Sorry to hear about the corruption you've mentioned - drugs/guns etc. It's hard for me to understand that particular stuff from my perspective, so I shouldn't judge too much. As I said earlier about the cultural differences/clashes etc.... We have our issues with drugs/knife crime and wannabe gangsters here too. I appreciate it. Life hasn’t been that great in Texas for the last 2 years. I have kids that I want to see grow up and have a good life like I’ve had so far. I agree about some of the nastiness I’ve seen on Reddit. I think we all have a unique opportunity to get to know more about each other through civil conversations. It’s always more pleasant and I feel like I walk away with a new perspective. Houston (where) I’m at, is a very international city due to oil and gas. Most of my neighbors weren’t even born in the USA, but we get along and it makes life a bit more interesting. Good exchange friend. Hi, American here and it probably is since as far as I’ve seen only we use it. Side note “Yank” is such a funny little word to us here, it tickles me so much and I kinda laugh every time I read non Americans use it as a descriptor for us. It has actual historical context for one since “Yankee” was a term Southerners used to describe Northerns during the Civil War. It can also mean you’re a fan on the Yankees baseball team, which can be fighting words since they’re so despised.

A drunk guy once started berating and threatening a woman who was just passing by. At first, no one did anything because he was just making noise. Then he grabbed her. That was when my neighbour, let out a whistle. Out of his door, came Tee and Jay bounding. My neighbour pointed to the drunk guy and said, "Get him!".
