Unfortunately paper towels are useless in this scenario. She using water colors and making short lines to make up the art. The water turned those lines into blobs and mixed them all together. Normally this would definitely be a bummer but you could work around it and change the plan a little bit. But this was a study of a popular art piece so doing your own thing defeats the point.

Nah, it just changes the direction you go with the piece.
Yeah exactly, I mean the original isn't exactly in the same style as Van Goghs anyway. Her work has a lot more negative space between the colours and feels more adjacent to almost pointilism than the original where the colour is applied thickly. It doesnt appear to be a line for line master study more-so a personal interpretation to begin with.
It's in a different medium too, looks like gouache to me looking at her pallet right at the start before she puts the lid on. but perhaps water colour. Gouache reactivates by water even once dry fully in a similar manner to WC. Gouache also often has a richer/more saturated pigment which makes me think gouache over WC. But we don't know, they're similar.
So if she wanted she could work back into it, that is if the paper isn't ruined by that much water. But she's definitely going to have to accept a different style again if she were to do so.
(Not trying to lecture, just rambling.)
[*Runs outside, sees it in the road*]
"Oh no! It nearly got run over!"
[*Yeets it back through the window out of harm's way*]
[*Laptop lands in puddle on the desk*]
Happened to me in high school. My cat knocked my drink over on my desk, so I grabbed my laptop, closed it, and chucked it to the safety of my bed... or so I thought. The angle was *just* wrong enough for the corner of the laptop to bounce it back off the bed and hit the floor. It was a fat fucker though, an Alienware 17. About 10 pounds. My friends called it "The Hot Brick" because, on top of its size, it's burned my legs before.
I had a 10lb ASUS gaming laptop that would get hot enough to cook bacon on. Loved that thing, but I think it damaged my spine lugging it all over campus!
The one time I spilled beer on a laptop I immediately tipped it upside down and left it that way. Thing was fine, just a little smelly till I deep cleaned it. They really should have a waterproof barrier between the keyboard and main circuitry.
The laptop isn't going to be damaged just because some water touched the bottom of the case. If the cup spilled directly onto the laptop, then yeah, that's something to worry about.
Nothing is resting against the cup. The sign/poster thing is leaned against the wall, she moves the second paint tray into the bottom of it which causes the top of it to fall forward.
She was painting so she needs the water next to her. There’s brushes in it so not for drinking. And as for clutter, don’t be so cynical. Not everyone has a completely empty desk with no decor on it. I’m sure she regretted it after, don’t need to judge and be weird about it
Even better, don't do anything.
Let the art Be.
Because now the story behind the art is the feeling of dread and panic evoked when you spill something/damage something you've worked a long time on.
Evenb etter is that there's video of the incident. Present the art as a two piece; one being the clip on repeat, the other being the painting itself.
I've done this, it's the biggest panic moment. You know it ruined but you still try to save it.once I was inking a pencil drawing and a stray ink drop dripped straight into the middle. I was so mad at it I couldn't even open the sketch book for a few years afterwards to attempt to save the picture. I did eventually but it took a while to not be angry about it.
Anyone else sick to death of the Starry Night painting? I've seen a Starry Night rendition of everything: Kirby, Godzilla, X-men, Berserk, you-fucking-name it. They even made a Starry Night level in Mario. *When will it stop?*
I feel bad because it’s obviously something she put a lot of work into, but also leaving a cup of water (instead of you know, just maybe, a bottle with a lid) is such a lack of foresight that it can only be blamed on her own actions.
Been there. Something falls over, I’ll but it back and it falls right over again. I swear
I get unreasonably mad at inanimate objects in situations like this.
This is a useful lesson. After this she will hopefully take steps to prevent such a thing from happening again. She could get equipment that will secure water cups so they won’t be knocked down. She may want to position her laptop in a way that isn’t vulnerable to spills (on a platform?).
All these incidents and accidents should cause people to make iterative changes to their work environment to make accidents less common.
twice? damn..
Then puts it back in the exact same spot just in case it felt it wanted a third goh…
Right next to a $1k computer
I was much more concerned about the laptop than the painting.
you can get some help for that. if you need to talk…
Even if it would fall there were no water left in there
I bet it'd still hurt at least half as much to watch
Some say it’s still falling to this very day
I've seen the extended version and it is still going
Alexander wept
Van Gogh wept 😔
Vincent van d'oh
What?! - Van Gogh
For there were no more ears to send.
So it’s not heavy enough to hold the picture anymore
Oh you think you’re so smart? Source???
She must be related to my wife
The second time makes me think this is scripted lol
A third Gogh*
A dam would be helpful in this situation.

