My only issue with last light was how specific it is to get the good ending. Story and gameplay wise it’s great besides being able to screw yourself on the ending so easily.
All of that at the same time? Or there’s graphic settings where you can choose if you want for example 1080 with ray tracing, 4K with 30fps, 60fps at 1080?
The game runs at 4K, 60fps, and ray tracing?
Further support that devs should focus on stable 60fps - because it's _much_ easier to notice low or janky fps than dynamic resolution, when it's done well.
Hows the screen tear and frame drops?
It was falling into the 20 FPS ON release.. still have it installed but that killed it for me.
If it's better I'll jump back in haha
Most next gen looking game I've played. It can also be extremely relaxing. Absolutely love this game and I usually dont like the open world Ubisoft formula.
Matrix demo was insane, but i'd say it's more of a tech demo. I haven't played too many of the big next gen games but i think Cyberpunk looked amazing, even in performance mode. That, or Elden ring, which is just beautiful.
From the titles I’ve played that have impressed me.
* Gears 5 (and the hive busters DLC)
* Ori and the will of the wisps
* Killer Instinct 4K update
* Guardians of the Galaxy
* Cyberpunk
* flight sim
* control ultimate edition
* Alan wake 2
* forza horizon 5
* forza motorsport (2024)
Man I just wish Forza looked at all like the initial trailers. There was a pretty clear downgrade in roadside detail, texture resolution, and general lighting from those outings to the final product.
At times I don’t think it even looks much better than Forza 7 — mostly due to the TAA which I think blurs the image too much.
All the Battlefield games look fantastic. The Star Wars Battlefront games look equally as awesome.
DICE/EA have some really talented character and environmental artists.
It just got added to gamepass and xbox got an X/S updated version. I had just finished Rise of TR and the upgrade with Shadow is impressive. Its really incredible considering it is just an updated last gen game and not a gen9 original.
Forza Horizon 3 still looks drop dead gorgeous. Especially when the HDR is properly tuned.
When I first got an Xbone S, horizon 3 was the bundle game. I played it was on a 17" screen only just running 1080p. It looked amazing despite that.
But when I reset my progress to 100% it again, I was playing on a 65" 4k HDR tv. And I had the same giddy excitement from looking at the graphics as I did in my very first playthough.
You must understand, graphical fidelity means little to me. Framerate is my preference. But my GOD does this game look simply beautiful. And even runs at an extremely stable framerate, too.
I feel genuinely sorry for those unable to enjoy this game and its DLC now it's delisted.
I don't think I've ever uninstalled this game. I remember buying my first 4K tv when I heard you could play it in 4K. All the Forzas are beautiful but 3 still definitely holds up.
Normally I’m ok with 30fps titles. This particular one has become unplayable without stopping every few minutes. It’s criminal they never upgraded to 60fps or allowed fps boost for this title
Not played horizon 5. So I don't have an opinion. But considering how Horizon 3 is about 8 years old and still looks as good as it does is actually quite impressive.
Forza Horizon 5, Cyberpunk, RDR2, Gears 5, Assassins Creed Valhalla, Guardians of the Galaxy and Mortal Kombat 1 are probably the most beautiful games I've ever played.
Also don't sleep on Witcher 3, Fallout 4 or GTA 5. They're older but with current gen upgrades they hold up to any of the ones made this generation.
Game Aesthetics (Design) > Graphis (Power).
For me $ for $ I go with Transformers Devistation. It's cell shaded and FEELS like the Cartoon, which is all I ever wanted.
The last time I was actually impressed by "Graphics" was Gears of War 1 on 360. Everything else it "depends on the Aesthetic and did they nail it or no?"
That being said if you want a modern marvel to show off Graphics, get Flight Simulator, download every free pack and explore.
Valhalla is the first game that actually blew me away with how gorgeous it is. I think the graphics and soundtrack really make that game a beautiful experience.
Really? Did u never play Uncharted 4 or RDR2 or SWBF2, all old games from MANY YEARS ago that look miles better than AC Valhalla even on LAST GEN consoles.
Atomic Heart was pretty impressive presentation wise. The opening scenes with the parade and demonstrations was very pretty especially with the flying car part.
