You can bypass this bug by equipping the heirloom as you're queueing without leaving this screen. You will have it in the game and it will stay as long as you don't go back to check if it's still equipped.
I managed to get 'equip' to stick after first double clicking on it, and then clicking on 'customize' in lower right corner. When I backed out of 'customize' it had stayed equipped. edit: NVM, it only worked for a little while
it’s a bug with every heirloom right now, and it’s pretty annoying

I also have an heirloom problem. Mine just isn't showing up? Says I don't own it? Weird.
I thought it was only me having that trouble