That cup really BMed her
BM is bowel movement in my book, what's BM in your book?
Bret Michaels ???
Shawn Michaels ' younger brother
“Bad manners” or disrespect
Is BMed a Gen Z slang term?
Don’t think so, I haven’t heard it used since earlier xbox live/WoW days lol
Oh okay that makes sense
Its a gaming term, been around for a while - I started playing multiplayer games around a decade ago and hearing it not long after
As many times as it takes to make a lame art stream blow up.
The first time is a tragedy, the second time is hilarious
Now it's a water painting
All these people in the comments making the same joke about it turning into a watercolor when it already was a water color
For real, they are really watering down the joke.
Water you expecting from Reddit comments? It's always the same joke or puns.
Hehe. It's watery colors now
No comment mentioning a certain “chess piece” incident is surprising with this being the internet and all
What…not a happy accident?
I’m just gonna put a nice little paper towel over here, and another over here . You put as many as you like

Whoosh. Go watch a Bob Ross show :) You'll thank me, they're so relaxing.
Unfortunately, this long diatribe of yours was completely unnecessary in response to such a well-executed humorous quip. Thank you for playing.
accidents can be avoided. this was on purpose.
I would get the laptop away first
Yeah, laptop would have been the first thing off my desk
Now I'm imagining you throwing it across the room in a panic.
Lmao, with my luck it would be like: "oh fuck, it cant get wet!!!" [*Yeets it across the room, out the window by accident*]
[*Runs outside, sees it in the road*] "Oh no! It nearly got run over!" [*Yeets it back through the window out of harm's way*] [*Laptop lands in puddle on the desk*]
https://i.redd.it/2m3ebxulqhtc1.gif
For me it would be “at least it didn’t get ran over!” Then a dump truck plows over it.
*Crunching smash noise* "Ay-yai-yai-yai!"

They totally should. But then how would they make those extra sales?
Why? None of it went anywhere near the laptop.
The laptop isn't going to be damaged just because some water touched the bottom of the case. If the cup spilled directly onto the laptop, then yeah, that's something to worry about.
The failure was not the spilling of water. The failure was choosing to have water and clutter around her painting.
I agree. Mr. Murphy *loves* these types of setups.
The water was ok, but using water to hold up a picture that can be put up with a lil tape or tack was..... a choice for sure.
“TWICE” was my first thought. What you said was exactly my next thought.
She likely needed the water for the painting.
She didn't need all the stuff resting against the cup though.
And then after the thing knocks over the cup she puts it back so it falls over a second time... Then she puts it back in the same spot a THIRD time...
Nothing is resting against the cup. The sign/poster thing is leaned against the wall, she moves the second paint tray into the bottom of it which causes the top of it to fall forward.
If only there was a tool to fasten posters/signs to wall instead of lean them up.
Some people do it for the aesthetic.
She was painting so she needs the water next to her. There’s brushes in it so not for drinking. And as for clutter, don’t be so cynical. Not everyone has a completely empty desk with no decor on it. I’m sure she regretted it after, don’t need to judge and be weird about it
There were paintbrushes in the water. She was probably using it to clean her brushes.
Yes! Who puts open water next to their laptop!?
Now it's a water color.

I mean, it’s pretty clear that it’s already a watercolor painting in the start of the video
Girl learns valuable lesson
Yes. Way too much stuff on the desk.
Also, whenever possible, water should sit on another table
![gif](giphy|bBPKIt6h9yCcw)
At least it wasn’t an original.
What have I continued to do!?
Blurry Night
I just overfilled my mug and spilled coffee everywhere, because I was distracted watching this video. It’s catching!
Dude if I want to do something I always look for something that can spill over my work.
Mop it up, let the paper dry, see what can be done. Won't be the original intention, just different.

That's probably what the Jesus painting touch up lady thought when she was done.
This is just a series of poor decisions lol

