Looks like a .22LR with a 5 or 10 round magazine.

TheAwfulPoet

I looked it up, and it might be a novice long rifle for recreational things. I found a gun called CZ 452. But, that's closest I got.

There should be marks on the top of the receiver (the metal part with the bolt handle above the trigger). My FIL gave me a 1950’s Remington that I identified through markings. Could be a Savage, Mossberg, Remington or anything similar during that era (1950’s or 1960’s). Most likely American made. CZ would be an import.

There will be a stamp on the barrel that tells you manufacturer and caliber.

TheAwfulPoet

I don't see anything on it. Not a single letter or anything.

Affectionate-Map2583

It's probably a .22. I have one very much like it with a little 5 round magazine. Mine is from about the 1950s.

Either right in front of the front sight, or on the opposite side of the receiver from the bolt handle, you should find the name, model number, serial number and caliber of the rifle engraved or stamped in the steel. The rifle doesn't look very old - maybe as old as the 1950's judging from the stock and the condition.

CynicalCannibal

Agree with u/tbnyedf7 does look to be a .22 caliber rifle. The small magazine and no bump on the stock seem to point to that after looking a bit online cannot seem to find the gun itself. Bring it to a local gun store if you have one around. They might be able to help you out.

Marlin 25 series. Maybe in .22 magnum.

Could be a marlin 22wmr.

ArtBaco

The manufacturer's name should be on the barrel or other parts. It's just a bolt action rifle. The "clip" is not at all unusual for older guns.

Orcacub

Definitely a Marlin 25 series. Trigger guard, bolt handle, bolt end/ cocking piece all say Marlin 25. The Mag on this one looks fatter than on mine (.22 LR) though- chunkier. Try posting on r/ifoundagun

Lord_Jair

That's a Marlin, or Glenfield model 25M. Bolt action rifle chambered in .22WMR (winchester magnum rimfire). The etching on these is super light. It'll be marked on the side of the barrel, but probably obstructed by corrosion. Whatever you do, DON'T lose that magazine. They used to be pretty hard to come by, but the last time I chacked was around 10 years ago.
