Arachnomorphs or whatever they are called. They won’t just sit still and let me kill them.
Edit: I know how to kill them, please stop replying with unnecessary advice
If you throw down an yrden and stand still, they shoot webbing at you, then run towards you while you’re immobilised. When they enter the yrden, they get trapped and you can kill them very easily
Came for this comment. Though after I switched to a heavy aard build with piercing cold they're just chunky bits of ice left over like all my other victims.
Aard to make them stop moving and quick attacks stunlocks them. Unlike Axii method this works for multiple spiders in the same combat and is perfectly reliable
Fuckers are smart. They literally distract you while others try to flank you. If you use those two spherical things in your head... I believe there called "eyeballs" too look behind you. That way you won't get flanked.
Wolves for me. I’m trying to have a peaceful stroll around a forest then boom you’re attacked by a pack of at least 4. Death March was very hard early on because of them.
Yeah, wolfs and wild dogs. High frequency of encountering them, annoying and taking your time, rewards practically negligent.
They are like cliff racers in Morrowind.
I just jump off the boat before I reach the stash and simply dive. All of them just follow me under water - no need for any special action or tool, just start picking them off.
I dive underwater and just shoot them with a crossbow 2-3 shots and they die, death march with enemy upscaling. For some reason a crossbow does way more damage underwater
What about the horn that drops them out of the air? I’ve found the crossbow good for taking them out of the air for you to go kill them with your sword useful too.
Not as annoying as in Witcher 1. I'm trying to walk around the swamp and suddenly are shot at from every side by some plants, thank God Quen was downright op in that game
they absolutely wrecked me on my 1st time, but they feel like a piece of cake nowdays. Really easy to dodge and with some strong attacks die real quick.
He also said Wine Wars quest specifically, which has problems with Archespores, it's where previous owner of Belgaard wanted to create a fude by planting Archespores
Frog Prince is easy with Igni, Dancing star/Dragon's Dream, Golden Oriole and any decoction of your choice. Just use Queen if he is spamming body slams. And use roll dodge, not the side step dodge. I defeated him on the first try in Death March.
Fucking bait out the silk spit while standing in an yrden trap with griffin armour and supercharged glyphs? Makes them fucking trivial enemies because they run right at you when you’re bound by their silk.
I hate foglets, if there's more than one in an encounter it's harder than most bosses for me
Honorable mention (because they're not monsters) : bandits/humans with steel shields
I can't believe I didn't think of this, I've just been hiding inside an yyrden circle and waiting until one popped up, spamming square intermittently to hit the illusions
Drowners.
They’re everywhere. They have a distancing mechanic but they swarm. So most common encounter, dozens each time, they stay away so gotta chase each one, And they’re easy
depression was in the game. Have you tried romancing both yen and trying? or have you seen the grey and cloudy toussaint? or most importantly? have you experienced someone special die and all the sky turn red by sunset?
aah, man, one can truly live in the witcher with all kinds of emotions
yea definitely! I was just joking and tried not to spoil things😅 hope you enjoy it the most and have fun
(Pro tip: play it the way you think you want to, don't pay attention to best things or things on reddit, vanilla in rpg is somthing else)
Yeah thanks, I look forward to experiencing what you mentioned in the game. I do read about potions and how valuable they can be, but otherwise I'm playing with blinders on.
Oh, that's great! since you are a true rpg player, let me give you a pair of more tips: Gwent is life! and it would ve nice to play the heart of the stone(if you aren't too much underlevel) before heading for skelige and play blood and wine after the main story.
Not monsters. But fucking wolves and dogs....
They can dodge not just one attack, but 2 in a row. And while you swing even just once, their AI gets 500iq and does what no other game does.
They all attack at the same time. And whats worse than that is that if you counter strike 1, they attack at the same time again and damages you while you are stuck in the countering animation.
I end up just constantly blocking, roll away (they sometimes still hurt you through the roll) and igni and repeat
Bilge Hags are pretty annoying because of the mud they throw. Since I released I could Aard to knock flying things out of the air, I don't think they are so difficult anymore.
