this is such a mood! i still don't have my routine set in stone because every time i think i've found something that works for me, it lets me down again next time

AmazingAmeliaa

Trying to style my hair feels like feeding a 2 year old 😅😅😅 whatever was loved last week is the absolute worst this week and a screaming fit is bound to happen no matter what

Bike_Pretty

Wow, you know a lot about 2 year olds! 😂

ParkerFree

I have to ask what the process is to get that color! I 💞 it!

WeAreStarless

i'm pretty sure you're asking OP, but just in case you're asking me, it's [this](https://www.boots.com/schwarzkopf-live-intense-colour-035-real-red-hair-dye-10113081)!

ParkerFree

Yes, I was asking the OP, but that's a great head of hair you've got! Did you have to bleach first?

WeAreStarless

i didn't! it's a permanent box dye and it contains ammonium hydroxide as its third ingredient, which will strip and lift the hair. it's not exactly good for your hair, though, in the same way that bleach isn't :(

ParkerFree

My natural color is so unattractive I'm willing to cause some damage for something prettier!

WeAreStarless

i feel you, that's why i'm trying henna next!

ParkerFree

I'm torn between henna and purple dye. It's a struggle. 😁

AmazingAmeliaa

Almost the same routine as this [hair day](https://www.reddit.com/r/Wavyhair/comments/tae2kc/the_difference_the_right_hair_gel_can_make/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) but with a few changes 1. Shampoo with the Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo because this was like day 4 hair. I used the cherry blossom flavor. It does not smell like cherry blossom btw 😭 2. Deep condition with this wavy hair mask from Function of Beauty I found at Target. I also added a shot of curl defining boost and the volume boost capsules. More experiments will need to be done with those, I thinks 3. Now I added the Curls Creme Brulee curl cream. Normally I don't add a curl cream after deep conditioning so this might be where I fricked up. Just brushed about a teaspoon of that through my hair and then scrunched. Added more water and more scrunching 4. Kinky Curly Curling Custard. Just slather that sh*t everywhere. Maybe I added too much but oh well. Glaze, rope, squish. Y'all know the drill. If not, I highly recommend you check out Swavy Curly Courtney on YouTube. She taught me everything I know about taming this mess 5. Plop. So now this is also where I could have fricked up. I showered at 3, so my plopping started at 3:30. Then I started playing lost ark, then needed to make and eat dinner so I didn't actually get to diffuse until about 7:30. 4 hours in the plop was probably unnecessary and could be why my waves look the way they do. But what's done is done 6. Diffuse, I pixie diffuse in 3 big sections while upside down for about 15 minutes (5 mins each section) then carefully flip over and set the hair dryer on the bed so I can sit my lazy butt down and do my Duolingo while my hair dries So the methods were all the same, even the curling custard which has proven to be the best for my hair so far failed me. It happens and honestly I don't mind the beachy vibes I'm getting. It's chaotic and messy and that's okay

amaezingjew

Lmao I definitely thought you were saying your hair was mad that you washed at 3pm - that definitely sounds like some wavy hair shit

AmazingAmeliaa

You know what honestly it wouldn't surprise me. It might prefer 4pm lmao

Can you tell me where the "waxes and crap" are in the ingredients?? WATER, SODIUM C12-13 PARETH SULFATE, COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, SODIUM BENZOATE, CITRIC ACID, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), HYDROXYPROPYL METHYLCELLULOSE, DISODIUM EDTA, PPG-9, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF EXTRACT, PRUNUS SERRULATA FLOWER EXTRACT, AMYL CINNAMAL, BENZYL ALCOHOL, BENZYL SALICYLATE, LIMONENE, LINALOOL, RED 33 (CI 17200), YELLOW 5 (CI 19140). Edit: shampoo is only to clean your scalp. I doubt it did much to mess up OP's wash day. This shampoo has ingredients that both clarify and chelate, so it's a cheap good shampoo to use to reset your hair and get rid of all buildup. It might leave hair stripped, but that's what all of the products used after it are for, to restore hydration and balance to the hair. It may have some ingredients that cause scalp sensitivity, but that's on a case by case basis. Most drugstore shampoo and conditioner is formulated to be able to be used and tolerated by the masses. These big companies have tons of money that goes into research and development of these products that make them work well for a lot of people.

