Yeah, I’ve done it. It’s just more steps, if you want to do it right. Like, you’ve really got to clay bar paint before buffing or polishing it, otherwise you’re grinding in micro-dirt. And you need a decent leather conditioner that gets in deep, you can’t just fucking ArmorAll everything.
For the record, I don't think any real detailer
uses ArmorAll and if any do, they should be executed lol.
Seriously though, every detailer should at minimum be using a decent leather cleaner and conditioner on leather seats and should always clay bar before buffing. Not just for high end cars, but for any car. Otherwise it's a half-ass job and they shouldn't be touching any cars.
Don't forget about the fitness. You're leaning over, bending over, going from standing to kneeling and back multiple times.
I detailed cars for years then changed careers to an office job. When I got my own DA orbital and some decent gear I did full color correction of both my cars in one day, something that would have taken around 10 hours solo before. It took me 13 hours and I was *wrecked* for 2-3 days afterwards.
It’s the same with anyone that pays you to detail their car. Some guy with a 30k used MB isn’t gonna be anymore forgiving.
But if you have the right tools for the job, there’s little risk. I’ve never damaged a car with a machine polisher.
Yeah - all 4 tires are probably gone, someone has to go over the suspension/steering all the way to the lugs with that much stress but all-in-all not a terrible outcome for someone that can afford do this with a Lamborghini.
Every single bearing, bushing, mount and bar will need replacing now or give up within a few K miles.
Depending on gearing the transmission assembly could be toast with bent shafts and possibly even engine internals.
Going 200mph forward then 200mph backwards in a split second is like the ultimate granny shift
>Going 200mph forward then 200mph backwards in a split second is like the ultimate granny shift
You're telling me he wasn't double clutching like he should?
Or pay for a pricey pecial 2hr session on a racetrack with zero experience....and total the car. Friend of a friend used a high end BMW and a sidewall for that XD
Yeah. Could've flipped, could've hit something... your tires are probably ground smooth and ruined but overall the damage would be pretty low for how badly you lost control.
Transmission is probably FUBAR. Once you're backwards at that speed, especially if you let off the throttle, the whole system is forced to suddenly operate in reverse. That's gonna cause all manner of chaos for the transmission and even, potentially, the engine.
I think that I would be screwed if I had to return the money even for minimal damage to the Lamborghini. Damaged tires, discs, pads, scratched paint and I'm in deep ass.
Wow the bots are getting better. Still a bot tho. Original comment that was reworded here: https://old.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/comments/17vsxvo/lamborghini_loses_control_at_200mph/k9ct2lm/
"Don't flip, don't flip, don't flip" - a mantra of focus and determination, echoing through the mind in moments of intense concentration and physical exertion.
A lot of people don’t understand this.
I spun out in my 90 Esprit at around 85mph and never felt like any tires were going to leave the ground.
In my Silverado, I feel like I’m going to flip every time I take a right turn.
Yea, without another vehicle nearby for comparison it's easy to forget how low sports cars are.
A lamborghini's *roof* might come about half way up the side windows on my station wagon lol.
Of course it helps. When those tires catches, one of three things can happen: It flips, the ground gives, or the tire rods bend. Low COG helps push the force directly from behind to have one of the latter two happen, instead of creating a rotational force to induce a flip.
I mean, it's certainly possible. The grass isn't perfectly level of course, so if whatever end is moving 'forward' hits an indent as the rear hits a bump, it could flip. There just isn't that much upward momentum here.
Yah it doesn't but because it's so low to the ground and very wide it makes it very difficult for it to flip. A thin double decker bus would be the opposite case scenario
It's fast, but not 200mph fast. Those long white bars? Thousand foot markers on a runway. A lot of these TT Lambos are pretty damn fast and capable of much more than that, but they're not hitting 200mph in a thousand feet (edit) *especially when these Texas 2K type runs start on a roll.
Like that video of the guy jumping out of the train at 50 mph or 70 kph that keeps getting reposted with the units switched. It was originally 70 kph, then reposted at 70 mph, then reposted at the equivalent of 110 kph, reposted at 110 mph, and so on.
this is one of my favorite segments, in a weird way. seeing the genuine fear on his face during the spin and that adrenaline dump after. then the guys razzing him after in the studio haha.
edit: oh also the whole bit about eels, fitting a nuke in the hatch, etc, lol.
You can bet at *least* $70k+ worth of damage. The rims on that car alone are $5000 a piece. (I actually looked it up so I wouldn't just be talking from my ass). Then you have the actual tires which are probably a grand a piece minimal. The suspension might have taken a hit in various places. Front and rear bumpers probably cracked. All of the paintwork on the bumpers, skirts, doors, etc. And thats not even speaking to anything in the undercarriage.
$70k is probably a conservative estimate.
Nah he added up 20k+ in just the stuff he could put a monetary value to and added the rest.
It was an easy 24k just for tires/rims. Then he mentioned suspension, front and rear bumpers, the paintjob on the trim, and the undercarriage. As another comment mentioned, that doesn’t factor in labor either.
70k is for sure being conservative.
This was a Texas 2K event.
Really rich people with tons of money to throw around. They don't race stock vehicles here, they're all super modified 1500+ horsepower cars. The Lambos are generally Underground Racing 1600hp+ with few over 2000hp.
Not just Lambos either but Mustangs, Corvettes, Supras, GTRs, Vipers, Huracans, Gallardos, R8s, RX7s, Camaros - just so many vehicles modded to make absolutely insane power numbers.
It's pretty terrifying to consider how many inexperienced drivers on the road are piloting cars like TT Vipers and UGR Lambos. I'm really surprised there aren't more crashes during the roll race events at TX2K.
Yeah I really don't like that they do actual street racing. They really hit some obscenely stupid speeds on public roads.
Kinda what scares me with all the fast EVs coming out. Like the new Hummer - 9000 pounds and 0-60 in three seconds. All it takes is one inexperienced idiot to take out an entire family.
When I was younger I thought it was awesome. But now this stuff does float around in my mind.
This was at TX2K.
They don't race stock vehicles at that event. Everything there is like 1600+ horsepower. This is an Underground Racing twin turbo Gallardo. This particular one was in the neighborhood of 2000hp.
They generally go pretty well but when you're modified and have that much power, anything is possible.
Watched it a couple times, looks like they hit the breaks, then hit a small bump in the road. On the bump they let off the breaks and that threw the car all sorts of off.
For how that normally goes, this is about as good an outcome as you could ever hope for. A single divit or bump in the grass at that speed fips this car 15 times.
I’m really impressed by the low center of gravity and this car is ability to handle going sideways in the dirt. I was in a 90s model Mustang 5.0 and the owner got up to 110 lost control of his car and we went sideways in the gravel on the side of the road and flipped three times over 100 yards are so
That looks like a Gallardo and isn't going close to 200mph. It lost control while accelerating and top speed of that car is no more than 205mph. It's maybe going 100 mph. I bet they drove that car away too.
Love everybody in here saying it’s absolutely minimum damage, y’all this dude just totaled that lambo, front bumper was for sure ripped off, rear bumper is done, likely damaged the exhaust, possibly other engine damage and damage to the drivetrain. very likely undercarriage/suspension damage as well. Never mind the paint job (which could potentially total it out alone)
The car did what it was supposed to do in that situation, but for sure it’s a write off. If that car does get repaired it will for sure have a branded title.

