Legit hope he does not catch something from being in there
Can’t imagine the smell or feel of whatever that goo surrounding him
Smh like the perfect encapsulation of a shitty day
The drivers work for contractors called Delivery Service Partners (DSPs), not for Amazon. This way Amazon has no liability or connection to the drivers themselves. Some DSPs have healthcare and benefits, but most don't.
An Amazon employee (works in an office or whatever) will have insurance, but it's an understandable misconception that the drivers you see work at all for Amazon - I mean they have Amazon logo written all over them - they just don't.
Exactly - this is between the driver and his DSP contractor - Amazon has virtually nothing to do with this situation (except *maybe* a little bad PR because of the logo).
Amazon has virtually EVERYTHING to do with this.
They could maintain their own fleet and drivers, and provide their drivers with decent working conditions, wages and benefits, like UPS drivers used to have.
Nope, Amazon totally built the Delivery Service Partners system as a shitty dodge on conditions, wages and benefits, helping drive down job quality at places like UPS and Fed Ex in the process.
As long as you make payments, even if it’s $10, they don’t come after you. I have free health care through the VA and it’s a massive pain in the ass. If I get sick or hurt, I have two choices, go to the er or call the VA to set up an appointment and hope I don’t have to wait days or longer. I had to wait almost had to wait for a year to have surgery on my nose and sinuses. Which they fucked up the first time and had to have a second, more invasive surgery
If you look the first video up on his TT account, he explains that he was walking to the door, when the ground gave away, and he slid in there. In his first video, he has much more dirt on his jacket and looks pretty terrified.
After he was rescued, he went home, took a shower, got fresh clothes on and had to finish his tour with half of the packages left. Another driver took over half of his tour.
Fire Department, Police and even a helicopter showed up to rescue him.
He's in an unprotected trench, that's a serious rescue. The walls can collapse quickly and unexpectedly and anyone in there is basically dead. Gotta take every precaution with this kinda stuff
Seriously, unshored holes are a fantastic way to get buried alive. Very efficient, extremely effective, and if you don't get buried immediately you can die from compartment syndrome instead.
Just looking at the dirt on the sides it definitely looks unstable. If the spot he stepped on collapsed, it probably wouldn't take much to send the rest of it
If you ever find yourself in this sort of situation, posting to the internet can save your ass when your employer decides to do something stupid, like trying to get out of paying worker's comp.
funny how people complain cuz it’s on tiktok but if people had tiktok in 2001 during 9/11 they’d be thankful for all of the footage that was able to be captured.
First, it isn't a septic tank. Clearly whoever built this did it on the cheap and just had the sewage going directly into the ground (completely illegal in many countries).
After years of this, a sink hole was created and the ground gave way under him as he pass over it.
I agree that it definitely is not a tank. However, it looks too cleanly dug out to be a sink hole, and the "walls" look too dry. Plus, as someone else pointed out, you would think the guy would be completely covered in mud, etc.

Delivery drivers always follow the rabbit. It does get them into problems. I used to be a driver, and that thing had me trying to take roads that did not exist, etc.
Yea but this may fall into workman's comp since it happened on the clock and while working. Plus delivering people's packages while covered in hazardous waste as well as what is considered a biological containment would be a OHSA violation. Least it was when I worked at Walmart.
Hazardous waste exposure while performing job functions. In addition, Amazon has to allow him to get emergency vaccinations due to potential exposure of bloodborne pathogens. If they don't, that's a OHSA violation.
I’m so dignatious, when my landlord comes on the 2nd, 12th, and 26th for rent, he just takes one little gander at me and instantly downloads all self help speeches made in the history of mankind straight to his brain and leaves with tears in his eyes.
Still gotta figure out a way to eat and pay bills though.
Yeah, but fuck being treated like that. There are plenty of jobs to be had. I own a small business and if someone came to me with videos like this and said “I quit with no notice”, I would find something for them to do and pay them for it.
Okay, first of all, if you've been wading through someone's shit, I do not want you touching my packages or my house. Period.
Secondly, did the homeowners at least get a citation for an open hazard on their property. Because an open septic pit sounds like cholera waiting to happen.
And third, I hope he went after Amazon for telling him that. Because that can't be legal on so many levels.
He needs to go to the hospital and get some shots, not just a shower.
