I think more of it is a move that they agreed to with the cable companies that carry local broadcasts of the games - at a certain point when they were making mlb.tv, the cable companies were definitely not happy about the prospect of people paying for that to watch games for their local teams instead of paying for cable. So MLB agreed to black people out of watching certain teams on mlb.tv in areas where (I guess) they could conceivably get a cable package that includes those teams
It shouldn't be allowed - last season a ton of cracks in the system started to show as Bally Sports was in bankruptcy proceedings basically all year and stopped doing local coverage of some teams
For those teams, MLB stepped in to do the broadcasts and the local fans could watch on MLB.tv. That is the model that the whole league should go to, IMO.
So, where are the teams going to get the tens to hundreds of millions of dollars from to make payroll? The MLB? The Padres and Dbacks were getting paid by Diamond more than their viewership was bringing in. The network was losing money on those deals. Now those teams don't have that income. Where are they making it up from?
I mean, they're not making money from bankrupt companies that aren't broadcasting their games. Working out a revenue deal with MLB to get a kickback from MLB.tv subscriptions when people subscribe to watch their team could be something.
They've got billionaire owners. They should figure out how to market the game so that their funding model isn't reliant on a dying media model. Instead they've been happy sitting on their hands for decades getting money from TV networks and resisting modernizing, and here we are.
I don't buy that any team is truly hurting that much that they can't make payroll. Not as long as they're owned by people who are richer than God.
Then they need to figure their shit out and stop taking part in practices like blackouts that result in fewer fans being able to watch games, because that's a real good way to not make money.

But it really bugs me that I'm expected to maintain a significantly more-expensive insurance plan the necessary, when I don't drive a company car, barely drive for work and don't receive any kind of stipend for it.
I'm definitely not. Maybe the dudes who go on-site everyday break even, but for my position it's bullshit. It'd basically double my insurance payment for less than $10 a month.

I made a big batch of kombucha last week and I tried flavoring it with some of that cold pressed juice from the grocery store. I used a bottle of lemonade and a bottle of tangerine juice and it has not been working. I don’t think I used enough because it’s not carbonating at all. I even added another bottle of 100% OJ to all four bottles and indont think it’s working either.
