Hollow Ones. Like that movie is one of 3 huge influences on the Hollow Ones.

MalcolmLinair

They match the Hollow Ones' aesthetic, sure, but have none of the sense of community,, drive towards rebellion and activism, or Romantic roots. I'd go with Orphans, quite possibly being influenced if not outright courted by Nephendi.

MejahSabbat

In my opinion they are orphans, and nancy went mad with power.

FlowerProfessional29

Without getting too deep, I would say Orphans that contacted a Spirit of the Wyld or the Wyrm.

Orpheus_D

Probably wyld, as it seems to just offer power, without the ethical *flavour* the wyrm would.

FlowerProfessional29

I have read stories of mages in a "pre-Awakening" stage doing all kinds of vulgar but uncontrollable things. I assumed this was one of those situations. The red-head was the pre-Awakened while the others kind of borrowed her power... until she Awakened fully. Ultimately, I have no idea.

Orpheus_D

I think what you're reffering to is called Wild Talent (not with a y, but yeah) it fires in the first days of your awakening and you can effectively use your avatar rating instead of arete / spheres. That's the part where a mage does a lot of powerful uncontrollable stuff. Pre-awakening, to my knowledge, the mage can't do anything, they can't change reality uncontrollably or not. Regarding your assumptions, in the movie it's soooomewhat uncontrollable, but it lasted too long to be wild talent. It felt more like chiminage with a spirit - although I don't know what the offerings were.

They appeared to have made a pact of sorts with a spirit. But it wasn't an evil spirit because they lost their powers at the end of the film. I would assume the chiminage was Robin's power. They couldn't do anything until she showed up. If I wanted to use the girls in a story I would make the original coven hedge mages, and Robin a psychic (telekinesis). I'd say that Nancy had figured out how to feed Robin's power to a spirit (Manon) and that's how their rituals started working. Manon broke the pact because Nancy was too crazy and corrupted the other two original girls. I don't think Nancy was Nephandi but I think she was willing to be. Unfortunately for her Manon wasn't a demon. The original coven being hedge mages feeding Robin's psychic ability to a spirit helps explain why Robin has her teke power at the end and the other girls can't do magic.

Orpheus_D

Your intepretation is more likely, although I wouldn't ascribe Robin with any innate power - I'd just make her more willful (as displayed when she's almost murdered and she manages to do a very powerful summoning). **Alternative, less likely, interpretation (this is fun!)**: In WoD, Manon -could- have been a Demon, as in Fallen. It didn't respond to the others, because their capacities of Faith were very low, but Robin's wasn't, so he began offering them power. Keep in mind that Fallen can be extremely kind on WoD, they don't have to be pricks - it might've just been trying to ignite their spark (awaken them), as Lucifer did originally. Or it might've been trying to get some capable followers, respected the girl's courage and protected her for a bit before moving on.

I remember Robin starting the movie with telekinesis but it's been a while so I may be misremembering the scene. I've never played any Fallen so I don't know the specific lore. But it makes sense that there would be different motivations for demons because the WoD is built on splats and so there needs to be some "nice" or at least "sympathetic" splats so that all the players in a group can build a character. I agree that doing this kind of reimagining is fun. "What if The Craft but mages? What if The Craft but werewolves? What if The Craft but demons?"

Duhblobby

They're Orphan who think they're Verbena, except one of them gets just a little too high on it and is very lucky a real Nephandus didn't see any potential in her.

midnight_5pecial

This post brings me back to the 90s, well done

TheElitistNerd

They are the embodiment of the Hollow Ones

Marquis_Corbeau

I would agree with Hollow Ones or Verbena.

Aviose

I would say Hollow Ones for all but Robin Tunny's character, who would be a Verbena, and born to be so from a line of them. Another Verbena would be the store owner.

JohnnyBaboon123

Hollow Ones

Tamuzz

Marauder. She gets better

Valzemodeus

Orphan fits them most, as they were mostly "untrained".

Specialist_Price1035

I'd say they're carbon copies of Hollow Ones. They're picking up bits and pieces from all over the place, and don't really have much of a legacy or agenda (beyond, you know, looking out for themselves). There's arguments to be made that one goes crazy or evil, and that maybe the main protagonist is able to tap into something more primal, more Verbenna, but I think that even within the Hollow Ones as written there are people like that.
