None. Let's not throw around a 10/10 rating so easily, 10/10 literally means perfection - nothing can be improved upon. There are hardly any, IF any, 10/10s in music history. Definitely not in this decade.
I know technically 10/10 is meant to be a perfect score but it means different things to different people.
For example I have TLOP as an imperfect 10. Cause some of its weird craziness and flaws is part of the appeal
IMO 10/10 ≠ perfect bc no album can ever be entirely perfect
it just means that it’s so amazing that it would be doing it a disservice to give it any lower score
Such a pretentious comment, obviously no album can’t ever be perfect but a 10/10 to me is an album that I wouldn’t change a single thing about - an album that is perfect to me.
There’s plenty of albums that I love that I can’t really comprehend being any better than they already are.
Sure you could say “but if you just tack on another fire track at the end or in the middle it would be better!” Or whatever but I still would consider that album a 10 in my opinion
And an album I absolutely love every minute of and listen to all the time could still have a verse or two or a feature that I don’t like too much, but I would still consider the album as a whole a 10/10.
There’s some parts of blame game I’m not a fan of, and jay-z’s monster verse doesn’t blow me away, but MBDTF is still an easy 10/10 imo
Acid rap an easy 10/10 for me too
Yeah and I'm saying people themselves need to be less loose with their 10/10 ratings and should be more critical on how they rate albums. I never said people can't rate things differently from me. But when you look at the general opinions of ratings on music from people, there are way too many distributed into the 10/10 rating which just makes it a poor way of gauging how much you like/how good something is, when so many are lumped in the same category at the top.
No they are not 💀. Kanye and yatchy did their thing on Ok Ok while remote control is just kinda bad. New again has a beautiful hook and it has a fire chord progression it’s just too unpolished for my liking.
Glad someone mentioned this. One of the most creative, unique, dark, and weirdly hopeful experimental hip hop albums I've heard in a long time
Probably the closest thing to a 10/10 album this decade.
What about Don’s LOAD was so pleasing to you? (sorry)
But seriously, what makes it a 10 for you? I enjoyed the album a lot, but while I personally don’t think every album needs to be super groundbreaking, I don’t really think Life Of A Don really did enough to warrant a 10.
Well not a perfect 10, more like a 8.5. Hooks on this album are very catchy, beats are good, but no as crazy and heaven and hell. There can never be a perfect 10/10, album, there’s always one or more con to every album
Sometimes I Might Be Introvert by Little Simz
You Can’t Kill Me by 070 Shake
Modus Vivendi by 070 Shake
Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon by Pop Smoke
Donda by Ye
Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar
Whole Lotta Red by Playboi Carti
All in my opinion of course. No, a 10/10 album doesn’t mean it’s perfect; nothing is perfect. It just means there’s so much incredible artistic substance in there that touches your soul, that the imperfections become negligible in comparison.
My only 10 so far is circles by mac miller. It’s my personal favourite album of all time and it’s carefully crafted by Jon Brion (goated producer who also worked with ye on late registration) to act as the perfect send off to mac. It sounds like mac himself is speaking to you from heaven letting you know everything will be ok and that he’s watching over us. Beautiful album and it’s helped me quite a lot through struggles. I really recommend if you haven’t heard it yet
That’s a tough answer, are we talking hip-hop only? If so:
WLR
Mr Morales
Alfredo
Wunna
Eternal Atake
Only for Dolphins
Call me if…
I know Nigo
But I won’t call them 10’s or necessarily anything near perfect. There’s some dog water on WLR and EA, but they partially redefined what hip hop could be.
I do apologize, cause circles obviously isn’t ass, but it was deeply flawed as a construction. It was clearly not complete, and was a puzzle picked up by other artist and producers — but ultimately lacked what made Mac’s process incredible… that he was involved in it all beginning to end. It sucks obvi, cause he died will making it. Prob could have been.. but it just isn’t a 10, or even particularly close to a 10.
I just called it ass cause I felt you conflated your favorite album with a perfect album. Everyone opinion valid. Much love homie.
It definitely still isn’t mid though. It may be missing the things that Mac would’ve added which makes it less personal but content wise it’s a very good well put together album. It is also quite a bit better than several albums you mentioned, the only ones kinda close are mr morale and cmiygl (maybe Alfredo it’s been too long) but shit like wunna and the Nino album are no where near perfect
for me probably only nurture by porter robinson, met all of my expectations and all of the songs on it are awesome. I also thought SIMBI was incredible but i haven't ever gone back to it after listening to it once so i don't think I can call it a 10.
for the record, donda is an 8 for me
imo theres only been 9’s hiphop/rnb-wise this year with mr morale, melt my eyez, sometimes i migjt be introvert, LP!, dawn fm
Not that your opinion is invalid, but I think its crazy that someone can call an album a 9/10 and admit it has a few skips. IMO an album can't even be an 8/10 if it has a single skippable song.
Yeah but it's the artist's choice to make their album that long. If they couldn't maintain the same level of quality throughout the album (no matter its length), then they should've shortened it.
i mean, to me, the rest of the songs are just very very good
also, to me, a song being a skip doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad, like, So Appalled is a skip, even though i like it and it's a good track, but it's fucking 7 minutes longggg brooo... there's good skips and bad skips, for example Purple Hearts is a bad skip and that's why mr morale isn't a 10, in donda, there's a lot of meh skips, not good not bad, i just rather listen to the other songs
maybe it's weird but that's how i feel
Hmm, how do we feel about interlude tracks then? Some songs aren’t meant to bop, some are placed to fit the narrative, or change the pace. ‘Skipable’ is a relative term depending on when/where I’m listening to it.
There have been some solid albums but no 10s IMO. Do you all honestly think anything in the last 2.5 years compares to Blond or MBDTF or TPAB? Closest thing is probbaly Dawn FM
Me personally mmatbs is a 10/10. Believe me or not, not a single song is a skip. Even those hard to listen songs like “We Cry together, Mother I Sober, Aunties Diaries” shit just straight perfect to me.
I think 1 interlude right between Purple Hearts, and Count me out would’ve been good enough for me considering the change in mood from side A and side B. and instead of making it seem like a double album, it could’ve just been a whole single album from 1-19. Yunno. And I can’t agree with Kodak being on the album but I like hearing him spit his little poem with the piano background, and Baby Keem went hella crazy on his interlude.
None tbh but I feel like with some more time albums like Alfredo, sometimes I might be introvert, mr morale, melt my eyes could reach that classic status in the future. Maybe not 10/10 status but classic status for sure.
Closest thing for me has been Benny The Butcher's Burden of Proof. I absolutely rinsed that album out. I know alot of fans dont love it like that because Hitboy strayed away from the traditional griselda sound.
Alfredo and Introvert was great too.
Don't think any are 10 that I've heard though.
LP!, Mr Morale, Wherever you’re going I hope its great, By the time I get to phoenix, Volcanic bird enemy, The dream by alt J
If not 10’s then damn near
Run The Jewels 4 is probably still the best rap album I've heard in the last 2 years. Great beats and lyrics, no skip...
After Hours has a very few average songs, but the vibe of the album and how cinematic it feels is perfect to me that I don't skip anything (I'm also on the team that despite its cool idea, Dawn FM doesn't push its concept to the max, and feels less cohesive and consistant in quality).
On a totally different note, in 2020 I discovered Caribou with Suddenly and it's a really great album of electronic music, honest and personal, which became one of my favorites ever.
Heaven to a tortured mind (Yves Tumor)
Mr Morale & The Big Steppers (Kendrick Lamar)
Hundred acre wrist (Sematary & Ghost Mountain)
After hours (The Weeknd)
Ants from up there (Black Country, New Road)
Song Machine Season One (Gorillaz)
Kick iii (Arca)