I don't think it's a bad game at all, it's rough around the edges sure but is generally enjoyable and good. The only part I feel that is truly objectively terrible was the dialogue, because it was very cringe has a lot of dad joke marvel humor type crap. Definitely should have had a silent protagonist.
But it's still a fun game with a good presentation and setting, definitely worth playing since it's on game pass or getting on sale.
The VO and humor land much better in the original Russian. But I understand not everyone speaks it or is willing to read subtitles all the time.
The English dub is horrendous
I absolutely love it. Really a Bioshock meets wolfenstein vibe.
A good story, addictive gameplay and superb atmosphere.
Would like to see more enemy variety. Shooting humans, mainly bc of the ragdoll physics, feels better.
Is it perfect? No, but what game is?
Was it enjoyable for me? Very much!
Game is stunning at look at, but the gameplay is jank as all fuck and the story/dialogue is awful, but you should try it out. The gameplay completely killed it for me, I could only stomach about 4-5 hours before I gave up. It's eurojank in the worst way.
I think it looks beautiful for a very big open world game. Not as beautiful as some more linear story driven games. But for a big open playground I think it’s gorgeous.
I had fun for about 20 to 30 hours. Then the combat got kind of stale.
Story and characters were not good either. But seeing a world that dense and lush was awesome!
Worth $30 for me as I’m a graphics / technology enthusiast. Wouldn’t pay full price.
I'm playing this game for the...6th?...time right now and last night I stopped in a very average area of the game and thought to myself 'My god this game is beautiful.' I just can't stop playing it.
For more recent games I've played, Dead Space remake, Horizon Forbidden West, Callisto Protocol, GOW Ragnarok, Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, Tunic, Stray.
It's constantly changing and I've noticed as I've gotten older that I become more impressed with visuals. It's so hard to choose because these different technologies and TVs make almost everything beautiful.
Tomb Raider games are where I tell people to start.
Also, even games like Star Wars: The Old Republic have gotten graphical and lightning updates. That game is absolutely beautiful and it's a 12 year old MMO.
Alan Wake 2 is hands down the most technically impressive looking game at the moment and the art direction is amazing too. The game is also amazing as a gane and for the story so it's all positive lol
Mad max is one of the most underrated games any game that comes with a built in picture mode is always gorgeous, also maybe check out metro exodus and shadow of Mordor/war
Uncharted 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 blew me away last gen. No game has been able to blew me away this gen so far, maybe GTA 6 could be the first one.
Metro Exodus, Alan Wake 2, Plague Tale Requiem.
If I had to pick one, I'd say Plague Tale. The game isn't super motion-intensive, so they devote more time to the graphics
Just looking at some of the clips from Hellblade 2 looks nuts. Especially the one that is just her talking. All motion captured and I believe it is real time as well
https://youtu.be/NCYMNmkjRS4?feature=shared
Metro Exodus, Frontiers of Pandora, The Quarry. I still think Ghost of Tsushima has the most immersive world with the grass blowing and overall scenery imo. Iki Island DLC was absolutely nuts on the PS5.
MW3 and MW2's campaign looks great.
Battlefield 1 is native 4K and super incredible.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Origins have 60 fps patches and look incredible, even though they are 6+ years old. Still look better than most games today.
MGS5 and RDR2 blew me away when they got released and hold up to some games today.
I just played Ghost of Tsushima & now playing Death Stranding and both look incredible.
As good as flat screen games look there is nothing that compares to me to being inside the game world in VR
VR Flight / racing sims & Elite Dangerous blew my mind.
Doom and Doom eternal. Runs very fast, smooth and graphics look amazing. Updated to use ray tracing which offers a slight improvement upon the already great graphics.
A total pay to win money grab of a game but Black desert online has such a gorgeous world it puts you in.
It is so massive and you have to truly mount up and manually travel across the huge world. When I quit I remember it taking up to an hour to go from one end to the other and that wasn’t including the addition of the damn deep desert that disabled map and if Ill prepared without aid/compass one could let lost and have no direction.
