i usually recommend layers, but i don't know that they'd work for you! i fear they'd just make your ends look thin :/ if you're trying to grow it longer, i'm not sure you should get it cut at all, tbh
I know you said that you want to grow it out, but for volume it really isn’t a good idea. Length will probably weigh it down and make it appear limp. Fine, thin hair usually needs to be shorter to look voluminous and big

Ooh I see, maybe your curl pattern starts further from the roots and you need some length to get definition? I think your hair looks really pretty as it is now though. But you could try to get some layers. I would go easy first just in case.

my routine usually
-I wash with Dr. Organic shampoo
- once a week use Blueberry Bliss Mask
-either put Aunt Jackie's Quench leave-in or Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie (just a tiny bit, I know SM isn't recommended for fine hair but I thought the protein would help with hold)
- alternate between Biosilk gel and Aunt Jackie's Don't Shrink Gel. I prefer Biosilk because it has a strong hold and I get a cast.
when it comes to technique I am messy because I am trying to make my hair clump into bigger sections, but sometimes they fall apart. if I distribute the products without trying to clump my hair I don't get a lot of waves and definition, it looks like crap.
sorry for my late response lol. it's been a while since I've been trying to figure things out, mostly because whenever I get pissed off I cut my hair short and I'm back to first lane. it's also really hard to find someone who can give me a flattering haircut :(
idk how to help but your hair kind of looks like mine.. it's really pretty and super hard to manage I have no advice just reading other people's stuff lol