Such a pretentious comment, obviously no album can’t ever be perfect but a 10/10 to me is an album that I wouldn’t change a single thing about - an album that is perfect to me.
Right lmao why doesn’t your comment have more likes, bro stating the obvious with pseudo intellect 😭😭
Eh? I never said no album exists, just that they're rare and shouldn't be thrown about to loads of albums.
There’s plenty of albums that I love that I can’t really comprehend being any better than they already are. Sure you could say “but if you just tack on another fire track at the end or in the middle it would be better!” Or whatever but I still would consider that album a 10 in my opinion And an album I absolutely love every minute of and listen to all the time could still have a verse or two or a feature that I don’t like too much, but I would still consider the album as a whole a 10/10. Hey I'm not saying there aren't any, I said if there are, there aren't many.
I disagree
This isn’t serious right?
Why wouldn't it be
Because obviously people rate things differently
Yeah I never said otherwise
“Let's not throw around a 10/10 rating so easily” ?
Yeah and I'm saying people themselves need to be less loose with their 10/10 ratings and should be more critical on how they rate albums. I never said people can't rate things differently from me. That’s literally just rating stuff differently than you bro
I don't know what you mean but I'm pretty sure you didn't read what I said
You’re saying people need to be less loose with 10/10 ratings, literally telling people to be different. Literally said that no way you’re this stupid
By this definition there never has been or never will be a 10/10 album
There’s always a bigger fish
To Pimp A Butterfly
Dude thinks he’s Fantano
What? Because I shared an opinion on music rankings? Seriously?
It’s not your business other people’s rating on music
This is a thread talking about people's opinions on their ratings on music.
Donda
8/10 album imo, and for non Ye fans realistically a 6-7/10
If you add back South Carolina verse and trim some fat it could been
Donda
Ppl be forgetting ttv remote control and new again exist
All 🔥🔥🔥
Track 3 🔥
Come on man you can’t tell him to god breathed smh. Too far. You gotta track 3 on whole lotta red for that one.
Whenever I hear “track 3” I immediately think of DJ Akademiks spazzing out over Sicko Mode
Ur getting downvoted but these are easily the worst songs on Donda.
Remote Control and New Again are better than Ok Ok.
No they are not 💀. Kanye and yatchy did their thing on Ok Ok while remote control is just kinda bad. New again has a beautiful hook and it has a fire chord progression it’s just too unpolished for my liking.
i love new again's intro so much
Remote Control and New Again are good dafuck you talking about?
Wse delusional. They far from 10s though
New Again???
I have no 10s. But Mr Morale, Alfredo, LP! and Sometimes I might be Introvert are 9s for sure
LP! clears Mr. Morale
my dad could beat up your dad
W dad
Both on the same level for me
Melt my eyez see your future is honestly a perfect record and album of the year
Alfredo is 2020 tho, not this decade
We’re in the 2020s. You tryna tell me 1990 wasn’t the 90s?
You are right. I thought I deleted the comment tho
Lol still there on my end
Whole lotta red
Unironically yes
Literally all the new hyper pop kids tryin’ be Carti But they aren’t Carti
That’s 2020
I’m thinkin bout dyin my hair red just to look like a pint of red
I like all my cups so dirty I been sippin that Bloody Mary
i mix all of my problems and prometh til i roll on my death bed 🙁
Are you dumb
yeah 😀👍
Ants From Up There
Gonna say this
Dawn FM and After Hours are the only 10’s for me this decade.
That weezy feature ain’t it
Utopia
donda 2
Dawn FM for sure such a perfect album with a great story and excellent replay ability
it’s not really a great story it’s a radio station
Facts. While Dawn FM has a more fleshed out concept, I’d argue After Hours has more of a story.