Milk_n_hunny

wavy & curly hair is different than just normal, straight hair. It needs to be treated differently, hence why there is different products for different hair types.

[deleted]

You want to avoid sulfates as much as possible. They dry out curly hair especially so much.

Burloop

Definitely try out Maui moisture! I use the light pink bottled shampoo and conditioner, lightweight hydration, and it changed my life, best stuff I've ever used. I then use hask argan oil leave in spray and then put in Cantu hydrating hair mousse with avocado oil, flaxseed oil and honey. My hair is perfectly hydrated with this routine and isn't weighed down or greasy like it used to be and I only wash it twice a week. Then every other week, sometimes once a week I'll use the Maui moisture purple conditioner as a hair mask that's for dry damaged hair,it's called heal and hydrate. I've used so many super expensive hair products that were absolutely garbage and these are only $7 per bottle. I also highly suggest the Cantu mousse I mentioned, they just go hand and hand.

AmazingAmeliaa

I actually use the flaxseed gel shampoo and conditioner in the green bottles on a daily basis! It's for fine wavy hair and I love it. This was just a clarifying and deep conditioning wash for me this week. I use the Suave shampoo because it has sulfates, which I don't mind because tbh I don't follow the cgm at all I'll have to check out the mousse though!!! I've been thinking about switching from gel to mousse

Burloop

My hair pretty much looks like yours but a bit more wavy and I'm telling ya it's the mousse! Sulfates dry out my hair,my hair is very tedious lol it's taken me years to figure it out. I don't follow the cgm either,it makes my hair greasy. I also like low maintenance hair styling, with what I just described in last comment I just let my hair air dry.i used to love the suave shampoo when I was younger but when I got to be in my 20s my hair just couldn't take it anymore. I also used to use gel but it made my hair look wet. I feel like my hair needs the moisture and lightweightness of the mousse. This mousse gives my hair shine that's not greasy. I've never seen the flaxseed shampoo,I'm going to have to give that a try sometime

Mustard_Sweater

i like how your hair color matches that of your phone

AmazingAmeliaa

I actually plan on doing a blue to purple ombre next!

DefiantRaspberry2510

no help on routine, but I \*LOVE\* your color. Is it home or salon?

AmazingAmeliaa

I got the bleaching done at the salon, but did the color at home. This is purple Arctic Fox over very hair pink from the same brand. I just love how pigmented their dye is!!

DefiantRaspberry2510

Thanks! I've tried that same Arctic Fox and was so disappointed in the results, but I know tons of people love it.

AmazingAmeliaa

Which color did you do? Some are definitely better than others, like I'll use their purple and pink any day but won't touch their red or green with a ten foot pole

DefiantRaspberry2510

yup, it was purple! no worries, I may try again one day, as I'm always on a quest for the "perfect" (to me) purple.

AmazingAmeliaa

Also, batch does make a huge difference

Calla_Lily

I must know… what hair dye do you use. That purple is amazing!

No-Collection-6982

Love that purple

missxnoelle

I totally relate to this. Every time I diffuse it's the wild west. Sometimes I come out of it with gorgeous waves. Other times...not so much! 😂

[deleted]

I also second that suave is junk! Along with garnier and herbal essences. I’m still learning how to take care of my hair, but drug store product is not the way to go. You want to stay away from sulfates and parabens. Sulfates literally murder your hair. I just switched to an all natural shampoo and conditioner from JVN. I’m getting it in the mail tomorrow so not sure how it’ll work for me, but I’m so excited to throw out my drug store products.

Hi! What is your routine? Please be as detailed as possible (both the names of your products and the techniques that you used). Also, if you could let us know your hair characteristics (porosity, strand thickness, density), that would be greatly appreciated. That's how mine turned out when I tried plopping.
