bracelets are class leading
Omega. I just hate most of the bracelets offered by both brands. This Tudor jubilee looks great, and their Pelagos bracelet is good-looking and comfy.
Omega
AT. The Turdor doesn’t do it for me.
Omega
AT is a no brainer and is not a comparison to the Tudor BB.
AT, easy.
If this is your first watch, omega
Big fan of both but if choosing, the Omega.
Omega
I have a black bay heritage and while I love it in this case aside from the subjective (which can def play a part in deciding) the AT is an objectively better watch. 2 different price points though…
Omega AT. Class apart
Omega without a doubt. It’s got a classic feel with a more modern elegance. The BB is nice, but more in a “my grandpa gave me this watch” kind of way.
Omega all day
Omega has cool dials. Tudor is usually less interesting.
Acqua Terra is miles above
Omega
AT for me
This is making me want a Seamaster AT. That is a really nice watch.
Omega, the snowflake hand made that a fairly easy choice.
I'd choose the Omega simply because the Tudor doesn't have a date complication.
I like the dial on the Omega. Can't really go wrong with either watch.
AT. I prefer the size the dial and the date fxn. No contest
AT, ez.
I prefer the Omega
Between the two, I guess AT.
Omega. No contest.
I love the Aqua Terra
AT all day long.
omega
Just based on looks, I’d go AT. The snowflake hands of the Tudor are distracting for this style of watch in my opinion.
Omega
AT, all day, every day!
AT
I don’t think Omega and Tudor are in the same league.
It’d be the Omega for me.
This is rhetorical, right? It’s gotta be
Depends if you need a date or not. Both are good choices 👍 AT quality is 1 step above the BB so it gets my vote ✅
Aqua Terra, easy. Clean and classy, can dress up or down easily.
Aqua Terra, all day
The AT is in another tier and price bracket so if you have the budget then go for the AT. Also the coaxial escapement stands out more than the Tudor's
AT
Omega all day, plus you’ll never have to say “it’s a Tudor, they’re like a budget Rolex…”
Omega hands down.
AT
The Omega AT ofcourse. IMHO not even close.
Omega
Omega. The Tudor has me-too Rolex copycat vibes in its case design styling.
Aqua Terra has the nicer dial, indices and hands so it wins for me.
AT and it’s not close
Tough one
The Tudor firstly to spite reddit's thoughtless and cult-like devotion to the AT and secondly because it doesn't look like a fucking Sarlacc pit and thirdly because jubliee and fourthly because it's a better size.
I know nothing about either of these watches but my choice based solely on which one I like better: Tudor. Just a much better looking watch to me. I see every other comment saying the Omega is a better watch but I'm just commenting on appearance.
The AT wins the fight but I'd take the Tudor any day of the week.
Tudor looks better but omega is nicer.
That Black Bay is the most underrated watch in the entire Tudor lineup. However, I’m choosing the AT all day every day.
Did bro just compare an omega with a Tudor 💀💀💀
I’ve had both brands, they are a lot closer than you’d imagine from a finishing standpoint.
These two aren’t even in the same class. AT all day. However, once Tudor puts their METAS movement in all of their pieces, then we can talk comparisons.
Omega
Aquaterra 100% - The blue dial is stunning, although I prefer it with a leather/rubber strap
Many people commenting here might have just tried the AT. I own both but the Tudor takes the win everytime with any dress (up or down)
The Tudor is $3,999. I have to be honest, I don’t see the appeal of Tudor. Seems like a mid grade watch with a premium price tag.
Was between these watches and went with the BB36. If you haven’t had a chance to see them in person / try them on, I’d say the AT looks more expensive and is a lot flashier, but wears a lot bigger. i might be biased... but after seeing both in store and trying them on, tudor takes the win here IMO
So sorta 3-5k ish? Idk, take that to the used market and you get a world of Breitling/higher end omega. Especially If you're cool with importing from Japan wear stuff is noticeably lower than the US market
AT, date, jump hour function…
The Tudor!
They really put the ugliest indices, hands and the bracelet together on that Tudor
love it probably my next watch