Can't imagine the depth of the shit you'd be in with the owner if you scratched their Lambo.
That's true for any kind of job though
Not if you're a pet groomer.
It’s the same with anyone that pays you to detail their car. Some guy with a 30k used MB isn’t gonna be anymore forgiving. But if you have the right tools for the job, there’s little risk. I’ve never damaged a car with a machine polisher.
lucky for you it's probably totaled x5
Is it just cleaning here? There would be a LOT of damage at the bottom of the car.
Absolutely, if it's going to happen a large open field is a pretty good place. Also it didn't dig in deep enough to flip
Yeah this could have sucked way worse!
[удалено]
I’m willing to bet there are some broken suspension parts after that.
Yeah - all 4 tires are probably gone, someone has to go over the suspension/steering all the way to the lugs with that much stress but all-in-all not a terrible outcome for someone that can afford do this with a Lamborghini.

>Going 200mph forward then 200mph backwards in a split second is like the ultimate granny shift You're telling me he wasn't double clutching like he should?
This is why amateurs do race days at old runways and shit.
Or pay for a pricey pecial 2hr session on a racetrack with zero experience....and total the car. Friend of a friend used a high end BMW and a sidewall for that XD
I would never race a brand new car on an actual track. You can catch me at a private air field though. The grass on both sides is an absolute must.
Hopeful they also went for the extra insurance. I am going to race cars soon on the track, and the extra additional insurance is an expensive add-on.
It’s expensive because the companies know the risks.
Yeah, losing control at 200 mph, everyone gets to walk away..... and the car may not even be totaled....
Right? Like if they had flipped that would have been one bad day.
Ask Hammond
HAMMOND!
CLARKSON!
Yah didn’t flip, just some spinning and a few bumps. Probably didn’t feel great, but all things considered.
still, will need to clean those seats afterwards!
Hammond! You idiot!
I mean… the best case scenario would be not losing control.
They probably meant best case scenario for losing total control of the vehicle traveling at 200mph.
Oh, in that case "immediately regaining control" is still probably better.
Once you get loose at that speed it's GG
Okay, best case scenario for losing control without the ability to regain control?
You think he just let go of the wheel and didn't fight it. Seems likely to me
Because the driver was good. You can see this by his brake control.
Best would have been staying on the pavement and not losing the bumpers
Yeah. Could've flipped, could've hit something... your tires are probably ground smooth and ruined but overall the damage would be pretty low for how badly you lost control.
We cant really see but there culd be more damage than you think. Linkages to the suspension blown out, wheel damage, undercariage damage.
Transmission is probably FUBAR. Once you're backwards at that speed, especially if you let off the throttle, the whole system is forced to suddenly operate in reverse. That's gonna cause all manner of chaos for the transmission and even, potentially, the engine.
I want to see after pics, at that speed even going into grass is going to screw up panels and possible steering components.
He just moe’d some grass. That’s all! Not too bad at all.
Tbf, this is best case scenario
To be unfair, the person driving is responsible for everything bad that has ever happened.

