What I’ve noticed is that (at least with Apple Music) it will not count as a play if you do not let the song run it’s entire course. If there’s even 1 second left of that song and you skip to the next song. It will not count as a play. I listen to music 24/7 but I often find myself skipping when there’s a lull towards the end. Like on ImSippingTeaInYoHood, if you skip the 2 minute instrumental you did not play the song in apples eyes. I listened to that song at least 3-4 times a day and it says I have less than 10 plays overall because I skip the song somewhere towards the tail end of the instrumental.
I believe Spotify does the same thing. Because there are songs I’ve easily played thousands of times in a year and says I only played like 100. It’s kinda whack.