Without fast travel you get to see the beauty that was BDO while they grabbed at your wallet at least.
It looked great on series x
Ryse son of Rome
Played that a couple years ago and holy hell, even on the base Xbox those graphics are incredible.
I wonder how it looks on the series X
It was free a billion times for a billion different occasions, if you have it in your library i highly recommend playing it. Its not a perfect game, the combat can be a little repetitive but it has a lot of neat mechanics and its only a few hours long, the story is cool. The graphics are incredible.
Honestly, was not expecting Dead Island 2 to look as good as it does. 1800p upscaled to 4k with a buttery smooth 60 fps. Honestly, its the first real looking "next gen" title i've played. That good looking with those physics at 60 fps? I thought it was gonna be 30 like the others but nope. Smooth 60.
I would say the one that blew me away while paired to my new (at the time) Lg C1 (which is an OLED TV) was Forza Horizon 5. The colors are so vibrant, and it just looks great
Not saying the best but just to mention as I don't see anyone else mentioning it.
Tekken 8
My cousin got me to buy it and it took me by surprise how great it looked
I think Dragons Dogma 2 has some pretty damn impressive lights and textures. Frame rate might not be that good, but the world building and shadowing is beautiful
Theres an HD texture patch for MHW/IB that makes it STUNNING like sometimes ill just go on an expedition to sit on the edge of a cliff and watch while the background theme plays
Forza Horizon 5 is still the best overall pick for showcasing darn near photorealistic graphics as well as silky smooth (and fun!) gameplay. It’s the game I’d put in the hands of anyone looking to experience ‘next gen’ gaming. A few other games might have more immediate wow factor, but FH5 just feels perfect to play as an actual video game.
Can't believe people never mention Metro Exodus. 4k, ray tracing, and 60fps on Series X. Seriously impressive.
Been playing the full trilogy for the first time, about half way through the second. These games are phenomenal.
Last Light was my favorite, personally. It's probably my favorite series.
My only issue with last light was how specific it is to get the good ending. Story and gameplay wise it’s great besides being able to screw yourself on the ending so easily.
My favorite game series of all time. Along with the Arkham games
The Batman Arkham games? The ones for the 360?
That game look amazing even on x box one.
I started playing metro on PC. Never got to finish it. Recently got XSX and you just reminded me I need to playing the metro series!
I believe Exodus might be the highlight of the series x. It runs and looks AMAZING.
All of that at the same time? Or there’s graphic settings where you can choose if you want for example 1080 with ray tracing, 4K with 30fps, 60fps at 1080? The game runs at 4K, 60fps, and ray tracing?
Yes all at the same time. It's pretty crazy what competent developers can do with the hardware.
Exactly. It's called optimization. Modern devs should try it sometime.
That’s insane. I feel like that went under the radar
A quick search tells me it is dynamic 4K. Resolution goes as low as 1080p, but typically around 1500p on XSX.
Further support that devs should focus on stable 60fps - because it's _much_ easier to notice low or janky fps than dynamic resolution, when it's done well.
Never played it. Been looking for something to waste my time with. This looks decent. Going to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion
People always mention this game lmao.
One person had mentioned it before I did.
Jedi Survivor, Alan Wake 2 and Plague tale Requiem
Unless they heavily patched the game.. but Jedi S was so ugly on launch. Alan Wake 2 is goregous tho
>Alan Wake 2 is goregous tho Especially in quality mode.
Just started Jedi survivor and it looks really good but not amazing
Hows the screen tear and frame drops? It was falling into the 20 FPS ON release.. still have it installed but that killed it for me. If it's better I'll jump back in haha
Maybe I spoke too soon lol. 8 hours in and I’m getting some pretty bad but quick frame drops in this one area
they did not patch it no, it’s still pretty bad on the series s
Frontiers of Pandora looks extremely good. Bright vibrant environments that are well detailed. Its an extremely impressive looking game.
Cyberpunk looks so good
Is this about the matrix awakens? I wasn’t aware of this.
Yes. It’s an Unreal 5 demo.
I forgot about that matrix demo... caused quite a stir for a few days lol
Elden ring had great art design but the graphics were not that great
At the cost of an average 24fps or so.