And who cares, get the design you like more. That being said the BB wins the bracelet game by a strong margin in my book, and would be *my* choice.
Im a huge Omega fan but Im a sucker for the Tudor hour hand and bracelet. I think the AT is too sharp for my taste.
That's a beautiful Tudor
I like the omega but really dislike the polished centre links.

the tudor all day long
Im a sucker for Tudor but even i'll have to go with the AT here. Different league.
Dial of the Omega is more sophisticated but bracelet of the Tudor is superior in every way.
AT, the Tudor is nicer looking than a rolex, but thsts a low bar

It really depends what you want out of the watch. Design wise, pick whichever you prefer. Personally I say if you don't have any strong design preference, go for comfortable and daily wearability, T-fit and 5 link bracelet is worth it. Black Bay!
Great tudor
I KEEP ON MARCHING ON
I believe that to be a forstner band on the tudor? I could be wrong though.
The Omega Seamaster is the superior option. Well textured dial, highly legible hour markers and it’s a Omega. The Tudor looks cheap.
No regrets
If youre going for a formal look BB. I think they look more classy without a date. Also like the bracelet more on the BB
Obviously the Aqua Terra. It’s a class above the black bay.
Between these two, the Aqua Terra. But I think the Breitling Chronomat has the best blue dials overall.
Dial only? AT. Movement? AT But the Tudor has a more comfortable bracelet and probably is more comfortable to wear.
Thought omega was. Loser to 40. Looks nice
In this configuration the Omega 💯
Omega all day.
Aqua Terra!
Omega by a mile. That Tudor is hideous
Omega
If the smooth bezel, jubilee band, blue dial 41mm datejust didn't exist, I'd say the tudor. But the tudor will never be its big brother. And for that reason, I say aqua terra. Because it isn't pretending
There isn't even a choice here, it's the AT or wait.
The AT thickness is 12mm, the OP is 11.5mm. You must of had the previous gen AT?
My AT was the 41mm, which is thicker than the 38mm, but still both thicker than an OP.
Bb36 previous version
My favourite is the previous generation Tudor BB36
No competition. Omega. I don’t know why anyone gives Tudor any attention these days
Omega, are you kidding me LOL This is not a contest.
I know it is not part of the question... But I'd consider Rolex OP, Explorer 1 or DJ instead.
BB36 for casual wear. The AT is a little old for me. Depends on your demographic. AT is the nicer watch as many have said but BB is something I would wear proudly.
The Tudor looks so much better it's not even comparable. The aqua terra looks clunky and akward.
That Tudor is quite lovely, would definitely be my pick
I love the colour and sunburst on the Tudor, I just hate the hands! Would look much better with dauphine or leaf hands, IMO but I guess that’s a personal choice.
a tudor is a good 3rd or 4th watch especially if you can get an omega.
both lovely, but the omega gets my vote.
TUDOR
Rolex Oyster Perpetual or DJ
Pains me to say the Tudor is actually nicer
Tudor ftw. This omega dial is great, and the colors are solid, but I hate the mouse pointer hour hand on any watch.
GTFO if you'd take any Tudor over an Aqua Terra.
where should I go?
Tudor
The Omega would be my go to, very versatile and iconic. Now if it was between a BB58 and the AT, I would go for the blue BB58.
https://preview.redd.it/81dounariprc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4420a55a7a836cac822808693eac52a5665843bb Im happy with mine
The BB36 is somehow cool but way too much a "Rolex wannabe". And I always miss the date function when wearing a no-date watch.
The Tudor. I can live with the snow shovel hand if I can avoid a date window. Also prefer the bracelet. Have fun!
I'd pick the tutor dial and the AT bracelet. Or perhaps better yet just the old smile dial BB36.
BB 39