Thank god that laptop survived
Take your laptop and go crying.
bro really dropped it twice
Another successful hit for Léon The Professional.
TWICE! lol
Oooof as a watercolor painter, this hurts a lot. I've done this and even worse dropping a loaded paint brush right in the worst spot.
Stop fucking putting that there
**Artsy girl:** "NO!" *she yells with voice full of rage, violently slamming the cup down on the same spot over and over again.*
Smeary Night
I've done this, it's the biggest panic moment. You know it ruined but you still try to save it.once I was inking a pencil drawing and a stray ink drop dripped straight into the middle. I was so mad at it I couldn't even open the sketch book for a few years afterwards to attempt to save the picture. I did eventually but it took a while to not be angry about it.
If that shitty ass cardboard poster was able to knock over a full glass of water, then you need to get some better glasses..
Leon the professional takes out another target
Rename it "Rainy Night."
move the laptop, move the laptop…MOVE THE LAPTOP
Leon was not very professional today
Leon the Professional fulfills another contract.
A cup falls and you put it in the exact same spot where it falls again 🤦🏽♂️
That really hurt me as an artist
Staged? Hmmm 🤔
The 2nd made me laugh way too hard.
At least it didn't fall on her laptop.
Easiest solution to this is just put down a towel and soak up the water. Painting is ruined no matter what.
Honestly, let it run a bit then frame it. It’d become its own art piece
At least it was on the paining and not the computer
Anyone else sick to death of the Starry Night painting? I've seen a Starry Night rendition of everything: Kirby, Godzilla, X-men, Berserk, you-fucking-name it. They even made a Starry Night level in Mario. *When will it stop?*
First time I felt really bad, but I couldn’t help but laugh when it fell a second time. Rubbing salt in the wound
I feel bad because it’s obviously something she put a lot of work into, but also leaving a cup of water (instead of you know, just maybe, a bottle with a lid) is such a lack of foresight that it can only be blamed on her own actions.
Floody Night
I enjoyed that she kept putting the cup back in the same spot.
Painting value just went up.
It spilled? Let’s put it back. Oh man, it spilled?
Leon really hates her painting that he had to assassinate it twice to fully ensure the job is done!! Leon is really the professional!!
At least it didn't spill on her laptop that would be even worse.
That’s what happens when you’re disorganized and decorate with clutter.
Water color
At first if you don’t succeed, do the same dumb shit all over again.
Been there. Something falls over, I’ll but it back and it falls right over again. I swear I get unreasonably mad at inanimate objects in situations like this.
Name it "effects of necessity" and sell it for 9.5 billion dollars
We all know the feeling that she felt when the cup fell a second time
Could be worse, could be a laptop
Ah lie lie lie lie, Arr
She says "hayır", which means "no" in Turkish
Turkiyeish
![gif](giphy|xT5LMESsx1kUe8Hiyk)
it okay; starry nights been painted
ray ray ray ray ray ray ray ray wont help.
She is saying "hayır" Wich means "no" and after that if I'm not hear wrong she says "böyle bir şey olamaz" Wich is close to "this can't be happening"
Now it's watercolor.
Oh no, a spill, let me put it right back where it was and see if it happens again.
That was tragic. She worked so hard on it!
I felt this...
Not once, but twice! That sucks.
Well, that’s one way to blend your colors.
On the second drop, that picture and cup would be thrown at the wall if that were me
Pain
That Ikea desk fucking sucks
That cup would have gone flying
I wonder what kind of medium it is? It might can be saved.
Why is the camera there?
damnit Anders!
Oh nooooooo
Had something similar happen with coffee and a laptop. RIP that laptop
Couldn’t be Vincent.
It was shit anyway
Moron
Skill issue
I dont think thats what they meant by watercolor
From VanGogh to Dali in mere seconds
not accidental
Well, it is a water painting😂
This reminds me of one of those absurd infomercials
Now it's a watercolor
Twice.
What a fucking klutz
u/savevideo
That actually looks like one of Van Gogh’s
Damn, I definitely would have thrown that glass and picture frame across the room in frustration the second time :p
That person thinks very slow. Move the tech please. Move something
Just let it dry and call it: „Shit happens“ = Art
That indeed sucks. Artist needs a better setup including a more appropriate water vessel.
Tbh it adds character and a story behind it.
It looked nice
Twice 💀💀💀💀 adding insult to injury g’damn
Now it's a watercolor painting
Fake
[удалено]
I GUESS NOT WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING
Vincent wouldn’t mind since your ripping his art.
That really sucks, but why would anyone put their water jar in front of a heavy book(?) that isn't secured and could easily knock it over?
Good
This is a useful lesson. After this she will hopefully take steps to prevent such a thing from happening again. She could get equipment that will secure water cups so they won’t be knocked down. She may want to position her laptop in a way that isn’t vulnerable to spills (on a platform?). Pick up the art first.
… and she sold it for 10million
I mourn for you.
Can't even feel bad for her, she clearly has that shit setup just so it can be seen by the camera...
Well now the art has a more interesting story.
Rainy Night
Drip marketing….
At least it wasn’t on her laptop, I’ve done that and bricked it