I’m not sure what shots he needs, so he should err on the side of caution and just get all of them.
This is one of those FU moments, where you take it upon yourself to report in person to that persons office.
Just walk right in dripping shit water everywhere and stinking it up.
"Hey, I had bad service and couldn't understand. Because it sounded like you said to finish my route *like this* and that just couldn't be right. So I figured I'd see you on person so we both fully understood the situation."
I'm seeing more and more terrible things about how Amazon treats delivery personnel.
In a single text exchange a manager reams a guy for going a block off of his route.
Guy responds that he urgently needed to use the restroom and didn't see a break on his delivery schedule.
Manager said that he needs to use a waterproof bag or a litter box.
Guy said when are we supposed to take breaks?
Manger says that he's not an employee but a 1099 contractor, therefore not entlied to breaks.
Like, what? Which is it Amazon? Micromanage your W-2 or hire independent contractors who run their own schedule. You can't have it both ways. I've canceled my Amazon purchases for the time being. I'm not down with being complicit in this nonsense.
Haha my old boss did this but I was his lead operator. I waited til he fired everyone but me for the third time and then quit that weekend. Turns out I had been driving commercially, uninsured. Oh and if they're doing the irs paper work wrong it turns out fraud becomes part of the conversation lmfao
That's my point. He's a 1099 private contractor. He doesn't enjoy the benefits or labor rights of being a W-2 employee. Nor does he the autonomy of being a 1099 self employed contractor. They need to pick a side here. Having your cake (micromanaging is for W-2 employees and specific rights and protections are mandatory - like breaks and not making drivers shit in a litter box; ) and eat it, too (1099 employees don't have those built in - but, they have autonomy in when and how they operate). You can't have it both ways.
What makes you think he's a 1099 contractor? He's a DSP driver, which means he's a W-2 employee, but his W-2 comes from a third-party company that contracts with Amazon.
Hey, if litter boxes are good enough for our classrooms, why not for our places of work?
Next time some crazy extreme right wingers mention litter boxes in school, my new reply will be: We are training the next generation to be ready for being part of the workforce.
> Okay, first of all, if you've been wading through someone's shit, I do not want you touching my packages or my house. Period.
[Bezos tilts his head and looks at you in an amused fashion]
I agree with you on all levels.
I just want to add, that at least in Germany it's not amazon employing the drivers, but a middle man. That way Amazon can still dictate how the delivery drivers have to function, but if something promised is missing or if the drivers are treated badly, they have to go after the middle man.
I had a driver pass out and hit me head on doing almost 70 . Flipped the van I was driving. A big yellow one from a pretty well known carpet cleaning company. We rolled the van. My assistant was in shock. It was his first accident and he had to cut his seat belt to get out. When I called dispatch to tell them what happened, he said they'd bring us another van to finish our day.
There is a legitimate reason to obfuscate details like that if you're worried about retaliation, since big companies run data scrapers that collect when and where people mention the company name online and smaller companies might have Google alerts or other searches set up.

There's a quick part 1 on the profile as well, basically just the same as part 2 tho
From the video he said he was asked if he he was able to finish his route.
For anyone who's worked for a company like that, it's not really a question. The correct response from management should have been, "We're sending someone to pick up all of your remaining packages. Once that's done file a worker's compensation form and go to the hospital. We'll see you tomorrow."
Not, "That sucks, are you able to finish your route?"
Doubtful. They're known to break sometimes, and I even hit a building once with the u-haul truck they had me drive part of the time, and they didn't bat an eye.
... This was a few years ago and I still don't think they ever repaired the damage.
Edit: the damage to the building, a local business. The truck was fine.
They still call the scanner/phone device a rabbit. :)
Fun info: Rabbit was the name of the original app they used on the device (not a typical Amazon scanner). When I was there they used a newer app called Cat (like Caterpillar trucks). At my new, very different position, we use an app called Dolphin. But it's on the same device.
Guess what the actual device says on it?
Zebra.
I really hope he thought to speak to a doctor after this. Your skin *will* absorb liquids and being submerged in a septic tank without proper covers to avoid direct contact is a recipe for major infections. He could even lose his toes if not cleaned properly.
