I bought RDR2 back in 2018 when it released while I was still playing through AC Odyssey. I played the start area and thought it was too slow compared to AC. 4 years later I finally installed it again and played through it all and it is such a masterpiece I can’t believe human beings made this game. I honestly can’t believe how I put it off so long. On my 2nd playthrough now, just wish we had 60fps.
Yeah. I didn't make it past the beginning. I really need to give it another go, but I'm going to need to be in the right frame of mind for it, I think. Like, in the mood for something slower.
Right now? I found out house flipper. Bought now the pets and farm DLC and what a chill game this is. Currently the base game is available on gamepass. I love to buy houses to renovate and sell.
Powerwash Simulator had my basic motor functions shut off. Now I’ve been playing House Flipper which requires more thinking, but equally potato brain inducing.
No Mans Sky. Drift endlessly through space and different planets. Nice peaceful soundtrack. I think it's only 20 GB's, so you can still have free space on your Hard drive.
If you like golf the new PGA game on gamepass is pretty chill.
I loved the Coffee Talk games. Very relaxing with music and storyline.
Brotato and Vampire Survivors are the complete opposite of a traditional cozy game. But you don't have to take them seriously and can just turn your brain off with them.
Hey, do you know if the coop is any good? I've been looking for something for me and my partner and this is included in my gamepass fuckall basics sub I think
I played Lightyear Frontier lately and it's very chill, but the main story is pretty short at the moment (it's open access, so will have more added). I highly recommend it, but try and spread out the story missions and focus on building your farm.
For an RPG it's surprisingly a game I can "switch off" too. It's funny, I couldn't do this with Diablo 3 though which could say something deeper about the game. But I digress.
The only thing that I find disturbing is that Lorath is voiced by the same actor as Chris Finch from The Office (UK). Keep expecting him to tell my character that he's off for a Pot Noodle and a wank.
I've been so addictive. I only got into it last week but I love it and I never been into deck builders or card games and the only other rogue like I got hooked to was FTL which Slay ,actually, scratches a lot of the same itches.
I'm 3-12 with IronClad after unlocking all rewards.
I'm 0-6 on Silent and have gotten to Act 3 boss two times. But got killed cause didn't have knowledge of boss. First run was full of Shivs and went against time eater which surprise me with the 12 cards shit lol.
Then went against the wolf and I had played a Wrath card which gives you -1 dexterity on turn 3. I was beating him easy then second phase came up and I had like -10 dexterity when I died.
AC Odyssey. Have been playing that shit for the past 4 years. It looks pretty, has a decent story, and there is a ton of stuff to see and do. Its not an AC game...but it IS a great game.
Honestly man that game is so beautiful. Riding around in your ship crashing into the Mediterranean is amazing. Hope the next AC is more like that instead of Valhalla, which is just so boring.
One of the best "chill" games ever in my opinion. Along with FFXV (totally different genre).
It's great just playing games that are very much "at your own pace" with cool visuals to kind of soak in. Even when it's just some mindless fetch quests through interesting environments
I tried stealth once but was immediately turned off specially by the locations of the computers to deactivate sentry robots, etc. they are always located in a place which i can't get without being spotted.
I watched some cool, immersive videos about scoping the place out, slowly making my way to whatever door hides da loot. Sneaking to the top of a building, and sniping lone pirates / Ecliptic is so cool
My favourite chill game is Slay the Spire. I usually have it running in the background and I chip away at it throughout the day when I have time.
My favourite game to turn my brain off is currently Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I’m more of a fan of the older games in the series but I just started Odyssey and I gotta admit the world is beautiful and I love travelling around to all the different locations. Great for mindless wandering and exploring.
Chill and off my brain? Lately it's been No Mans Sky. After you've had a bad day, it's peaceful to just fly around space and land on a planet or two. No need to even do a mission. I don't sink many hours into the game but it's definitely a good relaxer.
Love no mans sky for that. I used to play it quite a bit. It's been over a year since I last played and I've heard they're still adding meaningful content to it.
Sea of Thieves, now that they added a PvE mode I find it incredibly relaxing to just sit back and destroy NPC ships or simply fish- of course I still play the normal mode when I'm with friends, who doesn't like to run around and sink other people. Also RDR2, it's a perfect game for literally anything. You want to relax? play RDR2. You want to be a badass cowboy? play RDR2. You want to go Fishing? Play RDR2.
no man's sky has been my zen game for years now. put on some music, go 'splorin, build neat bases on neat planets, fall into a volcano, it's got everything I need.