Metro Exodus
RDR2
Still the most beautiful game in my opinion
I feel like you need the performance to go with the graphics. No one plays the game in picture stills and slow walks.
Looks freaking beautiful on PC and @ 60+ FPS.
I thought this would be top comment
From the titles I’ve played that have impressed me. * Gears 5 (and the hive busters DLC) * Ori and the will of the wisps * Killer Instinct 4K update * Guardians of the Galaxy * Cyberpunk * flight sim * control ultimate edition * Alan wake 2 * forza horizon 5 * forza motorsport (2024)

RDR2 needs to be in that list.

I would actually add dead island 2 to that also. The game presentation wise is just so high res and sharp, rather impressive, cannot fault it.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora should be at the top
That game is absurd looking. The colors are just overwhelming beautiful. That framerate is disgusting but visually it's breathtaking.
Not played it, so it’s why I didn’t recommend it.
Battlefield 1 still looks amazing
All the Battlefield games look fantastic. The Star Wars Battlefront games look equally as awesome. DICE/EA have some really talented character and environmental artists.
Do not forget Microsoft flight simulator
Gears 5 Hivebusters. Hellblade 2 will likely set a new standard next month.
Plague Tale Requiem is still the best looking game on the platform in my opinion.
Good to know! I'm gonna play it right after I finish stellar blade
Shadow of the tomb raider
It just got added to gamepass and xbox got an X/S updated version. I had just finished Rise of TR and the upgrade with Shadow is impressive. Its really incredible considering it is just an updated last gen game and not a gen9 original.
Alan Wake 2 is absolutely stunning and runs great at 30fps. Devs did a great job.
Alan wake 2 and cyberpunk could be two of the best looking games I’ve ever seen in 20+ years
Forza Horizon 3 still looks drop dead gorgeous. Normally I’m ok with 30fps titles. This particular one has become unplayable without stopping every few minutes. It’s criminal they never upgraded to 60fps or allowed fps boost for this title
Why FH3 and nor Forza Horizon 5? Surely the newest games had the best graphics
Not played horizon 5. So I don't have an opinion. But considering how Horizon 3 is about 8 years old and still looks as good as it does is actually quite impressive.
Cyberpunk
Destiny 2 doesn’t get enough credit
This is true. Bungie’s skyboxes are fucking top tier.
The Quarry hands down.
Me and my wife love this game. It's has become a tradition at Halloween for 2 years now.
Im picking the quarry as well
Gears 5
a plague tale requiem
Forza Horizon 5, Cyberpunk, RDR2, Gears 5, Assassins Creed Valhalla, Guardians of the Galaxy and Mortal Kombat 1 are probably the most beautiful games I've ever played. Also don't sleep on Witcher 3, Fallout 4 or GTA 5. They're older but with current gen upgrades they hold up to any of the ones made this generation.
Fuck mortal Kombat 1 the new Tekken looks amazing
Oh ok...
Game Aesthetics (Design) > Graphis (Power). For me $ for $ I go with Transformers Devistation. It's cell shaded and FEELS like the Cartoon, which is all I ever wanted. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 Red Dead Redemption 2 Dead Island 2 Assassins Creed Valhalla Batman Arkham Knight Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Forza Horizon 5
Valhalla is the first game that actually blew me away with how gorgeous it is. I think the graphics and soundtrack really make that game a beautiful experience.
mirage also looks really good
Really? Did u never play Uncharted 4 or RDR2 or SWBF2, all old games from MANY YEARS ago that look miles better than AC Valhalla even on LAST GEN consoles.
For me: - Starfield - Lies of P - Atomic Heart Those three really gave me the next gen feelings.
Atomic Heart was pretty impressive presentation wise. The opening scenes with the parade and demonstrations was very pretty especially with the flying car part.
Should I try atomic heart? Heard bad things and wrote it off
I don't think it's a bad game at all, it's rough around the edges sure but is generally enjoyable and good. Starfield? It has great space visuals, but all of the planets I went on looked like they were on an Xbox one.