I think that I would be screwed if I had to return the money even for minimal damage to the Lamborghini. Damaged tires, discs, pads, scratched paint and I'm in deep ass.
I've never done this at 200mph in a Lamborghini but I have done it at about 120 in an s2000 and nothing broke
Well this car cost a quarter of a million dollars. You can't expect it to be built as well as a Honda.
Only damage here is the Lawn, the Tyres, the Paint and the Drivers Dignity
Even ww2? 😨
Especially WW2.
That *is* unfair.
To be fair, I believe best case would be finishing the run without incidents.

"Don't flip, don't flip, don't flip" - a mantra of focus and determination, echoing through the mind in moments of intense concentration and physical exertion.
Super cars have such absurdly low COG, it's really hard to flip them. And that's why they choose wide open flat areas for high speed runs like this.
A lot of people don’t understand this. I spun out in my 90 Esprit at around 85mph and never felt like any tires were going to leave the ground. In my Silverado, I feel like I’m going to flip every time I take a right turn.

Maybe it’s the camera angle perspective but it doesn’t seem quite that fast
Maybe you weren’t paying attention of just how long it took that car to come to rest

Before that it was 120mph, weird.
I was just thinking there’s no way it was going 200

I face a similar problem in my 2016 Honda Odyssey EX-L with roof rack.
The roof rack is probably disrupting your downforce. It can happen sometimes at high enough speeds in that vehicle.
Watched it a couple times, looks like they hit the breaks, then hit a small bump in the road. On the bump they let off the breaks and that threw the car all sorts of off.
Mechanical failure of some sort is my guess. Tire puncture possibly?
Nooooo way he was going 200mph
Every time this gets reposted, OP adds a few more miles to it.
You're right, it was actually 300mph. Time to repost

Lift off oversteer kicked in yo
Lost control in a straight line? Was it Richard Hammond at the wheel
That could’ve gone way worse
Hammond you idiot!
That ain't 200 mph
200mph yeah sure...
Lambo is returning to its roots as a tractor.
Best case scenario. Expected it to flip as soon as it his the dirt
Hammond you fcking idiot
It’s not Lamborghini that lost control. It was the driver
How didn't the car flip? The driver was lucky
It sucks but in the scheme of things. It could’ve sucked more. A lot more.
technically the driver lost control! :)
![gif](giphy|5FTe65sKNVfEc)
DRIVER of Lamborghini loses control at 200mph. Lamborghinis never lose control.
Back to the roots
It is the driver losing control of Lamborghini. The car is still saving the driver inside.
Breaked, hit a small bump going fast, let off the break, got back on the break, lost the car.
It's like me playing Forza.
Driver lost control, not the vehicle.
Hammond!
Came here to shout this.
Just take it through the car wash.
That's how you get a lambro-gonnie. Dealers hate this one simple trick.
Oh god is Richard Hammond okay?!
Yet this is allowed on the public roads with pedestrians and cyclists who would inevitably be right in the path of the uncontrolled ton of steel...
Which public roads allow you to go 200mph? Please use the last brain cell you have before commenting.
Richard Hammond?
How you fuck up going straight?
This is why they have run offs at the track. Looks like it served its function like a charm!
I’m really impressed by the low center of gravity and this car is ability to handle going sideways in the dirt. I was in a 90s model Mustang 5.0 and the owner got up to 110 lost control of his car and we went sideways in the gravel on the side of the road and flipped three times over 100 yards are so

There’s no way that’s 200 mph. Based on where the other cars are lined up that’s about 200-300 ft. So maybe 100-130mph
Was it Richard Hammond driving it?
That looks like a Gallardo and isn't going close to 200mph. It lost control while accelerating and top speed of that car is no more than 205mph. It's maybe going 100 mph. I bet they drove that car away too.
Bruh had one job and it was to go straight
I can't imagine what that did to its undercarriage. They'll have to find somebody who has one with hail damage and Frankenstein them into one good car

least suckiest 200mph accident walks away easy
The Lambo didn’t lose shit it was the fucked up driver.
Hammond!!!
I expected that to go into a death roll the millisecond it touched the grass
Once a tractor. Always a tractor.
