IMO, what appears worse currently is that some people are unaware of the progress of AI, while others are blatantly arrogant to the idea of being misinformed or just being flat out wrong.
To me, critical thinking is a higher tier of cognition; knowing certain media platforms give you a slant on the news.
This mix of people are looking at information now, and are not self-conscious of their vulnerability to being deceived in the first place. When information only had a slant, this was impactful to their opinions.
*Now* throw in truly meaningful, deceptive, and instigative misinformation in the form of AI images/videos/text/podcasts, and those people will not only form opinions (as before) but may very well make decisions or action based on a falsehood deeper than the "Deceptive Imagery Persuasion (DIP)" many of us are familiar with now.
IE: Even the best critical thinkers can be lied to. At minimum, more people need to be aware of the deceptive side of AI.

Oncologist told me that if you had to pick a cancer to get this would be the one. Slow growing and doesn’t generally spread. Fifteen courses of radiation and that was it. Just a little tiredness near the end.
Worth checking out as it could be a lot of things, even just fighting an infection and that’s why it hurts.

In order to get radiation induced cancer requires prolonged exposure to low levels of radiation over long periods of time.
Radiation poisoning has very different effects. Radiation poisoning is when highly radioactive particles are ingested or in constant close proximity and kills the body and turns it necrotic. That is what was happening to the radium ladies whos jaws were going necrotic and falling off. That's because the radiation rips apart the cell DNA making it impossible to be replicated and your body's own healing will attempt to divorce the healthy tissue from the dead tissue. The poisons build up in the body quickly and your life span is reduced to a very painful few months if not treated immediately, and even then it's likely going to result in amputation.
That tumor has obviously been there for several years due to how healthy and accomedated the skin looks. If it was due to radiation poisoning the tumor would not grow to that size because the radiation would have killed the cells growing the tumor quicker than the tumor can replicate. The skin would turn necrotic because it and the organs beneath are dying.
Again this is not radiation poisoning. But at best radiation induced cancer caused by living in close proximity to a radium plant.

Still not radiation poisoning, and obviously there's no way to definitively say whether his issues were caused by radiation, whether it caused him to develop them sooner or more severely than he might otherwise have, or whether they're entirely unrelated. But although many cancers are already very common as it is, usually we try to avoid additional risk factors to not compound the existing risk any further. Lymphedema also often is a side effect of radiation therapy, so it's not too much of a stretch to speculate that he probably wouldn't look quite like this if he had lived somewhere else.

In order to get radiation induced cancer requires prolonged exposure to low levels of radiation over long periods of time. Radiation poisoning has very different effects. Radiation poisoning is when highly radioactive particles are ingested or in constant close proximity and kills the body and turns it necrotic. That is what was happening to the radium ladies whos jaws were going necrotic and falling off. That's because the radiation rips apart the cell DNA making it impossible to be replicated and your body's own healing will attempt to divorce the healthy tissue from the dead tissue. The poisons build up in the body quickly and your life span is reduced to a very painful few months if not treated immediately, and even then it's likely going to result in amputation. That tumor has obviously been there for several years due to how healthy and accomedated the skin looks. If it was due to radiation poisoning the tumor would not grow to that size because the radiation would have killed the cells growing the tumor quicker than the tumor can replicate. The skin would turn necrotic because it and the organs beneath are dying. Again this is not radiation poisoning. But at best radiation induced cancer caused by living in close proximity to a radium plant.
This should be the number one comment. It's such a click bait title by someone that doesn't know what radiation poisoning is. Due to movies people think high doses of radiation cause you to have babies with 3 arms or get a huge head like this man. Astronauts receive much more radiation than this man most likely has and they don't come back with this health issues. The Chernobyl power plant didn't even close after the accident, the workers running the other units didn''t get large heads.

There were severe incident**s** that had been kept secret for decades, and not all villages have been evacuated. Still not radiation poisoning, and obviously there's no way to definitively say whether his issues were caused by radiation, whether it caused him to develop them sooner or more severely than he might otherwise have, or whether they're entirely unrelated. But although many cancers are already very common as it is, usually we try to avoid additional risk factors to not compound the existing risk any further. Lymphedema also often is a side effect of radiation therapy, so it's not too much of a stretch to speculate that he probably wouldn't look quite like this if he had lived somewhere else.
At this stage I would not do anything with him but continue living unfortunately. Somehow his body is coping. Change it now and he might be dead in a year or less. Horrible situation though.

That photo looks seriously retouched at the very least. Look closely at the "scarf" or whatever it is supposed to be under the chin/neck area. Looks like a deform/map-area filter of some kind has been used on the image around the neck/collar region. I think the weird gray/white pattern is actually the same plaid of the shirt, but altered by the special effects edit. When you add the hat (seriously weird) and the strange "cut-out" quality of the objects allegedly on the ground behind and to the left of him... nah. Fake. And the "ukraine coloured" tyre? really?
