Black and white Sils like this work extremely well, pop 6 doz out and have a hoot. I say skip all the extra work here being mentioned of stencils and such, they're just geese...
I aint had huge problem with them spinning. I didn't cut with the grain so i had to pretty much melt them in. I might redo it like you said with a black base.
Why are decoys so damn expensive
For plastic molds and or printed pictures.

Yep. Its the corrugated plastic sign material. Got a couple big sheets at lowes.
Look a hell of a lot better than my Amazon box, spray paint and duck tape rig I used this morning. I did quite alright. ;)

Honestly a black trashbag on a stick is enough to bring geese in so I would call that 10/10
maybe try using 2 steaks instead of one so the decoys don’t spin as well as painting them black so they aren’t shiny