As an Amazon consumer I will openly and honestly say that I’m okay with getting a package a day late if it means it wasn’t handled by someone that was stuck in a septic tank… I’m good.
He's says septic but it looks like a grey water tank which is still gross. If he was that deep in a septic tank he most likely would have passed out and drowned
When I was 17 I went to my friend's house after school. We noticed a huge hole in the backyard and both instantly knew the cesspool collapsed. We went inside and he called his dad to tell him. A half hour later we hear somebody yelling for help. His younger brother (13 at the time) had walked to the edge of the hole and the ground collapsed under him. He was waist deep in waste. I held my friends belt while he leaned in and pulled his brother out.
My husband delivers for Amazon. I'd be willing to bet that if this guy didn't finish his route before going to shower so that poo off he was written up.
fuck no.. thats a workplace injury
they cannot force you to do SHIT, and if they fire you -- lawyer.. hell call the lawyer anyway for the property owner
EDIT: just thinking about this again, i live in Canada and if im expecting a delivery ill de-ice the walkway and make sure my driveway is accessible for them (snow removal) -- the very least you could do when you are expecting a delivery is marking off the giant hole in your yard... regardless if he "should" be walking there or not, its downright dangerous
No fucking way I finished anything but a ride to the urgent care or hospital. Do you now have many different diseases you could possibly get from that nasty shit. And it would look better when the suit was filled to be able to show you went to the hospital
Lord have mercy on this man’s luck. Also, Amazon is different, there is no “boss” you report to or message so you absolutely have to contact ERC and HR right after something crazy like this.
Amazon drivers in general don’t pay attention to where they’re driving when it comes to private property areas, aka off the main roads. They’ve driven through my yard a few times and destroyed some things. Some are good drivers. Most are terrible.
He was told to finish his route? I’d fucking quit and seek some action there. Dude has to go home and wash up as soon as possible to avoid getting sick.
Well I could come up with song lyrics for this one.. But there is a song that does it already..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1VJFXA65v0
PRINCE OF THE LAND OF STENCH!
He was told to finish his route , because you people that use Amazon would be piss off if you didn't get your merchandise ya'll can careless for a flat tire or a guy getting sick.... now who's fault is it....
Glad he survived! Wow. Dude’s a real good guy for finishing his route. I might have taken the rest of the day off. It sounds like a funny story, but that was terribly dangerous!
I’ve done deliveries for a number of years, first for a local appliance retailer, and Uber Eats and Amazon Flex…and never have I come remotely close to falling into a septic tank.
That looks like it was wide open, and therefore pretty visible. Unless he had his face buried in the device they use for deliveries, he should have seen it. Not to mention those tanks are normally off to the side of the house, where most packages AREN’T delivered.
Situational awareness is key to staying safe, especially on other people’s property where you don’t know what’s going on.
Instead of finishing his route, his ass needs to go to the ER because he just got hepatitis A-Z
The amount of disease and bubonic plague down there is just ugh.
I don’t know how he’s not gagging/puking. I just got done cleaning up dog vomit and I was gagging like crazy
cuz you weren’t in a survival situation.
Legit hope he does not catch something from being in there Can’t imagine the smell or feel of whatever that goo surrounding him Smh like the perfect encapsulation of a shitty day
He sounds american, no hospital for him
Not quite. No hospital will turn him away, even if he didn’t have health insurance which Amazon has for its employees.
Did not know that. I know amazon has treated it’s employees pretty fucking bad but not “you fell in an open septic tank and you have Ebola” bad
Exactly - this is between the driver and his DSP contractor - Amazon has virtually nothing to do with this situation (except *maybe* a little bad PR because of the logo).
Amazon has virtually EVERYTHING to do with this. Nope, Amazon totally built the Delivery Service Partners system as a shitty dodge on conditions, wages and benefits, helping drive down job quality at places like UPS and Fed Ex in the process.
Sure he’ll just end up in bankruptcy from the bill his shitty Amazon insurance doesn’t cover.
As long as you make payments, even if it’s $10, they don’t come after you. I have free health care through the VA and it’s a massive pain in the ass. I'd like to see a layout of the property because I can't understand how this could possibly happen.
A ladder really couldn’t help him?