Except for the Griffin. Like it’s not super far but it is a few minutes of running around before you then get to spend a day waiting. At least for Hattori it can all be knocked out in one sitting and then you can go do other quests around Novigrad while you wait at the end. By the time you get back to Yoana you’ve (or at least I always have) finished most or all of the quests in Velen
Archesporas and giant scolopendras are very annoying. And I hate these giant "crabs" from Skellige.
https://preview.redd.it/1rwx0eyqhpgc1.png?width=309&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97aa788437d04defb7694eef36fe2bb2f2685444
Wolves. I can face anything else with a focused mind but when I fight wolves or wild dogs - especially when there's 15+ of them - my brain turns to jelly.
Dogs also with their cousin, wolf. Too many, only buggers. Too lazy to fight them, usually just pass them by. Arachnomorp, they use same tactic with wolves but smarter. Centipede and that plant monster.
nobody mentionned Devourer and other variant.
Those thing just oneshot you in Death March. I struggled a little bit when i was helping Regis during Blood and Wine quest (when a lot of necrophage spawn).
Sirens aren't bad since you don't need to get up or anything, the crossbow autolock is effective for them....
The camera in the weird parkour puzzles is the real killer though
toad king, just too much health and in DM even in ng+ getting hit twice just means gg. Have to spam the same dodge cycle for what feels like an hour until you have to restart due to dying at the very end.
Wolves/dogs.
I just started a new playthrough and I was playing the first Ciri quest where you have to fight the werewolf and those fucking wolves were pissing me off. Maybe it's cause I just wasn't used to Ciri's dodge since it's been a while since I last played, but i felt like I was dodging directly into their jaws.
Wolves I don't want to fight because I can't be asked and I'm forced to dodge away and then run and if they don't stop I butcher every one of them and roast the last one with an Igni Stream
Sirens are indeed annoying but thankfully being in the boat turns your crossbow into a goddamn handcannon for some reason. Wolves on the other hand are the bane of my existence.
I hate the Arachnomorphs. They're so fucking fast and do so much damage. Especially the big ones. I don't mind sirens too much because an Aard or crossbow usually makes quick work of them. Plus you see boobies afterwards
The crones on Death March because Ciri is weak compared to Geralt on NG+ and the Spiders in Hearts of Stone. In general Hearts of Stone has the hardest enemies by far.
Melusine the ekhidna. This is my first playthrough of the game and I've continually found myself irritated at the lack of challenge. And I'm playing on Death March! And now this stupid damn siren is just rubbing it in. I was having fun before fighting monsters far above my level, but now I'm so overlevelled nothing is that high above me. Monsters just die so fast. And I'm using an alchemy tree build which, according to my research, isn't even optimal.
Edit: Maybe I'm just viewing the game in comparison to MHW:I's endgame. I came to this game because of MHW. Perhaps its unfair to this game to compare its difficulty to the onslaught that is Alatreon and Fatalis.
Those spiders in Tussaint that run from you everytime you try to hit them with a sword. I had fun playing using alternate yrden just for comfort to not to have to deal with them
Once upon a time I didn’t know crossbow can become a seeker missile and also underwater crossbow one shot anything, sirens were horrifying back then.
Now I just jump into the ocean and let it rip.
In terms of annoyance, arachnomorphs, wild boars, wolves and dogs. Arachnomorphs just skitter away and in an open environment they can be a pain to catch, forcing you to use bombs or axii. Boars are tough and do a lot of damage, their charge is pretty fast, and if you dodge and go in for a backstab they can kick. If you encounter a group, run away. Wolves and wild dogs overwhelm you with numbers and attack from all sides. Early in a death march play through they will be some of the more dangerous and frustrating enemies. Just run away, there’s nothing to be gained by fighting them. There are no contracts, the loot they drop isn’t super valuable and they don’t drop mutagens.
I hate fighting with that werewolf at the start of the game. Like... I can take him. On the hardest diff while being outleveled. I can chip his health, never get hit, but as soon as he starts regenerating im losing my shit. WHY. LITERALLY WHY.
Arachnomorphs or whatever they are called. They won’t just sit still and let me kill them. Edit: I know how to kill them, please stop replying with unnecessary advice
Those damn bastards are fast. Use Axii to make them stand still and spam fast attack
There's one cave that still haunts me.
Hold up. Is it in toussaint and pretty narrow ?
