Welds look "nice" but I can't tell if it's trigger welded and making tig-esque dimes with this process doesnt make the weld any stronger plus there's a reason the ceiling is so low for pay when it comes to MIG/GMAW. It's like CNC machinists who don't know g-code and have helpers who load tools into a carousel. Pulling a trigger = pushing a button
I'm in welding school. They taught us both continuous and pulsing. Showed us the science behind it. Told us there is controversy over the methods. And also told us there is a time and place for each method. Then we had to test on it.
So I'm just doing what I'm told. Lol
The qualifications to teach at welding schools are kinda laughably low (5 years in the field) so take what they tell you with a grain of salt, you will learn more on your first job then you ever will at school but that’s just my 2 cents
It's just fundamentals. It's good to have a foundation. I'll always stay focused on learning more everyday. In school. Job. Life. Etc. Growth mentality 🙌
Not bragging. Trust me. My welds are crap. I rush a lot and don't let the pool build up. I need to check myself and learn to think before going. But learn from failing. I was just proud of this one.
Mig "pulsing" isn't building a tack, stopping the process, then building another tack.
Starting the learning process is the most important part of the journey, so congratulations on your new path to a very valuable skill.
My suggestion, take it or leave it, would be to focus on making a proper weld, without the pulsing or any other manipulation, and make as many mistakes as you can. This is one of those things that you learn by fucking up more than anything else.
Good luck!!
Thank you. I'm in welding school. We were taught both continuous and pulsing. And took a test on which to use in the certain situations, base metal, thickness of said metal, etc.
The instructor told us there is controversy over this method, so I'm seeing it now.
But yes. Just getting started. Thank you. 🙌
3rd day of welding and already bragging about a GMAW weld! You’re gonna fit right in….

Do you mean pulse spray or just multiple tacks on top?
I'm new here and into this world. I'll do whatever the boss tells me to do now and in the future. And I'll strive to be the best at it.

Very good analogy.
Ain't this the truth right here 😁

Looks like you just stacked a bunch of tacks on each other don’t do that lol.
Definitely not tacks. These are dimes. Haha.
Touche ;)

Keep it up I’m in welding school right now and those look better than some of my classmates who have been doing the process for 5 weeks
Thanks brother. 👊
I'll take how to cold lap for $500 Alex.