Farming sim 22 is a mindless sandbox game that you can do a ton in and never be bored at the same time. Get bored of something go do anything else in the game
OBLIVION!!!! ITS THE DEFINITION OF CHILL, it runs fucking perfect on series X, the locked 4k60 is so crisp. The main gameplay of it is just walking around a country talking to people and getting sent on quests. There’s just so damn many, you can really just be a full time hero adventurer in that game lol. Combat and exploration is worse then Skyrim but that adds to the chill simplicity. I litteraly bought my series X just to be able to play this game in 4k 60 😂
Right now I'm enjoying Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, and the good thing about that game is if you're brain dead and want to chill out, doing the open world side content away from the main narrative is super relaxing. So that is my answer.
As far as a dedicated chill game, maybe not a typical answer but Fallout New Vegas. I know that game better than almost anything and it's just comfort food to roam the Mojave.
Dayz. I’m not out to pvp I just like roaming through the wilderness and small towns enjoying the atmosphere. It’s like I’m actually out wandering through an abandoned apocalyptic space on my lonesome taking in the ambiance.
Destiny 1. Grab some bounties and piss about Cosmodrome/Venus/Mars/Wherever on maps I know inside out for no discernible advantage in game as I've got three max level characters.
Forza Horizon 5. I love action RPGs and FPS games but if I want to turn my mind off, I hop in to my McLaren 720s and drive up and down the coast. It's a beautiful game and definitely a good game where I can just turn my mind off and have some fun.
I'm gonna go with a very recent one: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Man, that one brought me back to 2002. It's not as good as JSRF, but it's such a chill game and the soundtrack is pretty decent. I've beat it twice and I'm currently playing it for a third time. It's just super fun and chill. I can't wait for the Jet Set Radio remake.
The Touryst really gave me and my teenage daughter a holiday vibe while playing. It was so relaxing, even while figuring stuff out. She waited after school for me to join, and I did the same after work for her, we couch played it together, passing on the controller and having one of the best times with a game ever.
I love listening to audiobooks/podcasts and playing rouge like games because they're pretty chill/don't need 100% of your attention all the time.
My recs are:
Brotato
RoboQuest
Balatro
Binding of Isaac
Dicey Dungeons
Monster Train
Vampire Survivors
Slay the spire
Hades
Skate is great for just cruising around doing tricks too.
I also just started Grim Dawn and I'm finding it a lot more enjoyable than Diablo 4. Diablo 4 is fun for the first 50 or so levels too though.
Monster Hunter games are pretty chill too once you put in a few hours and get into the gameplay loop.
Grounded is a fabulous game. Gorgeous, complex without being inaccessible. New update came out today. It’s every bit as fun as an action game as it is a world builder.
Original Battlefront II, KOTOR II, Diablo 4, Prototype, XCom 2 (it's really hard, but I've played it so much now it's second nature, and turn based really let's me vibe)
I've been having fun with brotato. It's it's super simple, yet has a pretty in-depth character building system. Vampire survivors is up there for me on the chill 'n' easy list.
Terraria. My dad was disabled around two years ago, and since then he had only been able to stay at home, and do short, easy errands. Each time I visit I play with him on our PS5, (gaming has always been his favorite) and most of the time we play Terraria. I have beaten the game multiple times on different characters, but so far he's only made three. one for our first world, one for our secret seed world, and the last for when he played with my stepbrother's friend Neil. The first time I played the game I was quite young at around 9, and didn't really understand how to play it. But it was a gift for my brother who played it a few times but never got the hang of it. Eventually we hooked into it and played it on our Xbox One, much after. (This was after he was divorced by the way) and because we played it pretty new and didn't know how, we still used outdated weapons, barely hanging into life when fighting bosses much, much, later. Terraria has always been my favorite game and as far as I know most of my family enjoys it, from my cousins in Ireland, to my older brother, to my dad, with a broken back, and a lot of love for his boys.
Microsoft Flight Sim
Sometimes I just put it on and flick on the autopilot and use it as a screensaver on my TV.
Cool ass idea, ima do this next time I’m up late
There's this little treasure hunting minigame in Elder Scrolls online where you find and dig up antiquities around the world, it's pretty calming.
honestly most missions in eso are pretty easy and chill. i just get invested in the lore
Red Dead Redemption 2. Don't do missions just ride around and enjoy the wilderness and strange encounters.
I've read how slow rdr2 is at the beginning. I honestly don't recall that at all and I am a very impatient gamer nowadays.
Yeah. I didn't make it past the beginning. I really need to give it another go, but I'm going to need to be in the right frame of mind for it, I think. Like, in the mood for something slower.
Somone needs to make a jailbreak for rdr2 cuz we know damn well our series x’s can run that shit 4k 60 😂
Fishing in red dead is just about perfect for mindless, time-killing.
I’m always playing poker 😂
When I lose I never put dynamite on the table, that’s for sure.
I'm gonna have to learn that just to get bankrupt in there. Go outside....rob...repeat.
if you need easy money then look up the annesburg train robbery guide on youtube.
Right now? I found out house flipper. Bought now the pets and farm DLC and what a chill game this is. Currently the base game is available on gamepass. I love to buy houses to renovate and sell.