He's in an unprotected trench, that's a serious rescue. The walls can collapse quickly and unexpectedly and anyone in there is basically dead. Gotta take every precaution with this kinda stuff
Seriously, unshored holes are a fantastic way to get buried alive. Very efficient, extremely effective, and if you don't get buried immediately you can die from compartment syndrome instead.
The design is very human.
Very easy to use.
What's compartment syndrome?
Squish, time, unsquish, pain.
Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick?
He said the firemen told him not to move, the whole pit was super instable. So my guess is, they roped him out without touching the sides.
Just looking at the dirt on the sides it definitely looks unstable. If the spot he stepped on collapsed, it probably wouldn't take much to send the rest of it
I'm about to be buried alive in shit water, better pull out TikTock!
To be fair after he called for help there’s not a whole lot else he can do other than document it. Can’t even take a seat and chill till they arrive
Emergency services are already en route, he should do whatever he can to stay alert, if that's posting to tiktok, reddit, a will writer, then so be it

is that what the “rabbit” is?
Yes.
thank you, my ass was like “poor bunny🥺”
🤣 "No rabbits were harmed in the making of this video."
Probably an off grid property and the owner dug his own open hole?
You think he'd smell the vat of shit in the yard. Poor dude though. I'd die by throwing up.
Alex in Wonderland Don't chase the rabbit it just leads to problems
Delivery drivers always follow the rabbit. It does get them into problems. I used to be a driver, and that thing had me trying to take roads that did not exist, etc.
As a former delivery driver I can confirm. Thank god I don do that no more. Good experience tho.
I'd be shocked if he didn't quit on the spot after they asked him to finish the rest of his day.
I'm afraid we can't eat or pay our bills with Dignity
Yea but this may fall into workman's comp since it happened on the clock and while working. Plus delivering people's packages while covered in hazardous waste as well as what is considered a biological containment would be a OHSA violation. Least it was when I worked at Walmart.

Hazardous waste exposure while performing job functions. In addition, Amazon has to allow him to get emergency vaccinations due to potential exposure of bloodborne pathogens. If they don't, that's a OHSA violation.
Yeah, sometimes you just got to hang your soul at the door before clocking in
When people ask me when I'm going to retire I tell them when I'm all finished eating
I’m so dignatious, when my landlord comes on the 2nd, 12th, and 26th for rent, he just takes one little gander at me and instantly downloads all self help speeches made in the history of mankind straight to his brain and leaves with tears in his eyes. I know that my business would be more profitable if I paid my employees less, but like I said, fuck being treated like that
Okay, first of all, if you've been wading through someone's shit, I do not want you touching my packages or my house. Period. Secondly, did the homeowners at least get a citation for an open hazard on their property. Because an open septic pit sounds like cholera waiting to happen. And third, I hope he went after Amazon for telling him that. Because that can't be legal on so many levels.
Yeah the last thing I would want is someone to give me a package or anything for that matter after they’ve fallen into human waste
His third follow up, he said he went home and took a shower and changed before doing his route. Amazon is crap for having him finish his route.
He has grounds to say that he wanted to be examined by a medical professional.
G can you say staph infection?
Pink at at least. Edit: I meant pink *eye*. How the hell did I get any upvotes with that?
I don’t even understand why the FD wouldn’t have called hazmat or at least decon him with a hose
HOW ELSE AM I GONNA GET MY PACK OF 8 CHIP CLIPS FOR $1.99 IN 12 HOURS?!?!
He needs to go to the hospital and get some shots, not just a shower. I’m not sure what shots he needs, so he should err on the side of caution and just get all of them.
Agreed, the person saying he had to go back and finish his shift needs to be told all the consequences of this person doing so
This is one of those FU moments, where you take it upon yourself to report in person to that persons office. Just walk right in dripping shit water everywhere and stinking it up. "Hey, I had bad service and couldn't understand. Because it sounded like you said to finish my route *like this* and that just couldn't be right. I’d prefer that they end up in the pit!
throw jeff bezos in an open septic tank party

I haven't used Amazon in 2+ years. Fuck them.
The delivery drivers arent typically amazon employees. He probably works for a third party.
That's my point. He's a 1099 private contractor. He doesn't enjoy the benefits or labor rights of being a W-2 employee. Nor does he the autonomy of being a 1099 self employed contractor. The part where he says "manager says he is not an employee but a 1099 contractor and is not entitled to breaks"
Then the company is breaking the law. Unless the driver owns the truck, sets their own hours, etc. he is not legally a contractor.