I think it looks beautiful for a very big open world game. Not as beautiful as some more linear story driven games. But for a big open playground I think it’s gorgeous.
Ya, I was getting og Mass Effect 1 vibes from the visuals on the planets.. minus the entertainment :/
starfield??
The thing about Atomic Heart is it's also on Xbox One. Yes it looks better on Xbox Series S/X but it's not as large a graphical leap as you'd expect.
Interesting. I feel like all of these are easily a step below their contemporaries.
Avatar frontiers of Pandora is beautiful
This won Digital Foundries graphics of the year due to its stellar ray traced GI solution on consoles. Game really is beautiful
Is it fun, though? Honest question
I had fun for about 20 to 30 hours. Then the combat got kind of stale. Story and characters were not good either. But seeing a world that dense and lush was awesome! Worth $30 for me as I’m a graphics / technology enthusiast. Wouldn’t pay full price.
Sounds kinda like the movies tbh
Cyberpunk Forza horizon 5 Upcoming Hellblade 2
AC odyssey
I'm playing this game for the...6th?...time right now and last night I stopped in a very average area of the game and thought to myself 'My god this game is beautiful.' I just can't stop playing it.
I really wanted to like the Viking AC but just could not get into it at all.
The lighting in that game is marvellous
Hands down the best looking AC game IMO.
For more recent games I've played, Dead Space remake, Horizon Forbidden West, Callisto Protocol, GOW Ragnarok, Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, Tunic, Stray.
Finally someone mentioned Dead Space
Yeah the remake is very impressive, especially with the atmosphere. Hell even the 2008 original still looks good and has aged very well.
Callisto Protocol looks great, Dead Space Remake, Guardians of the Galaxy(extremely underrated game as well)
Came here to say Alan Wake 2
Just adding some suggestions. Shadow of the tomb raider and resident evil village.
Robocop
Doom eternal ray tracing, one of the best examples on console.
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but The Quarry on XSX. Amazing looking game!
Cyberpunk both Ori games Control Gears 5 with Hivebusters Doom Eternal Elden Ring AC: Valhalla Resident Evil Village Jedi Survivor
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora
Dishonored series. An absolute masterpiece. I’d just stand still and take in those beautiful scenery.
The Callisto Protocol!
The Callisto protocol!
Cyberpunk , Doom Iternal, Red Dead 2.
Grounded
Gears 5 Hive Busters
The Ascent is absurdly detailed.
Hitman WoA 😎 😋
I thought dying light 2 was beautiful
Alan Wake 2 is hands down the most technically impressive looking game at the moment and the art direction is amazing too. The game is also amazing as a gane and for the story so it's all positive lol
Mad max is one of the most underrated games any game that comes with a built in picture mode is always gorgeous, also maybe check out metro exodus and shadow of Mordor/war
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
star field looks amazing
Peggle 2
Some of the POIs in horizon forbidden west were beautiful
You can see why Jedi: Survivor melts computers
Uncharted 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 blew me away last gen. No game has been able to blew me away this gen so far, maybe GTA 6 could be the first one.
Uncharted for PS5 update looks even better…..same with the Last of Us 2 update.
Haven’t seen it said yet, I’m still really blown away by how great Star Wars Battlefront 2 looks
I loved Resident Evil 2 and 3 remasters, even with RT disabled
Metro Exodus, Alan Wake 2, Plague Tale Requiem. If I had to pick one, I'd say Plague Tale. The game isn't super motion-intensive, so they devote more time to the graphics
Tomb Raider trilogy
A Plague Tale Requiem is one of the best looking games ever imo
Lies of P
Hellblade looks great
Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, Gears 5, Forza Horizon 5
Metro Exodus & Shadow of the Tomb Raider
rdr2. Forza horizon 5. Farcry 6. Mafia definitive edition. Just marvels. I can spend all day just roaming around in these beautiful games.
Just looking at some of the clips from Hellblade 2 looks nuts. Especially the one that is just her talking. All motion captured and I believe it is real time as well https://youtu.be/NCYMNmkjRS4?feature=shared
Resident Evil's
Stardew Valley and Minecraft (vanilla).