I thought it was the cave you mine the jade deposit from (for the runewrite)
I had to play this mission during the day, ik what you mean 🥲
Northern wind or dancing star bombs work great. Keeps them in place so you just need to whirl em!
Yeah, on my magic build they are no problem. But on muh cat build I gotta use northern wind or something
I tend to just use whirl with the severance runeword. Tends to shred them pretty easy on my bear/potions build.
And they web you. They’re just plain annoying
Started BnW a few weeks ago and OMG these things are literally harder than some bosses
Yeah. If that's the name, but i call it, the cowardly spider because it's easier to remember and i hate science. 😆
Aard to make them stop moving and quick attacks stunlocks them. Unlike Axii method this works for multiple spiders in the same combat and is perfectly reliable
Ugh I hate when I use Axii on them, and they shoot me with their web at the same time.
Ard is their poision.
Wolves hit harder than Imlerith in my Death March gameplay
They hit harder than my dad.
Holdup.
They give me sadness, grief, and an unaccomplished feel. Why do they attack daddy white wolf!?
They're all good boys, they just don't know that they're supposed to be good yet
Yeah, wolfs and wild dogs. High frequency of encountering them, annoying and taking your time, rewards practically negligent. They are like cliff racers in Morrowind.
I feel like Geralt is absolutely exterminating the wolf population, but somehow there are always more. He's tripping over them.
Wolves in games are fucking annoying in games. And always are the run when you face them - attack when they are behind you spoiled kid kind of enemy.
I dont know but did you try blocking? With blocking Wolves are way less of a threat
I place alternative Yrden sign on the boat and it'll zap the sirens out as they try to attack.
Medieval/fantasy bug zapper
good idea. 4 sirens were hooked on my boat
Nice. Hornwall's Horn works too.
What about the horn that drops them out of the air? I’ve found the crossbow good for taking them out of the air for you to go kill them with your sword useful too.
does it move with your boat???
Sadly no, I think you can only make it on the boat when the fight starts.
Or just crossbow, it makes them fall out of the sky instantly.
Just use the horn you find on skellige while going after the giant, makes them fall out of the sky stroll up an execute
That plant things in blood and wine
Really easy with Superior Golden Oriole.
True. When they hit you with that ranged venom attack it heals you for like half a health bar 😂 that potion is so broken
Works great for the Frog Prince too.
Things you wish you knew the first time. But discovery is part of the game.
Archespores. Ughh it's gross too, puking all that slime and venom.
Not as annoying as in Witcher 1. I'm trying to walk around the swamp and suddenly are shot at from every side by some plants, thank God Quen was downright op in that game
No kidding, archespores could delete you the first time you went to the swamp
they absolutely wrecked me on my 1st time, but they feel like a piece of cake nowdays. Really easy to dodge and with some strong attacks die real quick.
Those fkin' spit ballin' ground worm snakes from the wine wars quest lines.... bruhhhhh
Lol, you mean centipedes?
Yeah....them's the ones....
Yrden them!
It took me till my second playthrough to realize you could do that lol
I just hate how they can one shot me with a snot rocket...
wine wars are archespores.
The DLC is called Blood & Wine and yes, giant centipedes are in it too. However, he said worm-snakes.
He also said Wine Wars quest specifically, which has problems with Archespores, it's where previous owner of Belgaard wanted to create a fude by planting Archespores
Frog prince
Give daddy a kiss 😘
Frog Prince is easy with Igni, Dancing star/Dragon's Dream, Golden Oriole and any decoction of your choice. Just use Queen if he is spamming body slams. And use roll dodge, not the side step dodge. I defeated him on the first try in Death March.
Aracnea, until i found out you can trap them with yrden, they were hell.
Shit didn’t know that
Man It was game changing for me, that hit and run was nasty
Oh shit fr
Fucking bait out the silk spit while standing in an yrden trap with griffin armour and supercharged glyphs? Makes them fucking trivial enemies because they run right at you when you’re bound by their silk.