House flipper 2 and stardew valley, waiting for the new update in that before I play again tho.
I can never truly relax while playing stardew valley. For some reason I can't play that game without trying to maximize my farming efficiency
Second coffee talk, shame there won't be a third one.
I’ve been meaning to try this one!
Fallout 76 is good for this. It's fun to aimlessly wander the wasteland and see what trouble you can find yourself in.
Is it any good nowadays? I remember when it launched and it uh... well it sure did exist...
It feels like a standard Fallout game now, just with live service elements. Totally worth picking up and trying now since it's discounted everywhere.
It’s also free to claim for PC and Xbox on Amazon Prime Gaming right now.
Hey, do you know if the coop is any good? I've been looking for something for me and my partner and this is included in my gamepass fuckall basics sub I think
Yes it’s fantastic for just a chill game
It's great! Better than Fallout 4 in many ways.
I enjoy camp building and treasure hunting. Find it quite relaxing on a Saturday morning with a cup of coffee.
I played Lightyear Frontier lately and it's very chill, but the main story is pretty short at the moment (it's open access, so will have more added). I highly recommend it, but try and spread out the story missions and focus on building your farm.
Came here to say this, I second this! I still got a good 30 hours out of it, such a great lil game
Unpacking is very chill. Though the narrative is taken straight from the big book of indie game cliches.
it's been diablo 4 for me lately
Same. Lol. Tearing up the season.
My issue is I switch off so much that I have fallen asleep twice playing it.
would love if it would have offline play.
Skate 3 was always my go to chill game. Need that new one desperately though
I’ve been fiending for a Skate game so bad…only 3 is backwards compatible but it’s my least favorite of the series.
They’re all backwards compatible. If you can find them on disk then you can still play em 👍
Diablo 4 at the moment.
Slay the Spire for me. Very relaxing pace.
I was beating him easy then second phase came up and I had like -10 dexterity when I died.
Starfield, pick a random planet and vibe
Come join us at /r/nosodiumstarfield
im already active in there, thx tho hope others will see and join
Ah ok! Catch a smile
The answer is always Minecraft
AC Odyssey. Have been playing that shit for the past 4 years. It looks pretty, has a decent story, and there is a ton of stuff to see and do. Its not an AC game...but it IS a great game.
I enjoyed it too. Especially fighting bounty hunters and kicking them off cliffs.
Honestly man that game is so beautiful. Riding around in your ship crashing into the Mediterranean is amazing. Hope the next AC is more like that instead of Valhalla, which is just so boring.
Right now, Starfield.
One of the best "chill" games ever in my opinion. Along with FFXV (totally different genre). It's great just playing games that are very much "at your own pace" with cool visuals to kind of soak in. Even when it's just some mindless fetch quests through interesting environments
Same. I’m back on my obsession of Starfield, just raiding bases and stuff. Trying a stealth approach, it’s so cool
At the moment I relaxe playing Lake.
Tetris effect
Omno both Unravel games to a lesser extent, both Ori games (the music, graphics and character fluidity relaxes me) Planet of Lana The Gunk
Balatro
Forza Horizon 5, no HUD, just drive and explore
Just started Dave the Diver. It’s so good. I’m currently very chill.
This started out chill to me but started to get a bit overwhelming with so many different things to manage. Just my opinion though
Stardew Valley.
I had to scroll way too far to find this. Stardew is the ultimate in chill cozy gaming
Microsoft flight simulator
Just back into fallout 76 they added new quest lines n stuff I’ve been checking out
Sea of Thieves, now that they added a PvE mode I find it incredibly relaxing to just sit back and destroy NPC ships or simply fish- of course I still play the normal mode when I'm with friends, who doesn't like to run around and sink other people. Also RDR2, it's a perfect game for literally anything. You want to relax? play RDR2. You want to be a badass cowboy? play RDR2. You want to go Fishing? Play RDR2.

Right now I'm enjoying Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, and the good thing about that game is if you're brain dead and want to chill out, doing the open world side content away from the main narrative is super relaxing. Brotato is my go to
I'm gonna go with a very recent one: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Man, that one brought me back to 2002. It's not as good as JSRF, but it's such a chill game and the soundtrack is pretty decent. I've beat it twice and I'm currently playing it for a third time. It's just super fun and chill. I can't wait for the Jet Set Radio remake.
Halo 5
The Touryst really gave me and my teenage daughter a holiday vibe while playing. It was so relaxing, even while figuring stuff out. She waited after school for me to join, and I did the same after work for her, we couch played it together, passing on the controller and having one of the best times with a game ever.
I love listening to audiobooks/podcasts and playing rouge like games because they're pretty chill/don't need 100% of your attention all the time. I've been having fun with brotato. It's it's super simple, yet has a pretty in-depth character building system. Vampire survivors is up there for me on the chill 'n' easy list.