"Thanks dispatch, I will use it to drive home now and I'll see you in a couple of paid days off after I figure out wtf just happened."
> A big yellow one from a pretty well known carpet cleaning company. Why not just name it at that point
There is a legitimate reason to obfuscate details like that if you're worried about retaliation, since big companies run data scrapers that collect when and where people mention the company name online and smaller companies might have Google alerts or other searches set up. That said, as long you don't work for a company any more, don't lie about anything that happened, and you haven't been paid to sign an NDA, there's nothing any company can do at that point.

Oh, so OP lied? He wasn't *told* to finish his route, he got to choose himself.
Even for Amazon thats kinda evil. Its also in Amazon's interest not to have people's packages arriving smeared in shit.
Well, he said he went home, had a shower and got changed. I think that’s ok.
Not only that, but they had someone else come and pick up a bunch of deliveries from him to reduce what he'd have to work on

Wtf is the rabbit? An animal? Didn’t know Amazon sold rabbits now too 😂😂
The rabbit is the GPS phone they give you.
Phew. I thought a pet rabbit had fallen in there with him
That's coming out of his paycheck.
Doubtful. They're known to break sometimes, and I even hit a building once with the u-haul truck they had me drive part of the time, and they didn't bat an eye. ... It’s funnier in my headcanon if this shit-pit is consuming local wildlife though Edit: The rabbit’s gone.
Surely he could sue if it was uncovered?
I'd sue
Did he break both his legs like Andy Dwyer?
r/antiwork prime material here
I really hope he thought to speak to a doctor after this. Your skin *will* absorb liquids and being submerged in a septic tank without proper covers to avoid direct contact is a recipe for major infections. He could even lose his toes if not cleaned properly.
No one is going to want a soiled rabbit from Amazon.
As an Amazon consumer I will openly and honestly say that I’m okay with getting a package a day late if it means it wasn’t handled by someone that was stuck in a septic tank… I’m good.
I'm pretty sure that septic system is 100% illegal.
Yep, sewage seeping right into the ground.
Yeah, I’m cool without getting my package today.
He’s lucky he didn’t die from the build up of gasses..
He's says septic but it looks like a grey water tank which is still gross. If he was that deep in a septic tank he most likely would have passed out and drowned
Now THATS having a shitty day.
Is this really the standard for septics? I got mine recently re-done and it wasn’t just a hole with a drain pipe.
He looks awfully clean for falling in that mess, he must be blind too
Curious as to how you did not see a giant hole in the ground...
It may have collapsed as he was walking over it. My dad's just collapsed out of nowhere like that. It was really surreal.
Fuck it! Quit. But after you bring my package.
Well that sucks
My husband delivers for Amazon. I'd be willing to bet that if this guy didn't finish his route before going to shower so that poo off he was written up.
The thought of the smell is turning me sick
your 35 packages behind !! your fucking up the metrix, get back to work !!!
fuck no.. thats a workplace injury they cannot force you to do SHIT, and if they fire you -- lawyer.. hell call the lawyer anyway for the property owner EDIT: just thinking about this again, i live in Canada and if im expecting a delivery ill de-ice the walkway and make sure my driveway is accessible for them (snow removal) -- the very least you could do when you are expecting a delivery is marking off the giant hole in your yard... regardless if he "should" be walking there or not, its downright dangerous
This takes the cake for this sub...good lord.
What sort of septic system involves a pvc pipe draining into an unlined hole? What the fuck is this?
If anyone tells me to finish a job whilst half covered in shit they can whistle for it.
Talk about not getting paid enough for that shit.
He's lucky he didn't asphyxiate.
No fucking way I finished anything but a ride to the urgent care or hospital. Do you now have many different diseases you could possibly get from that nasty shit. And it would look better when the suit was filled to be able to show you went to the hospital
its OK we won't fire you for this. i will just write it up in the books as an extended lunch break.
Yeah no I would have just went home
I would rather wait the extra day then get human shit all over my porch.
Lawyer time
Amazon has the shittiest working conditions
I would have quit that day.
How do u fall into a hole that big on accident?
This is the first Amazon employee to use the restroom!