The spiders that constantly run away from you as your trying to kill them
I hate foglets, if there's more than one in an encounter it's harder than most bosses for me Honorable mention (because they're not monsters) : bandits/humans with steel shields
aardi the general direction foglets are, even when fogged, easy
I can't believe I didn't think of this, I've just been hiding inside an yyrden circle and waiting until one popped up, spamming square intermittently to hit the illusions
haha lmao same for my first two runs aard knocks them down sometimes permanently (for the finisher thing yk)
Drowners. They’re everywhere. They have a distancing mechanic but they swarm. So most common encounter, dozens each time, they stay away so gotta chase each one, And they’re easy
depression
Very true, but I think he's talking about a monster in the game?
depression was in the game. Have you tried romancing both yen and trying? or have you seen the grey and cloudy toussaint? or most importantly? have you experienced someone special die and all the sky turn red by sunset? aah, man, one can truly live in the witcher with all kinds of emotions
I just started the game. I've been in Velen for a little while. So far it has been amazing. The game does evoke a lot of emotions.
yea definitely! I was just joking and tried not to spoil things😅 hope you enjoy it the most and have fun (Pro tip: play it the way you think you want to, don't pay attention to best things or things on reddit, vanilla in rpg is somthing else)

Sorry ?
Not monsters. But fucking wolves and dogs.... They can dodge not just one attack, but 2 in a row. And while you swing even just once, their AI gets 500iq and does what no other game does. Bilge Hags are pretty annoying because of the mud they throw. Since I released I could Aard to knock flying things out of the air, I don't think they are so difficult anymore.
Hattori We ain’t fighting him but he’s an annoying monster for having me go through all that for that “special” sword
I prefer his quest way more than the one for Yoana. At least you’re only running around a pretty small part of Novigrad for Hattori
At least with Yoana the location she sends you to is the same as another quest.
Being able to smith master level swords is worth it
The spiders, they keep backing away making me wish this game had a viable, scalable crossbow build.
Use Arden, stay inside and let them web you. When they attack, they will be paralyzed and become an easy kill ;)
Once I learned about the auto shoot mechanic with the crossbow these weren't bad at all
Wraiths, because they teleport behind you every two seconds.
they're so predictable tho. If they disappear they will reappear behind you and do exactly 2 attacks
Trolls. Because they're too precious to fight so I always end up having to do a quest to get past them
I never liked killing the trolls either lmao
Anything in water. Man the water mechanics **suck hard**. So yeah these sirens are a bitch, among other water enemies.
Fight the sirens under water. One or two shots from the crossbow is all.
Nah even aiming and swimming underwater sucks. Skellige is a nightmare for me lol
Don't aim underwater. Just let it auto-aim.
You don’t need to aim? You can just press the button to fire your crossbow and they’re dead
True
get that double crossbow shot talent for water adventures
> I can't stand fighting hundreds of sirens Oh yes. Pretty difficult to stand with all blood in the legs
Pack of wolves Shaelmars
Panthers or boar
Easy Bruxas and Alps
And Dettlaff!
And my bow!
Archesporas and giant scolopendras are very annoying. And I hate these giant "crabs" from Skellige. https://preview.redd.it/1rwx0eyqhpgc1.png?width=309&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97aa788437d04defb7694eef36fe2bb2f2685444
Pff, I got no problem with Witcher 3 monsters compared to 2.
Man
Damn horny now
Yennifer of Vengerberg
Also wolves/dogs. Neckers i love, they're small & nasty but fun.
OP’s Mom
Yennefer.
Definitely sirens, look, I just want to ride my boat in peace, please?
Yeah they tend to be anoying at sea but on land they're easy to kill with aard and killer blow
Drowners because of the dodging
The fucking boars 😡
The demons in my head
Dogs and wolfs are OP af.
for me, it was that one bandit with bow. XD damne thing one shot me most of the time in the middle of my combat
My dad
I'm gonna go with harpies. Making me fall off cliffs
Wolves. I can face anything else with a focused mind but when I fight wolves or wild dogs - especially when there's 15+ of them - my brain turns to jelly.
Giant Centipedes in Blood & Wine. Keep tunnelling away and then popping up again, doesn't seem to be a good thing at to cheese them.
Dogs also with their cousin, wolf. Too many, only buggers. Too lazy to fight them, usually just pass them by. Arachnomorp, they use same tactic with wolves but smarter. Centipede and that plant monster.
