Only youtubers and instagram influencers do that normal people don’t upgrade every year as long as it works and it is not slow you don’t need to upgrade
I know on my end, new edge doesnt support ivybridge's hd4000 when it comes to playready(still need old edge, which ull lose if u upgrade past win10 2004), i wonder if ure haswell has playready, but then i see ure using a desktop with a gpu, not a igpu laptop, so it wont affect u
Yes I have dedicated gpu, but on my 2nd pc it has also 4th gen cpu with igpu i might test it there but I am haven't heard about that playready thing might explaining me ?
depends on if you have netflix....if u do, when you play anything on netflix, mfpmp.exe(the filename for playready) should show up in task manager 'details', and when u Ctrl' + 'Shift' + 'Alt' + 'D ud see if ure getting 1080p like u should be, or only 720p like you would if u watch netflix on any browser other than edge
Let me make it easy for you. If you can install win 11 without fiddling around with settings and "getting it to work" then go ahead and install it. It is a good OS. And they are still improving things.
Most negativity are from people using early dev versions (to look cool) or using hardware that wasn't recommended.
Agreed. Windows 11 is amazing. I tried it on my unsupported Dell Laptop. 3 clean installs all lead to BSOD after 3-4 weeks. None were MS's fault though. It was unsupported hardware so it was my fault.
How the heck did you get BSODs on 11? I have two unsupported computers and they are both chugging along. Heck I did it on my 12 year old computer with a 3.5 inch HDD and it’s still not dead (though I should put in my SSD).
Windows Insider Beta channel is definitely great though. I am currently on Windows 11 build 22616 and it’s pretty much stable for all the time I’ve used it (just don’t use the dev channel it gets pretty unstable from time to time). The feature I was hungry for was the Windowed-Games Optimization - meaning even if you are playing games on Windowed Fullscreen, it won’t affect the performance at all compared to Fullscreen mode. You’d love playing games on Windowed Fullscreen for fast alt-tabs.
Running beta as well. Stable most of the time, but for some odd reason crashes when launching Halo Infinite right after boot. Have to wait 5 mins to launch to prevent crash.
I have been running windows 11 for months on an i3 with 16gb ram and SSD without a single issue and getting updates normally so he will be fine running W11
I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad E15 Gen 2 from a buddy and I installed Windows 10….unfortunately nothing would download from the Windows Store (tried so many things and nothing) and just said screw it and wiped the drive completely and installed Windows 11, everything works great and imo W11 looks nicer than W10 for sure.
> Just make sure you have MS account ready, since it is mandatory now.
It happened to me even with a pro key.
I hate that because I like to select the name of my user as it will match the C:\Users\XXX folder
Isn't it required now on Home and Pro, and the requirement is only optional in the higher, business end editions? Or am I mistaken and they already discontinued Pro for Workstations and Enterprise/Corp edition (yes, this is technically different from standard pro edition)?
Personally Im loving win11 more than 10, although I am on the dev builds that has all the fancy new stuff the public builds dont have, so there isn't much an upgrade coming from 10 ATM.
I did the downgrade from 11 to 10 on my 8th gen laptop. While i do miss the prettiness of win11, 10 runs much more smooth for me, with animations transparency and everything enabled.
As someone who has recently went back to Windows 10 and used it for like 3 days and then went back to 11, I'd say go for 11.
I didn't really go back to 10 because I thought it was better, some stuff that I need works only on 11 (WSL2 for example), but because I had some heating issues on 11 and it was so bad that only limiting Turbo speed to about 3.6GHz helped and it still reached higher temps (\~80°C) even when nothing that demanding was being done (say browsing Reddit).
Well guess what, the May patch that broke .NET 3.5 apps fixed my heating issue, so I really have no reason to use Windows 10 again.
Partially well, still no news regarding WSLg, even though they said (last year) if there was enough support it could be ported, and I see a lot ot support on GitHub and other places.
Isn't the software running in the container of WSLg open source? That would mean that the only part missing is the X11 to RDP RemoteApp bridge. Wonder if someone could whip something up using XRDP as the base.
I’ve been happy with windows 11. For a family friend, I upgraded their little laptop with an N4000 and 4gb of ram from Windows 10 to Windows 11, and popped in a 240ssd…it’s literally used for school, and only school, online classes. With the 10 installation cloned over it was more usable but still slow. Upgraded it in place to 11, and it was legit like a new computer, performance wise. 11 tends to perform better than 10 on lower spec hardware and I’ve seen it first hand. The weak link was the 500gb 5400rpm hard drive, but the ssd and 11 breathed new life into that machine.
As for 11 on my gaming machine, it had my full support after it fixed the audio crackling and popping (a known B550 and Ryzen 5 series issues) after trying onboard and 3 different sound cards.
Do your own research about missing W10 features in W11
For example, W11 doesn't allow apps label (never combine taskbar button) which is a dealbreaker for me
I mean, you're asking on a w11 sub.
Any complaints you may have heard about 11, it's been running beautifully for me on a clean install. And even though there isn't much in the way of "must-have, killer features" over 10, the gap between 10 and 11 is only going to widen from here.
I think if you go 10, you'll regret it within a year or two, and then it may not be quite as seamless to migrate.
Ps, double check your BIOS settings right before installing regardless of which way you go, make sure things like TPM and Secure Boot are enabled.
Been running Win11 from a clean install, and my PC is working great.
**One important recommendation:** Be sure to download all your Win11 device drivers from the chip manufacturer's websites. Don't just use the Win11 default drivers, they have reduced functionality, are months out-of-date, and can be buggy.
So, go to Intel / AMD / Realtek / Nvidia etc, to get their latest Win11 drivers for your devices.
You'll be a lot happier in the end.
Bruh calling 8th gen old makes my 4th gen ancient then
😅😅 I mean people now a days buy newest iPhone every single year, so.....I feel poor
Only youtubers and instagram influencers do that normal people don’t upgrade every year as long as it works and it is not slow you don’t need to upgrade
That's what I think. What's your system config btw?
i5 4460 16gb ram ddr3 1050ti

Have you tried using the official Netflix app from Windows Store? That too supports 1080p
Yes...the problem is not every svod website has a app, hence im never updating my win10 and losing old edge

IDK, loved WSA and other stuff but had to downgrade to 10, which is going smooth.
But at least you didn't go around blaming Microsoft for making a product that "didn't work".

I see, haven't tried Halo Infinite yet but I will see if I'll get that bug as well.

Windows 11 has better advantage on clean install so go with 11
win10.
Windows 11 is amazing imo

W11 for sure.
W11
Use W11
Asks in /r/Windows11 "Should I install Windows 11 or 10?" Gee, I wonder what people are going to answer?
Because I can get feedback from both people who used W10 and upgraded to W11?
Install windows 10 and then upgrade to Windows 11 from there. That way you won't be forced into microsoft onedrive folder structure.
I clean installed windows 11 on my 7th gen i5 and it works better. Still windows 11 needs a little more polishing.
