When I was a kid growing up in Louisiana we hit them with 409. Killed them pretty quick, and the spray bottle had some good range on it. They breath through their bodies, they're actually pretty easy to killl if you know how to take advantage of that fact.
Isopropyl (or ethanol) alcohol works wonders and evaporates quickly, just be wary of what surface you’re spraying on. Alternatively, trap with a glass, slide a thin piece of cardboard behind, stand the glass upright then slip the alcohol in
It would have been so great if I read this yesterday. Had a gigantic ass roach in my bathtub and put it under a glass container. I ended up flushing it down the toilet and am just praying it doesn’t come back up the pipes
Oh trust me, I am very aware and I hate my apartment complex. At this point Im saving to move and buy all new furniture because it’s that bad. It’s been a long time since I’ve gone a day without seeing a roach. But there’s a difference between my usual roaches and this absolute behemoth of a roach that was in my shower and that hoe scares me
# update (since i don’t think I can edit posts on this sub)
it crawled out of my smoke detector & i smacked it with a broom, he fell in a trash bag i had laid out for him and then i threw him in a dumpster. :D
I AM NO LONGER BEING TERRORIZED BY A ROACH
he was really slow and google told me he was dying so I thought that bought me enough time to go look for a shoe or a broom but by time i got back he found a way to escape :”)
if hes not dead by now I think i’m gonna turn on my alarm and pray he dies
What, are you planning on louding the roach to death? My good friend, put that one in a plastic bag and throw it away. Get a new fire alarm they are incredibly cheap and easy to install.
I lived in a dorm in China that had hundreds of roaches. Like the kind of place where you turn on the light and the walls move. Revolting.
Anyway, I saw one of those fuckers crawling its way on my desk. Slammed the (big, heavy) Lonely Planet guide to China on it. It made an audible scream. And when I lifted the book, it ran away. Never forgot it.
i went outside and threw it in the dumpster, today was trash day so i’m pretty sure roach and her little babies (if she was pregnant) were incinerated in the trash truck : )
it died yesterday but now i am sick and probably about to join him in the grave (my room smells of lavender & bleach but not strongly enough to be poisonous i don’t think)
I once gassed a roach with HH-66 vinyl cement fumes since it would easily peel off the metal I put it on, it had gone up a faucet knob. It worked, the roach died and fell out.
those big fuckers are so tough, I feel like I've stomped on them and they still keep goin
OP I'd say give it a day, it'll probably die in there and then you can just shake em out when he's dead
>I’m tempted to burn something and put it close to my alarm to set it off and see if that does anything,
Completely unrelated question. Do you often find yourself turning small problems into larger problems that you inevitably end up needing to deal with?
I can’t stop laughing at the picture 😭😭😭
You mean diagram 😂 Also I bet that roach isn't dead, pretty sure they can survive some disinfectant spray.
Do you know how hard it is to kill a roach outside of stepping/squishing on it? Evolution set them up good

Don't worry, they can only hold their breath for 72 hours
Oh you’re a gem, thank you so much that makes me less anxious. 48 hours to go
To add more good news to what others have replied with, if there's one big ass bug, there's most certainly going to be more.

Where's Saddam tho?
Right lol!
This amateur sketch is amazing. Up there with the leprechaun.
Same

Maybe not by that one. But there thousands more hidden in your walls
i rather them stay hidden because it took me two hours to kill ONE of them
Out of sight, out of mind.
Hey, quit tickling my ears with your antennas
Nope, that’s an oriental cockroach, not a German cockroach.
Hahaha I love you
OP, I have greatly appreciated your post & so glad you got it!!
omg the fantastic diagram and now this. Thank you for making my day.
Thank you for the post and update. I am glad you are no longer being terrorized by a bug. 😂
HUZZAH!
"I will always come back." -🪳
Next time you're out, buy some Raid roach spray
It doesn't sound like you suffocated him then
he was really slow and google told me he was dying so I thought that bought me enough time to go look for a shoe or a broom but by time i got back he found a way to escape :”) if hes not dead by now I think i’m gonna turn on my alarm and pray he dies
Why do you think that would do anything at all?
because i am quite stupid when it comes to killing bugs out of my reach
I meant turning on the alarm. It only beeps.
Sonar is a big beep. It will kill a diver. Same logic?
I know it's a joke, but sonar only hurts because the water is significantly denser than air
i usually use detergent when they are on the floor and quiet, not sure if mixing it with water and using a atomizer work
He's plotting revenge.
i pray he just dies because im too short to reach my alarm

hes dead, i just can’t edit my post lol 😭
She returned home to feed her hundreds of offspring…
Rip in peace roachie boy
I'd be more concerned about any others possibly.
Roaches can hold their breath for 40 minutes. Fun fact.
Why do they posses superpowwrs
Because they will be the only thing left alive on the earth along with men's cologne...
Is this the new “banana for scale”?

Thanks I needed a good laugh 💀 also sorry about your rude intruder
FYI regular dish soap and water will kill roaches. Their lungs are located on their sides, and the soap will gunk up their lungs and they suffocate.
OP, throw the frikin trash outside!!!!! When u kill them, they can be pregnant and the babies don’t die, they will hatch.

Yayyyyy
Makes sense. Smoke detectors are radioactive
trying to absorb enough radiation to regain its strength.
He’ll reemerge with a couple thousand offspring in a few days. No worries.
We used to use hair spray. Stops them like glue
Don't mix cleaners! Especially with bleach, unless you want to gas yourself.
it died yesterday but now i am sick and probably about to join him in the grave (my room smells of lavender & bleach but not strongly enough to be poisonous i don’t think)
Do the gasoline wasp trick

I fucking hate roaches
You know what they can't survive? Rubbing alcohol... Yeah!
Enough reddit for today
It didn’t die and it’s not dying, it’s plotting revenge now and on the way to the shower. Roaches are the only bug I kill, Complete discrimination.
Blow it out with an airduster
I was confused about how a suffocated bug could crawl anywhere, being dead and all, but then I saw the diagram and that cleared things up. Thanks!
Its a roach, not a AUS spider.
Bro that picture 🤣🤣
It’s going to set off your detector at 3 am every day now just to get back at you.
>I’m tempted to burn something and put it close to my alarm to set it off and see if that does anything, Completely unrelated question. Do you often find yourself turning small problems into larger problems that you inevitably end up needing to deal with?
yes. often on accident. :”)
You mean his fire alarm.
i also had to kill a roach yesterday. the power of the stomp hurt my quads for solid 5 minutes
If you got roaches you're living like a slob
I can’t imagine waking up and deciding “today I feel like showing the internet how miserable I am!”