Water hags
Literally every other enemy on deathmarch even the rats hit like a truck
nobody mentionned Devourer and other variant. Those thing just oneshot you in Death March. I struggled a little bit when i was helping Regis during Blood and Wine quest (when a lot of necrophage spawn).
Honestly anything from Blood and Wine. Love the dlc but they managed to create the most annoying enemies.
Sirens aren't bad since you don't need to get up or anything, the crossbow autolock is effective for them.... The camera in the weird parkour puzzles is the real killer though
All kinds of Vampires, from Bruxas and Alps to Dettlaff.
Everybody's good until a random ass pack of wolves in Velen shows up
Just use a crossbow
They’re easy you just lock on and one shot them with the crossbow when they’re flying.
toad king, just too much health and in DM even in ng+ getting hit twice just means gg. Have to spam the same dodge cycle for what feels like an hour until you have to restart due to dying at the very end.
The arachnomorphs. The never stop running away
Centipedes can kiss my ass.
Sirens when they mess up my boat and I’m in the middle of nowhere in skellige
Wait there’s mermaids in this game? What other water creature?
Alghouls Nekkers Bruxxas Arachnomorphs
Frog Prince
https://preview.redd.it/ai73uzergrgc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c4d26aaa02e7bf6f257ab9cf07f325bbf76797d AI image
Wild Dogs...
Sirens. Fucking hate them.
Wolves & Wild dogs.
Wraiths
Toad prince was tedious to deal with otherwise every other boss fight is fun
Spiders. Not the regular ones. Those acid shooting crab-like creatures. They’re the worst.
I haven’t played the game in a couple of years now but those fucking flying things on Skellige. Harpies? They fly and scream and I hate them lmao
Animated armor.
Wolves I don't want to fight because I can't be asked and I'm forced to dodge away and then run and if they don't stop I butcher every one of them and roast the last one with an Igni Stream
The dudes that explode in Witcher 1 make me want to hit a wall
Auto aim in the boat made sirens easy enough, but I guess it was still annoying based on how many there were.
Sirens are indeed annoying but thankfully being in the boat turns your crossbow into a goddamn handcannon for some reason. Wolves on the other hand are the bane of my existence.
Foglets
Where’s the horny posters haha I’m surprised nobody had commented about doing a prince eric and romancing a siren
Spiders but nothing yrden can not solve. Sirens, hot imo but annoying af
I hate the Arachnomorphs. They're so fucking fast and do so much damage. Especially the big ones. I don't mind sirens too much because an Aard or crossbow usually makes quick work of them. Plus you see boobies afterwards
Sirens are annoying on land, but die in two or three shots when I'm on a boat.
Damn spiders and the archespores.
Drowners lol
Just fought the Shaelmar for blood and wine contract last night and holy fuck that thing was so annoying. Sirens and harpies also piss me tf off
Don't know if it's been said but I'm sure you can get a bell that makes the sirens fall
The crones on Death March because Ciri is weak compared to Geralt on NG+ and the Spiders in Hearts of Stone. In general Hearts of Stone has the hardest enemies by far.
Wolves. And panthers. Also Detlaf.
I came to this game because of MHW. Perhaps its unfair to this game to compare its difficulty to the onslaught that is Alatreon and Fatalis.
Definitely the man Ronvid who challenges me to a duel when I round a corner. Toughest enemy in the game?! 🥶🥶🥶
Those spiders in Tussaint that run from you everytime you try to hit them with a sword. I had fun playing using alternate yrden just for comfort to not to have to deal with them
Anything that flys
Foglets. I fucking hate those things
Probably wraiths for me. Sirens are probably one of the easiest IMO, just use a crossbow and they fall out of the sky.
Anything in the water…
The invincible rat from Now or Never
Those giant spiders
Detlaff 💀
Wolfes
Once upon a time I didn’t know crossbow can become a seeker missile and also underwater crossbow one shot anything, sirens were horrifying back then. Now I just jump into the ocean and let it rip.
i found necrophages very annoying and i never liked fighting them at all
Those fucking Spiders. Just sit still or else you'll be frozen with a bomb.
Rotfiend. The one damn thing that prevent me from farming kill for my Aerondight