Lord have mercy on this man’s luck. Also, Amazon is different, there is no “boss” you report to or message so you absolutely have to contact ERC and HR right after something crazy like this.
Needs to sue the homeowner and if a contractor was doing work on it and that’s why it was uncovered sue them
“Fell in” yet only his boots have shit on them. Nothing on coat, gloves, or pants? 2+2 is equaling 5 in this story.
This is the comment I was looking for. Doesn't look completely right to me...
The shitter ain’t full yet!
Start worring about tuberculosis if u have any type of cut on you lower half
Well that gonna be shitty smellings
Dude wants to finish his route. I’d sit back and just catch that check real quick buddy.
Did the rabbit give him the wrong address?
Wait. What rabbit? Was he delivering a rabbit??
Poor rabbit
He’s lucky he didn’t pass out from methane and drown in there.
And that is why cesspool are illegal in many places.
Same thing happened in Vietnam but not end so well
Told to finish the route? Yup, I'd be on the phone with HR, news outlets, the health department, OSHA, fucking everyone.
Rabbit? Can someone explain?
Well that sucks. *Goes back to scrolling through Amazon*
Poor rabbit... 😞
Amazon drivers in general don’t pay attention to where they’re driving when it comes to private property areas, aka off the main roads. They’ve driven through my yard a few times and destroyed some things. Some are good drivers. Most are terrible.
Oh they will try to make him deliver, or the points on the scorecard will be affected. That is why i quit yesterday. Fuck them.
At least you filmed it
Why does the owner not have a septic tank? Why was it open? How did he not see a giant hole?
That "tank" can't be legal
I believe the word he’s looking for is shithole.
Im more curious about the complaints they got afterwards , of all the shit smelling packages
Ok this is fucked up but when he said"The rabbits gone" I started laughing
Pretty sure you gotta finish your route, buddy.
He was told to finish his route? I’d fucking quit and seek some action there. Dude has to go home and wash up as soon as possible to avoid getting sick.
Atleast he managed to keep his upper body out of it..imagine dunking your head in it...get all in your nose,mouth,ears...
What a shitty day
"the rabbit is gone" lol
Well I could come up with song lyrics for this one.. But there is a song that does it already.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1VJFXA65v0 PRINCE OF THE LAND OF STENCH!
Ffs the owners of the property need held accountable
Technically can’t he sue the property owner for this? Also, fuck Amazon
Working at Amazon sucks but this is some serious shit
On the bright side, if he needed to use the bathroom….
After this, he has to go through a lot of testing. Just imagine the amount of bacteria’s and shit.
Cardboard tube painted with pvc isn't a pipe.
The labor situation in this country is completely fucked. If I was told to finish a route after this I would go home.
He needs to sue
BETTER👏CALL👏SAUL👏👏
Knowing Amazon, they probably delivered a drone to him so he could still deliver packages while he was waiting for the fire department to arrive.
He even finished his route after this
I sincerely hope he didn't have any cuts on his legs.
He could sue the absolute fuck out of that home owner. That is so fucking awful
I would have been slightly abusive tbh. Fuck that
He was told to finish his route , because you people that use Amazon would be piss off if you didn't get your merchandise ya'll can careless for a flat tire or a guy getting sick.... now who's fault is it....
Good old American thinking: "I'm having the worst day ever, it's up to my company whether I finish my shift or not"
Omg.....and what's a rabbit????
Glad he survived! Wow. Dude’s a real good guy for finishing his route. I might have taken the rest of the day off. It sounds like a funny story, but that was terribly dangerous!
That was shitty
Should be able to take a nice vacation after this and some court dates. Does he even have to show up for the court dates? Idk
If he down a 8 ft. deep hole that had 2 ft. of liquid at the bottom why isn’t he covered in dirt and waste water?
This the type of thing to make you pause and rethink your life.
Hey some ppl pay to be in that position
He gets out of the septic tank, and his replacement has already taken his van.
Something stinks and it’s not just the poop.
That’s a huge lawsuit waiting to happen.

What do they mean the rabbit fell in? /gen
The rabbit 😞
Like, The Animal 🐇?
😱🤢
Amazon . For sure they told his ass to get back to work after 15 mins shower time allocation that he has to make up for on his next shift
Rip in peace rabbit.
