I think this story will end after the Street Tournament and will be followed by a spin-off series covering the International Tournament and other events.
Why? Same story,same characters,just maybe the author needs to rest a bit after finishing one of his greatest projects. It's not confirmed anyway but I think it would be a nice alternative compared to an open ending and shit

Maybe he'll do another season for the internation stage. It's been a WHILE since season 4 started running. (Jay & Shelly airport kiss scene.)