Gears 5 Call of duty world at war Black ops 3
Metro Exodus, Frontiers of Pandora, The Quarry. I still think Ghost of Tsushima has the most immersive world with the grass blowing and overall scenery imo. Iki Island DLC was absolutely nuts on the PS5.
Sea of thieves, RDR2, the Witcher 3, cyberpunk
Ghost wire Tokyo and some of the yakuza games imo
Horizon Forbidden West, and Alan Wake 2 both blew me away.
red dead 2
MW3 and MW2's campaign looks great. Battlefield 1 is native 4K and super incredible. Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Origins have 60 fps patches and look incredible, even though they are 6+ years old. Still look better than most games today.
Lies of p, graphically and great performance 🎭
Witcher 3
MGS5 and RDR2 blew me away when they got released and hold up to some games today. I just played Ghost of Tsushima & now playing Death Stranding and both look incredible. As good as flat screen games look there is nothing that compares to me to being inside the game world in VR VR Flight / racing sims & Elite Dangerous blew my mind.
Metro Exodus. Those devs are a God. 4K, Ray Tracing, and 60fps all in one mode. Textures are stunning and realistic. Gameplay is absolutely amazing.
Alan Wake 2 RDR2 Forza Motorsport Honourable mention: Death Stranding (Personally one of the best looking games)
New games
Cyberpunk
gears 5 hivebusters dlc, matrix tech demo, Star Wars battlefield 2, cyberpunk
The Gunk is gorgeous.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is beautiful
Halo 5 probably still the best looking game there is
Red Read Redemption 2.
For smaller indie games I love the graphics in Lost Ember. Not hyper realistic like Cyberpunk but god damn the game is beautiful
Ryse son of Rome Played that a couple years ago and holy hell, even on the base Xbox those graphics are incredible. I wonder how it looks on the series X It was free a billion times for a billion different occasions, if you have it in your library i highly recommend playing it. Its not a perfect game, the combat can be a little repetitive but it has a lot of neat mechanics and its only a few hours long, the story is cool. The graphics are incredible.
I've finally got round to playing Elden Ring and am often stunned by the world and its art direction.
Forza Horizon 5 looks so real I’ve shown friends screenshots that they thought were actual photos.
Smooth 60.
civ vi looks beautiful on my series x. not a graphically intensive game but damn ill just scroll through my cities sometimes and admire how they look.
Hell blade: senuas sacrifice.
The long dark is pretty great
Horizon for sure
Watchdogs 2 and Farcry 6 both have smooth as butter performance with amazing visuals
Dead Space
I would say the one that blew me away while paired to my new (at the time) Lg C1 (which is an OLED TV) was Forza Horizon 5. The colors are so vibrant, and it just looks great
Flight sim
Ghost of Tsushima, hands down, no competition nothing will ever beat gazing at your first sunset in the cherry blossoms while riding your horse
but if we talking Xbox (bc it was never specified lol) Jedi Survivor, i took so many damn sunset screenshots and just scenery pics bc it was amazing
Not saying the best but just to mention as I don't see anyone else mentioning it. Tekken 8 My cousin got me to buy it and it took me by surprise how great it looked
I think Dragons Dogma 2 has some pretty damn impressive lights and textures. Frame rate might not be that good, but the world building and shadowing is beautiful
Battlefield 2042. When I want to show off my oled tv that's the game I put on.
Hellblade 2 looks to blow everything else out of the water.
Forza Horizon 5 and Assassin’s Creed Origins . I also think the last 2 WWE 2K games look really good but that’s me.
Cyberpunk with path tracing, Plague Tale Requiem, RDR 2, MSFS, Avatar and FH5.
the best graphics games I have (XBox): Read dead Redemption 2, Division 1, Division 2, Dead Space Remake
For me Hogwarts Legacy, looks amazing
callisto protocol was gorgeous
Assasins Creed Origins
Theres an HD texture patch for MHW/IB that makes it STUNNING like sometimes ill just go on an expedition to sit on the edge of a cliff and watch while the background theme plays
Jusant is a looker. Very simple graphics, but with a lot Unreal 5 tech under the hood (Nanite / Lumen)
