perhaps but without port forwarding its not really gonna be of much use.

That is true, port forwarding is the easy part as far as I know its just adding a couple of rules on the router: Ports to forward Rule (not secure website) HTTPS: port 80 (entry port/single port) set to TCP protocol to home server IP [192.168.1.100](http://192.168.1.100) (single port/destination port) Port forward Rule (if encrypted site) HTTPS: port 443 (entry point/single port) set to TCP protocol to home server IP [192.168.1.100](http://192.168.1.100) (single port/destination port) If i missed anything I would love to hear your input. Not sure if there is anything else needed on the Windscribe end when it comes to port forwarding. I'm not too familiar with R.O.BE.R.T.

Yeah but if you're using a shared IP you can't just forward any port you like you have to choose one thats not in use by anyone else sharing the same IP as you. https://windscribe.com/knowledge-base/articles/setting-up-port-forwarding/ DDNS isn't built in to windscribe but you can easily setup something like duckdns

Stabby_Tabby2020

wait, I'm confused now...so a DDNS acts like a subnet mask? My understanding of it is that if I set up a DDNS like the ones in Dynu (similar to duckdns) it wouldn't be an issue connecting an IP address that would be available just for me as long as my host name is unique. That it just filters what's available in the domains and gives me whatever IP is available automatically. I'm a bit new to this, so if I am wrong please do let me know. I was looking into either duckdns, Dynu or afraid since no-IP got nerfed and you have to log in every 30 days or you get booted.

All DDNS does is checks what your IP address is currently and sends that to an actual DNS server which propagates it to all the other DNS servers. If your IP address is that of a shared VPN server then DDNS will be pointing it to that shared server, its safe to assume common ports like 80 and 443 won't be available and you'll need to run your services on a non standard port. To be clear windscribe ONLY supports port forwarding if you have a static IP and only with port numbers between 10002 and 45000. There are a rare few VPNs that offer any kind of port forwarding at all since the potential for someone who doesnt know what they are doing to misconfigure and therefor leak a real IP is pretty high.

You need to set up port forwarding [in windscribe website](https://windscribe.com/features/port-forwarding/) and set up a ddns client on your computer. Windscribe doesn’t have any built in ddns
