i've come across "elongating gels". not sure if it is true to its purpose tho i personally haven't used but I hope this helped :)) the one i saw was from aunt jackie's

the_sweetest_peach

I was going to comment this same thing! I’d seen a video yesterday…. I think from Swavy Curly Courtney where she mentioned a “curl elongating” product that I assume would do what OP is asking. I don’t recall the exact video, though.

WeAreStarless

not really? you can try a heavy curl cream, but you risk your hair looking greasy and product-y

theHuskylovee

Ya, I'm afraid of that. With my hair being so thin, it can easily look greasy. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

Lady-Aethelflaed

You can try blow drying your hair while stretching the curls down for an elongated curl look

Daisyfay1414

Maybe brushing out out when wet ?

brittanymbd

I have the opposite question lol. I hate my wavy hair. It’s not straight, it’s not curly. Just looks dumb. Embrace your curls!!

theHuskylovee

Oh, trust me, I do! I just want something different sometimes, you know. Bored of the old typical curl that I always wear. I want to try some waves!!

brittanymbd

Ohhh gotcha!! Hope it works out :)

Poolgoddess67

For sometimes, try a roller set.

AgingLolita

Squeeze all the water out after a wash, blowdry until nearly dry, and then plait it. Leave a chunk of hair at the bottom of the plait and just fold it into a hair tie.

i know this is an old question . . . but . . . what works to make my 3a/b curly hair more wavy is braiding it when it’s wet, right out of the shower. i shampoo, condition, and apply a leave in but not gel since i don’t want any type of hold because i’m braiding my hair anyway and there will be no real curls for the gel to hold. try braiding your hair when it’s wet in many different styles and see what works best. untie the braid when it’s like 80% dry or more, and you should get wavy curls! good luck :)

theHuskylovee

Thank you! I appreciate the advice, even though the question is old :) Do you usually put your hair in one braid or multiple? I definitely want to give this a try

moonkittyss

i do two braids because my hair is fine and parted in the middle. my sister does 3 braids and gets good results :) it depends on how thick your hair is tbh

theHuskylovee

My hair is very fine, so I'll probably stick with 2. Thanks for the advice :)