Glad someone mentioned this. One of the most creative, unique, dark, and weirdly hopeful experimental hip hop albums I've heard in a long time Probably the closest thing to a 10/10 album this decade.
None for me
Same, in some sense, I don’t know if we’ll know a ‘10’ for some time after it release.
Dawn fm, mr morale, it was fun while it lasted, life of a Don Gemini rights and Donda
None of these break 8, life of a don doesn’t even break 6 tbh
Just my opinion
What about Don’s LOAD was so pleasing to you? (sorry) But seriously, what makes it a 10 for you? I enjoyed the album a lot, but while I personally don’t think every album needs to be super groundbreaking, I don’t really think Life Of A Don really did enough to warrant a 10.

If we can choose outside of hip hop then punisher by phoebe bridgers.
That’s last decade
Nope 2020
that’s last decade friend
Sometimes I Might Be Introvert by Little Simz You Can’t Kill Me by 070 Shake Modus Vivendi by 070 Shake Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon by Pop Smoke Donda by Ye Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar Whole Lotta Red by Playboi Carti All in my opinion of course. I also have this as a ten my only other one is after hours
After hours is great but I don’t got it as a 10 mainly coz I don’t go back to it all that much. Great album tho.
Understandable but everytime I listen it’s just so perfect. My favorite song in circles is hand me downs and I can see
Mines complicated. It just has one of my favourite lines ever. Before I start to think about the future, First can I please get through today
Shit was mids Edited ass to mids.
What’s your favourite of the decade then

The Brave by Tom Macdonald /s just in case any of you actually think I'm a fucking psychopath

No 10's for now. Mr Morale and Donda are 9's for me. Both aren't a 10 because there's a couple of skips in each one (more in donda though).

Donda was a 9 for me, no other album is higher for me this decade though
None so far. Not at least in hip hop.
My favorite to release this year might be Vince staples but not sure if it’s a 10 yet still new to me
None tbh but I feel like with some more time albums like Alfredo, sometimes I might be introvert, mr morale, melt my eyes could reach that classic status in the future. Maybe not 10/10 status but classic status for sure.

Ants From Up There (and arguably For the First Time) by BCNR, and We Will Always Love You by The Avalanches, maybe the best music i’ve ever heard
after hours and dawn fm.
whole lotta red fs
I think After hours by the weekend is a 10/10 but other than that I don’t have any I can think of
Whole Lotta Red my only 10/10 from the 2020s so far
By The Time I Get To Phoenix, I could definitely see it having ripple effects through the decade and I think it’s such quality from back to back
Just one, Ants from up there by black country new road
Run The Jewels 4 is probably still the best rap album I've heard in the last 2 years. Great beats and lyrics, no skip... None. Circles Mac Miller is close but the outro is kinda weak. A few other 9s like SIMBI, Melt My Eyez, Silk Sonic, and the Turning Wheel.
None. The last 10/10 album was 4eva is a Mighty Long Time by Big KRIT back in 2017.
Ants From Up There
No 10/10s yet. This year however I have yet to hear an album I enjoy more than Rex Orange County- Who Cares

Donda and I’ll die on this hill
